imagine it's the only time you will ever get a chance to play that part and do it your month this is just for me personally the only way you can fly in an audition is if you're completely prepared and then you let it all go and just do it but without the preparation I think it's unless you just are the character I think it's I think it's honestly disrespectful of the material to not have examined it as thoroughly as possible ground yourself and breathe right you want to go and fully load it with the material but you want to be very conscious with the space around you and just take in the space and breathe you already have the job and you're actually just going in for the first day of rehearsal because I always notice that if you have an audition and you're already working on something else you come into the audition and you're treated in the audition in an entirely different way you're the same person they're the same people but there's something about not needing it not having to prove yourself that it's better for everybody yeah just don't don't be afraid to be yourself I mean as a kid I granted we don't really know who we are yet I feel like I'm still trying to figure that out honestly but just be bold and confident in your choices people will love you for it and if they don't then and there's a really great quote that I love to use is Meisner quote and it's nothing is more exciting than a fully authentic fully alive version of yourself and that is not only true for our craft and what we do but that's something you need to take with you in life you can never be prepared enough a B at the same time you need to completely be able to throw all that out of the window and go with what is happening in the moment which then leads into C which allows you to keep all the facets about you that are unique because I'm a firm believer that if you show up with what you have to offer on top of that skill that eventually this will sort of rise to the surface in a way for you but the only two things actors have any control over is how prepared we are in our attitude so working on your attitude and especially gratitude and kindness I think people respond to and I always like to have a little something planned for myself after an audition even if it's an ice-cream or a coffee with a friend something nice so that I'll be more able to let it go don't be afraid to show them who you are there's a character obviously and you do your homework and your acting work but I think your essence is really what's going to save the day a little tricky trick that I do is I literally put on whatever I'm going to wear like the day before and I run the lines that I sing the song so that it's not a costume per se when I do go in to audition and then I just kind of read the energy of the room give them my big bold choices and then let them you know just direct me or change it or but I'm not so nervous about whatever might take place I don't second-guess anything I just let it all play out and it makes for a much more fun experience as opposed to a fearful one but be yourself I mean that's the most important thing once you walk in that door just be yourself because ultimately that's what they're looking for and whatever role they're going to cast you in who you are is going to be manifested through those words I mean and it's going to be different for every person because everybody's different so you're better off sticking with who you are being relaxed come in do the work do it as best as you can you really only have those three minutes they belong to you to them and really understand that that this is your time and do your thing and then leave the room but ultimately because ultimately you want to be able to like look in the mirror and say I gave it my all even if I didn't get the job you just want to be able to say that to yourself because if you can't then other problems start to occur like you're not giving your all you're not doing your best so you just want to be able to say to yourself I gave it my all I did my best and if I get the job great if I don't I gave it my all another job is waiting for me you
