all right you guys today i'm comparing the hilti sdm2 with the hilti sd 4500 so basically just a regular drywall drill and a collated screw gun drill so i already know that this one's going to be a lot faster for me but you know what there is something worth mentioning not everybody is going to get the full benefits out of a collated screw gun you know there are guys out there especially some of the contenders for the drywall olympics yes it's a real thing and i am no contender for it but some of those guys can put screws in so fast that they are probably faster with a regular corded screw gun than i am with a collated screw gun so i want to make that really clear that not everybody is going to get the benefit out of these but i sure do so let's see how long it takes me to install a full sheet with this and how long it takes me to install a full sheet with this all right we are gonna start with the collated one the reason is um this sheet's a little bit harder i have to use a panel lift to get it up to the ceiling and the next sheet i just need to slam it next to the other one and start screwing it off so we're giving the handicap to the hilti uh auto feed all right but i gotta remember to start my b-roll camera otherwise i'm not gonna know how long this takes because that's my timer okay we are going [Music] [Music] man i didn't get it high enough all right we need to restart this for some reason i keep letting go on that panel lift okay try that one more time all right there we go [Music] yep [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh how am i missing [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] all right that's done um yeah let's check the time how long was that two minutes all right so one of those misses is because we have some voids in the stud that are going to get cut out after but yeah so right there i'm probably going to miss another one at some point when i'm doing this the old-fashioned way but that's what one of those was anyways let's get on to this one huh okay let's see how i do with the old-fashioned one let's not forget the timer again okay now we're ready [Applause] man [Applause] [Music] hey [Music] uh [Music] okay three minutes and 20 seconds yeah i think it's pretty obvious you know that was a minute and 20 seconds shorter to use this one so that's a big savings if you're going over a whole job you know but i was definitely rusty on this drill like i didn't even start to get close to picking up speed towards the end i found that i wasn't pushing hard and fast enough on this drill like if you go really fast then the screw just takes off no problem but then my depth wasn't set totally right and that's where this one you know the depth on this is like it was just kind of perfect every single time now one of the downsides to this one is because the attachment's bulky it doesn't get into corners well enough so i have a hard time getting the screws close into corners where the tape will cover them but because i'm the taper i just forgive myself and i'll coat those screws outside of the corners a little bit so i would say i mean definitely for me yes this tool is awesome i don't drywall all the time so i'm not using too many of these plastic things definitely like these things add up real quick i'm sure it's a fair bit more expensive although in my case if i was quoting jobs i'd get the time back because you know these are a lot faster it's only about 150 bucks for 8 000 of these screws so you know not that bad although it's probably triple what an actual box of screws is anyways you guys i'm kind of rambling here um i just thought you guys might be interested to see how they compare let me know in the comments do you have an auto feed um i'm sure there's a lot of heroes already typing their comments about how awesome they are and how slow i was but you know if you want to get as fast as one of those guys in one of those videos like i think the only way that can happen is if you start you know working on a piecework drywall crew and they put you on the screw gun and you don't do anything other than set screws for the first two years of your apprenticeship that's how you get that fast and um you know what i don't think i'd wish spending two years on a drywall gun on anyone so i'm glad that i'm slow enough that this actually makes a big difference anyways you guys hopefully you got something out of this video that's the auto feed versus the good old-fashioned drill thanks for watching and until the next one
