welcome to rob's gaming table i'm rob i'm mel and we're going to be playing uh one of those lcg games that the kids all play those fantasy flight games you know living card games the never ending collection of paper that somehow drains your bank account especially when you show up to the game late uh this is the one with uh we're playing the one with legolas and and gandalf and gimli and stuff right that's this one no not that one uh oh oh we're playing the lcg with the the captain america spider-man and iron man right that one not that one either then what the heck one are we playing the cthulhu one oh that's right i don't know i i get them all confused all the time they're super similar i'm just kidding anyways hello everybody hello hello wow oh here's the jot on us for our bad comedy get out get out yes we're playing arkham horror the card game let me tell you something this is the only living card game product only fantasy flight card game i think i think since i got into the hobby like nine plus years ago uh i got into into gaming through fantasy flight games finding game of thrones board games technician very quickly after got into game of thrones the living card game first edition uh and then once i got hooked by that i said i need to find more and then found lord of the rings the living card game got obsessed with that started buying everything going crazy and then you guys know netrunner and warhammer and l5vr and uh yeah whatever else keyforge there's so many i know keyboards not an lcg but another card game product everything that comes out of that department at ffg i buy except this game this game when it came out and was released i had not really played any arkham horror themed stuff i felt it was just them double dipping on the exact same system that i already had hundreds if not thousands of dollars of cards for with lord of the rings i felt and we already have a co-op lcg this already i can't i don't feel like i spent enough time in it already it's it's constant product releases constant like podcasts meta reading deck building it's like a hobby within a hobby these are lifestyle games having the room for multiple lifestyle games full-time job and all this stuff's tough having the room for two lcgs was my limit so lord of the rings game of thrones at the time when game of thrones rebooted the second edition jumped to warhammer tried some l5r when i got out of playing co-op once got back into marvel champions when it came out and i thought yeah this is the one i'm going to avoid but since i think since this game came out this has been the number one requested game for me to play on the channel in the last five years since this game has been out yeah this is the most requested one i got facebook messages i i got uh direct messages on twitter i get uh comments on videos random game videos going yeah rob that's great you play this game where the hell is the arkham horror the card game and it's like what the heck man and i honestly think the thumbs down bandit might be related to wanting me to play this game and maybe we'll stop seeing those now because of it but anyways i've said no i try to hold off my bank account i've protected against this game for now five years five years but in the last year since covet hit everyone's in lockdown word is spread on this game being one of the best one or two player games out there that you can just get lost in time will fly and have some fun living in this lifestyle game our compared to the card game and i already knew it was a good game i was just trying to avoid it because i didn't want to lose you know thousand dollars trying to chase down packs in another game again um so yeah so i've held off until this last holiday season there was a sale at a friendly local game store they knocked like 15 or 20 bucks off core sets so we grabbed two because i'm not an idiot i've played enough lcg games and ffg products to know that core set 99 times out of 100 does not have enough stuff in it to feel like a full game and of course i found that was the case with this uh starter set so we bought two so we could build some okay decks you know some more consistent decks actually have two of of some of the cards in the deck like they couldn't slide in those extra you know a few cards in their player cards to give two of everything i don't know what they were doing but anyways uh yeah better than uh chris is saying better than buying three copies with lord of the rings chris because i was building for four players i might have like six lord of the rings core sets or eight i don't remember what i what i stopped at but yeah yeah yeah i'm a sucker like that so i was kind of happy that it's just mel and i playing for now until the lockdowns and stuff you know vaccines get out there show more's in the chat you feel free when uh yeah they're better man like killing me man killing me to have to just sit here and play with my wife all day i mean oh i mean scratch that scratch set or by myself no no just kidding uh but yeah so i we grabbed two core sets we built two core sets uh our used the course two corsets to build decks um but we gave in i thought you guys are are like always asking for this game on the channel all the time there's other games are asked for a lot lately too but this was just one literally someone probably once a month for the last like five years has gone rob you're playing all these living card games on your channel especially back when this came out why aren't you playing arkham where's the arkham so like it constantly was asked and i just avoided it i'm like it'll die down then they announced marvel champions i thought okay marvel champions is coming people will forget about this game but no i see why even when i explain marvel champions on the channel people will come in the chats on those and just go that's game's not as good play arkham like i'm like get out of here i'm playing marvel leave me alone like go go watch another channel you know um so we gave in we have it we have just two corsets okay just a little experiment i already know i will love the game i love lord of the rings i love marvel champions i love all ffg lcgs and card games i love key forge anything coming out of that department it's just i i love it all i i've loved every game i've played from them no no questions asked so i know i love it i know i like it i'll keep playing it and that kind of thing but with this game i don't plan on continuing past these core sets unless you guys are watching this liking it sharing it it there's a like a want for it on the channel if you guys are watching live we have a good turnout for you know these next three episodes today tomorrow and the next day three days in a that want to continue watching us play it i'll try i know it's hard to find some of the packs and expansions right now i know that's the thing uh i've i've gotten into lcgs in the middle of them before and how to track down packs and drive to various cities and scour websites and hit f5 on web pages for for uh reprint stock to come in and email alerts and all that kind of stuff so i'll try to track stuff down but we'll see how it does so if you want to see more on the channel share this with your friends you know tell people we're playing it i know we're just playing the corset though and i know it's 2021. some of you guys might be like what the hell these losers are playing with only corset cards man i got like 57 expansions my decks are loaded with super efficient cards these guys are playing that beginning stuff lame yes we're late to the party but if you want to see more and want to see it grow we'll add to the collection we'll build some decks we'll play some other scenarios we'll get some standalone scenarios we'll get some deluxe expansions we'll do some you know we love playing campaign games on the channel you know we love playing all through stories and legacy games and that kind of stuff we will play through the deluxe boxes and the campaign or the mythos packs and all that and all that stuff and i'll try to track it down but you guys are driving this like it's based on how this does compare to other games and stuff on the channel so i'll we'll keep going but it's just kind of a test and kind of an experiment because i can withhold continuing to buy this game i i know what's involved in following an lcg for years years and years and i see where the future is it's like boxes and boxes of cards filling up shelves and a game that i'll eventually you know maybe get bored of and i want to play anymore um and we'll die down so like i don't need to go that route i've done that before many times but i do have fun with this game and it's all up to you guys so we'll see yeah and this is one of my favorite themes i also want to know i see the chat's going pretty quick there i'm trying to read some of it but man uh before you say that if you can remember shomar does say i will personally deliver my set to you if you continue to play so we might have to have you been collecting this tomorrow i figured you would have gotten into this game before but i didn't know you had it at all okay interesting we'll have to like i'll buy it yeah we'll have a discussion with you yeah i'll pay you that'll be easier than trying to track down every single pack yeah not played as i'm curious i assume this game's been around for six years it's a very hyped game it's very popular it's got a recent boost because of the coveted lockdowns and being inside playing co-ops and solos same boost marvel champions got there's actually a lot of play wow oh yeah i just want to see like are we talking to an audience that all know the game has been playing it for years and like let's not treat everyone like that you know they've never seen it and not go through how it works uh so i'll we'll play as as like we are new to the game yeah we're new to the game we're newbies obviously um but we know pretty much the rules i think there's some faq stuff obviously we won't know and some rulings and that kind of thing feel free to chime in in the chat if we're like totally playing a card completely wrong or something because we've only played with each other i haven't really you know obviously we haven't played with a gaming group to help correct us or haven't been like following the game for six years in forums and stuff to know uh what rulings and interactions and weird things exist in this game and i know there will be like i said we've followed many living card games and been deepened deep in the trenches so i know that stuff exists uh daniel yes we'll use the grim rule if there's a situation where we do not know how to resolve it we usually do that in all games we make it harder for ourselves yeah yeah we don't know absolutely but then i saw in the faq there's like the grim rule gets misunderstood a lot uh that any time there's like a choice always choose the worst one it's not that it's like if you can't quickly find something in the rules then just choose the worst thing and move on it's there the grim rule is there to meet to stop you from going through the rules and can't figure it out then going to bgg then calling your friend and you know messaging ffg sending emails over waiting weeks for answers they're just saying here's the grim rule if you're in that situation where you can't find in the rules nobody at the table knows and you're gonna house rule it just house rule it on the side of like the more difficult side that's what the grooming rule is uh quick thing yep i was just gonna say uh d miller in the in the chat has a question what difficulty are you playing on yeah i was gonna get to that perfect timing yep yep we'll get to the game in a minute i just we got some setup stuff to do here uh which involves you guys watching live also uh which difficulty you want us to play on we've been told in our discord and i've been messaged before that if we ever play this game and when we got the game a couple months back that we should play on easy there's no shame in that it recommends that in the rules i i've seen that recommended online when i was looking up how to plays and that kind of stuff a lot of people say no shame play on easy all it does is change some tokens in a bag or something uh but you guys can vote and you're not voting in the chat i i quickly whip together a straw poll which i just dropped in the chat go in the live chat now click the link and go on over to straw poll and you can quickly just click a button on easy or normal and we have played this on normal we've tried this on normal yep we've played through this campaign one time i don't really remember all that happened and we're not going to tell you what we saw in our choices and stuff we didn't read we didn't spoil ourselves other than the choices we made so we're playing through this for our second time um and so yeah so we're i'm assuming to see different things happen and that kind of thing but uh we're not gonna let you know what happened uh if we can remember like if we can avoid it let's not mention what we've seen spoil anything or you know drive play we'll try to play it as fresh as we can and there's some chat about coin capsules using coin capsules so i know there's upgrades and stuff but again shipping delays covet all that stuff i ordered the coin capsules that you guys were recommending before uh there was not really locally available in canada that i could find of the right size i wanted so i ordered them from china uh through amazon i think it was but from china they're coming so i hopefully will see them in like a month or less hopefully from now because i ordered them a few weeks back uh but they're not here so we're playing with cardboard i know that and no i'm not gonna buy any upgraded uh team covenant tokens or anything like that i'm okay with that i'll just play with the coin capsules and we have a bag which shame on you ffg shame on you ffg charging like 50 u.s 60 canadian or whatever it is depending on where you get your your core set uh the youth the amount of cards that are in this corset box again is another ffg rip job and also i noticed our core sets uh they've been reprinting this corset over and over again but all the errata stuff i don't think has been corrected in the rulebooks that we have and stuff so i was kind of blown away by that that i don't think they've been updating the printings