This is quite funny. To be fair - and itโ€™s done purposefully - these are, beans aside, largely divisive foods in the UK.

Loads of people donโ€™t like brown sauce, branston pickle or Marmite. Theyโ€™re all rather strong tastes, with marmite being particularly unique.

Iโ€™m partial to everything in the video really -

Brown sauce on bacon or sausage butties

Marmite slathered over potatoes before roasting Branston with ham and cheese

And beans on toast, often with paprika or cayenne sprinkled into the beans.

Josh saying "I like it, Ollie hates it" about Marmite...

I'm sure they had a video with Gabie before eating Marmite.... and they both didn't like it, right? Lol

I have seen beans on toast in many videos but just today noticed it looks quite similar to a Indian dish called Rajma. The recipe also looks similar except we don't use butter or oregano...

Beans of toast done wrong. Needs to be two slices of toast on top of each other and then beans on the top slice. Not next to each other. Cut out bits that contain everything vertically. This is not well known in the uk even, as itโ€™s seen as exactly the same, but it does work. Something to do with the texture of the drier toast underneath. Prob eat beans of toast once a month and took me over a decade to get my wife to try it my way. She agreed was better, for some baffling reason, straight away. Still trying to get her to blow on her food just once instead of burning her mouthโ€ฆ

Today we're gonna be trying some British food. Oh no! We're not famous for our good food, but we have some staples that we're very fond of. What comes to mind if we say British food? Like tea. Fish and chips. Biscuits. If I'm being completely honest, beans on toast. Beans on toast. Have you tried beans on toast before? No, I see a lot of YouTubers that are British and then they eat beans on toast, but it does not look good. Okay. Well, beans on toast is one of the most classic British dishes. Oh my gosh! Hey now, Mexicans eat this too though. Exactly. That's the point. Okay. That's wild. Why is this a thing? It's definitely food. You guys eat this every day? Probably the most common sort of go-to, quick and easy meal. It's like an English salad. An English salad. That is not true. Alright, give it a taste. And you're supposed to eat this with a fork and a knife? Always with a knife and fork. No, I mean what kind of psycho would pick that up with their hands? Is it good? No! It's disgusting at first, but then when you start to like chew it more, it like slowly gets better. Okay. But it's still disgusting. Okay. Not my favourite dish. Not my favourite. It's not horrible. It tastes like beans. It's low-key good actually. I wasn't expecting it to like mix together, but that's actually good. But they're low-key sweet. It's not bad. Oh! It's pretty good. Yeah? Yeah. It's actually quite good. Okay! It tastes way better than it looks. Not top tier but, it's pretty good. It's like middle tier. Middle to bottom. Okay, I'll take that. When you first saw that, what was the first thing that went into your mind? Ew. Yeah. Like it doesn't look appetising at all. I thought it was gonna be like mad soggy, but it's actually like crunchy. So the kind of beans it is are Heinz baked beans. It sounds like dog food! Wow. The average English palate is quite bland. But if you do want to add a little bit of flavour to it, spice it up a little bit. HP sauce! HP sauce. But we would never call that HP sauce. We'd call that brown sauce. Brown sauce? Yeah. Why brown sauce? Well, because it's brown. Well, yeah, I know that. I mean like. That's what it's called? Brown sauce? That's very creative. Why is it so thick? Is it actually? Yeah, this is chunky. - Try at the same time again? - Yeah Ok, that's... quite a lot. You ready? Yeah...? Wow, that was a big bite, Livingston. It's like a healthy portion. What? It still has the horrible texture. Okay. But then now it's just like sour. Like this sauce doesn't belong on this. Is it better? No. I mean, it tastes the same. Does it taste better than it looks? Looks are subjective and so is taste. And I don't think this is something I'd want to be subjected to. Wow. Yeah. That's different. That's pretty damning. So next up, we have cheese on toast. Oh. Bruh, this is just grilled cheese. Grilled cheese, basically. Oh, this actually looks good. Look at this grilled cheese. It's grilled cheese. I like this, this is normal. Yeah. Please don't put nothing else on it. Well in England we do put something else on it. Branston pickle. Pickles? I love pickles. I don't like pickles. Is it pickles? So, what you guys might call pickle, we call gherkins. Gherkins? I don't think I want to eat something called gherkin. No for me. They're a bit salty. It's quite strong, so you probably don't want much more than that. That's about right, I'd say. You want to spread it across the cheese. There's no spreading this, it's cubes. I don't like that. You want a bit more? I'm going to try to scrape it. I thought you were adding more. This is why I don't like pickles. Okay. I like this. Yeah? Yeah. It doesn't taste that bad. Yeah. It tastes good. I actually like this one. Yeah? Yeah. I would eat this. Okay. I actually like that. Do they sell this here? I don't think so. You can probably have that jar when we're one with it today. I can take it? Yeah. I mean, I'll take it. Do you really like that? I actually like it. You're a big fan. I really like that. Okay. This is classic. As it says on the jar, since 1922. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I'm sure it's been fermented since 1922. It's very dark. It's not my second choice, third choice, not even tenth. But it is a choice. We are trying. I hope. The last thing is something that does split opinions in the UK. I love it. Ollie hates it. A British essential is Marmite on toast. What? What's that? What is Marmite? Sounds like a bug. You're thinking termite. That does sound like a bug. Have you ever seen this before? Yeah. Oh. Have you tried it? No. Oh, I've seen this on YouTube. Okay. Yeast extract? Yeast? Yeast? That's the infection thing. It says yeast extract. Eli, why would you say that? You mad... Eli... Give it a smell first and let us know what's going through your head. Whoa. I don't even know what, like, what you can even see that smell was. It smells like poison. Urrggh It's very thick. Yeah. I'd see people like eat it with spoons and they like vomit or something, so I'm guessing it tastes really strong. Oh, is that what you've seen on YouTube? Yeah. I would not recommend putting a spoon in there and eating it. As you can tell, we spread it quite thinly with butter on bread. So it is very strong, I'm guessing. It's a strong taste. Give it a go. That's strong. This is thinly? That's very thinly spread, yeah. Bro, that's burning my tongue. Oh, no. Y'all got water? I think she's about to cry. I don't like that, it's disgusting. I've never had anything that extravagant. That's one way to put it. The thing they say in the UK is you either love it or you hate it. Oh my gosh. I'm a part of the second group. It's like I got it stuck in my tooth and I can't get it off. I kinda like it. Yes! I don't know why. It's actually pretty good. We found a Marmite lover! Yes. Good man. Okay. No. No? No. There you go. I don't know why you hate it. It's actually pretty good. You don't need this in your life. Okay. But I want it in my life. All right. Well, that's been a little introduction to some classic British foods. What's your verdict overall? Interesting. Very, very interesting. Yeah, it's not something I would typically think like, oh, let me put this on toast, but there's new food inventions every day, so... So yeah. There you go. Well, in England, there really isn't new food invented every day. We've been eating this for hundreds of years. We stopped inventing stuff about 300 years ago. I think it's overhated. Overhated. Okay. Not overrated. Actually no, that one is probably hated, the last one. Overall, I don't think it's too horrible. It's just not the greatest. That was a very nice way of putting it. Very encouraging. Yeah. Has your impression of British food changed at all since today. I didn't really know what to think, but after I saw those baked beans on toast, I thought you were crazy. And when I saw this, it looked crazy, but I like this a lot better than the baked beans with toast. Okay. And we just straight up did not like that one. That was bad. Yeah, there's no fixing that. Why do you guys eat this? How do yโ€™all eat that?
