An Original Eichler in the San Mateo Highlands Presented by Monique Anton

[Music] hello I'm Monique Anton with modern homes realy welcome to my listing at 1539 Forge Road in beautiful Sano now this is one of my favorite Iker neighborhoods in the highlands I'm going to be taking you through here and showing you some of the features that make these homes so incredibly special let's take a look inside [Music] this is one of the larger Iker models with four bedrooms and two bathrooms it also has 1,72 Square ft normally you'll see ERS in the 1,400 to 1500 squ ft range with the Florida ceiling glass it has this beautiful open floor plan you'll see the beautiful mahogany walls which create warmth and depth to the rooms now iar used two types of mahogany luon mahogany which is darker and Philippine mahogany that you see here with this bright wonderful [Music] space what a treat for us to see this original Iker kitchen now these countertops are just simple for Micah and the Cabinetry is all made of plywood and the reason for that is because Ika was building affordable housing for people coming back from the war to have homes for their families [Music] here we are in this beautiful original ecler living room now if you look up at the ceiling you will notice that the Iker is comprised of large redwood post and beam construction so some people ask me how can you tell an Iker from a different developer like Mackie Holmes or Stern and price you'll know by the size of the beams that run along the ceiling Iker had the largest redwood beams on the ceiling and you'll see here they're in perfect condition and again we have that original [Music] ceiling there is another feature that is so incredibly important to lers the original Iker globe lights which you will see around the house a lot of people ask where can we get the globe light well there is a company called Rejuvenation they actually sell these globe lights they also have recreated Iker door knobs and other Iker [Music] fixtures another feature that makes up these Iker homes are the radiant heating systems in the floor now Iker built all of these homes with a concrete slab foundation and inside of that are all of the pipes that fill up with hot water to heat the home from the ground [Music] up here you'll see the original tile flooring that Iker used now walking through this home and seeing all of the beautiful mahogany walls you will get to these original Ika closet doors now some people pay a lot of money just to find these original pieces but what you want to do is keep them in this condition ition when you're remodeling you also want to keep the Integrity of the architecture and have something similar to show this beautiful texture of the [Music] doors thank you so much for coming with me on this tour of an all original eer I hope that you share in my enthusiasm for this architecture and I hope that you join me in this mission to preserve these homes and share with others the magic and the Beautiful beautiful design for more information on this home and other mid-century modern homes you can check us out online at modern homes rey.com I'm Monique Anton thanks for watching [Music]
