Ark Basics Wyvern - HOW TO GET YOUR FIRST EGG - EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW!

hey how's it going everybody welcome to arc basics a show where we break down the abcs of how to start an arc how to accomplish things how to achieve things how to be the best you possibly can be that's right we're going with the full abcs of arc a for arc b for basic c for well whatever you want it to be c can be anything hey how's it going everybody welcome back to arc basics i'm flingerfoo and today we're going to be talking about the one thing that everybody always asks hey flagrant when are you going to do a basics on well guess what we're doing the basics on it today you're watching it right now i know weird right all right so yeah we're going to be talking about the wyverns now the wyverns there is so much to put into one video so i'm gonna try to not talk a whole bunch and just show you everything because there is a ton of stuff now when it comes to wyverns there are three separate flavors on scorched earth there's actually um seven uh flavors but on scorched earth which is going to be most everybody's uh first interaction with wyverns there are three separate flavors there are the fire wyverns over here there are the poison wyverns and poison wipers don't normally look like this which is hence why he's named pennywise and then there's the lightning wyverns now each one each everybody has their favorite when it comes to these and it's yeah it's everybody has their own reasons for it and i i i i actually prefer the lightning once a little bit better than just about everything else all right oh hold on i need to get a drink of water all right and you might be asking yourself hey how do we get a wyvern well the the answer is well first off you're gonna have to uh sacrifice yourself several times for your very first egg the first egg is always the hardest after you get the first egg it becomes so much easier now um to get the first day oh that's a nice little drop over there hey dude um but yeah to get the first egg you're not gonna have a wyvern but on the back of a wyvern getting the next wyvern egg is always super super easy but on the first um one you can take uh elementary some people are like hey you know what just go in there grab it and then on your way out just die and grab that so we're go we're gonna try it um also you can grab a tapazara um you can get away with the tapazara but yeah i mean it's it's doable my preferred method is with uh um thylakolio thyacolios they are tanky they are beefy they can take the hits um but if you encounter a poison wyvern while you're down there your toast it's it's as simple as that your toast which is why if you have access to a gas mask bring it that is most definitely on the shopping list for going and stealing wyvern eggs you're also gonna need um quite a bit of salt now i always take um different uh several different stacks of salt whenever i go that way there when you know because it always explodes so fast all you do is take and just combine the stack and then it'll stack it right on top of it and then you'll have one that's wasting away and then another one is wasting away but always make that one stack last just a little bit longer all right you're gonna need some meat for yourself because food is important for a growing ark survivor i'm not sure if you're aware of this and then also uh you're definitely gonna need some tranquilizer darts and probably some um shotgun shells now um a storage box depend you might want one depending on how you're going to do it if you're going to do suicide runs to go in and grab it then you want going to want to put the egg inside of a box and then die uh get away from the storage box let the wyvern eat you and then come back later after the wyvern is gone and then grab it out of the storage box it's going to aggro on you and then you run away that way um that is a very viable tactic and for the first one that is actually the way i would recommend especially for the very first timers so actually we're going to try with the tapajara we're going to take pinkie and it's going to be uh we're going to go get an egg and we're going to use it the way we're going to pretend that we don't have any of these other wyverns here to go get eggs and then we're going to uh take pinkie and then go get uh an egg now um the thylacolio i would also recommend that especially once you uh take once you get your first egg because you're gonna need milk you're gonna need a lot of milk all right especially if you're on playing on the public servers you're gonna need quite a bit of milk so just know that in order to uh uh get the milk for raising it up and you'll see why later it it you have to knock out a female wyvern or you have to take and kill an alpha wyvern a female whimer knocked out will give you five milk a uh um alpha wyvern that you kill and then loot its corpse will give you 50 milks so they're actually quite uh it it's quite advantageous to uh kill the alpha ones but i would not recommend killing an alpha wyvern without a wyvern more specifically a fire wyvern is best a lightning wyvern can do it a poison wiper can do it but a firewire and you're just immune to their breath attacks so yeah it's a little bit easier a lightning river will do it quicker because you can use your lightning breath but you'll take more damage all right so let's get uh um pinky out and let's go see if we can go get one now on pinky um i actually specifically tamed this one just so where um i would have one for this video because chances are pinkie's gonna die now i have a long history of killing tapas jars when it comes to uh wyvern taming and more specifically ones named pinky uh you can see um some links down below in the videos and i'm also going to assume for uh purposes of this video that you do not have access to any clustered maps or anything like that so just pay no attention to the gotchas that are down below all right so we're going to just be using the materials that you find on scorched earth to tame a wyvern on scorched earth all right so now let's get over to the