uh to cards because even our player cards uh still don't have the zero level on it that's meant to mention in the rata but why is there not a bag included like these bags are so cheap why is there not a bag included in the corset from ffg they even sell bags like this or they used to uh which is probably why they don't include it in they want you to buy extra stuff yeah i don't think the corset was 50 bucks yeah was it we got them for like 40 canadian because they're on sale okay but i think a corset is like okay yeah because 50ish us msrp i could be wrong but i think that's msrp yes you can find it on sale and it's cheap uh corset let's find out fmg usually oh 45 us is the price yeah 45 u.s so you charge me 45 us for two stacks of cards whoops i just added to my card oh no i'm buying more no stuff oh cancel that their website's making me buy more product just by browsing it why did it do that we did get it on sale a little bit too right with the holiday deal yeah yeah yeah no no our core sets here and i think it's a supply and demand thing it's like yeah even at our cheaper retailers like on a sale they're like 40. so it's like they know they're gouging and there's no bag in there why is there no bag why is there no like 10 cent little bag like i can't believe it i was blown away by that use a mug or a bag or something you know it's like get out of here ffg he's a mug yeah like use an opaque container it's like so lame but anyway yeah people are mentioning that amazon has it on for 35 right now so if anyone is looking for is that u.s or canadian amazon remember americans there's there's other countries out there there's uk amazon there's there's canadian amazon they're like whole separate companies uh that all different products different suppliers and stuff u.s dan okay perfect 35 u.s so for our friends south of the border 35 u.s right now on amazon for a corset those are interesting interested and yes i'll cut to the chase the game's great there's the reason why it's all hyped like you guys know i like don't even have to do my usual routine of going to bgg but i'll humor you i'll humor you for the ones that don't know this game very well or have never heard of it really or anyone tuning in later who bumps into this game on the channel yeah this is ranked 22 overall on bgg out of all board game products that exist so like you know 90 or 100 000 boards board games card games all of that uh this is 22 overall number one in the customizable category yes number one thematic number 10 super thematic i guess but customizable this is like over like marvel champions like this is this like crazy blew up like look how fast that has shot up yeah that's crazy but we got netrunner i don't know why summoner wars in there i guess that was good is that writer still going uh no but that's how awesome that runner is like it still stays at number three and yeah there's like a fan community that we're making cards for it just like some of the other lcgs but yeah that game was so popular wow that that that spawn that like making more lcgs like that's when we're like man we gotta we're printing money over here cool but they lost that license because that is a that's a wizards of the coast uh who create magic on that one and that was like supposedly when they started the key forge thing with richard garfield that's when uh wizards of slash hasbro i think it's hasbro that owns them was like uh yeah you can't have our netrunner license anymore if you're gonna go after our you know magic uh audience with key forge get out of here okay supposedly that's that's all rumors and speculation but that's that's supposedly what i heard was going down uh because it was like really weird timing like it was basically they lost a license like right after they showed off key forget like an industry event and supposedly at that event it was like cut cut it like they cut cut it they don't we're not renewing it with them like they're they're messing with us yeah look at all these customizable games that it is higher than like this crazy yeah that's crazy like x-wings in there nut runners in there lord of the rings yeah but anyways i just want to see but yeah well all right that runner is coming back re-reloading oh but though it'll be like someone else wizard of the coast and probably be a booster pack kind of game not like an lcg format so you'll be chasing rares and secondary market and that kind of stuff yeah star wars 2. yes dan unfortunately sorry sorry you may be hunting down this one also i'm sorry uh because it's good solo it's recommended solo and it's it's on bgg two players like the like best with two player but like very highly recommended solo and it's true solo i think right someone can correct me in the chat but i think this game is true solo like you build one deck like uh marvel champions i'm pretty sure i forgot to even like sure as well yeah i forgot to even like really think about it because uh yeah we were playing on playing this together like from the start so i never thought about building true solo decks but yeah minecraft says yes okay yeah perfect okay perfect uh then you guys are gonna see me playing this on the channel at some point solo too then yeah that's awesome okay perfect yeah so i can build like a solo focus deck okay cool awesome all right let's talk about our decks segway all right if you're curious about the decks i've linked them down in the video description let's see if we can get this up here all right so i'm using these decks i just net decked a couple decks as i if you guys have followed before with lcgs uh i love to play them i'm not a fan of sitting there spreading out the card pool on the table even though we have a small card pool uh i i know there's the knowledge of the hive mind that is already using a website here like arkham db again link in the video description uh this is the roland bank deck we're playing the two recommended starter uh investigators roland and wendy i'm playing roland mel's playing wendy we're just we're just we just went basic so we played the game with the single core set tried that out like the rules suggested and then we're like right after that we're like hooked we're like let's play a campaign i'm again opening the second core set we're building decent decks i'm going to quickly find some onlines we want to play and uh thank you to uh i guess in the farming community this game is really popular uh so uncle george the farmer here uh posted a structure deck series so uh in the right up here super good write up lots of good comments which is pretty cool even recommends like your update upgrade route yeah which is awesome um which is cool so this helps out for a new player getting in this game like yeah i played lord of the rings i played marvel yeah i played other lcgs being on one of these db sites reading read ups and understanding things it's second nature it's really nice so i went right here right away and it's a pull from other people's knowledge but what he did here was put a bunch of these decks together to help help new players get started based on the investigator starter decks so those investigator starter decks that came out that yes are hard to find i can't get them i would love to have them um so what they he wanted to do knowing that stuff was out of stock to help new players kind of build a starter level deck out of just two core sets so i obviously filtered by i just owned two corsets show me some decks with rollin show me some decks and this one has like 306 likes on it and it was built you know in the last year or something so i thought you know like i'm gonna i'm gonna try this one out uh so the if you're interested in reading up the write up or knowing what cards are in the deck and you want to have it open in a different tab or read about it later or you're curious what's in our deck and want to help us with the upgrade path we do later feel free at the end of this episode based on the experience we earn which is kind of cool with this game uh we can buy uh different cards and add them to our deck and take other cards out so that like is a huge draw to me yeah the campaign play in this like light years ahead of marvel champions i was super let down by the campaign expansion that game was such a lame campaign i thought they were gonna like you know learn from what they did in this game and like improve but then i realized like wait it's the marvel license it's more lighter it's not like you know it's comic kind of movie audience you know like they're trying to pull in non-gamers into the game so they don't want to make it too complex i think uh this is more aimed at the like hardcore ffg gamer book reader kind of like you know i i don't know how to say it but like it's like the more gamer gamer i think it's right more advanced i think i'm just assisting that's what i would say based on playing yeah that's my assumption so that's kind of let down by the that but i'm glad to see they do this kind of stuff here so uh we also have the wendy deck linked down in the video description like i said uh thank you again to uncle george the farmer uh on but yes again nice write up in here uh recommended upgrade paths lots of answering people's questions yeah great comments i read through all of it yeah i love i love when people take the time to like do this stuff i like i appreciate you very much as you're doing what i can and you save me tons of time and i can have fun playing the game and sometimes people recommend cards in here that i read the first time and i'm like well kind of lame i don't get it but then they recommend a card and then in the write-up they describe how the card works with other cards and then my mind is blown and then that's how i get to experience i i learn better by doing it uh so i this is the way i like it it kind of by netdecking i find it it forces me to use cards i may have not put in a deck if i was building it from scratch which i like i'm not ashamed to say a netdeck i pre i value my time uh and i get these games i love the gameplay of these games the deck building is fun and i like tweaking and like customizing and i think it's cool but building a deck from scratch it's a skill i just don't have very well i don't think and i'll be honest but yeah okay uh so they're there in case anyone's curious see dancing a good first buy would be returned to the night of the zealot expansion it has a few upgrades and give diversity into series actually everything i read uh says stay away from the return to boxes as a new player until you've gotten the like uh other stuff but i know that's just for the base set so that would work and i did see that in stock but it's also like a price gouge item where you're paying 40 for basically a box of air and like a tiny stack of cards and some dividers i mean to some that might be good but like i i think it's like overpriced storage solution to be honest uh because i i know what the nightmare decks are from lord of the rings and it's similar to those nightmare decks which were fine but they were trying to sell me a box on the side for 30 dollars a cardboard box with some art on it which i thought was kind of lame so like i see why those products are all in stock because a lot of people aren't getting you know aren't aren't falling for that uh but hey if you got the money and you want to store all your campaign separate and i might end up doing that in the future but i don't think that's a recommendation for a first product to grab daniel to be honest everything i saw about it i did watch a lot of reviews on the different products i've been reading up on the game trying to find out you know based on what's available why are certain things available and then you start reading like certain things are difficult the gameplay is messy the theme is not there and some of the expansions that's why some of them are still in stock people aren't grabbing them up or they don't have great player cards we saw this happen in thrones where people buy multiple copies of of uh packs just because they had great cards in them and stuff but yeah there is also and i don't know if you were planning on talking about it but there's some chat about the books and the novellas yeah we have one uh those are awesome yes i bought one mel's reading the jenny barnes one right now we found one at our local game store and i was like it has cards in it which i will not buy it's because it has cards in it no no but i wanted to read i like this theme and i wanted to yeah we love manchester madness okay i like manchester united i like the theme of it i like cthulhu theme yeah uh so i thought that was a cool way that ffge i've bought in their art books and stuff in the past um so it's cool to see they have like novellas for this game and stuff and we have a local game store that has a couple of them in stock so mel grabbed one just to see what they were just wanted to read it through and see so yeah we have the jenny barnes alternate art character with a couple like uh unique cards or whatever but uh to be to be seen on the channel if we ever get the expansions with jenny barnes cards in it and stuff and we can use them yeah i know we can use it right now because you can use like just swapper with corset yeah yeah then you're pretty much playing like the exact same i don't know i don't think the carpool is good for that but i think once we get the expansion she's in you'll have some other cards that work with her maybe better i don't know but yeah well it's twin 45 so yeah yeah yeah i'm excited to read motor backstory for sure i haven't i just started it comes and done which legacy so that's the first box yeah yeah that's the first box okay so that's what we'll be getting next i saw that's in stock so again if you guys you know hit that like button share this video with whatever groups or i don't know where the arkham horror fans are hiding i'm sure they're on facebook just like every other lcg you're in there's subreddits and stuff i'll find you guys later but um yeah if you guys want to share this get on that for sure for this one uh kate when you mentioned it already we already had those decks netdecked like you know learning them and playing with them and i didn't want to start changing up stuff because you know i just want to play and not not fumble on cards that i don't know um and try to you know show