hello everyone i hope you're all right as you  may know i'm co-hosting a readathon with some   of my booktube buddies i'll put all the readathon  announcement videos in the description so please   go check that out if you haven't already  for full details the readathon's starting on   monday and i thought if you're anything like me  and you don't really have an official TBR and   you don't really know what you're going to read  next until you finish the current book you're   reading then hopefully this video will give you  some ideas and you can be part of the readathon   so i wanted to focus on some of the books that  you can read for the prompts for the readathon   but first off let me tell you about our group book  which is once upon a need i just got this in the   post yesterday i had to get the paperback version but i've seen the hardback edition which is so   nice so difficult decision to make what i love  about this is the illustrations which are so nice   so you've got like these full page  illustrations at the start of each short story   and there's also a graphic novel type chapter  type story thing which i'm so excited to get to i don't really read that many graphic novels so that  should be quite nice we're gonna be reading this   together on the live shows that we've got planned  so we really would love it if you would join us   read along with us we've sectioned the book  off and we're gonna be discussing the book live   so we'll be getting those instant reactions from us and from you it's gonna be so awesome i'm   so excited for it so onto the prompts some of these prompts you can pretty much read any book   so this readathon is actually quite a good excuse  to start ticking off those books on your tbr and be   part of the readathon the prompts are based around  the five pillars of islam which are faith prayer   fasting charity and pilgrimage the first one of  these kind of non-specific prompts is read a book   that was recommended to you obviously on booktube  there's loads of recommendations out there so you   can pick any one of those but here's just three  recommendations from me i've tried to pick kind of   different genres so my first one is the martian  by andy weir it's probably one of my all-time   favorite sci-fi's i think it's just so cleverly  written my second one is the electric kingdom   by david arnold again so cleverly written it  pulled me into the story so quickly so easily and   it's got that nice dystopian feel to it as well  and my last one is artemis fowl by eoin colfer   it's a middle grade but it's kind of the older  end of middle grade it actually sits quite nicely   between middle grade and young adult so those  are my three recommendations for you the next   one of these non-specific prompts is read a book  with the number five in the page count so 205 250   356. you get the point and the other one is  read a five star prediction so we chose the number   five because in the second pillar of islam that's  the number of daily prayers if you're stuck for   ideas on this one go check out my goodreads  because i hardly rate books five stars so when   i do it's something that's really blown my mind or  something that i've really really really enjoyed   so yeah go check out my goodreads there'll be  lots of different genres on there so hopefully   there'll be something on there for you next  prompt is read a used book obviously anything   from a used bookstore a charity shop thrift shop  whatever anything from a library it can even be   something that you've borrowed from someone which  actually leads quite nicely onto the next prompt   which is read a book that's been gifted to you  if you watch my last video then you'll know it   was my birthday earlier in the month so i've  got a couple of books that i received as gifts   but i want to show you them in a different video  but yeah this prompt is pretty self-explanatory   even if somebody got you a voucher or a  coupon that you used to buy a book then   that book would definitely fulfil this prompt  and i love this next prompt read a book in the   sunshine literally any book so if you're here on  earth and you're in the northern hemisphere then   things are finally starting to warm up and here in the  uk lockdown is finally starting to lift so grab a   drink grab a snack whatever you want to indulge  in get to the garden or the park or wherever   and just relax and enjoy the sunshine enjoy  being outside and if you're in a colder country   or if you're in the uk where we get all four  seasons in one day and it's cold or raining   then it just sit by the window where you've got  some light coming in and yeah just enjoy life the   last of these non-specific prompts is read a book  outside your comfort zone so another really cool   prompt to kind of broaden your reading horizon for me it'd have to be a romance book or   a non-fiction book my co-host cc has picked a blessed olive tree by zain hashmi for this prompt   and i think i might pick the same one so this  is a spiritual book and i don't really read   spiritual things and it's 20 short stories it's  supposed to highlight the reasons behind the five   pillars of islam so the perfect book for me for  this prompt and it aligns quite nicely with this   readathon theme as well and then there's some of  the prompts that are a bit more specific so the   first one of these is read a book with the word  god or Allah in the title so for this i think i'll   be reading something like american gods by neil  gaiman or the god game by danny toby which has   actually intrigued or piqued my interest quite a  bit because it's about these teenagers who create   this AI and then things kind of start getting  out of hand and i think it's like a technological   thriller and it reminds me a little bit a  little bit like ready player one which i loved   that's another recommendation to you by the way but yeah so i'm kind of intrigued as to where   that's gonna go the next prompt is read a book by  a muslim author so i've mentioned a few of these   in my ramadan reads video but my co-host jeff i  think has picked a really cool one for this prompt   and she's picked punching the air by ibiza boy  and yusuf salam and it really intrigues me so it's   about a boy who is wrongfully convicted of a crime  and he gets sent to prison and this is inspired by   the life of yusuf salam who himself was wrongfully  convicted of a crime when he was just 15   and it sounds like a really powerful read and  i'm interested to see how this character how this   young boy kind of climbs out of this darkness if  he does so yeah really interested by this one   and the last prompt is read a book with a muslim  main character so again i mentioned quite a few   in my ramadan reads video of course you can  use the group book for this prompt as well but   there's a few that have been on my tbr for ages  that hopefully i'll get around to reading now   so those are she wore red trainers the henna wars  amina's voice does my head look big in this the   kite runner and planet omar so this is the end of  the video i hope that gave you some ideas i hope   you'll be part of the readathon i'll put a link to  the notion in the description that'll give you all   the graphics and everything you need to finalize  your tbr and i'll see you on the live shows!
