[Music] the Iker neighborhoods are true California modernist Treasures the tracks that Joseph Iker built with designs by Architects a Quincy Jones Frederick Emmons and Robert Anin are most famously located in the orange neighborhoods in Southern California and the Bay Area in Northern California but between 1963 and 1964 he also built a small exclusive track in Thousand Oaks known as the Koo Valley ERS that's where Justin and Lori ponus found this diamond in the rough they are the owners of JRP design and remodel a firm that's been in business since 2001 while Justin and Lori have specialized in design and Renovations in the area since 2001 this was their first mid-century project Lori did her homework researching mid-century modern books pouring over authentic mid-century designs across the country scouring Instagram for inspiration and of course referencing Atomic Ranch the house was built in 1964 it to was originally four bedrooms two bathrooms we um took the art room the bonus room and we converted it to aundry room and added a third bathroom L have stars in our eyes about wow what this house could be and I walked around going doll or son eyes of what we needed to do to make this house lovable and basically store it back to something that is L Lori wanted to lean into the indoor outdoor aesthetic of the midmod era and chose orange and green as her primary color palette [Music] the tiles in the kitchen and bathroom in addition to making a memorable design statement are meant to enhance that feeling of lush [Music] Greenery in the kitchen the team used frameless construction Cherry cabinets Caesar stone countertops and MAA appliances large format porcelain towels throughout the home give a clean look and commanding attention in the living room is the fireplace where Justin and Lorie chose concrete tiles from Ardo radiant heat floors in each bathroom promise the ultimate comfort and is a nod to the heated floors that Joseph Iker built in all his homes the biggest component that we selected was the window door package which came from Mard it's a dual glazed glass insulated therm RO with the end of that his black finish which was a giant focal point and being the home has so much class that our Penguins is very important to get get the correct window to honor the original i al a prank window that they had that all originally built in order to retain as much of the original charm of the exterior they used a custom M 3/4 in sighing which they also employed on some of the interior walls paying homage to the original Iker designs [Music]