off the game as best i can without stumbling as much um but yes for future campaigns we'll get kate to build some decks yep we'll get you guys picking our characters we play and we'll play through some campaigns live you can help us make option choices we'll do that here too yeah uh on the cthulhu mythos uh from hp lovecraft a racist author from the 1920s or something uh this stuff became uh for those who don't know it's like what's that called when something is like open domain or whatever and anyone can use the license so ffg took it they have tons of games in this line so you'll see similar characters similar art to other games like manchester madness we've played on the channel before uh arkham horror final hour uh there's arkham horror the board game that exists you'll see art from that public domain that's it so john thank you uh yeah so so the lovecraft mythos horror that this guy came up with uh is used nowadays there's a show recently on hbo uh lovecraft country very good uh yeah very good show very good show where they do a twist on it uh it's awesome yeah it was very good awesome uh but yeah there's books there's stories there's movies or shows that all use this horror theme with cthulhu you guys know the cool mini or not game come on game we've been playing cthulhu death me die on the channel which will be playing more of that it's all that same world and that same theme for those that don't know this is a living card game what that means it's not a collectible card game a ccg with like booster packs that are randomized so there's no there's no real secondary market per se of like chasing down single cards uh because when you buy an expansion pack you get usually uh two copies of each card so enough to build with and you know what is in the pack you're buying so it's like set distribution uh so that's what a living card game is and it's living because it constantly in theory when they announce a new game they save a monthly releases but to anyone who's played an lcg or a fantasy playgames product uh yeah that means you know after the core set drops in monthly releases will start but then there's always delays for some reason at the beginning uh for like multiple months before the first pack drops and then after the first cycle is done there's like a three month break where you're like where the hell's the next cycle ffg and then there's a giant break and players leave the game and go find other new shiny things to follow and you lose players and drives me nuts uh so yeah in theory there's monthly releases this game's been out for five years though so there is a crap ton of expansions yeah there is promo stuff there is side stuff from from conventions there is mythos packs scenario packs deluxe boxes whatever those are called uh campaign boxes i think in this one um but yeah and there's the core set so we're playing with just core set content today but as recommended we bought two core sets so that we would have uh two of every single card yes you'll have extra cardboard that you'll be wasting that you won't need because there's a lot of duplicated stuff but they made a lot of cards single on this one uh for each faction or build type uh yeah i saw that barcum horror thing when they posted on the website i was like man what are the fans of this game drinking why is this dog on the cover of this car this this back i don't even want to know what's happening in that community but i thought it's hilarious but anyways we'll play that eventually too i saw that exist if we can find it um but yeah uh so yeah um so it's based on that theme uh we are investigators you pick an investigator you build a deck so this is a not a deck building game but it's a you build your deck before sitting at the table and as you play through uh the campaign you'll earn experience and you'll be able to buy cards from your collection and spend experience points to either upgrade cards to the same card but a higher level version of it which might be more efficient or just buying different cards and putting them in your deck but you always have to replace cards and stay at a specific number of cards in your deck so for example roland banks uh has deck building restrictions on the back and a little story but his deck size is 30. so it always has to have 30 cards in it but there are some required cards like roland's 38 special a weakness cover-up and a random basic weakness which we'll grab in a second that do not count towards the 30. but when i'm done setting this up we will i'll have 33 cards in my deck so if i add a card when i'm purchasing cards between the campaign scenarios which you'll see at the end of the stream and you guys will help us buy cards for the next uh stream which is tomorrow um yeah we'll be spending experience we'll take cards out as we put cards in so it's kind of cool each investigator has their own deck on restrictions so i can only have guardian cards level zero to five seeker cards which is another faction zero to two and neutral cards is level zero to five so all my cards in here right now are level zero you have to own you build your deck to start it all has level zero cards in it unless you're doing the crazy variant stuff that is is included in the rule books where you can take an investigator from a previous campaign who has like wounds and weaknesses all this crap and upgraded cards and you can take them on to another campaign if you want we're playing with fresh characters but there's lots of different play variants of this game which is cool uh we have specific stats so we do lots of skill checks and if you played manchester madness and i'm assuming arkham horror eldritch or any of those other fft games elder sign whatever uh it's a thing in this world to be like rpg-ish with the skill check stuff so in this game we have willpower intellect uh fight for combat uh and agility so when we're doing certain tests uh you know like uh stuff's coming off the um encounter encounter deck like treacheries and these kind of things similar to lord of the rings uh you'll be doing like willpower checks most likely to stop yourself from taking horror which can make you go insane so very similar to those other kind of games and we have a health value so everybody has different values and you have an ability so you could do tests also to find clues to fight and to run away from monsters so the general gist of this game from a very simplified high level is we are investigators trying to find clue tokens again they can change per scenario but in general the game is about finding clues which are these green tokens either doom counters i think on the other side um we're trying to find clues at locations to progress the story before the agenda deck uh you know advances itself so we're trying to advance our act deck using clues usually faster than the game advances the agenda deck which is bad and we don't really know what the goal is and the goal can change kind of based on hidden information on the backs of these cards based on us advancing and we may get in certain weird situations um yeah and the other thing is not just finding clues but also fighting and evading monsters those are like the core things in the game finding clues dealing with monsters that's it that's from a simplified view that's really all this game is about yep all it's about similar i guess marvel champions is just like dealing with minions and fighting a villain right that's really the two thing if you like really look at that game that's it and lord of the rings you're dealing with a threat ah yes which here yes we're dealing with no no this is the yeah yeah the floor it's always a threat thing yeah yeah uh like in lord of the rings same thing right like there's uh you're trying to and that get progress right and it's similar to clues and progress locations and you know push through the story uh sometimes fast uh and complete it so all right uh this is not our first time playing this is our second time playing first time on camera yeah first time on stream we played it once to learn the game so we played through this campaign we won't talk about what we saw we'll just play through here and see what happens we will make your guys will make the choices for us uh again carts can come up different uh we haven't seen all the options and things that will happen this is it's fairly replayable i think based on like just going to find the resolution of each thing based on the numbers we saw it's like oh there's this many options i kind of see but i didn't read them any of them on purpose so uh so yeah we're still new so feel free to chime in like i said earlier for those are just tuning in if you notice we're goofing up on a card we're playing it wrong or have misread something feel free to character which is like a horrible card some worse than others uh oh this is a bad one so this is a basic weakness in a core set comes with 10 of them a couple of them have two copies you'd use one set of these and everyone at the table as long as you're playing from the same collection we'll draw one of these at random and put it in your deck okay you know what it is it's in your deck but it's in your deck now for the whole campaign and yes you can get others of these put in your deck throughout a campaign and maybe have them removed from your deck i don't know but supposedly that can happen i don't know if it's in this campaign or other campaigns but that was something that was explained to me um but yeah so as you saw that last one could just discard all your resources so we'll talk about the ones we got and we'll talk about others but so the one i got oh i hate this one so much yeah that's annoying let me tell you something in card games my favorite thing is drawing and having a crap ton of cards in hand so i can't barely hold them okay aims the card limits it's fine this one is an eight card limit to your hand uh that you check at the end of the turn but you got as many cards you want during it i love card draw i love options i love having a whole hand of cards but man seeing this one and this one i've drawn every single time i think uh that i've played this game and you choose and discard even when i was like learning the start scenario but choose and discard all but one card from your hand so hopefully i see this like when i'm sitting there with like no cards in hand or one card in hand yeah but just knowing this is my deck it tenses the crap out of me and and i'm worried about ever holding things in hand they're trying to build up to something yeah because you're going to lose it because yeah oh could be worse could be worse i i don't know i don't know there's one where you could lose all your resources too yeah that's what i had of course those two these two that i think are the garbage this discard all uh your resources or discard all your cards there's two copies of each in that pile of ten cards so it's more likely you're gonna get one of those uh but yeah that's fun okay so i got oh ryan's here hey right i got a stubborn detective oh better than losing all your resources or your cards i think he's a humanoid and a detective prey is bearer only so i'm assuming that's moving that means he comes engaged with you yeah he has a three-fight value so if you want to fight him you have to successfully test three or higher on a combat or fight yeah he has two health and the middle value there the right value is agility so if you want to exhaust him and run away from him you gotta pass an agility test of two yeah and while he's at your location treat your investigator as if his or her printed text box were blank except for traits any deals one damage to you if you try to do any other actions besides fight evade um parlay or resign yeah so true my text box which is this yeah right okay that's not the worst but i'm not a fighter so true but you can invade him and run from him yeah but then he's a hunter so he's gonna follow me yeah and he'll go after you when there's a tie yeah but if i'm closest he'll come after me yeah like you know he just goes after the closest but if there's a tie he'll go by his prey value that's okay uh so i am an agency detective i'm the fed rolling banks so after you defeat an enemy so this is a reaction ability here you can discover one clue at your location limit once per round and then uh this little star effect is based on tokens we pull randomly from a bag so there's no dice in this game there is no uh attack modifier decks the equivalent is a bag of tokens uh which we'll set up based on difficulty uh in a second here and then that effect so if i draw that one in like 15 or 16 token i get plus one for each clue at my location so the more clues on the location my guy is chilling at uh the better that result will be and i have nine health and five damage mel who are you playing i am playing oops sorry i'm playing wendy adams she has four willpower three intellect one combat for agility she's a drifter and has the um ability when you reveal a chaos token choose and discard one card from your hand cancel the chaos token and return it to the bag reveal a new chaos token limit once per test slash ability if i draw the star my effect is plus zero if wendy's amulet is in play you automatically succeed instead i believe that star is actually called an elder sign thanks if i'm correct if i remember correctly that's what i think it's called based on other cuthula games and stuff i bet there's one card in the core box that confused rob but he couldn't find it what the hell are you talking about i lifted up the insert there was no hidden cards how am i missing a card it's probably some sort of joke but we're not getting it i don't think we're missing a card yet and we played through the whole thing is there were there printings that were missing yeah lee to this one right this one you're talking about yeah what about her was she not in certain printings i understand that from other uh ffg products they'll print things in in stacks and kind of just separate them into the baggies however many cards will fit in one of those little standard baggies with the blue sticker on them and sometimes yes they break up a set of cards so in this game i think maybe players assumed one bag was player cards one bag was encounter cards yeah cards and i guess this was but when i open those here's how i open ffg stuff i literally