a few years back the handgun World got a little shake up with this guy the Arsenal strike one featuring some interesting design differences not seen anywhere else at the time like this little web breaker back here an ultra thin slide non-tilting Barrel interesting action type and a few other cool design bits unfortunately just about as soon as everyone started hearing about it they disappeared well thanks to American Precision Firearms these things are back and I got my hands on I strike one speed different version than the old strike one that's the 2015 model in the box is a 2023 model that's what we'll be taking a look at next on GB gun inside this interesting three hasp case which has no handle it's kind of more of a presentation case if you are a little uh I don't know it seems like something someone fancy would be holding is or strike one speed now to be honest I've already had this out of the box and played with it a bit because I was really excited that these things were back and to get my hands on a Model that I couldn't previously my existing strike one I found somewhere on the web some years after they had disappeared because I just had to have one I saw someone shoot one and I said I want one of those so I dug around and found it now you can get them new from their importer American Precision Firearms this is the speed model what are the differences we'll get to first let's go over what's in the box you get two magazines these are 17 round magazines you notice they're cut for Ambi magazine release of course they're fairly mandated lock and up top is the paperwork as always we'll take a look at that so American Precision Firearms is the Importer now for the strike one and they cover these firearms and you get a little tidbit on the fastest gun on the planet it's the quote they're giving it the speed action of these things is pretty amazing and that's the name they're giving to the action type and you get a preview of some of the different models um these aren't just different colors there's also different models in here you can even get them with aluminum frames those are pretty pricey in fact when these first came out in the US they were well above what I considered something a Striker Fired polymer frame pistol should go for since then your average price has come up and I've also come to recognize and understand that some guns are indeed worth a little bit more the manual itself is pretty straightforward for color I don't recall images there we go got photographs nothing particularly tricky in here also no notes on ammunition restrictions however there are CIP stamps on this thing that's the European firearm proofing commission if you will to try to put it in English it's actually a French uh three name agency but assuming that it's got C8 since it had CIP stamps I'm going to assume it's good for NATO ammo NATO ammo is 10 higher pressure than Sammy and Sammy plus p is 10 higher pressure so that should mean that you can get away with plus p in this why you'd need it out of a five inch barrel I have no idea speaking of let's take a look at this thing now as I understand it um because there's so much mystery about the strike one wondering where the heck these things came from it was an Italian designer there was a Russian entrepreneur that helped fund and get these things actually manufactured but it's an Italian company these are produced in Italy and got a unique action type we'll get to that in a second but first also clear and check for magazine ejection or release that is pure release folks no ejection however since we have metal body magazines now there's no friction issues so it does drop free just fine Windows Windows on the right side of the magazine is where I like them for when they're riding in a pouch usually on the left side of the person it's easy to take a look and index them also as you're bringing it up it's generally my hand is obscuring this side more than this side to be able to take a look and see where the magazine load is the back of course is my personal ideal so with that done let's take a look around the gun straight out front we have a very squared front and you can see a little bit of Target crown on the barrel there Slide the frame fit is very tight I can't move anything up front of corset lock there getting a little bit of lateral movement in the rear almost yeah I can tilt it a little bit but you can see we have these serrations go in a decent way along the side as well as this cut now this cut is because the slide doesn't need to be as tall as a Browning action but that also allows for the over top as a gripping spot to be able to rack and check that way for press checks these serrations are not Sharp but they are deep enough to give you some grip in there underneath you can see we've got six rail slots a lot of real slots you should be able to mount whatever you want and maybe something else on top of it underneath there front of the trigger guard is textured as we know to be common on European guns for that European support hand finger resting up there although it's a very short trigger guard you notice it's not super deep tall finger feels about half of it I bet you can still get in there with a glove finger with that issue but because it's so short and I don't think there's a need for the double undercut because there's nothing too undercut it's already high enough you can get and I can put my support hand very high on this thing thanks to a lack of uh trigger guard depth also there's not a whole lot of undercutting underneath back here because once again it's already high enough I mean if you look trigger guard is cutting across to the bottom edge of the magazine release the magazine release is reversible you see the cuts on both sides of the magazine for Ambi that's one of the things I noticed was different about this speed model is although I can push on this side there's not enough to push whereas on on the conventional it was a full-size button on both sides so you could push from either side quickly and easily some folks don't like that because if you're riding up high like this you run the risk of your knuckle or or hand pressure depressing the magazine release from the other side it's never happened to me but it's something I've heard people complain about texturing on the front strap is the direction it needs to be to help grip against rotation that way under recoil we've got some dimpling on the side some don't shift in your heel down here and then more don't tilt up here the texture is not aggressive At All by con by trending standards I guess you could say however I found it to be grippy enough in the past you can see we've got quite a bit of flaring to the mag wall there and the little cutout up front should you be unfamiliar with how to properly strip or fix a Type 3 malfunction that lets you get some frying in there put it on the back you can see our sight picture a nice fine and Tall fiber optic front sight and adjustable for windage and elevation black serrated rear this is the site setup that I love to use at the range and it is another difference from the original which was just the three dots another odd thing on this thing is the dots were also on the front of the sights why I don't know never made any sense to me and going around the right side of the gun we have no controls for lefties sorry folks what we do need to do before we get this too far apart is take a look at that trigger trigger talk