Hello there! So, today I'm doing a very highly requested video. A few weeks ago, I don't know if you remember I actually sat here and reacted to some of the worst Instagram art hack videos that I could possibly find and instagrams wonderful place It has great great stuff on it but there's also a lot of garbage on there and it's really difficult to differentiate between the videos and the hacks that do work and The ones that don't so today as you all requested I'm gonna be sitting here and testing out some of these hacks to see which one's work And which ones are as bad as they look. So I hope you enjoy and let's get started So this first hack I'm gonna do was something I actually reacted to last time And I feel it has its own special place in this video. Basically, it says if you take a dryer sheet And you take a cup Stick that in the cup. Well, they've got a big dish, but I haven't got a big dish I'm using a cup Okay So I've got some dried paint brushes here As you can see this crusty paint brush is It's it's it's got no, it has absolutely no hope anymore. So we're just gonna Stick that in there like that And we're gonna leave it. It doesn't actually specify how long you're supposed to leave it for. It just says, let sit So I'm going to do just that I'm gonna let it sit and see if it loosens at all, you know I might be pleasantly surprised I don't think I'm going to be but we will see. I'm just gonna kind of wiggle it about in there for a bit Okay So this has been sat in here for probably about an hour now and I'm gonna see if it's made any progress with the paint and It's still It's still rock hard. So this next hack is basically using a Crayola style marker as watercolor So I'm pretty sure this is actually going to work But I don't think it's gonna work how they sort of making it appear to be so basically in the video, they are painting on or drawing on With the Crayola onto a piece of ziplock bag that they have cut off So I'm gonna do that right now then they have a small piece of watercolor paper which is Cut better than the mine is, right now Basically, they're making like bookmarks and I just managed to locate some big markers because they use quite big markers for this So I'm going to use a purple and a red. So what I'm gonna do here is Basically just color onto this plastic Quite heavily and then oh, this is actually pumpkin This is orange. It's orange. Damn it. Okay. Well, we're gonna go with orange today instead of red because I Don't have the red. So I'll colored onto this piece of plastic like that And then I'm gonna take a damp wet brush and then start like smearing it around So now I'm just smearing around All of the crayola marker. There doesn't appear to be a rhyme or reason to this So I'm just gonna kind of smear it best I can And it looks like you gotta work quite quick with this too because it's drying very fast And looking like a hot mess at the moment, so that's how it looks it's damp. I'm gonna take my Watercolor paper and just stamp it on really quick. Okay, so right so stamped it on And I'm smearing it down and that doesn't look too pleasant, but let's look That is Not what I was expecting. Okay, so I'm actually gonna be doing this again I've dampened the ziplock, but what I'm gonna do now is I'm actually going to dampen the paper To see if it makes a difference at all because I realized yesterday I didn't do this Okay, and now I'm gonna stick this over the dampness To see if that helps in any way Ah, yeah, there we go. That's what I did wrong. I didn't dampen the paper first. So, okay This one works. This one actually works. So this next hack helps you to save those frayed brushes apparently so basically if your brush looks like.... ........that. Apparently you can make it look like... new, again. So I have plenty of frayed brushes More so bent brushes than frayed because I leave them in the glass too long And then they bend so I have a bar of soap here and basically apparently all you do is you just wipe it back and forth on the soap, leave it to dry overnight and Apparently it helps to make them Formed the way they're supposed to be again I'm just wiping it on the soap maybe... maybe it only works on brushes that are frayed, not bent. I Could be mistaken Okay, so I'm gonna go ahead and say that it probably doesn't work for bent paint brushes because I can't really form it back into Its shape when the shape is entirely bent. So what I'm gonna do is I found a somewhat frayed paint brush and see if I can fix it with the soap Like I was with the other paint brush, and honestly, I feel like this is gonna work for just frayed brushes not bent brushes though Because I guess in a way it works kind of like a gel especially if you let it dry with the soap on it It's going to kind of help form it back into shape. Okay, so this is nice and formed now as you can probably not see And I don't have overnight to wait for this to dry. So I I'm bringing in my secret weapon *loud wooshing dryer noises* ..... ...lol It has worked it has actually worked. Essentially, the soap acts as a form of like Gel, like it gels the fibers back into place whether this will last or not once you've actually used the paintbrush I don't know but here's a before and an after you can you know, you can clearly see the difference there Okay, so next up, I'm gonna try this hack that I have actually seen many times over and I've never really known if it actually does work because it seems like the type of thing that wouldn't work to me But we're gonna try it anyway. So basically you have a canvas Like a regular ol canvas and you can turn it into canvas art. So