wyvern trench now the wyvern trench is over here way over here on the um or on the western side of the map so we're going to be heading over there if you uh see the blue obelisk over here just head past it over to the high desert wave over here and it's right as this um group of mountains right here meets the high desert that's where you're going to find the wyvern trench all right so let's get over there and i will see you guys in a minute all right now coming over here to the wyvern trench for the very first time um or if you're just finally uh set on to hey you know what we're getting a high enough level we can do this or i just want to do a mad dash i just want a wyvern egg it doesn't matter all right so if you come over and you start looking at it the wyvern trench is going to be in stasis before you get here and as soon as you get here all these wyverns start picking up and they're like going hey look we can now get out and we can go terrorize the neighborhood so um what you want to do is just kind of want to skirt the area of it until you can look down and you can see a wyvern egg and i believe there is one right down there yep there is one right so there's a couple different tactics that you can use one and you can clear out some of these things which is another reason why i like to use the thylakolio yeah there is definitely an egg down there and it doesn't matter for your very first uh wyvern that you're gonna raise it doesn't matter what level it is after you have your first one the level kind of matters and you can start actually getting the higher level ones all right so what i'm going to do is i'm going to wait until that poison wyvern goes away and he's about to right like that and he's going to be terrorizing the neighborhood a little bit now i'm going to wait for him to get out of aggro range because the moment we pick up that egg right down there every single wyvern a huge pulse is going to go out from that egg going into our inventory and it's going to send out a pulse to every wyvern in the area that says hey this guy just stole an egg all of you guys come eat him so it's not uncommon to have between five and ten wyverns following you while you're getting that first egg which is extremely scary especially if you've never done this before once you've done it a couple times you're just like oh yeah okay i'm probably gonna die it's fine it's fine so um i'm gonna take a look what level is this guy that is a now if it's a low level one we could actually just hop down and go kill it that's a 180 never mind all right we're just gonna wait for that guy to us um spread out all right he's actually attacking other things so now what we could do is get out there aggro him and then run him up to uh um these hills up here now if we have what i call a soft aggro there's hard aggro and there's soft aggro when it comes to wires okay nevermind he's just piecing out normally when wyverns are outside of the wyvern trench after a certain amount of time they'll just fly that way to 50 50 and then eventually despawn all right but there's back to hard aggro and soft aggro heart um soft aggro is basically you shoot it once it's going to come up to you if you're a viable target it's going to attack you if it sees other things along the way yeah there's a chance that it could diagram on you and aggro on the other thing that it's going to go eat part aggro means you just stole an egg and nothing is gonna pull that aggro off you for at least probably about the first 30 seconds of having that aggro so yeah all right so what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna kind of just wait here a little bit wait for these guys to kind of come out go do their own thing see that guy right there he's just flying over to 50 50 now after a while they will always do that so now it's actually looking pretty dang safe so we can get down here and hold on i want to put up one of these boxes right up here just in case so where if we need to we can drop this egg inside of it we die so if we think that we're gonna die we can hop out and we can drop this egg inside of that box just in case it's where the um the thing is not going to spoil or anything like that all right so now we're just gonna kind of carefully get down here and i'm trying to do this all in one shot where you can see all right there's the wyvern now i'm just gonna kind of just back up and let him do his thing and always always always face your uh i'm flyer out all right 130 that's a good egg pick that up now all the wyverns in the area are have just aggroed on me so now we're leaving all right keep an eye there's a lightning wyvern right there all right now what you want to do is you want to skirt the area right up like this now that lightning wiring he's going to hurt all right so now when he comes up and he starts attacking us spin on him because he has a longer turning radius all right see like that and he's going to be hurting us as much as he possibly can so basically we just want to go up like this all right now that guy's already de-aggroed and fly down to where you they get as much aggro from all the other things around and not on us all right now we've already de-aggregated that guy all right all right that was pretty smooth okay so now you can also use these little uh um uh rock formations to your advantage as well uh just trying to get away as much as possible what you're trying to do is just shake them and if they uh turn on you just turn back on them and then just aim right at their neck and then they will try to uh turn around on you and then you can uh use that as your advantage to kind of get away a little bit it's it's kind of a dance but once you get the hang of it it's it's important that yeah you can get away pretty easily especially with the nice um high level tapas jar you could take a few hits um how much damage would did we take yeah we actually took some damage but not too much all right i i do also have a pretty good saddle on this guy but then again if you're looking to get yourself a uh um a wyvern i would recommend you get those loot drops you get those