will start make sure it's clear and uh one of the things about the speed that's different of course is this aluminum angular trigger versus the polymer hooked one that was on the original we can see we've got it pivoting here to a wall a little creep that could break our reset comes back out about part way but right back to that wall for a little creep and a little break now this is supposed to be an improved trigger over the regular I think it's probably something that's going to change with break-in case and point I've got several hundred if not a thousand rounds through this one and you can see I've got a very light take up same pivot action to the wall break reset a tiny bit of creep and then break so currently this broken broken in or one in trigger is nicer than what's on the speed well I feel an actual difference at the range we'll find out when we get there dry firing triggers is always sort of a tricky thing to field strip this thing now we'll get to the interesting part you get to see inside we want to depress this pin see it sticks out on the other side and you've got to pull that out it's retained it can be tough um sometimes I find it's easier to push back on the slide just a little bit to be able to pull it all the way to here you want your trigger tripped and the slide will come off the front and here's where we start to get to the weirdness or the differenceness you've got this beautifully machined chassis and look at all that rail sitting inside there a little bit of a feed ramp built in and although you're not supposed to dry fire with the disassemble just want to show you this lateral movement here for releasing the striker it's part of I suspect how they're able to have such a flat slide is rather than have something vertical that has to engage through an arc this way it's taking up no vertical Space by just pivoting that way and look how close the presented round is to the feed ramp it is just right freaking there which is pretty cool but interesting piece you see we've got a CIP proof mark down in there and I do have a little bit of oil on this thing but it is just beautifully clean it's like when uh you get a cylinder head decked and they just chop it smooth now inside of our slide we're gonna start spraying just like a Browning action give a little pressure pull it out it is a plastic guide rod now we have a flat coil spring there was an aftermarket company that had other spring systems for this I checked their website before turning on the cameras tonight and I'm not sure if they're still in business or not so I'll give you an update on that if they ever get back to me I tried to call them went straight to voicemail sent them an email we'll see what happens and this is our Speed Lock just to show you how this action works rather than the barrel tilting this cam path here operates on that pin that we pulled out from the takedown and when the gun gets forced back it forces this down a little bit and then it finds a track it's tough to do uh by hand there we go finds the track and then the slide is able to move back side comes back forward and that cam path pushes this lock back up in and you're locked again this goes down Cycles pretty cool by not having a tilting Barrel you're not having as much mass shift you're also able to have a much lower profile slide which should mean a lighter slide Barrel now you can take a look in that slide look at that just beautifully made gorgeous so clean I actually took my uh photos for the article in the pinned comment that's where you can get all the specs and pricing and things like that on this I took those before firing on this one because the gun came just sorting clean anyway I wasn't going to be able to uh have it be that clean again and there's our barrel with a little bit of feed ramp still incorporated into the last bits of the barrel you never see that because you usually don't have a barrel sit this low next we'll check for chamber support in checking for chamber support we're looking to see how much of our brass is supported by the chamber that's important because should you have a case want to rupture wherever it's got the least amount of support is where it's likely to blow out and as you can see here we have maybe a little bit maybe does not support it but that round sticks all the way nice and deep in there so far in fact that the extractor is reaching to basically parallel with the edge of the barrel there we dropped around in and we want to test see if it can spin freely this cannot and this is a nickel plated case so it should be extra slip slick that could be dirty from test firing or it could be that's a snug chamber okay now it's dropping in and out so I don't know what happened there but that's a good way to test for fitment when we get to the range one of the things that we'll do with it of course is a what's for dinner test we'll run 10 different loads through it in addition to the range animal we're using to find out what loads it eats and doesn't eat reassembly is the inverse of disassembly the trickiest part is remembering which direction this lock piece goes in you notice it has a dimple there that dimple goes to the rear I don't recall check real quick if the originals had that on there because it was always a struggle of mine I'm gonna feel like an idiot if I see it on this original yep there it is all right so I gotta eat that one that was something that a trick I was not aware of oh has to get this back together too with the rest of our range video you'll see absolute cold shots first shots through this firearm are done on camera so you get to see and experience the uh those true First Impressions then we'll do full mag plus one burn it down see how these magazines run fully stuffed with One in the Chamber our trademark what's our dinner test to see what the gun eats take it over to sites and Trigger control which should be fun with a fiber optic front sight and this new trigger then practical accuracy five shots from seven yards before giving you concluding thoughts that'll be in the range video those of you that are clever and have watched this far may also have noticed that I've been putting in the pinned comment of these videos the article where you can watch that range video right now or you can just like a regular viewer wait until I release it here on the channel last little bit I want to do that I'm just curious about is to see with these slide cuts that are on here and yes there is an Optics ready version or there's there are Optics Solutions I guess I'll put it that way out there I want to see if there's a weight difference in these slides to see if the speed has a lighter slide or not and I know the numbers are kind of unreadable thanks to glare in here I'll just read them to you I'm going to leave the slide the lock and the spring in place because those are the same our original comes in at a pound 1.7 ounces and the speed pound 1.7 ounces that's interesting you'd think those cuts would remove some weight maybe these sights are heavier foreign again that's pretty wild did not expect that so we've got the same reciprocating Mass despite that material being removed which was not removed on the original interesting stuff anyways I can't wait to get this into the range my local range has a match this weekend and a match next weekend because it's closed on the days when I was working stiffs could get there ah hopefully I can get the rain soon thanks for watching foreign
