thousand mark we can go live and take him and his son out and speaking of him i got a challenge for you guys last week you've done it for me and i want you guys to do it again so last week chris wanted to hit a hundred his goal was to hit a hundred subscribers his goal jeremy's goal is to hit a thousand subscribers before the end of the year he's at 8 56 right 60 868. so i want you guys to help him out go over subscribe give him and his channel that boost that they need to keep putting out videos and good content for you guys to watch so he does some good stuff on barron lake and cumberland river old hickory uh places like that he doesn't just do catfishing he does crappie smallmouth and something i learned about him he used to be a guide for smallmouth so that's pretty awesome that's pretty awesome so we got any questions on there yet bird coming right ass here what's up he's just gliding in he's shout outs yes he's got a little son named braden right dinks outdoors seriously follow up on that throw him a sub and then fin seeker tv as well get jeremy so fixed up i got to catch up on some of these uh things right here catfishing with slim what's going on harley hello catfishing with slim mike turner river rat uh muskrats out there chris wellington we've got him catfish headhunters maureen maurice is in the house um let's see here what else do we have any questions yet were they there oh ryan jones is watching as well um we might get to see ryan on on the channel here yeah yeah ryan get a hold of me yeah get a hold of me and we will set a date so before we get too far ahead jeremy's got a bunch of questions he he wrote down some questions and we're gonna have him read them and i have not seen the questions what's up sit in the hot seat chris sit there get your butt back here come on up here jeremy where's your where's your list bud chris is in the hot seat don't know what's coming or whatever this is a new part of the show yeah i like this and this uh so now all i can say is if a rod goes down they gonna have to beat me to it you look in the wrong direction all right so all right enough as i told you earlier i mainly fished for blues and the flatheads that's kind of new to me so i guess just kind of start from the beginning as far as locating this fish are are you actually looking for the fish or are you just trying to find the structure that would hold fish or what are you looking for so that's a good question um you know i personally you know do not look for the fish now i will see fish and you know depending on if they're an active feeding fish would depend on if they are above the structure or you know in front of the structure but 90 of the time i am fishing structures and i just try to break that structure apart if it's a tree i try to set up on it in a way that i can get my scent to go in and around it if it's a rock pile i may have to jump around on that rock pile to really pick it apart or find that that spot that's within a spot uh when it comes to you know fishing for flatheads okay can i can i interrupt you real quick i've got a comment here i think you should know fishing with the chad said finn seeker tv is his idol so there you go we're awesome we can't run this all together yeah he didn't set the standards very high i did whatever so there you go it gets you a huge fan question number two all right now that we've we found a spot we want to fish uh i guess the bait selection though live bait cut bait uh let's talk a little bit about that man you're let's see who's ready come on so so as you guys know before people got to ask me specific questions and i never told him this but these are specific questions and and i'm glad you're asking them so the time of year will make a difference spring time of year you know it can be cut it can be live both if you've got current it can be both if you are in low current situations uh warmer months after they come off spawn you know they really like that live bait now i'm always throwing some sort of live bait to let them tell me what they want but it can be both now that's going to be gizzard shad skip jack bluegill moon eye things of that nature fresh it cannot be old it has to be fresh whenever i say that you know if you catch it and you take care of it and you freeze it that's still good you know skip jack and moon eye i will freeze and re and use but only if i'm taking care of them good you know catching them putting them straight into a slurry put them into ice something like that and then i'll go home and take care of them packaging make sure they're good okay i kind of touched on this a little bit earlier before we went on but uh do you typically do you anchor on the structure when you're just coming out for flathead fishing or is there a time that you may drag baits or drift for them or so if i am specifically fishing for flatheads it is 90 of the time i am anchoring on a specific piece of structure now if there is no current flatheads are tremendously hard to catch now that is a time where i will use planer boards with live baits set just above the structure so there's a lot of work involved and this is it you'll pull your hair out and if you don't cuss you'll cuss you know kind of situation but i'll set them live baits just above that structure and let them hover and drag