just like open those bags take all the cards and i stack them in one stack and then i just sort them all out on the table because i know stuff like weird stuff like that happens but yeah that's funny that's funny oh wow so were people like deck building with this then like you know what i mean like were people putting this card in their deck maybe oh thinking it's like a neutral card yeah and like oh i'll play with this in my deck and then we're like i can't find her now that i need to set up the scenario and it's like i don't know maybe that's kind of funny that's funny okay okay lena needs their own t-shirts yes i bought this stupid card game and all i got was this game of trying to find leta but i have two leaders because we bought two core sets i have double the chance of finding her yeah so maybe that was it too yeah that's why ffg gets you to buy two core sets so just in case you lose lead in one box yeah find out a sec first okay so setting up the game all these steps choose investigator each uh player choose a different investigator and place that investigator card done take trauma damage or horror in campaign play if you are defeated or there's other ways you could take permanent loss to health or your sanity before you start the next scenario that's what that's all about we need to choose one of these investigators to be the lead investigator i want you guys to vote in the chat do we want roland or wendy to be the lead investigator and it doesn't matter for story and stuff but it is the person who breaks ties i think uh or or gets to do choices and stuff if you ever have something that you you know they're also a person that starts turn order yeah drop a roland or a wendy in the chat and we'll just go with the majority um i'm curious how that yeah that could make things different um then we're gonna assemble and shuffle the investigator decks sure the token pool so we're gonna do that now uh or we did that sorry the chaos bag is what we need to do now and in in the campaign mode sorry the chaos bag is gonna be assembled once at the beginning and we'll use that bag throughout and yes tokens can be changed in it throughout a campaign and then we'll draw our we'll get five resources and draw five cards okay i'll do this well if you give a five resources to each of us uh the test a skill test you have to spend cards and that kind of thing to make sure your skill test value is above what you need to do to pass um so yeah so we're we're gonna go based on how you guys voted we're gonna we're gonna set up this bag right now and this bag sticks with us through the next three episodes uh which is cool and it may modify based on campaign choices and stuff uh all ian right manchester venice but okay and then we got and the elder sign which is good this one's good you want to see this one this is like specific to your character this is the one that has a cool ability uh to give you extra successes but uh depending on the scenario depending on the scenario the the tokens change what they do which i think is super clever so the skulls in this one and there are other tokens that we're not even using that you will see in different scenarios but the skulls are minus two if you fail after the skill test search the encounter deck and discard pile for a ghoul traded enemy and draw it shuffle the encounter deck if we see the cultist token you gotta reveal another token uh if you fail take two oh sorry this is on the hard side we're playing on this side oh whoa i never i didn't even know there was a second side okay sorry we're on this side wrong side wrong yeah sorry panic no panic everyone we got it breathe breathe we're okay i know i start reading and i'm like i've never seen these abilities before what is going on i didn't even realize them uh so easy and standard you play with this side so this is what's cool you can up the difficulty so it gets even worse i thought it was just the bag change i didn't realize what the tokens did it gets worse so all those voters to play on standard uh it's just some token changes basically i think uh because the abilities are the same so minus x to the test x is the number of google enemies at your location if we draw a skull if we draw a cultist uh minus one if you fail take a horror and the tablet or tombstone or whatever minus two and if there's a ghoul enemy at your location take one damage okay so that just sits out here reminding us that's what those tokens do again they're different for i guess even the same scenario they're diff different based on difficulty level which just blew my mind yeah that's awesome all right uh what else from setup do we have to do i just don't want to miss anything he's in the bag oh yeah you do that there's nothing in the bag yeah there's no there's no plus sevens in the bag i didn't stuff the bag it was all a joke okay but if anyone has any custom printed like plus five send them on over to me yeah that won't be suspicious at all plus five plus five people like what we're just like plus five and like just do it it's like it's like a white token with like uh like magic mark like permanent marker like written all funny on it it doesn't even look like it fits with the game what what plus five what's the problem or automatic pass you win all right uh so we need to draw our opening hands so i'm gonna do a little shuffling uh just cause i reset my deck after a last play took out some cards obviously that we got from leveling up but i sorted out the deck so it needs a little little bit of breaking up i did shuffle a little bit earlier but just want to make sure and you guys will see cards as we draw them we'll talk about certain cards in the game for those who don't know how it works but literally we're drawing cards we have card types are assets which are cards you can pay and play and uh down on the table uh they give you like ongoing abilities or some of them attached to cards as you've seen in every other card game that exists attachments kind of thing but they're just assets but they'll tell you to attach there's events so you'll play event cards from your hand to do one time abilities they go to your discard pile every card game has that and then you have skill cards which are kind of clever and unique to this game so for a skill test i'll just show you a card here while i'm shuffling so this card for example is an asset i could play two to put it into play then it gives me these free actions on the bottom that are kind of free as they don't cost me an action on the turn but i have to spend a resource and i can add a value to a skill test okay but if you notice here on the left there is symbols that match some of those skill tests so on a skill test i can spend cards out of hand like dual use and use them uh for that i can spend them to add value to a skill test and i ignore the rest of the stuff on a card so every card in your deck is pretty much dual use but there is skill cards i should probably have there are skill cards like this one that literally are not put into play they're not played like an event they're actually played only on skill tests and they tell you it's a skill card up here uh and this one you can play it on an intellect test and then it has a little ability that goes along with the skill test so if this skill test was successful while you're investing in a location you discover one additional clue at the location okay so those are like the three card types there are weaknesses uh that you saw us put in the deck that are bad when we draw them we have to reveal them and do the ability on them we have a basic weakness and then our each deck has one that comes in that's specific to our deck as well so we do have two weeks yeah which is kind of cool each investigator is like has something that's unique to them like some kind of item and then a weakness card that goes along with their story and stuff and that's what i think is cool about those novellas is that the uh investigators you get in those novellas they're like alternate art versions of the the other characters so the abilities are the same on their base card and they just have alternate art based on the art and the book but then the weakness and the uh asset or skill card or whatever that they come with that's unique to them is something that's from that story from their origin story which is really cool so for example we have the jenny barnes one so you could play the jenny barnes from you guys were saying the dunwich legacy cycle who she's you know at a certain point and has certain skills and does her own kind of thing but then you could play the jenny barnes version from the novella story uh that has a different flavor to her i guess kind of still has the same base ability though but it's cool though yeah it's just neat and same stats too but just two diff two unique cards i think it's a neat little twist i like that okay uh so now we're gonna draw five cards for opening hand what one thing i was gonna say and i don't know if you wanna mention is that we may talk about our cards a little bit more than maybe you should right because of streaming i know this will happen this happens to us in gloomhaven videos we still get comments to this day that we're a bunch of cheaters because uh we talk too much about strategy and whatnot when we're picking cards in gloomhaven this has kind of a similar rules to it glue maven you're allowed to talk about general strategy and stuff you're just not allowed to say like specific card names numbers you know uh you know words on the card kind of thing and get too gamey with it this has those same kind of rules it tells you to kind of role play it any kind of hidden information so certain cards all get to look at i'm not supposed to really show you your hand should be private to you i shouldn't know anything about your hand you shouldn't know anything about my hand for example if i'm doing a combat test and i'm like mel could you you know i i would love to have two extra fight do you even have two extra fight mel before i even do this test you're not allowed to say like yes i have two or i only have one or i have this card in hand you're supposed to say like i can help you i can help you if you do it but that's that's all i can tell you like you know i i you have to be general with it it's a kind of role play but playing on stream for us to stay silent and play that game with an audience watching we're going to be a little more open with it because there are people are going to be watching this who want to a learn the game a little bit uh and or decide if they want to buy the game and see how to how it just generally works so i'm just putting out there as like a disclaimer you're supposed to kind of be like more role play and kind of secret but we're playing we're going to be more open-handed talking about stuff as we play it may make it a little easier too because we'll be like you know like you will see i have cards in hand because like i'm literally playing with them on camera right so there's like i'm not going to sit here like this the whole time like i i can play this or this like with with you guys and then if i play something rob would know i still have the other card i didn't play oh yes we will get comments and all people say it guys stop you know you're talking too much you're breaking the the intent of the game the rules of the game but like it's your game you play it how you want so whatever and there's no money on the line here there's not a tournament there's no judges uh but we have an audience watching so we're gonna play a little more open uh but we do know that exists so you don't need to you know get angry in the comments calling us straight up cheaters we you can call us users for other reasons but but not for that yes we gave you the warning but not for that that's how we'll play yeah yes yeah all right that's how it works on live streams all right okay so we can now mulligan and any weaknesses so i did get a weakness yeah i got a weakness too so if you draw a weakness uh when you're drawing your starting cards you just set it aside and you draw a replacement right i think you draw a replacement oh do you yeah i'm pretty sure so that you're choosing from five legit oh i see i see yes then from those five cards you can choose any ones you want to set aside and then fill back up to five like a one-time mulligan uh and they tell you in the book to kind of like look for assets kind of have stuff you're trying to build up your character uh with stuff to prepare them for the worst so for those who are curious who know the cards i got dynamite blast here unexpected courage guts flashlight and an event called dodge uh so dynamite blast i'm probably gonna toss it because it costs five you start with five resources yes but i have no enemies in play right now that i know of because i played this before but in general like this is the card i want to kind of play later when enemies have built up you can deal three damage to any investigator or enemy at my location or an adjacent location uh for five a little pricey i kind of want to see that later so i kind of want them all get mulligan uh unexpected courage this is one of those skill cards this is like the best skill card because it has that little question mark symbol which is a wild which means i can use it on any test for two points and when we're in a skill test uh if you're at the same location if mel and i are the same all right sorry if roland and wendy are at the same location uh and i'm doing a skill chest test or skill check or whatever i can play as many cards as i want that have the matching symbols to that test but but any other player at the same location so you're playing two three four player uh they can commit one card from their hand for their symbols also um but again this because it's a skill card also has an ability on it this one is a limiting one max one committed per skill test so i can't play this and you can't play this on the same test so even if you're playing a single card in my test and i've played this one you can also play this one very versatile card yeah yeah it's very powerful that's what that's the drawback yeah uh yeah i feel like this is a keep yeah i feel like it's a keep but again you guys let me know in the chat your thoughts who have played this for a while i could be way off on this again we've only