basically use a regular printer paper I've got a lovely illustration of myself as Chlob Rosse, which my boyfriend actually did make sure you go follow him on instagram by the way because he's amazing at stuff like this I'll leave all of his information down below but I thought hey, it would be fun to have myself with a beard and a wig on, on a canvas for... Reasons so basically you take the canvas and you You smother it with like Mod Podge So that's about it..you..smother it in Mod Podge Apply it all over my canvas. It is by the way, it's damaged. I'm not wasting canvases or anything like that It's actually damaged unfortunately, so it's gonna be severely damaged after having my face put on it. That's for sure This stuff stinks. Oh god. Oh, no. I really don't know how much I'm supposed to be putting on of this I could be putting way too much on or I could be not putting enough on. I actually don't have a clue Now I apparently just place my face I'm a poet and I didn't know it.. did I do that right? So now I apparently have to let it dry so We're gonna let it dry Right, I'm gonna go back to this canvas now and it says to spray the back but I don't have a spray bottle what I'm gonna do Is I'm gonna take my little flannel here. And apparently all you do is literally just Rub it off of the canvas Again, I don't know if I've done this right? Okay, so I'm just currently Rubbing this off So if you've seen these things online and ever wondered if they actually work It seems to, I'll give it that. And I've let this dry for about... I want to say 25 minutes? I've not even left it to dry maybe as long as I should have Okay, so I've sat here for about 10 minutes scraping this off and it has worked it's such a cool idea I think my first mistake was that I picked a picture that wasn't covering the whole canvas Because obviously I've gotta get these these white bits off But I think it'll be fine like so I'm definitely gonna be doing this in the future I've always seen these videos that show this and thought... that doesn't work. Come on. But you know what? It does. I'm just not gonna sit here for another 20 minutes picking it off. But as you can see it worked I'm very happy. So you'll be happy to hear that I bought myself a new glue gun because I still could not locate the one that I'd lost But I can't remember why I bought it So for this one, we're gonna make that puffy paint that I saw in my other video So basically you need food coloring. My Walmart did not have food coloring. It had gel food coloring So hopefully that will be an OK alternative. We also got some shaving foam. It has to be foam Not the gel stuff and then I got some white glue So apparently you stick some glue, food coloring (and shaving foam). It doesn't tell you how much.. gonna stick the glue in the little Jar. I hope that's okay and then food coloring next And then you stick in the shaving foam Okay, so let's grab some of our paper and make a giant balloon Because we can so I'm just gonna take my paintbrush Make a giant puffy balloon and I think it's such a fun and creative idea and it seems to be working Okay, I'm not sure of the specific ratio of glue to foam That you need but you know, it seems to be okay. It's very fluffy and puffy I see why they call it puffy paint because it's Puffy. If I had told my 14 year old self that in 10 years time I would be filming myself Painting a balloon with shaving foam.... I probably would have been very shocked and disappointed in myself it's just getting bigger because I can't seem to get the shape right and It's got a beautiful like texture to it. There's a nice Pigmentation to the balloon, so I'm rather impressed with that I will give that a 5 out of 5 because I actually enjoyed being a child for five minutes *loud mowing noises* Go away. Someone's decided to be very rude and mow their lawn right as I'm trying to film my video Okay, this last hack is is it a hack? It's kind of a trick and I'm curious because it looks so cool Basically, they put a bit of like I've got some dental floss here. I'm guessing that's kind of what they used they stuck it in some ink and then they put it like Nicely on the paper closed it up pulled it out and wow. It's like a masterpiece I stupidly Don't have gloves on me Which is probably a mistake, but you know what, This is me. We're talking about when don't I have ink on my hands, you know, so We'll have to live with it. So I'm gonna put in The floss. (talking to the floss as if it understands) In you go.. in you go.. in you go Drown in the ink, please Thank You. Right this is gonna be a tedious process because I cannot for the life of me Get this into the ink if I put it in like this There we go, so now they have placed it Very prettily prettily onto the paper putting it really fancily On the paper so that's That's fancy enough right? Like this and we're gonna pull There we go Okay, it is done. Are we ready to reveal the pretty? Ready ready ready, BOOM - Oh actually worked That actually looks like a flower doesn't it? It looks so pretty Okay, I like that just don't use dental floss So, thank you so much for watching. I hope you enjoyed the video I actually really enjoyed myself doing this even though some of it was rubbish. I actually still enjoyed doing it Anyway, it's kind of like an arts and crafts day when you're a little kid at school. Let me know there's any hacks you'd like to see me try out next and Yeah, I think that's everything. Thank you so much for watching. I hope you enjoyed the video Make sure you give this video a thumbs up if you enjoyed it Take care of yourselves and I will see you in the next video