slowly very very slowly um and those those flatheads will come up out of that structure and feed when you're talking about anchor and everything i've got a question here that kind of relates to that the weekend ankler wants to know if her ankle anchor if we're anchored tonight or for us or good i just rented this mouth it's not broken good uh he wants to know if we're anchored tonight or if we're using spot lock again and i'll let chris explain it because we're doing something interesting the kanawha river once you get in the fall here the wind starts blowing up the river and the tail of your boat will be up against the current and chris is doing something interesting here tell them what you're doing chris so we don't have much current like he said the winds blow it was blowing up river so i was going to use spot lock because the spot lock technology has come a long way and you know it is getting to where we don't have to throw an anchor all the time so i'm i'm slow but surely getting more confidence in in spot lock but what we're doing is i'm essentially double anchoring using my spot lock on the trolling motor and a back anchor yeah so i'm throwing a back anchor out the back letting some line out like i would for a double anchor but then once i get up to where i want to be i'm spot locking and pulling my back anchor tight and the the front trillion motor will pull against the back anchor almost as if it's pulling against current and hold you straight where you need to be it i've noticed it's performing a little bit better than it had been recently with no current because that like you said it's holding against it and it's keeping us in place really nice yeah and when you com and and the good thing about using spot lock is if you're not really precise with your electronics um on getting straight in that structure where you need to be uh footage from the from the structure things like that you can just make minute adjustments uh you know forward the side up and back and get exactly where you need to be where those fish are gonna be let's throw back to jeremy but first i want to shout out doc lions walking watching hey doc i will call you as soon as uh the show is over or whenever i'm headed home buddy i appreciate you watching question number three how many questions we got oh this is probably the last one we could uh is there a particular time of year or water temperature that just really gets you fired up about catching these plants yeah i think i know what you're going to say but i want to so it is i guess oh yeah you can guess i'm gonna say may that may is absolutely right what about temperature uh let's say 60 65. yep uh when that when that water hits 60 to 62 degrees first part of spring man i get fired up i mean i i'd almost quit my job if if i could and just come out here and just live on the river for that four week period of time um that is may in the first week of june and you will catch so many fish uh big fish high numbers it is you know phenomenal well i'm a professional now well yeah absolutely i can catch him there is that it i know you got right that's all i like okay uh while we're at it here uh muskrat roger had put in a link in for your teeth for your finsticker tv so thank you roger appreciate it look down in the chat there's a link there for his uh channel and uh let's see what else we've got water temp 64. it's five degrees colder than it was last week it was 69 yeah last week now i have a question i have a question for you all right um you know you fish in southern kentucky uh barren lake cumberland river uh you know what you know with your youtube channel what is your goal you know what do you what do you want to do as uh you know as a man that has a youtube channel that's just you know starting out what is your goal okay uh kind of a long answer to this when i started out we were just doing this for fun me and my 11 year old it's just a way for us to be able to share to share our experience yeah and everything and just have something to go back and look at and uh now we're kind of getting into a little bit getting our feet wet and uh we're closing in on the thousand marks a thousand subs so i'd really like to get to that point so we can start going live out here so that's the next goal right now you know what i look back because i've got a couple grandsons that i think i'll fish on a lot and back when i first started my channel i've got videos of them you know that were five years ago or so and whenever they were six and 10 12 years old now walker my older older grandson 17 now kids tend to grow out of pappa when they get that age you go a little bit crazy but i've got video of him down at portsmouth throwing a cast net when he was 12 years old and those those are so incredible having those memories out i know a lot of people like to keep journals and stuff and to me these videos are kind of like journals we can document everything we need to know and go back and watch it whenever we need to see something absolutely and you're putting out some good videos once again guys if you guys have not went over and checked him out go over and check him out uh finn seeker tv you know he he's he's new just like you know i ever you know i don't consider myself to be a big channel or anything you know but uh you know we all