played like i think four sessions total like learning the game in the the starting scenario and then playing this campaign one time through i haven't even seen all the cards be played some of the cards i save and then they get ripped out of your hand and stuff so i don't even get to use them so annoying but that's how it goes i also got another skill card called guts this one uh it's good for the will power stuff uh max one committed per skill test if it's successful you draw a card stay back i can i'll handle this uh okay and then a flashlight which is like yeah i'm gonna take that i think uh it's two uh it's an asset i put it down it gets uses so it'll get three tokens on it that you can use this three times uh there are certain assets that have hand slots amulet slots um companion slots there is a limit uh and if they don't have a symbol you have as many as you want so this will take up one hand slot uh and i could i can spend one of my three actions on a turn to investigate my location it gets minus two shroud which that just means the test i'm doing to try to get clue tokens off of it uh it reduces that value i'm trying to test against uh but it's very powerful and it's cheap i start with five resources i think it's something i want to get and play i don't even see any other weapons in hand right now i'd like to have something played down as an asset uh so that's the only asset i have uh yeah it is uh or i have this event dodge which i've never actually played for its ability i only played for tests but i could be using it wrong it's fast and fast means it doesn't cost an action uh so when i play it it's always one of my actions and i i basically can you know block an enemy attack so it's like a defensive card but i don't really care i want a gun i want a gun so i want to mulligan a little hard i feel like i want roland's 38 special or the 45 that are in the deck again if you want to know what cards are in these decks right now uh the links are down in the video description over to arkham db we netdect uh a couple decks they are in there if you guys want to read information on the decks or look at the deck list while we're playing for those who join late uh you can go check them out there and you can help us with our upgrade paths later um so yeah check that out i would ditch everything except the flashlight yes yeah yeah yeah okay that's that's yeah yeah i don't know i like i like keeping these because like tests happen right like even like you know first round of the game you're drawing crap off the deck but again these aren't like they're just going to sit in my hand until those times but yeah i think that i'll go with that that makes sense okay so i'll draw four new car there we go 45 automatic all right and oh bro i got rollins 30 and special and 45 automatic got another unexpected courage and a vicious blow the vicious blow basically helps me uh do some extra damage on attacks i'll see those tests uh 45 automatic it's some for ammo uses i can use it to fight increase my fight value doing some extra damage uh rolling 38 special love it if there's clues at my location i can increase my test by three deal some extra damage this is my unique card that only goes in my deck ever uh i don't know which one i'd probably play the cheaper one first i would think but i literally can play both at some point when i have the resources because they each just take up one hand slot so i've never done it yet but in theory i could dual wield which is pretty cool okay uh so these will get shuffled back in my deck so you can go ahead so i first to start we got two of my leo de luca so i'm definitely mulligan gonna mulligan one of them i definitely want to keep one getting him out early i think is good being able to get extra actions as long as we don't just have to um discard him for any reason i'm going to keep the amulet because this is a huge huge part of my strategy on my deck so we're going to keep that um i'm going to discard and mulligan this leather coat we'll we don't really need that we're looking for some other stuff that's better and this one is a questionable i'm thinking about keeping it this is uh helps with my agility gives me to my skill and then if i'm successful in a skill test i can draw a card so i have some good pieces already if i keep that yeah like it makes me feel so much better yeah like i love when you have that card yeah same um so i'm thinking about keeping these three oh you mel kate would mulligan it okay okay then i'll mulligan that one yeah let the chat drive these two yeah yeah yeah feel free to chime in guys in those three and then that was my treasury so that it's just all gonna get put back in uh no not yet sorry one two three so we got oh this is good okay so we got an uh overpower which will just give me some combat which is good we got hard knocks i can use it to spend resources i can get extra combat or i can get an extra agility which is good i love this card so it's an event uh look what i found i can play it after i fail a test uh by two or less and i can discover two clues at my location so i feel like i have a pretty decent hand happening right now so i see some uh discussion going up in the chat there uh so we didn't really talk about it yet but my investigator we did talk about his ability but my guy is a guardian the blue class there's like five classes in the game like factions colors whatever every card game has the same thing you get like the color pie and then you divide up mechanics in specialties into each slice color of the pie with the blue class that i have and i also can pull in from the yellow class the seekers i have yellow cards in here to help me with clues but also in general i'm the fighter guy i'm the one who is gonna use weapons i'm gonna deal damage i'm gonna fight monsters is my thing uh hence my for combat value i don't really run from monsters i can't invade monsters that well my agility sucks but i'm good at fighting and i'm pretty decent at like the clue gathering and the dealing preventing horror the horrors of my weakness though cause like i'm low on willpower and my my hor my sanity or whatever's super low so that's like the one that scares me and i feel bad playing this character if this was manchester madness i would have not even touched this character i want a seven and seven like i want this yeah okay but we were just playing with the tutorial guys this is the only guy i've ever played so far i just want to keep it you know clean while we play this first on stream with less experimentation um but yeah that his deal is fighting and that's how he gets clues once per turn but i have cards in the deck like flashlight you saw to help with clue gathering but wendy her whole thing is uh she is uh all about evading monsters she's really good at agility she sucks at fighting uh and she's got the good uh willpower so she'll get less sanity hopefully hitting her a little less horror and she's okay at the clue hunting there but she has other abilities uh she has more cars that are related to clue gathering yeah but she's the evader i'm the fighter that's how we deal with our monsters but we both have some good clue gathering stuff but wendy i think has a little more clue gathering but you gotta take your roles and kind of play to your strengths and try to build your deck to cover your weaknesses but again we're only playing with two core sets we can only do so much i'm sure there's cards later we can help level out some of these guys or play different uh investigators from the guardian class for example that maybe do different things but uh but yeah mullen is one of the solid true soul investigators rob is he really oh well i guess because yeah cause he can't fight can you do anything yeah yeah yeah yeah that seems well-rounded okay yeah even to this day kate again i've never looked at any other investigator in the outside i haven't even looked at the other ones in the course that that closely i haven't at all uh we're still newbies but i would assume they made more solo focus ones later that's usually how this stuff works is ffg right they kind of fill it in wow okay i'm impressed so you guys are going to see roland on the channel more than i guess i didn't realize that okay cool all right uh okay i think actually we can do it on the screen [Music] the ghouls hunger friday september 18th 1925 arkham massachusetts it's the end of a long and abnormally hot summer the first hints of autumn beckon but a heavy heat persists relentless a silent unspoken anger grips the town tempers are short and in the last week alone there have been numerous reports of townspeople coming to heated violent blows with one another over simple misunderstandings and now a call from james hankerson he claims to have found a dismembered body in his barn oh poor james uh blaming the weather would be too easy there is something wrong with this town and not a whole lot this old soothsayer can do to stop the slide my uh okay mouse bagger and this is why i should have done this all right be right back [Music] whoops all right uh my auguries indicate a small group of investigators will soon take note of these strange happenings and set forth to make things right i'll be watching the progress but i won't be holding my breath all right so this is called the night of the zealot campaign uh that's a little intro on the front of this book uh i'm actually not going to bring this up i'm going to do it uh so you guys can't see it for spoiler reasons okay yeah because it does show like some of the outcomes and stuff like right on the page okay uh so yeah so yeah you guys can't see that look how tiny that is no way all right uh so yeah so we're supposed to read uh the gathering so we have a campaign log yes if you want to show that which you probably didn't write on yet did you nope was i supposed to oh i can fill it up so they give this campaign log you can print these out on ffg's website but they are on the back of this book you know like they couldn't give you a pad of those either come on man um but yeah they give you this on the back of the book like you're going to play this campaign one time and throw it away on there or i guess photocopy this like who's got a photocopier come on man but anyways i guess you could take a picture of your phone and cloud print and all that anyways but uh yeah so we have this paper uh that we're gonna fill out with our investigators you record your experience on here your trauma uh assets and weaknesses that you've added to your deck which campaigns you've done any investigators are killed any notes during the campaign that will matter in future uh future scenarios so we'll be recording stuff on the side on that just you guys know there is a campaign log to use uh which i'm all about all right part one the gathering you and your partners have been investigating the strange events taking place in your home city of arkham massachusetts massachusetts i can't say that word ever but i know i've heard it a thousand times but i can't say it anyways over the past few weeks several towns people have mysteriously gone missing recently their corpses turned up in the woods savaged and half-eaten the police and newspapers have stated that wild animals are responsible but you believe there's something else going on you are gathered together at the lead investigators home to discuss these bizarre events so we're at wendy's house hey we're at wendy's house we're discussing these weird events have been happening so it tells you to gather up a bunch of cards that you're going to build this deck with and these cards in your box okay so we've shuffled just wanted to give a little shuffle to this deck here uh we set aside this ghoul priest so there's this ghoul priest monster and lita chandler who is some kind of npc uh we're setting off to the side it tells us get those out of those decks of cards put them off to the sides and uh we found leta okay we have leta we can continue the stream all right um shuffle the remainder of the encounter cards make the deck okay we did that that's it that's it that's all all that's in this little book to get you started everything else is read it when we get to that point and yes wendy serving snacks i didn't know people were coming but um well yeah maybe it's not i guess not well doesn't have a clever response right there man i'm sorry no i don't i tried i tried but anyways all right uh so we're gonna read this is the like bad deck so on like you guys know marvel champions those who do uh or in in lord of the rings has it too right the whole uh what's it called or am i mixing that up but anyways the like the threat deck or whatever yeah it's like that so this is like the bad deck that will get counters on it once this one hits three counters you will advance it to the other side and read what's on the other side and go to the next one we don't want this deck to progress this is like the bad one okay this is agenda side okay bad side over here with encounter cards good side-ish there's not really good in this game there's no good in these these arkham horror games that i found but this is like the player one that you're trying to advance this is the act deck okay so we're racing against the game who's trying to advance this and we're trying to push hard and advance this okay in general you spend clue tokens uh to advance the good one which is two per investigator so it scales based on players but sometimes they might do different things like there might be different ways to advance these decks which is neat okay so we're going to read the agenda what's going on it's late at night you're hold up in your study researching the bloody disappearances that have been taking place in the region a few hours into your research you hear the sound of a strange chanting coming from your parlor down the hall at the same time you hear dirt churning as if some were digging beneath the floor and we're also trapped as you leap to investigate the door to your study vanishes before your eyes leaving behind only a solid wall you're trapped inside your study until you can find another way out so it just turned into an escape room game now so let's start looking for numbers on cards i'm just kidding all right so we're trapped uh we're in the study so locations have two sides they have a locked side which is the back has a little