[Music] good morning welcome back to motor archery the question was how to start with thumb release so let's assume you're a three finger shoot and you're quite good at it so you know when you write ended you breathe air on the left three fingers boom should fine so another thing about these some shooters it's interesting and I want to start how shall I start so first things to consider the bow when you have kind of like this recurve bows with an shelf on one side and you're good with it they don't work for thumb release because you have the arrow on the other side and it's not going to work if the only thing you could do maybe is turn to left hand then you would have the aeroshell from the right side but not every power feels good these pistol grips are usually made for one hand when you hold this bow in the wrong hand doesn't feel that comfortable even with long bows and a shelf on it you could hold it left-handed then and shoot like this but it feels weird the handle is not made for it so first thing you need a bow which works for thumb release and then there is there a lot out there as we have our snake bow as example it's an ambidextrous bow has two arrow rests they are from flag alade nice ones with arrow rests if you want an arrow rest or you take a left hand bow but you know taking I'm Dexter spoke to start so with this one you're used to it or you go directly for something I call it a horse bow but you know it's not a horse poet this is a Turkish ship aji bow no arrow rest at all you could even use long bows with no arrow rest despair bows they would work too then you simply can start your thumb release journey one thing you need to keep in mind when you shoulda taken a little all these shown balls are not center shot pose like this bow is a center shot PO that means the error goes almost exactly through the center of the ball that's why they are quite easy to shoot with to deal with it so these pose when you have the arrow on and should mediterranean-style you see the arrow is slight off-center goes not through the middle side goes a little to the left and when you should always like this you get used to it what will happen now when you have the arrow on the right side you shoot off-center - so now you arrow will go to the right side so this is what you really need to consider that's why let's turn around you when you start you know a little earlier was the idea so when you start sound release you look at this it's not even 2 meters start very short distance because when you shoot military see if the arrow goes a little to the left when I shoot the same thumb breeze the arrow goes to the right so if you do this now on long distance and you're used to shoot your mediterranean-style and you hit the target you start some release and the arrows bow all way to the right because it's a different way of pointing looking at the target don't want to say aiming because we instinctive or intuitive shooters don't aim so but how do you really start now so you have this used and very short distance in front of your target you hold your bow in your preferred hand when you're right-handed shooter you have the bow in the left hand you bring the air on the right side if you have a knocking point knock it under the knocking point and hold it in the meantime preferably these 2 fingers in place otherwise you know the arrow would drop so hold it in place your right hand makes this you bring your thumb and the first crease on the string then you simply bring the thumb close to your middle finger you close these three fingers you can close them like this or like this but you this we get in another video simply hold the hand like this not like this like this bring the thumb around the string and lock it on your middle finger and what you can do now there are different ways of shooting what you can do now simply curl the index finger gently around your thumb but make sure that the index finger stays outside of the string so that's why when you hold it like this it's not really going to work so make sure your hand is flat like this with this you can apply pressure with your index finger while you paint over to it now your wrist like this you can apply pressure on the arrow and you see arrow doesn't fall when you don't do this or when you hold the ball like this the arrow is still for it so see when you bring your hand up like this the pressure on there are not too much obviously then you hold the air in place so you can lock with your index finger or you lock the thumb on the middle finger that different way so simply get it done now what you don't want to do is don't make this don't squish your thumb upwards and then squish the arrow always open here that the thumb is down you see then you have this opening for the arrow this is how you do it and then you simply because your thumb is not used to shoot the whole draw weight of the power simply start like this look you throw a little and you let go right so then learn to reload or their own place knock some around index finger on the thumb you bring your hand over to hold the air in place throw a little and let go if you're outdoors you can put a few whatever golf balls or ping-pong balls on the floor and shoot at them don't throw fools simply start like this that your thumb gets used which should many errors like this and even start pointing at something already and letting go so you get the feeling for it like this tennis ball not foliage or simply goof around always all their employees knock it tumble around index finger hurts awesome then you bring your wrist over then the error holds by itself and you let the air ago you throw a little and you let go and this way you get easily used to let the arrow goes a little more to the right side like it would be when you shoot three finger release so then you see even without full draw short distance you already get nice groups the arrow goes where you want it