started out somewhere and and uh you know hey you're talking to a man that couldn't hardly get in front of a crowd and now now it's been amazing to watch you the last couple three years yeah so so keep doing what you're doing man it's appreciated you know back when when chris started doing this about two or three years ago when we became friends chris was shy we get we get done doing something like this he's like how do i do what what i do or whatever i used to work in radio and i believe hear me talk you couldn't tell it i used to or not but he'd always you know ask me what he did and i would make suggestions and whatnot and he's come into his own now he just just gets on there talks like that brings us to our next question what kind of bait you got that's one of this year's little skipjacks and they have grown so fast and so good here recently we got a cooler full of those guys and then we got a couple uh gizzard shad that's a little one chris got a two pounder in there he caught earlier looked like a bag on hagen grubs that's nice fish hagan i don't know if you've seen his last video he had a heartbreaker the other day big old fish broke off on his on land yeah landed man that was terrible yeah it was well i was hoping he got him there there's a lesson in that if you haven't watched that guys watch it hagen's a heck of a fisherman but hagen i think he went down tennessee went fishing and had his dad and landing down there with him he got back home he got to check his lines and check his leaders and everything and he seems to think that maybe that's what happened you know been there it is heartbreaking in it though you gotta check that stuff man when you throw it out there chris going getting down in the hot tub there i thought he's gonna get in there for a minute well i was trying to catch that big gizzard chad but i couldn't we ain't kissing anything i can't catch a gizzard shot in the tank it's been kind of quiet action started out pretty good we uh we got baited up and it wasn't probably 15 minutes and you can look at my shirt man we've already got a big in the boat yeah boy 33 pounder yeah something like 32 and then we got a 37 flight and a smaller about 10-15 pound flat and you guys out there watching here's what me and chris have been up we were up here earlier this afternoon and we had we caught two flatheads up here and both of those flatheads hit like trucks hit like blue cats just bam and the raw was down it was a good bite it was a good bite and then your blue did the same thing i mean knocked down everything but uh strange how the flatheads are just hammering the baits maybe people get lucky did you hear that it was a bait in the tank yeah yeah we got trains running up through here and coyote pups and yipping yeah on the shore so we're actually what we're fishing tonight is a is a rock ledge that runs down through here um it's got some wood scattered on it we're in about 25 the 30 foot of water 30 foots more out to out in the middle of the river and then it kind of comes up 25 to a uh you know steep ledge up to the bank we're actually really close to the bank within casting distance of the bank and uh but just a lot of rock a lot of wood just a lot of scattered stuff down through there and unfortunately we've had to wait a long long time the last three weeks on a bike but we got here and put the baits out 10 minutes or so before we got started on the show maybe even a little bit more uh maybe 15 minutes before well we were in a situation there was a barge sitting across or not a tug actually across from us blowing all kinds of water and stuff right here oh here okay [Laughter] so yeah hopefully hopefully uh it's been taking about you know 35 40 minutes maybe a little bit longer and last week as soon as we got off the show once again we had a rod go down so uh try to get up here get set up a little bit early and put some fish on the boat live for you guys it's it's hard right now with no current we literally have point three mile an hour current you know once again it's very slow yeah uh let's catch up on a couple of these questions shout out to brad danhart he said he just subscribed to fan seeker so dan we appreciate you on that thank you dan thank you brother let's see here i had a good question here i'll get to it in just a second um johnny ringo asked hello again johnny uh he's he's a normal watcher he's yeah johnny he's got rick excuse me got rigs getting tangled in themselves how do you stop that from happening i think you remember he mentioned earlier that it was like santee riggs or something bring them up and they're all tangled you know a way of keeping that from happening a lot of it has to do with how you hook your bait um so uh i don't have none in here so if if you is it using are you using live bait with your rig and it getting tangled or are you fishing current give me some more details on that how long is your leader you know is your rig together and do you know if it is getting tangled in the air or while it's in the water that will make a difference as well uh if you're using live bait and you've got a long santee style rig you know it can swim around and kind of uh you know get entangled in itself a lot of times when you cast if you don't pay attention you know and kind of put some pressure on your