flavor on it and when you go to the location you flip it so we'll flip it in a sec but this one says uh you've been investigating the strange events occurring in arkham for several days now your desk is covered in newspaper articles police reports and witness accounts so because we're both starting in the study boom uh the door to your study has vanished okay so oh man look it's gone see ready oh it's like that on the other side too oh that's lame anyways the door is gone uh so this is like a connection point this goes nowhere so these circles on the bottom are like they'll have colored symbols icons and whatnot to lead you to other locations this is a shroud value this is what you have to test against with your intellect value to try to defeat or win sorry succeed at to get clue tokens we're gonna put two clue tokens per investigator on this location and these are like our little player cards that signal where we are they're like those mini size cards that ffg loves to use uh so the colored side shows that you know you have your turn this is where you are when you're done your turn you kind of flip it over so we can choose who goes in what order and when you're done you just flip it over to the black and white side to know you finish your turn boom all right so four clues on the study that's it so we know we want to advance this deck we just know that general that's how the game works so we need to get four clues there's four clues so we need to get four clues and on our turn uh as a free action on anyone's turn we can spend clues from either of us to total up spend them as a group to advance this uh and we want to do that hopefully we want to race before this gets like three doom counters on it which you'll get a doom counter on it each round so the game normally starts with what's called a mythos phase not sorry the game doesn't start with the rounds in general will start with what's called the mythos phase but you skip that for the first round um you got that uh so you skip that for the first round so we just go into the investigation phase which is like us taking our turns we decide who goes first you can choose anyone it can switch every time you play you'll always be the lead investigator for this session we can change it i think for the next campaign session because it's in the setup of a game to choose your lead investigator so assuming that happens each time you play a session of a campaign you can switch lead investigator because there are jumping in jump out mechanics so you can have investigators and sit out for a scenario if your buddy doesn't play and you can bring new investigators in so i think you can switch the lead investigator every time you sit down for a scenario yeah that makes sense so that's cool yeah yes all right uh so uh i think we're good to just go um is there any reason i don't think it really matters i don't think right now because there's like an old model yeah there's no monsters we're just collecting clues yeah like there's no one for you to like evade first or me to fight first or anything i see so my cards more on camera here um yeah it's just like a prep turn right yeah yeah yeah yeah you okay so like i think i think my opening turn and again we're talking open here we've got viewers watching we're just we're playing this little little loose and open uh i kind of feel like just getting these in play like i don't know if that's good but like i feel like it or do i save flashlights later when we have something that's a little more harder to get clues off of and i want to reduce the shroud but i feel like just reducing it to zero like you still can fail so yeah i don't know i feel like that's kind of a good start but uh that's what i'm gonna do so i'll go first yeah yep and then i'll just spend my five resources get some cards out of hand that may be important uh i like the 38 special uh better than the 45 i think yeah um but i gotta remember i have that weakness in my deck that could come up at any time and just like plow all the cards in my hand except for one so i kind of feel good having one of the guns in play if i'm gonna lose the other one so i'm putting four resource tokens on here let me do it over here on roland's 38 special so it has like four bullets uh then i need three supplies on flashlight so i guess it only has enough battery juice uh for three uses of turning on the flashlight so i didn't i didn't charge the batteries i guess enough in 1920 something yeah yes you know didn't use a battery charger obviously uh and yeah that's uh two actions and my third action so sorry the actions here i should just show this it's easier so i don't forget anything uh but they have this little reference card so the actions you can do on your turn you can do up to three you can do as many of a single one as you want or you know two of one one of the other three different you could draw a card or gain a resource that's one action you can play an asset from your hand which i just did twice that's two of my actions you can activate a little arrow action ability on a card that means it costs something these reactions and squiggly lines here are free they don't cause actions but if the action starts with this it's a paid action okay you can move to a connecting location doesn't exist right now you can investigate your location that's trying to get a clue off of it doing a intellect test you can fight or engage an enemy so engage is basically taking an enemy and putting it in front of you in your threat area to deal with it but you can fight enemies anywhere at your location even if you're engaged with other players and you can attempt to evade which is doing an agility test to try to disengage yourself from the monster so you can run in this game monsters do follow you uh so if you have a monster engaged with you and you move to different locations those monsters stay engaged with you so you have to evade them trip them up they exhaust and then you can run away from them which is super thematic i like that uh but yeah that's what we're doing on our investigation phase right now uh so what i can do i can do an investigate test i'm gonna spend uh one i'm gonna do this action here spend one supply for my flashlight and so my intellect is three i've reduced it this shroud value to zero so i'm literally plus three right now that seems okay i feel like i'm gonna go with that there is something that we learned about this game that was given to us like a tip was the uh plus two rule is kind of like a general rule i don't think it was in the rule book or anything but uh it is something that's like common with this game you're trying to get at least two above your test at standard difficulty yeah i could draw a minus four i could i could hold the red one yeah you could still fail but in general they say like if you're not don't want to waste resources like kind of make sure you're like at least two above what you're trying to achieve yeah generally plus two is good for now yeah it's like a new player kind of like general tip to get started with the game so obviously obviously that changes throughout the scenarios and stuff uh i got a big fat zero nice so i'm three to zero that's a good start obviously i succeeded and the token goes right back in the bag you don't draw it out don't create a discard pile don't throw anything out um yeah it it is oh yeah that's true yeah unless you draw the ten no there we have a minus three is n minus fours in the bag right oh well minus four as well yeah one more word what fail do you get but that's the only thing right now yeah so just two of them or the skull if i were to have like a ton of ghouls in play but obviously that's not the situation right now yeah so there are ways even if you're like you know you've thrown down a ton of cards you can auto fail and stuff so i succeeded so i will take a clue off the location and just throw it on my investigator card that's my three actions i will flip over my little card and he'll go noir skill can't drop below zero oh true yeah yeah sorry i would tie at zero you're right yeah tesla you're right i should have realized that yeah i don't even think about that yeah it doesn't go negative it doesn't go negative you're right yeah that's good to think about yeah yeah minus three would have been a pass i figured that when i was saying it but uh yeah so it's only the red right that would fail me yeah well that's good to know okay so here's what i'm kind of thinking i want to get leo into play as soon as possible getting the extra actions right off the bat is going to be huge so i would need to gain one more resource i also want to get wendy's amulet into play quickly as well um but i think i'm going to do my first action to gain a resource put me to six my second action i will play leo four six two which is all of my resources so he gives me an additional action so i still have one plus my additional action so part of me is tempted to just take two resources to prep for putting out wendy's amulet on the next turn or i would take one and draw a card i could also take one resource and attempt and investigate um yeah maybe i will take one so i'll use my third action for resource that's a ballsy place early says bob yeah cause remember there's cards that could come out and make you discard an asset from play so you gotta be careful with putting out a six cost asset right right away yeah i know oh yeah but i like to take chances i don't know if in this scenario there's the ones that discard assets from play i don't remember if it's like from me yeah yeah i've had to have more in my hands yeah when you put that big expensive gun down you're like yeah i'm ready and then boom yeah you still have ammo on it it's gone i like lost my mind yeah which these games tend to do which is this does a good job of frustrating it does make you crazy um definitely yeah definitely investigate okay so that yeah because i would get my second resource uh later in the turn so i will do an investigate action so i have three on uh i have a three intellect versus two how many cards you wanna play to that uh i have cards but i don't wanna play it to that uh i'll pass on that too oh i drew minus four so um here's where decisions come in um you can rev uh sorry when you reveal a chaos token choose and discard a card from your hand cancel the chaos token and re reveal it add this one back to the bag and reveal a new one but i don't think that's worth it for this situation especially if you have good cards you're trying to save for something good like yeah yeah like you're not being the only thing you're being punished with is losing an action there's no like negative punishment on this skill check right yeah no there's not so for this case i will not do that and answer saying don't play scared fortune favors the ball exactly exactly i don't play scared you're right i don't uh and then i'll i'll be laughing or not laughing when i have to discard him but that's okay okay so that's my turn all right so now we're gonna move on to the enemies uh there are no enemies in place so they will not be there's hunter enemies that chase you down there's enemies that will fight you if they're engaged with you uh but we skip that right now because there's no enemies in play then we'll move on to i forget what it's called but it's like resetting and all that upkeep phase i should have known that uh so we'll reset so we flip our little dudes back over uh we ready up any exhausted cards or none in play we'll draw a card and if it was a weakness you'd have to deal with that and then you get a resource each i have one resource and i drew deduction for those keeping track this one's helped me out with uh getting additional clues that would have been nice to have that uh but this can be played i could play a card like this to a test for you and could get you an extra clue off of the card yeah and i just drew guts which just gives me a little extra willpower and a willpower test oh you're gonna need guts if you're gonna play bold exactly exactly so that was perfect timing okay so then we'll move on to the mythos phase where we will add one doom to the uh oh yeah we also check our hand in the end of the oh yeah sorry if we have more than eight cards you have to discard down to eight for those that are unfamiliar with that that's that's when you check your card limit then we wrap around to a new round it starts off with the mythos phase like i described before uh so we slap a doom counter on here then you do a check those doom counters in play so even on other cards so if there's doom counters on enemies or locations or whatever uh you'd add them all up compare them to this value and then you would advance it and generally this is the only time usually advanced but there are other cards that can mess with that um so obviously we're not advancing okay so then we'll draw an encounter card in lead investigator return order so i got obscuring fog which is a hazard revelation attached to your location limit once per location attached location gets plus two shroud after attached location is successfully investigated to start obscuring fog sorry [Laughter] my asset is still safe and i draw a swarm of rats that have uh one if i'm going to combat test them three if i'm going to agility test to evade them i only have one health they are hunters so they will follow the closest hero kind of when they move and they deal one damage when they attack no sanity loss and that'll be in my threat area c4 says love this game i do too no comment i'm trying to tell myself i don't love it so i don't spend a thousand dollars plus trying to collect everything from it instantly i'm trying to like trick myself so i'll leave it up to you guys the more you guys watch the more you guys share the more you guys like it and all that kind of stuff if there's an audience for it on the channel i'll spend the form i'll spend the funds but i'm trying to tell myself i don't love it but you guys if you guys know my history like i love freaking all these lcg card games yeah competitive and co-op love them all yeah but uh yeah all right it's gonna be a toss up though to decide which ones which one we like better versus this one and lord of the rings right yeah i'm a little biased with the lord of the rings theme so i just love seeing those characters from there i i have a more of