decent saddles temperature saddles they drop all over uh scorched earth from the cave stuff like that there there's places to get them i would recommend doing that all right so now that we got this now we're gonna have to raise this wyvern we're gonna have to uh um hatch this egg and then we're gonna have to go get ourselves some wiper milk so let's get back to base all right so back at base uh what you're gonna wanna do now to hatch one of these wyvern eggs it's gonna take heat it's gonna take a lot of heat we just pulled them out of a place where there's lava running along the ground so it requires so much heat to incubate these guys you're gonna have to basically replicate the lava and what you're gonna do with that how you're gonna do that is with torches standing torches a lot of standing torches now you're going to want to put i i always just put spark powder in them it's a lot easier now you want to put them in a way so where they just kind of the the heat just multiplies each other as it they just add to each other and then they create a really super hot area right here in the center now um i have to set up for multiple eggs at once if you're just doing one um you can actually make it like kind of a u-shape on this right here i went with an l-shape just kind of get experimental now what you want to do is you want to set out a whole bunch of these load them up with uh spark powder and then just turn them all on all right so now once that's all on you want to take and you want to throw this out on the ground right in front of them now you should see it is incubating now if you're on a public server it's going to take longer for you to incubate them and it's also going to take longer to raise them now while this is incubating we're pretty much just gonna be chilling out right like this all right and as soon as he comes out we're gonna um we're gonna apparently poop on the ground i'm sorry that was the food not me all right so yeah as soon as he comes as soon as he hatches we're going to imprint on him or we're going to claim him and then we're going to uh for the most part we're just going to be sitting here babysitting him all right now at the moment um he uh um needs his first imprint we're going to put him into a cryo orb and we're gonna go get some uh um milk all right this egg is about to hatch oh pretty little wiring all right all you have to do is go claim them now there's a couple different things that you want to pay very close attention to all right one what as soon as your um starts imprinting him and you start raising up the baby you want to pay very close attention to how much food he has this is going to drop by 0.1 every i believe 10 seconds maybe it's like 5 seconds right now as he's raising up his health's gonna go up and his food slowly gonna be going down this is why the um oh the wyvern milk is so important because the only thing he will eat right now he won't eat food if you put this in his inventory he just will not eat it right um so the only thing he will eat right now is wyvern milk now wyvern milk will give him 1200 food but as he's raising up he's not going to be able to take all that um food matter of fact most of uh his food right here is pretty much uninaccessible right once he uh um starts raising up his food stats gonna naturally go up as he's raising to where eventually right before he uh gets fully raised this right here will max out and then he'll actually have all 500 um 940. but right now this right here is all the food he's got so feeding him on wiper milk right now would not do a dang thing other than make us feel better it would waste the wyvern milk and it would pretty much just be all for naught all right so and also you can see his health stats kind of bouncing around it's going down it's going up and what this is the the hellstad is pretty much it's constantly going down but it's feeding off the food stamp the food stat is basically healing him up a little bit as it's going down and it's slightly offset just enough so where once he gets raised up fully he'll act this will be maxed out all right so let's turn him off follow let's turn all these off and let's go get some go get some wyvern though now the best way i like to go get white remote you can build traps you can do all sorts of different things i actually prefer to use a thyla now if you're on scorched earth you have access to one of the best places of getting thylas and that is the thyla triangle um here i will explain that really quick now the thyla triangle is well and where's there we go all right try silent triangle is these spots right here it's a little triangle that goes from here down to here over here and then it just kind of seals itself up into the little triangle there's three different points now so many different thyla's um spawn around this area that if you uh clear out the thylas out of this you find low level thylas up here and then uh you kill them off you get down to here and then if you don't see any that you like you kill off the low level ones and then you go back over here to this one over here and then you uh um kill off all the lower ones here by the time you get back up to here all of these styles will be respawned and then you have a chance of getting a really high level one this is actually one of the best spots to get thylas on any of the maps there's one other one that's a little bit better but scorched earth is amazing for getting high level thighs it's absolutely cool you don't have to worry about redwoods you don't have to worry about none of that stuff right so as this guy's going to be uh raising up i'm actually just going to put him in the cryo actually 13 22. you know you'll be fine all right you'll be fine all right so um actually you know i i i am going to put him in a cryolog prior award because it's just safer um that way there while we're gone nothing uh happens to the base all right so let's go get some liver milk all right so now we're back to the wyvern trench because we need to find wyverns now what's the easiest way of finding wirings go to where they live i mean that's pretty much