[Music] hi i'm hambit and i'm a pastry chef from korea [Music] hi everybody it's hamid here and yeah you're probably wondering why i'm in a barista outfit rather than my usual chef wear and that's because i'm going to show you how to make beverages coffees coffee related drinks etc i'm a professional pastry chef but i'm also a trained barista and i love coffee i have a lot of beverage recipes that i want to share with you and i'll start today by showing you how to make the vanilla syrup vanilla syrup is probably one of the most widely used and the most basic syrup in beverages it's not only used for vanilla latte but it can be used for any beverages where you want sweetness with note of vanilla the ingredients are so simple water cane sugar white sugar and vanilla meat that's it talking of sugar i've got an equal ratio of cane sugar and white sugar today the ratio between the two is completely up to you and you can also use any type of sugar you wish but this is a recipe that i prefer because cane sugar allows you to feel the full body of the sugar cane but using too much of it will give a color that's too dark for a vanilla syrup so an equal ratio of the two i think it's a good balance first i'm going to scrape the vanilla seeds [Music] water goes into the saucepan followed by sugar and the vanilla beans and my vanilla pot goes in as well i'm going to bring this to a boil and that's pretty much it [Music] oh i can smell the vanilla the aroma of vanilla is just so good [Music] i can already imagine in my head espresso milk and this vanilla syrup oh it's going to be so good [Music] have you clicked like and subscribe okay so that has just come to a boil i've just turned it off i don't want to boil off the water because that's going to alter the ratio between the sugar and the water i'm going to transfer this to a beaker so i can store it in the fridge [Music] i've got specks of vanilla seeds left over and i'm going to scrape every bit of it well regarding the vanilla pod here if you're going to use it elsewhere so for decorations or for making vanilla sugar then you can take it out now but if not then i'll just leave it in that'll give you a deeper flavor i'm going to cover this with clone film and leave it in the fridge so that the vanilla will be infused completely not for several hours but for several days i usually leave it in the fridge for at least three four days but you can leave it for a week so you can call this an aged vanilla syrup just like aged beef i'm going to let the clam film touch the surface of the syrup so that there won't be any condensation and condensation means water which means shorter shelf life right so i'll see you back in three days time right so that was three days that was a quick three days right here's my aged vanilla syrup out from the fridge let's take a look [Music] oh wow i can just smell the vanilla i love this color not too dark not too light slightly brown it looks like the perfect vanilla syrup now i'm going to sieve this first and then put it in the bottle using a funnel to pour in my vanilla syrup [Music] hopefully you've enjoyed this video on homemade vanilla syrup it tastes delicious so please make it and please use it i promise i'll come back next time with a beverage that actually uses this vanilla syrup until then thank you very much kamtang [Music]