attachment to the theme and the characters in that uh but the mechanics yeah the mechanics of like exhausting guys to to commit them to quests feels a little lame still that annoys me that mechanic i just never really i don't know it's like a weird choice like i want to you know exhaust this guy for the rest of the turn because i'm trying to commit points to like advance the story and like not use the guy yeah just that feels like feels bad man yeah um but i do like the mechanics of this one a little better i think i feel like this theme is growing on you yeah oh definitely yeah definitely i always like to get into the theme of the games that play yeah for sure rat snacks yes yep all right back to investigator turn we choose who is gonna go first are you interested in going first and dealing with the rats in your location that would help me get a token off here because if not all but this says uh after attach location is successfully investigated right i don't think discovering a clue is the same thing as successfully investigating no i feel like successfully investigating is doing the like an intellect test actually doing an investigate action i agree do you think it's worth using a flashlight on an investigate yeah that's what i'm saying i think i'd be the one to do it yeah because i think then you go first um and i have a monster to get one off i could then test hopefully succeed and get the other one off and then this would go away and then i would like my plan that's my plan yeah discover does not equal yes yeah i know from playing enough board games aka ffg products is like yeah it's very very specific wording usually okay i need to kill the rats first anyway uh i do for my turn if i were to do any other action other than attacking or evading these guys or a resign but we don't have a way to resign but it's a way to kind of like quit the scenario um or parlay which i think that comes up in this one i think but uh it's another action we don't have access to right now um but if i started like investigating first this enemy would do an attack of opportunity and automatically deal damage me but he's engaged with me so mel uh could technically go and do things at this location because she's not engaged with the enemy so we technically do not need to kill them first um and i do have nine health and full health so technically this guy only hits for one i don't have to i know people i know you're referring to i'm just trying to be very clear for those watching so they understand i'm trying to for these first few turns of the game really describe it out because there are quite a few people here i was surprised that have not played this game um so i am trying to talk the new player but again like good point for bringing that up i do appreciate it i always look at it too if someone's engaged with an enemy i like them to go first and see what happens because then the other person can potentially help yeah like mel could use an evada or um she could invade or fight this guy even though he's engaged with me uh because we're at the same location she can interact with stuff in my threat area which is neat um but if she had to do something with an engaged enemy she could actually spend an action to engage this enemy to take it away from me if i needed to be freed up to do something else so there's like little plays like that you can do which is neat but we don't always action strat so i'll go first um and i'll just fight this guy to show a combat he's only a one fight i have a four to start i don't want to waste bullets on my gun no i wouldn't uh because shooting little rats running around the ground is kind of hard to do uh so i'd rather just punch them or or squish them with my hand i guess that's what i'm doing step on them step one yeah or bang them with the flashlight is that i don't need to use the battery to do that right is it broom or something so i'm just going to do a standard fight which i have four on my my card base i'm not going to play any other cards don't use flashlight you need flashlight later i definitely need a flashlight i think i might have two in the deck though i have i have as well you have them yeah i don't remember how many i have i think about three will power to start uh oh actually so i could use flashlight to start and investigate which reduces this by two so we're now down to two okay i'm using a flashlight just because it's obscuring fog uh and now i choose whether i wanna play cards i think mel can see what cards i play first before she decides whether she wants to put in a card but i'm gonna add one to that with this deduction and the cool part is uh i mean i don't know what else you're gonna do on your turn i guess you could just draw cards and get resources and stuff but this if i succeed which i may not uh i could discover an additional clue at the location so i could grab these two and we could start plowing through this a little fast here yeah because that would be the only one i wanted to succeed because i've now committed uh some of my battery juice yeah yeah i have now committed a card uh and i don't want you to start bumping your head against obscuring fog having trouble uh investigating it i may let me think uh i am at what i say three four i'm at four against two which is generate plus two is fine yeah maybe i just go with that i mean i'll leave it up to you if you want to play a card you can so here's where the dilemmas of my deck come in i do have i do have one that i could put in that gives me gives you an additional two this card would go to my discard but i am planning on putting out wendy's amulet and just for anybody that doesn't know what her amulet does is it lets me play cards out of my discard pile events at your desk event sorry yeah so you may play the top most event out of your discard pile as if it was in your hand and then after i play an event i put on the bottom of my deck so you can't um so i could give this one to you and then play it out of my discard pile once i've put this into play but it has that whole discover extra clues right it's like so powerful i don't know yeah we are plus two i feel like it's okay i feel like it's okay as well but we might fail but it's not that bad but it's annoying but that would be the worst case yeah because that would or the other thing would be as i hold this on my turn and i try and then i fail potentially and that's up to you if you want to put it in now is it now now or never no oh you may regret that then i should remember i can't see your hand i don't know remember i'm gonna i'm gonna let you make the and there's a bunch of story text and some game stuff so it says the door on the floor so this is act 1b you notice the edges of your newly purchased rug are tattered and mud stained finding this odd you ship the furniture aside to pull back the rug to your surprise you see the door leading out of your study you slowly turn the knob and the door swings open revealing your hallway below you jump through the doorway landing on your feet or landing on your feet on soft dirt the door on the study slam shut above you the smell of burning wood fills the narrow hall uh intermingled with the scent of rot and decay put into play the set aside hallway seller addict and parlor forgot to mention before uh i did it already but there are four other locations they also had to set aside besides the uh the npc and the the ghoul priest um so we are set putting the hallway uh where was it right here uh hallway seller addict and parlor discard each enemy in the study there are none so okay we win no place each investigator in the hallway and then remove the study from the game okay why does it say remove the study first uh so the hallway's in play so it's on the locks all these are on the lock side so the attic let's put that above that makes sense right hallway attic seller down below okay right and the parlor let's just throw that over here somewhere yeah looks good i don't know this is how we played with it before i don't know how to do it but uh and certain locations so they're on the lock side like i said uh so we don't know the shroud value and the amount of tokens you can read the little text on them so this is the parlor the entrance to the parlor is blocked by a dark glowing unfathomable barrier uh you cannot move into the parlor it says you are unsure what would happen if you tried to cross the threshold of the strange barrier but based on its extreme heat you sure as hell don't want to try uh and you can see here how they connect so this has a green diamond up here and then a red square so to get to this place you have to leave locations for example the hallway is connected to that place via this dot and then i know from the parlor i go to the red square place here which is the hallway this is how this game kind of connects locations and i did see there's tokens people have little dual sided arrow acrylic pieces to kind of connect everything and i know it gets more complicated in future scenarios and then you see here the addict uh is a blue or the attic sorry is a blue triangle and it goes back to the hallway the cellar is a plus burgundy plus here and it goes back to the hallway and obviously the hallway connects to those two right here but the parlor obviously doesn't connect to the cellar or the attic so it's like you kind of can see how the hallway is like the central connection to all these locations kate says she uses toothpicks that yeah i thought of doing pictures i saw a clever one i saw a clever one on a video i was watching uh that came up in my feet after of course i was searching arkham horror and youtube like then starts pummeling me with our comfort videos but i saw one that a guy puts a white sheet of paper underneath oh and just literally takes a marker and just draws lines so he puts like a eight and a half by eleven paper kind of under you know under the locations and then just draws and that was very clever it doesn't look as pretty on stream so that's why i'm not doing it but i think for gameplay-wise if i'm not playing on camera i'm going to do that paper uh i'll do the white paper and just draw on it i think it's a cool quick and dirty way to do it yeah bernardo's here greetings from beside a burning house wondering if it was worth it yes you know what that means i know what that means i think we read the next act the barrier a a glowing barrier blocks the path to your parlor as you move toward it intense heat forces you to back away picking up a handful of dirt you toss it at the barrier to watch in horror as the dirt incinerates perhaps there's something in the seller or addict that can help attic attic so something in the attic or the seller that can help so there's the story's telling us go there uh oh look uh this has an objective so to advance this one it wants three clues per investigator it says when the round ends investigators in the hallway may as a group spend the required requisite number of clues to advance so we need to i think both be in the hallway if we're both spending clues from ourselves yep uh to advance so at the end of the end of a round so we can't can't do it as like a uh free action in the middle of our turn like i just did we have to wait till the end of a full round so that's that's interesting uh so the attic has text on it saying the smell of rotten meat assaults your naturals nostrils as you approach the attic stairs uh the hallway the hallway says a moment of panic and disorientation strikes as you land upon the floor of the hallway the world spins as if turned on its head like of course there's cool art in this game to really get you into it i love the graphic design the color of this game it's like fits the theme perfect very muted old kind of feel um but very clean design i like that a lot it's not you know like very poppy and colorful like the art is very much the central focus of the card i really like that a lot uh the cellar uh the stairs leading down to your cellar are slick and they glisten with a thin layer of ice oh does macaulay culkin live here just like a home alone he ice the stairs and uh you know to stop people from sneaking in the cellar all right [Music] uh drew's popping in here saying so you're so happy you're playing this hope to see so much more drew like i said earlier in the stream it's up to seller uh i go here this flips so it's oh for shroud but better for you though if i'm fighting so two clues per investigator on here and it says forest after you enter the seller take a damage oh and it says your cellar seems to have been replaced with an underground network of icy tunnels and caverns the cold chills you to the core so it's like you slid down the stairs and i brought my trench coat so i'm warm so it's a good thing i came this way although i'm feeling a little draft under my trench coat uh it's a little cold so the air is like rising from the floor and feels a little cold uh you know but anyways uh your seller see uh sorry uh i want to show the victory point uh it's got a victory point on here so how this works is the victory points lead to experience so anything with a victory point if there's an enemy that has a victory point we defeat it it goes to a victory display it doesn't go to the discard pile uh if we clear all the clues off a location and it's empty at the end of the scenario you will add these to the victory display so we add up all the victory points we earn and that gets you experience which helps you buy new cards for your deck and level up or you can save it for future chances to level up uh so there's motivation for just not getting clues off this one to progress this there's also motivation to get the clues off of it to get victory points to help us in the next scenario by improving our deck which i i freaking i love that it's amazing i freaking love that stuff in games yeah as you guys know but uh it makes you want to clear this even though you don't need to sometimes there's things happening where like you can't waste the time so you've got to just like screw it it's not worth the victory point and you got to value that right but uh okay so i'm just there that's my actions and i am done go away ah dan i knew you'd comment i was definitely definitely looking for you i wonder why he says is there a draft in here or are you just happy to see me oh okay get all the victory points yes that's