Baby Keem's Secret Minecraft Channel: HykeezyHD

As a new wave of gen-z stars start to come into the mainstream, you start to see celebrities who had childhood YouTube channels, and one of the most notable celebrities to have one is probably Grammy winning rapper Baby Keem. If you don't know who Baby Keem is, he's recently exploded into the mainstream with his unique rapping and production style. He's achieved multiple platinum songs like Family Ties, Honest and Orange Soda, but he originally got his start in the music industry by working on the 2017 album Damn by Kendrick Lamar. After he showed Kendrick, his cousin, his personal music before getting his start in music. Though, Baby Keem had multiple YouTube channels throughout his childhood, starting all the way back in 2012 with the channel All Mighty Mods, when he was around 12 years old. Hey, beast, it's all mighty modz here and I'm going to be doing a review over the better Sprinting mod. It was mostly dedicated to Minecraft lets players mod reviews and Hunger Games videos similar to YouTubers like SkyDoesMinecraft who are very popular at the time. Speaking of SkyDoesMinecraft, Kim apparently killed him in Minecraft and made a video about it. Also under the Almighty Mods moniker. He joined multiple MCNs, an MCN is a multi-channel network which were very popular in the early days of YouTube. They existed to provide advertisers and collaboration opportunities to small creators. This mostly sounds like a good thing until you look further into them and realize they're mostly a scam that have been talked down upon by large creators like MAP from Game Theory and Jazz. Most videos from the Almighty Mods channel have been lost after it was deleted by Kim, but three videos he made for various missions are still very much alive and watchable. The channel that he made after so many mods was called. That's Carter. But it doesn't really have much going on with it. It only has two videos which are still both watchable today and will be linked below. But the next main channel is a direct successor called HykeezyHD in 2013, which is also a minecraft centric channel. There isn't a very clear reason why he switched over from allmightymods since most videos on each channel have been wiped off the internet. But we could theorize he either wanted out of all the MCN contracts he had been signing or he just wanted to change his name. We have a couple more videos from the HighKeezyHD era with multiple episodes of Minecraft Survival Game series being currently watchable. In another video featuring Keem as Hykeezy, he plays with someone with the in-game tag of level Asian HD, which actually turns out to be Robert McMahon. Robert McMahon is Baby Keem’s current videographer and photographer for his melodic Blue tour. They even had a group channel together back then called Diversity Squad with two of their friends. But it seems the channel never had any content posted on it. It's interesting seeing how far their connection goes from them playing together as kids to now touring the world together, both HykeezyHD and allmightymods have since been completely deleted off of YouTube and the only existing archives are snapshots on the way back machine and re uploads of various videos. Most of the credit for the initial discovery is all of these channels and videos goes to the baby Keem fan discord who also ran the tracker through the Minecraft channels. We have a very long, dark period where we know next to nothing about what Kim was doing during this time other than possibly streaming on Twitch. But there's no way to know now since after being posted on the baby Keem subreddit, the twitch was taken down, causing all the vods and clips to be deleted. Even having a seven hour stream we lost because of the post. So that's pretty unfortunate. The next YouTube channel he made was Beats by Carter in 2016, which is exactly what it sounds like a type B channel. The only two videos that are currently public on the channel are Coke, A, Future, Type B and Golden Girl, A, Lil Uzi Type B, Funnily enough, Kim and Lil Uzi came together and released a collab song on the Mark Blue Deluxe edition in 2022. Despite only having two beats on the channel, if you look up beats by Carter, you can find his track train account called Hakeem Carter. On that account, the only song this posted is called XO Beat Life, and surprisingly, it is not just a reproduction of Lil Uzi XO tour, but its own custom beat. These three songs are one of the earliest times we've heard Baby Kim's production, albeit in a much rougher form than it is today, but it still has some charm after that channel. Kim started to really focus on his musical career. Meeting up with a producer Kotoko brings from posting music on his SoundCloud, and that then leaves us where we started out with the story. With him meeting up with Kendrick to work on Dem is crazy to see how far he's come since his days as a small Minecraft and Type B YouTuber. I think his old channels helped tell the story of growing up from little kid to now being one of the most popular rappers selling out venues across the world, which in a way grounds him and to me and makes him and his music even more interesting and storied than it was before. I think these discoveries are just the start of learning about young celebrities and their past on the Internet, so it'll be very interesting to see what else will come out in the future.
