the typical anime cell Shader can't react to light but I figured out how to fix that let me explain cell shaders are usually made by taking a diffused bsdf Shader to RGB and a color ramp set to constant you pick the colors you want and you're done right well not really this setup is fine if the lights in your scene are all white but if you try to change the color or want your scene to be set at night time or during a sunset blender just says no so instead of having to make a ton of different cell shaders for one color or heaven forbid key frame the colors every time your character walks under a lamp post I have an easier solution for you welcome to the comfy mug Channel my name is Christian and I spent countless hours learning how to make anime stuff in blender so that it's quick and easy to learn for you so the base for our cell Shader is pretty fast to make after we set up our scene with a sun set to three and an object of your choice all we need to do is add a diffus bsdf shade to RGB separate colors set to HSV and a color ramp after that we'll want to duplicate the separate color node and then add a combined color set to HSV as well as we connect to the nodes the first separate will have its Hue and saturation output plugged into the combine we'll then take the value of the first separate plug it into our color ramp plug the color output into the second separate and plug the value output of that into our combine now we can set the color ramp to constant and connect our Shader to see what we're doing things are looking pretty good we can make a few adjustments to our color ramp keeping it gray scale and change the diffuse color to whatever we want and if we change the color of the light in our scene now our shaders color will also be affected this works because we're separating the diffuses base color from the way it interacts with light giving our color amp control over the Shadows you can adjust the color amp however you want and we got ourselves a basic cell shap Shader but what's that you want your cell Shader to have more colors well that's simple enough just duplicate the diffuse bsdf Shader to RGB and color ramp from the base cell Shader and place it behind everything else change the diffuse back to White and start playing around with the colors you want just make sure the values are set to one and the placement of the stops match the other color ramp and you are good to go and there you have it just a few different ways you can make a cell Shader that'll meet all your anime needs like And subscribe if if you enjoyed the video and let me know if this helped you in the comment section below if you want to see how to add an automated Rim light and dark Edge to this Shader check out the link to my patreon in the description I have a lot of cool stuff for you over there like this pack of anime Rock shaders you like rocks right thank you so much for watching I hope you have a wonderful day and I'll see you here next time at the comfy [Music] mug [Music] a