that's the that's the goal okay so i think first action we are going to play wendy's amulet so again um that's two resources i may play the topmost event for my discard pile as if it was in my hand and then force after you play an event place it in the bottom of your deck instead of your discard pile okay now i'm tempted to move into the attic to see what is there um is there any reason why you'd want to come and hang out with me i could help you with tests i mean that's that's a strategy for sure um the one damage is not gonna hurt me like we could see we could get more information and find out what's up there and if i need to come and help uh or you know that kind of thing so like we would see more info probably a good idea to split and like both be working on two different things that's the thing like if she splits that means she can't help me uh with monsters that i have to deal with at my location she can't help commit cards to my tests and stuff yeah and i can't help her out yeah so this is some of the things that come up in the game of like you know orbit scenes stick together together but then the other issue is and i look from an action uh you know economy kind of perspective i already moved down here cost me an action so if you were to come down here and then we'd have to go to the attic it's going to cost you two more to get to the attic because it it might be a waste and we need to get three per investigator there's only four here yeah so we have to go we need more clues that's why i would argue to go search somewhere else i mean they might be in the parlor but we can't get in the parlor right now yeah it's telling us to go to the attic and or the seller to get into the parlor so yeah i don't know bob says there's time to split up this ain't it yeah okay i think i'm thinking of moving for action two uh yeah tara theme is always better when the team splits lol exactly exactly what happens in every horror movie when they split up yeah that is true i know and i'm terrible at fightings but i can invade them and run if i need to unless i find a baseball bat or something in my deck your first action is to move you didn't want to do anything before moving my second action yeah i played the ambulance no no i'm fine because i still have technically two more actions so okay so if happen they're going to happen uh kngs hey kg i'll say i'm not sure if you mentioned already but there is a really great app for tracking campaign cards directly links to arkham db yes i have it arkham cards app for android i i downloaded it yesterday i meant to talk about it at the start of the stream to show that off to people as a thing thank you for watching i'm going to do that in the next one uh we're not going to use it through this play but it is really cool i was going to show you actually last night because we were um it connects to arkham db and actually pulls data uh a huge thing on rmdb in any db site for lcg games super powerful feature and i want to show this so commercial break here uh if you have a card and we're not sure how let's say let's say flashlight where was it flashlight okay i love this about these db sites people will put faq entry stuff on here or questions that come up in forums and that kind of thing so if i i have flashlight i click on it okay i go to the card page okay this is this is in the web app okay there's a different developer doing what's called the arkham cards app and we saw this for key forge and stuff where people make apps that pull from the api of the web app that these guys are doing so you go down here and boom i love seeing this info of like faq if you reduce the shroud to zero investigating this location will be successful even if you reveal a minus eight so here's what we're talking about earlier right yeah yeah so if i would have clicked on this earlier i would have known this i love reading this stuff when i'm not playing the game and i'm like building a deck we're net to neck and i'm like why is this card in there i don't know how it works you can go in here super valuable for people learning a game if you're curious about a card the community is super awesome at putting all the weird situations in this faq entry it's maybe not the best example but here's one but you'll sometimes see there's like five or six entries describing all these weird situations weird interactions things have been answered by the developers are all in here in the arkham cards app which i know is in the google play store i don't know about ios i have it on my android phone um but you can do the same thing in there it pulls all this info so you can literally be on the can browsing the card database building decks reviewing your decks changing your decks i think um and you can store all your campaign info but you can read this kind of data about cards uh well you're not playing a game or you're sitting in front of the tv you know your wife's got a crappy show on you don't care about you can sit there and on your tablet or whatever you know or bring up your laptop and you can browse through this stuff uh but yes thank you kanji for reminding us of that but it's called arkham cards arkham cards um and it has campaign stuff the developer's actually adding a feature so you can have campaigns where people can uh save their decks to the campaigns and can see each other's decks and whatnot um so you can play like remotely and like manage decks and that kind of thing uh he's like adding this kind of feature to like have a back end to it uh to connect like multiple people playing the same campaign or something uh i was reading that on reddit the other day i think it's super cool uh yeah so arkham cards i don't want my phone near me to show it but uh i don't have it downloaded yeah no it's okay uh and cohen says it is on um ios as well it is okay perfect yeah that's great yeah i just i i saw somebody you mentioned online i saw and it was like oh i love when people do that kind of stuff for these games and i looked at it i just dabbled with it um ethos busters didn't know that about mythos if you support the mythos buster's people oh yes the audio narrative stuff yeah i saw that in the app yeah there's a feature in the app where you can turn on narrative but you got to like link to your mythos busters uh whoever they are uh a podcast or something i don't know when they read like through the stories yeah this campaign stuff uh we could have had this read out in the app you just go to it and you're in the campaign you just click like play or whatever oh my god and it will it will stream from their like feed i'm assuming they're like podcasts or mp3 files or whatever uh that they'll read it out but you have to like donate to their patreon to get access to that right but obviously they're doing the work yeah that's amazing i think that's super neat yeah i just didn't know for like i i'm i don't know for copyright and stuff i didn't want to try to dabble with that in a live stream but yeah yeah yeah we have to be careful through a podcast about arkham lcg i think i might already an hour two talks yeah when we were first learning less than two hours literally the last like two episodes of the campaign when we already like knew how the game worked we like read the rules a few times and everything uh and the faq and the rules reference guide and stuff i like read most of that stuff i don't digest it all the first few times but i try to read it all but man we flew through those last couple ones like like it did not take long at all yeah especially once you know your deck you know like one or two hours for two players is how i feel it was yes on stream with all the overhead yeah which i love to do don't get me wrong but do not judge our stream time based on how long a game takes and also don't judge what the company puts on the box that's also the lie that's the other way it's a lie our play time is the the other the other direction to lie it's so somewhere in the middle yeah so yeah board game geeks are best that but an hour to two hours two players yeah yeah and a lot of people are agreeing that but yeah yeah that's why we're doing this on a weeknight we knew this first episode we're explaining a lot more getting everyone into it there are new people breaking the barrier uh using the barrel from the attic you carry ice and snow from the cellar and hurl it at the barrier the barrier sparks and shutters as it consumes the ice then hisses and fades out of existence the barrier blocking the passage to the parlor has vanished reveal the parlor we actually reveal without being there whoa look at this guy's head on the floor what the heck is going on is that the guy from the bathroom i think so so the parlor uh has uh two shroud zero clues on it and has that action resigned so you can resign with a monster engage with you he will not do an attack of opportunity this is a way for an investigator to basically leave the scenario just to kind of like be defeated and if we both resign it kind of ends the scenario and we read the like uh the ending that's like you had no conclusion or whatever it's like you just want to tap out you feel like i don't want to take any more damage i don't want to die we're just going to resign okay you totally can just leave the game doing that it even says this is too much for me you run out of the front door fleeing in panic there's also while leta chandler is not controlled by a player she gains action parlay test intellect if you succeed take control of leta chandler so you gotta do a four intellect test so we'll find out about leta chandler here put the set aside leta chandler into play at the parlor okay here's leta chandler we found her uh she's a zealot and says ally while you control lita chandler she gains each investor your location gets plus one combat there's a reaction when an investigator at your location successfully attacks a monster traded enemy that investigator deals plus one damage and she takes up an ally slot so you can play her like an asset okay uh is what this assets card here is but it just has you guys know assets now but this is a uh it takes up your companion slot which we haven't seen any oh you haven't looked or leo leave it sorry nevermind i don't we have a way to take control of her if we succeed at like a intellect test which is the same tests we've been doing uh to find clues if we can pass a four here uh somebody can take control of her that would be good uh also spawn the set-aside ghoul priest in the hallway ooh ooh okay so the ghoul priest hello uh has five health per investigator so he's 10 health or to combat or to evade he's humanoid monster ghoul and elite uh if he ever has to decide who to engage with he will go after the highest combat which is myself that's what the prey does it breaks ties he's a hunter so if he's at a location without a um investigator during the enemy phase he will actually if he's ready not exhausted and has been evaded he will chase down the closest investigator if there's a tie he'll go after the highest combat and he's got retaliate so if you fail a combat test against him he will hit you back for an automatic two health loss and two horror and he's worth victory too if we defeat him he'll go to our victory display uh and that is a yum yum yum for experience points okay so he is at our location here and before the chat has an aneurysm please take your resource yeah sorry guys i yeah so that would be like we can take him down quicker with some leeda okay i could go get her i have extra action and then i have to do the parlay of a test of and you can leave right because he's engaged with me oh and i can do okay i think i can do both because if you bring her if you get her yeah and she's here then that helps me too with the plus combat and extra damage yep so if you can opportunities he could you know if i fail a couple attacks against him and then he actually goes in the enemy phase i could be done in like one round worst case oh if i do get lead i have to remove leo you're right you're right but is one extra action from you gonna take this guy down faster um no but technically or i don't have another one you but i don't have an ally if you can evade this guy he i can he'll go back to the location he won't attack in the enemy phase i can still fight him and he will retaliate right i think uh is only if they're ready yeah yeah yeah it has to be ready i won't be able to okay so here's the thing what i could do is i could bring him over to me no you need to evade him yeah but then i can't fight him who cares about fighting him right now evade him we we can stop it in your campaign log record that your house has burned to the ground [Laughter] the lead investigator earns the leta chandler card i mean include it in his or her deck oh thanks boom uh this card does not count towards the investigator's deck size uh the lead investigator suffers one mental trauma from watching her house become a smoldering room in ruin oh so i marked that on youtube so you start with only six uh like sanity or whatever you start with uh uh one of these tokens at the beginning of the next scenario okay crazy um so we'll take that off um each investigator earns experience equal to the victory x value from each card in the victory display remember to add eligible locations to the victory display each investigator earns two bonus victory uh oh two bonuses sorry experience he or she gains insight into the hidden world of the mythos so uh victory no we didn't defeat this guy this was cleared of clues this is clear of clues uh so that's that's our experience right plus the two that we got plus extra two yeah so what do we got one two three four so we got six each uh six each so four victory points there i think i was it we didn't see many other guys right that we defeated or anything of yeah just that last one i think but he just came in yeah we didn't have time to even fight we kept seeing stupid rats yeah anyways okay uh so now you wait we can do it at the beginning of the first one or the next one i just think as this one took a little longer it's getting kind of late here so what we're gonna do and all that you guys in the uk are like laughing at me uh saying it's late here but um uh i do appreciate being here we we are gonna save it till the start of tomorrow's episode 7 30 pm eastern show up early on time what we'll do is we'll