the easiest way all right so now what we're gonna be looking for is a low level use preferably fire wyvern firewire burns a low level fire wyverns are the easiest to do this with but yeah just be careful when doing it make sure you have a nice level of thyla this is why i'm emphasizing the thylak it's just so much easier now you can use a trap or you can do uh use other things if you want i actually prefer to just do it this way it's so much easier all right it's just so much easier to do it this way and then uh to use a trap a trap takes a lot of resources and i used to do it with a trap but this right here is just it's just easier for me i enjoy it this way and also besides i find it fun all right so now what we want to do is we want to go avoid the um vulture we just aggroed and we want to go find a nice low level fire wiper oh and it needs to be a female fire wiper male male wyverns won't produce milk mean jokes aside you don't you don't want any milk they produce all right so female firewire all right so we do have a female here she is level 15. all right so she will be perfect now the easiest way of getting her attention she's just shooting her all right so now she's going to come down towards us and we're just going to proceed in knocking her out off the back of our thyla yeah we're going to take a little bit of damage but it's not going to be nearly as rough as it might seem pretty much just conquer your fears and knock her out this way it's so easy and then when she's out you go up you get your wyvern milk and it's fine all right so now we pop up like this and make sure you always have your wyvern milk in your dinos inventory always because if this is in with some salt if uh um it's in your inventory that timer's gonna go down wicked fast all right so now we can kill her just kind of you know get her out of the way and then we run back to base now um it's always important that you never ever ever have that wiper milk in your own personal inventory except for when you're looting it and when you're transferring it because when it's in your dinos uh inventory it has double the uh um spoil timer if it has uh um salt in there with the uh dinos in the dinosaur's inventory it has even longer spoil timer but if it's in your inventory it doesn't matter if it has salt or anything like that it has a much less um inventory all right much less spoiled timer so it's not gonna last nearly as long so always always always put it in your dinos inventory and then run back to your base all right so i will meet you guys back at base and hopefully we can actually avoid any microraptor entanglements all right now when you finally get back to base what you want to do is be very very careful with this milk this milk will spoil wicked fast if you let it or it will also take a little bit longer to spoil now always make sure you have salt in your inventory when handling milk and remember immediately go put it inside of a preserving bin you can't put it inside of uh um inside of refrigerators you have to put it inside of a preserving bin so now we've got five milk in there now we could go out we could get um some more or we could just uh kind of go with this and then see how long this stuff lasts let's grab this baby wyvern let's take it back out and then let's go raise this little dude up all right now on the very first imprint what's gonna happen is you're gonna have one of three different things happen he's gonna gonna want either a wok a cuddle or wyvern milk and you don't want to feed him until after his first imprint right so he's he wants wyvern milk so let's go grab a wiper milk now what we do we take this wiper milk we put it down inside of our zero slot just like that now run over like this always make sure that you have uh um a salt in your inventory all right now here take a look at this now he's got 1405 health we figured in this our 1400 all right now this gave him almost the full little bit now wasn't the full 1200 that would have been 2600 but as he's raising this will give him more so you want to make sure that you do not give him wyvern milk unless he uh wants it as uh oh as an imprint or if he's about to die because once uh this food stat goes down to zero then he's going to uh start taking damage once this goes down really low now if you have a deodon you can actually um heal him up with the diode on with just passive healing or also if you have access to a snow owl but we mean this scorch start there's no snow owls on scorched earth all right but um yeah those are ways of actually getting him healed back up if he runs out of food now it's very very important that you make sure that you only give him the wyvern milk when he's either about to die uh starved to death or if uh it's an imprint that way there because if you give it to him while he's imprinting he still gets the food from it and then it'll raise up his food stat and also water milk is pretty rare commodity you know you have to go out and get the wyverns and all sorts of stuff yeah all right so hey i'm gonna finish raising this guy up and i will see you guys in a bit all right now there are some tricks this guy right here he's almost completely grown up he's at uh 95.6 percent all right so um if you do have access to deodon and you don't mind using the deodon to uh um just pumping a whole ton of meat onto them and um for the imprint and you uh um want something other than uh um to feed them wyvern milk you can just cry award them and then throw them back out and it re-rolls uh what they want for an imprint which is usually either a walk or cuddle and just use the deodon to heal them up let them starve out a little bit until they are fully grown now it takes a lot more care than just giving them wyvern milk and stuff like that but yeah i mean see this guy right here he's already at uh i mean he's 100 imprint and then uh his food it's actually not so bad but i'm also playing on increased uh maturation stats here so yeah um and also if you have access to a uh snow owl you can do the exact same thing with it just pick them up with a cryo orb throw them back out and what they