how come when youtubers want to promote their content on reddit they always try and make it seem like it isn't their video? saying "these dudes" in the title when it's clearly a self post (seeing your post history only being related content from this channel) just makes it even more inorganic than if you were to just say "i made this video"

Some strangers knock on my door unannounced and offer to cook me dinner in my kitchen, and I'm telling them to fuck off. Call first.

if you're new to this channel i make videos about exploring the power of human connection and recently i've been inspired by a channel called stranger kitchens where two guys go around different neighborhoods in london and ask random strangers we make a cooking show where we go door-to-door and we offer to make people lunch so if you're interested we're making summer rolls today and we'd love to cook you lunch their show is a perfect example of human connection at play so i decided to try it out here in vancouver and see what experiences we would have the only issue is i'm not the greatest cook so i decided to bring along my friend justice to help out justice is a world traveler and an avid cook so with the missing link figured out my roommate matt and i went to justice's house to plan out the day what is up what up baby good morning you ready yeah what up this year we're uh we're in a neighborhood now we gotta go and knock on our first house what do you think the pitch is uh we are filming a video project and we were wondering if we could cook dinner for you tonight for you and some of your friends simple as that yeah but more confident as i just did it should we knock on this one right in front of him yeah yeah let's do it yeah um i'll be literally just going door-to-door yeah i'm not feeling not either yeah no when you're not feeling it oh that's true actually i think we should just go with it yeah i too was looking for like something a little bit bigger let me make you dinner not many people knock on doors anymore no people have the door knocked on it's more of an annoyance than anything yeah this is locked yeah i think this is no yeah we got nothing here yeah i thought the weekend was going to be better because i was like people are going to be at work yeah weekends are difficult hey hey how are you doing today good uh we're out filming a video project we're basically wondering if we can go and meet some strangers and offer to cook them dinner tonight at your house at my house yeah no all right they're just kidding no seriously yeah really yeah you're kidding yeah we're totally serious yeah yeah i don't think anyone let you go in this coco tingling fair enough not like the past man yeah now we need to make it work because that clip was so good yeah you don't think we can do this we got this we totally got this yes what's going on hey how you doing today good hi there hey how are you doing we're going out and doing a video project where we're trying to connect with strangers in vancouver and we're wondering if we could make you dinner tonight for three of us for your family or for your friends if you're interested tonight we got a nine-year-old's birthday party that's a wonderful offer guys yeah but i'm afraid it's not going to work we're just busy doing family stuff that's totally fine it's the weekend yeah good luck guys thank you i'm sure you'll find somebody people so far with families have been super approachable which is strange because i would be like as a father i'd be kind of protective of definitely my family my kids i feel like we're getting close we're gonna get somebody we'd love to know if you are interested in having a meal made by strangers you can buy it for friends family [Music] hey gary how you doing what's up we're trying to make somebody dinner tonight you're kidding me no not real oh how where when what uh tonight the thing is our house is in chaos because if you look through there you'll see that we don't have a dining room or a living room i think i think we can't need that many people i think that's kind of part of the fun you'd eat with us oh yeah absolutely yeah yeah this is amazing yeah see this is like you guys almost need us to come in and make you a meal so you have like a break from this and like so what what is going on here you guys just doing a massage the living room and dining room if you come three weeks ago it was uh plastered and we ripped out all the plaster i love how perfectly imperfect it is we can always make do with anything we can even bring over a chair connecting with us in our chaos it's kind of fun yeah yes yes amazing so what actually what is your name daniel daniel brad i'm carrie justice nice to meet you kevin here justin nice to meet you um so just the one thing we have to ask you guys is what would you like to eat is there something that you haven't had in a long time that you guys love something that you maybe want to learn how to cook you bring in the food that we're doing the shopping i'll even bring over some of my own chances are you good cooks yeah are there any things related to you guys because this is like a two-way street oh there's this one dish that is my favorite thai dish to make it's called cow soy and i had it was in thailand but i would love to show all of you what that is okay cool i like this one you've had it before no but i love thai food perfect see what i love about this dish actually is a lot of the spices are roots like they're coming it's green gal it's going to be turmeric root it's going to be ginger i think we use black cardamom coriander chicken stock oh yeah good night sub to you okay perfect you're going to be hanging on i think we're in good shape well we'll uh we'll get out of here yeah perfect thank you guys thank you you guys are we amazing it yo yes they're like the perfect people with finding somebody to say yes already covered now all we needed to do was grab the tools and the food that we needed all the spices together and all the fresh fruit ingredients that we're going to have talking about well that's debatable let's start with price where are we the mission hill is you know uh high school is pretty good done you're welcome okay cool you see that live oh yes these are the ones that we're gonna be deep frying they become like a really nice texture and they taste delicious and they make it look great carrie is allergic to dairy so this is the perfect substitute and it's a staple of all like thai cooking can we get about 12 of these chicken thighs should be enough so we got all the ingredients we have a little bit of a time crunch it's five o'clock justice has to leave at nine so off to daniel and carries now come on we got all the ingredients would you like an apron actually i would oh no way that's funny thank you that was actually made by my mom oh amazing really we have a variety of family