[Music] all right what we got here is a daniel defense ar-15 it's a it's chambered in 300 blackout got a he otech optical in it a surefire him 600 dual fuel white light on it with a surefire pressure pad for a momentary on like I said just chambered in 300 blackout and today I'll be showing you all how to field-strip it take apart your bulk air group as far as you can without needing any tools or anything like that just if you were out on the range and something went wrong you could take it apart as far as you could without having any tools on you so first thing I always start with with all my guns is clearing and safe all of them so I'll drop the mag cycle the bolt it's visually inspect the chamber make sure it's clear and then put the gun on fire and pull the trigger in a safe direction so I'll go ahead and do that right now mag is empty visually inspect the chamber put it on fire pull the trigger then I'll cycle it again so that I can put the gun back on safety put it on safe and then first thing you want to do to take it apart is this rear takedown pin you push it from the left side of the gun if you were holding it pull it the rest of the way this will then hinge on the front pin them to the front pin push that one out pull it all the way through and your lower receiver will come off your upper now your lower this is about as far as you can take down the lower without having any other tools on you I mean the rest of its all just pins and little spring tension things that you need special tools to take off the only thing you can take off if you want to change what's I'm considering doing is your buffer buffer spring and buffer weight right here I want to put a stiffer one because this does have a shorter barrel it's a pistol so the gun is a little more violent than a full rifle anther a carbine with rifle now for your upper you want to start off by pulling your charging handle your boat will slide out in the back then you pull your charging handle back that you drop right out that's about as far as you can take down that upper receiver again without having any tools then targeting handle doesn't come apart anymore so just get that out of your way then for your boat you want to start with your firing pin retention pin it's this pin right here on the left side of the boat if you're looking at it from the back of it towards the front it's on the left side usually you can get my fingernail in there pull it out pull it the rest of the way then just stand the bolt up and wriggle it to fire in tension fall off the back - there's your firing pin after that you want to push the bolt to the locked position right here is your camp in you want to rotate this pin right here 90 degrees in either direction so that it can clear your gas keys so that you can take it out of the bolt carrier group and this this entire assembly I'm holding right here is your bolt carrier group so now just a quick thing on your cam pin you want to keep this piece very well-maintained because I have about 1,500 rounds through this gun it's not clean right now but you can tell by looking at the finish on this pin that this part takes a lot of the force of the gun just from being slammed back and forth and it can wear pretty fast if you don't have it properly maintained and well lubricated so that is one piece you want to make sure you have proper maintenance on after you take out your camp in your boat we'll just pull out of the front of the bulkhead group and that is a every part you can take over the bolt carrier group beside your gas key which should never come off because as you can see right here there are two Allen screws and they are staked in place so that they cannot back themselves out because this piece is not meant to come off so that's your bolt carrier group and if you were wondering with these grooves or four on the side right here that is for your forward assist too if for some reason your gun wouldn't go fully into battery tap on that forward assist on your upper right here and there's a little tooth in there and it catches on these grooves and it'll push your gun in the bat it'll push the bolt in the battery if for some reason it doesn't go all the way forward now now on your bolt here there's um you have your gas rings the hole where your pen cam pin goes through and then your ejector now your ejector can't come off of the boat obviously there's this little pin right on top here and you can use your firing pin to push that out you can push it from the top and just pull it out on the back side and if you put some pressure on the back of it while you're doing that it'll help it come out a lot easier but two things on that it's probably not the best thing to be pushing pins out of your gun with your firing pin it can probably mess up the face of it so I'm not gonna go ahead and do it right now but if you were somewhere on the range in the field or whatever and you had an extra extractor which is unlikely you could use your firing pin push that out and replace it on the spot in bad situation arose but probably not likely so that will come out I just I don't see a likely scenario where it would be practical to take that out with your firing pin I mean if it was up to me I would just take it take the gun back home or during your part and take it apart with some punch or something to push that pin out instead of risking your firing pin or the the longevity of your firing pin so now the gun is fully filled stripped and apart as much as you can get without having any tools or wrenches or punches or anything so that's it for the disassembly now for the reassembly you start by putting your bolt back in you go bolt carrier group but one thing you want to check or I like to check before I put it back together is that on these three o-rings right here on the back of the boat there or some caps on each ovary and I'd like to make sure that none of the gaps are in line with each other whether it be the first in the last or - right next to each other just make sure they're not all not or any of them are in line with each other after you check that you can put it back in your bolt bolt carrier group but you want to make sure that the the little cutouts for the forward assist or facing you and your ejector is facing you when you go to put it back in make sure those are both facing you now if you forget or don't do it it's not a big deal because if it's facing the wrong way you're in camp in which is the next piece won't go back into the gun because for it to go back in it has to be facing that way so just everything is facing the right way it should drop right in after that take your camp in rotate it 90 degrees in either direction doesn't matter make sure your bolt slides back and forwards mine does so that's all good then take your firing pin drop it in the back you can either go through the bottom cut out like I'm attempting to do right now or just through the back of the entire bolt carrier group after that after your firing pins in push it up push it all the way forward put your attention pin back in and a little trick to make this go in easier is once you kind of get it started push down on the on the back of it while you push and it should slide right in and you push down and one thing I want to point out is that this bolt carrier group it's a daniel defense informed bolt and it's an m4 bolt as opposed to a ar-15 bolt carrier group because on the bottoms right here as you can see the daniel defense the bottom like the bottom back portion of steel is longer than the ar-15 because this bolt is actually capable of doing full auto with this bottom piece being left as long as the top whereas this one is not because for a gunman before although you have to change it put a different a different trigger sear and safety selector in it and so when the bolt goes backwards into the buffer tube comes back forwards there's a little sear that pops up and this this this bottom plate right here will clip that sear and when it does that it'll make the firing pin releasing in which will shoot another round and it'll just continue whereas this one is milled back so it will never impact that sear because it's milled back beyond the point of impact so ar-15 bolt vote versus an m4 boat now after you get your whole bolt carrier group back together and I said boat talking about these things these are both care groups after you get it all back together to put it back in the gun you're gonna have to pull your bolt forward in the bolt carrier group for it to go back in because if it's in the locked position your cam pin will be sticking out to fall on the side you won't be able to get it back in the gun and if you didn't know that you might end up fighting with that for a good 15 20 minutes so pull your boat forwards take your upper drop your charging handle in push your forwards a little ways again make sure your bolts pull forward put your gas key which is this piece right here that staked with the Allen Allen bolts put the gas key into the channel on the charging handle like that and then just slide everything forwards you can just push the bolt you can push the charging handles in the boat pushing together doesn't matter just push them forwards after that just push it forwards till it locks so it doesn't come out the back when you're trying to put it on the lower side okay so after after you get your bolt carrier group and your charging handle secure it into your upper you want to take your lower hit it up with your upper slide them together and I like to put the front takedown pin back together first so the way I'll do that is I'll push down and back on the upper against the receiver push on the front one then I'll push push down on the upper and just pop the back pin in and then after I'll get everything together I like to do a function test so first thing make sure mag is empty chambers clear put it on safe pull the trigger make sure nothing happens put it on fire pull the trigger hold it depress to the rear cycle the gun now release the trigger and listen for the reset put it back on safe make sure the trigger doesn't pull again then I like to take an empty mag put it into the gun pull the charging handle and make sure the bolt locks in the rear which it does then I will press my bolt release and make sure that it releases the bolt what you did and then I will close my dust cover and save the rifle so that is how you disassemble and reassemble a ar-15 platform rifle