want for an imprint um it gets going to be one of those three things it's going to be a cuddle it's going to be a wok or it's going to be wiper milk if you don't like um the wiper milk just pick them back up throw them back out and you can get a walk or a cuddle and just worry about healing him on through the uh through the health loss that he has and now it's a little bit more labor intensive than this but it's another trick that you can do to raise them up all right so this guy's about to uh get fully grown right see how his food stat is still really low but his health is maxed out his health because we raised him up just like this all right now as soon as he's ready to be uh ridden you want to go feed him up either throw of a whole bunch of meat on him have a bunch of meat ready for him to go it's like this bam and he'll eat all that or just grab him and go ride your wyvern for the first time and go out and just go gank a bunch of um stuff and because these guys are a ton of fun all right so now um every wyvern has its own specific little thing that it can do all right uh they have their own different breath attack now all of them have the attack with the left click the um breath weapon is the right click attack so with the fire wyvern these guys right here they have this flame spout that comes out like that they breed fire the lightning wyverns have a lightning um that goes out it's like a lightning bolt that comes out it takes a little bit of practice to uh aim it but it's totally doable um the poison one has a big huge uh poison gas cloud that comes out now if you uh are on a poison weapon i would recommend that you have a gas mask in your inventory just in case and then for leveling these guys i would recommend uh getting these guys their stamina up to uh what you find is reasonable some people um well me i prefer to have my wire was about 1500 stamina once they have 1500 stamina i'll start balancing it between health and melee damage kind of accordingly how i feel it every wyvern has its own um what you want so i would not recommend giving you know this is how you level this thing um like i will with some other ones but with wyverns since each one is imprinted differently each one it comes from different levels um i would just say get the stamina up to something that you find um acceptable and then go with health and melee damage from there um if you want you can put a little bit of weight into it it's not really necessary all just depends every wyvern is different and every wyvern is very specific to the writer so yeah but now that we've got this wyvern we can take this wyvern over and we can go get um eggs and eggs are so much more easier with a wyvern than they are with uh um with the tapajara just make sure that uh when you land do it the exact same way i showed you with tapazar tapajara always face outward and then grab the egg and then with a wyvern you can just run and not even worry about it or you can stay and fight i would recommend you run the first couple times once you get a little bit more comfortable with the wyvern you can fight all right now there's other wyverns that you can get as well um they're all from not from the story maps they are actually from the uh um oh the additional modded maps that went out to all the different uh consoles and pc and stuff and that is um valgar oh i'm looking up sorry oh hold on let's see can we get this yeah there we go all right so yeah you can get uh um there's a wyvern trench on ragnarok as well and also on valguero um they're a little bit uh the wiring trench on ragnarok is actually pretty easy especially once you get the hang of it uh just treat it the exact same way as this one and then basically the whole thing is is just getting comfortable with the wyvern trench once you're comfortable with the wyvern trench and food poop running down your back you'll be fine all right um and on ragnarok there's also ice wyverns that you um can get but the ice wyvern eggs actually come from around the areas of the really intense snow um areas yeah you can find uh some eggs inside there you take them up you it's the exact same thing at the moment you pick up the egg the ice wyvern is going to come attack you you run and it's generally a little bit easier to get the ice wyvern eggs once you actually have an a way of getting inside of the extreme cold snow but yeah all right and then also there's the crystal wyverns from crystal isles now those ones are passive teams you actually have to tame them by hopping on their back and then feeding them crystals as they go and i i have videos for though i will refer you to soloing the ark where i tame a whole bunch of those and i did a bunch of science experiments and found out exactly the easiest way to hop on their back and then the easiest way to tame them you can use grappling hooks i'm not going to cover them in this video because this video is going to be extremely long if i do that but that's the basics of wyverns also there's another couple little tricks these guys can do um another awesome thing that a lot of people just do not realize these guys are one of the best thatch gatherers that you can get if you land and you press the sea attack you can harvest trees and gather a ton of thatch with these things plus also you get a little bit of xp by doing it it's a great way of uh leveling up just the first couple little levels where you can get just a little bit of xp on those guys after a while that xp really doesn't add up very fast but it's totally totally doable all right um and then the the c attack is also wing buffett that kind of pushes things away from you a little bit just by doing that and yeah all right so hey i hope this video helped you out in getting wyverns wyverns are extremely powerful extremely tough and just remember alpha wyverns once you get a little bit of experience under your belt you get a nice fire wyvern uh you can take that dude over and you can uh use that um firewire and to kill an alpha wire and you get 50 uh of the wyvern milk from each one of those plus also you get a nice little skin for your uh um oh your