chopping boards we came to the right house this is yeah yeah yeah so daniel's gonna be making his dinner today but please tell me you didn't buy basil no oh i finally learned how to trim it that's beautiful these look perfect may i yeah yeah oh this reminded me of the house i grew up in is my mom cooking there's nothing fresher than this yeah the chocolate cake is looking a little uh enticing there handmade organic it's his mom's recipe sweet you whipped up this cake go to nowhere just when after you found it we're coming over for dinner really wow what can i do to help you with the cooking first of all i'll probably just grab the chicken give it a rinse so let me show you what we've got going on here we've taken some ginger here in the shallots and just charred it up a bit put it in here we're going to start roasting some of the spices it's going to smell really good we're going to throw this all on a mortar and pestle and start banging it away what i like about this like it's such a really fine consistency but it's still a bit more like rustic compared to like a coffee grinder they but it just wasn't doing powder you want to give it a walk really quickly oh toasty oh wow okay now we're going to put a healthy amount of the curry paste in here that's just going to be the base for soup stock we're going to sear it a bit brown it get some of that flavor in there i wish all you at home you could taste this and smell this right now because it's so good [Music] good work i think me and dan make quite the team yeah yeah yep it's good it's gonna be good the work is done besides chopping up some stuff now it's the time it takes the simmer flavors to combine the chicken to cook a toast is in order yeah yeah yes two weird adventures you're new friends yes thank you for inviting us into your home this is amazing it's just fabulous to to open up that possibility in one two three or a hundred minds that i can actually connect with a stranger and it can be as safe and fun and comfortable and fulfilling experience okay we got fresh egg noodles ramen noodles we're going to add in here this is the fun part so what you're going to get is this kind of rigid and it's crunchy and tasty i like [Music] texture all right we are at perfect timing so maybe i guess let's see the bowls see we could start with the first station here yeah we're coming together we're doing it perfect two pieces of chicken each and there'll be some left over okay [Music] this is great i love making this stuff oh my boat is so floating [Music] wow look at this it's so romantic so exciting yeah this is great oh god this is good well done it worked out thank you justice to the chef chefs more of this going around the world yeah yes i think to all of us because you guys let us in we wanted to do something and it all came together because we all made it happen this is a big thing beyond what a lot of people would be comfortable doing but i think as a big thing it's a model use this as a launch pad to say to my followers in my community what can you do to connect with a stranger to make this world just a little less separated and lonely it's interesting people say it's difficult to make friends in vancouver yeah look at that you knock on someone's door i think as humans we have a tendency to think of happiness in relative terms i don't know if we'll ever be able to break away from that we don't ask if our meal is delicious but rather is this the better meal or is what you ordered the better meal and then we decide if we're happy based on those relative standards one example is uh an experiment i did with my children when they were young i gave them each an envelope i did this separately for each of them opened up an envelope looked inside and found a 20 bill and i asked them are you happy and they said to me i don't know what do you mean you don't know i just gave you twenty dollars and so i experimented by telling them well there was only five dollars in the other envelope then they got all excited and then i said actually i lied there was a hundred dollars in the other envelope and then they got sad choose to be happy based on what you got because happiness really is a choice i think of so many different ways where i've had something amazing in my life and just i've not loved it as much because it could not be as shiny as the next one or i don't mean to embarrass daniel in this in terms of relationships for instance when you have a bunch of relationships that you thought were okay and then you find a relationship that is so much superior to those that's okay use that relativity to realize like that's good because it's good what did you think it would embarrass me oh just because i'm talking about you being great what you should know is we're a relatively new couple i was married for 19 years my my wife died in march over three years ago um and that's it's after that that i met kerry we're newbies fairly new yeah two years we met online okay that's pretty cool that was what okay cupid yeah and and that's a funny thing because she dated just about every man in my age group in vancouver and she was my first date worked hard to find him he just freaking lucked out um i i i just i don't have words for it but this is just really it's really special experience for me anyway nothing i can say you guys know how much our only credit is to be receptive to it and say yeah to say yes yeah yeah thank you fantastic i hope to see you guys again soon all right yeah take care peace out thank you very much thank you for this man we're not doing the dishes but i cook so yeah all right time to clean up all the dishes you're family now so we're all doing it together all right okay yeah we're family now that's a pretty crazy thing to hear coming from somebody who just hours before this was a complete stranger but that's what happens when you truly connect with people around you and it's experiences like these that show you how many amazing people there are out there in the world and to be honest i'm still trying to figure out what all this means you'll never know your impact yeah yeah it'll be there you won't see it it doesn't need to be revolutionary and yeah you create a better world around you if everybody did that we'd be there right [Music] thank you so much for having us oh you're so welcome all right let's get out of here done wow that was what a day carrie was right maybe if we all try to be a bit more creative and open to meeting new people in our own way we can make this world a little bit less lonely and it's not about becoming best friends with every stranger you see it's about figuring out new ways to make connection more normal in our cultures to stop us from being so divided and lonely because when we connect with each other and even the smallest of ways it benefits everyone if you want to see more from justice check out the link