to this is how you start please so don't shoot folder and of course don't start with a 50-pound or something like this start we have here these snakes or something like this they have their 20 pounds or 25 pounds this is fine don't start with a too high poundage see if your thumb will not like this so or mainly hood beside start with a low draw weight 22 pounds weigh enough and then once you did this for a while you start still short distance you get used to this used to this look then you start throwing a bit more depending on how long your bow can draw this one would do even 32 but there is a 29 inches so then simply throw back and now try to find a place in your face like let's say an anchor point that you always draw either here or here that you have always the same now you get used to it sound like this only always make your shoulder keep your shoulder down arm straight like this and then simply still short distance all the same anchor depending on the length of your draw and your arrows obviously then when you start this at your distance you see what will happen you start shooting accurate with them release and that's all then you get used to it and then of course Lila Madonna stop then of course once you manage short distance let's say one of the arrow length and you shoot tight groups before you start splitting your arrows step a little away from the target double the distance from one and a half to let's say three meters or something but you get the feeling you get the hang of it then you start from here and you do the same maybe your arrows will go a little to the right no but then simply let your body do the adjustment until you shoot the group again do it often don't eww three arrows like me shoot 100 arrows at this distance until you get used to it until you shoot proper groups and then double the distance again in the meantime your thumb got a little used to it but of course don't overdo it before you have blood blister stop or use protection we have leather protection thumb rings but you can check the other videos for this so and then when you did nice groups on three meters go six meters and to the same and get the feeling for it always make sure you have some kind of anchor point in your face right now only when you shoot later 33 inches or something there is no anchor point anymore so you do this then you raise the distance and then it's easy so I really encourage you when you're into archery and you are not completely only in the modern way you like to experience you like to do something new get a cheapo they are whatever fifteen hundred euros they say that they are not expensive get one you have arrows make sure you have an a shelf on the wrong side or you have no shelf like a nice Turkish bowl but even these ones you can get in as fiberglass bows for $70 from Aleppo this one is the vector shot cheaper hit cost 350 so you don't need to start with a bow like this and then same once you get used to short distance you rate the distance always make sure you have really some kind of anchor point in your face and then this is how you prepare so now what we even had yesterday someone stretched his finger I did a video about this knocking point horse I [Music] did a video about that to prevent this either you get one of these white gloves for your left hand but you don't need to when you see when I bring the arrow on now it's in a right angle you see I always hold the bow here so my arrow rest my hand is always the same so this would be right and go when you shoot like this the feathers can scratch you what you simply want to do is lift the nock one and a half fingers to a centimeter something like this shoot slightly nock slightly higher then you hold the arrow you see this and then you don't feel anything here I should know once in the right angle and of course even my feather is outside there just because some people always worry then you feel the feather scratching here when you have stiff feathers or like some arrows from Aleppo they have a very they cut very low profile but of course the feathers get really sharp and they really scratch deep you don't want to do that and you don't want to feel that because it's not nice there simply when you knock you get the feeling for it either you put an uh knocking point on it or simply put at least a thumb with look when I look like this go a thump it up take it slow in the beginning take a load roll wait Oh either way - arrow rest or without arrow rest mind the height of your of knocking the arrow and then start really as I showed you short distance until you get used to that the arrow goes to the right and once you get the hang of it start only after or something like this that you first get your thumb views to it look I only draw maybe like this only that you get used to this feeling of release and and your thumb gets used to it because this is you have all the pressure of your bow on one finger not on three fingers as usual don't row fool in the beginning until you get used to it but to shoot at some kind of targets put balls there or something I get used to it at 2 meters or 150 once you shoot proper groups come to full draw at 150 when you shoot groups again go back to 3 meters shoot nice groups again 6 meters and you know simply practice it don't be afraid it's really fun and when you see all these fancy stuff here you can't do with the Mediterranean religion I wrote reloading out of your hand like this well this is only time release of any of your on the right side it's really fun so go for it try it test it and if you like take a video from your first steps when you never shot some release get a bow and then video it your first shots how you do it short distance only bit half draw with you know fingers and stuff like this like I showed you before do video and post it down there because I would really like to see you shooting thumb release thank you very much for watching bye