thumb and let everything stretch out in the air it'll get tangled in itself and then you won't even know it the bounty hunter tv asks when it comes to the 30 minute rule do you ever just reel up and recast if it's a spot you're confident in or do you always pack up and move and is it different in a tournament situation so it's it can be uh that can be different day to day uh like today and what we've seen the last couple weeks you know we've had to stay a little bit longer set on those fish a little bit longer because the current situation now if you have good current um if i'm in a tournament situation it's 30 minutes um it's i i reel them up and leave because you've got to have confidence in your ability to set up on structure and how you set up on it and if if that is not if your confidence is not right there then start there and get that confidence and then move forward but you got to have that confidence in that have confidence in your bait and your ability to set up on that structure and then just constantly turn it out every 30 minutes shout out luke hinges northwood england's watching in tonight um hey luke what's up luke oh let's see here who's that guy in christmas c ohio catfish chasers in case you just joined us it's jeremy colvin with finseeker tv that's his channel and i just got an idea why don't you after we do these shows go back in the show notes and add their if you don't have the stuff in there i can do that we'll put we'll put that in the show notes and get links on there and then and also jeremy's son what what's your son's name again brayden braden's got a little youtube channel dink how old are you i think so i'm 60. dank out thinks outdoors i don't know mine's just checking out tonight man dink's outdoors thank you outdoors baby breathing yeah check out brayden and sub up to him uh bobby parker wants to know did you get the hoover this year no i did not uh between the covet and everything that kind of set us back for that i didn't make it up there um unfortunately but uh it's definitely still on my bucket list to get up there them fish are growing and growing quick real quick luke wants to know how do you like the multi-bars i like them you know i get this question a lot is is what i think about them and the they're very strong they have a super amount of adjustment on them you can adjust those things everywhere i'm not a big fan of a a bar you know like a solid bar across the back um i like to keep things open as much as i can and that that allows that and you can you can take them off with simply with just one bolt if you want to so i really like them they're growing on me more and more um at first i kind of thought about just putting everything back to the way i had on the pro cat which is just on the back but uh but i'm liking more and more if we had something to give away for a prize i would ask a trivia question right now my trivia question would be we got somebody in chat right now who owns a bait refrigerator name that person a bait refrigerator yep james duck hello james and james is out there so i did not know that how did you know that it's famous i've been in a bunch of chats yeah oh really chad everybody's wanting to kill him over just take it away okay uh so howdy james and actually back when i was growing my channel dockery jumped in and on one of the live feeds and fired people up and i got a whole bunch of subs on that so appreciate you james we do uh how do you craig craig bradley says how do you know when your baits are too old or freezer burn bait throw it out or use it so i try not to put too much bait in the freezer i mean it happens you know you always want to catch more you know more bait than what you need uh sometimes but uh i try to always use it up before it gets old but if it gets if it gets old um really freezer burnt stuff like that i normally just toss it shout out again to roger most crowded adventurers he doesn't threw up a link to thanks outdoors on in here in the chat too so thank you guys thank you roger appreciate it bud now if you want phillips i'm sorry actually i talked about you early michelle i hadn't heard a lot from you she's in chat tonight and she says stay away from her lucky spot lock or spot spot number 89 i think it is uh if i ever wait point 89.89 if i ever get ahold of your dad going the radar unit girl yeah so michelle uh she kind of really really oh yeah big flathead in a tournament by herself and won the tournament uh got big fish in the tournament and uh somebody asked her where she caught it she said waypoint 89.89 that's been it but somebody wanted to know how do you know when your bait is kind of too old well my personal opinion this is a bait that i took off there's still some there's still some blood in it but you can kind of see it's the guts are going it's kind of washed out um it's really soft kind of you know mushy been out there for about an hour so that to me would be a bait that i would just pitch and put a new one on i don't start a fight with the chad and dockery they're fighting over his cooler now um let's see here rob wickson says chris first time i use a double hook rig you tell us about uh says he's landed a lot of channel cats that's good to hear man uh i think i'm about caught up on the questions if you guys have any more questions for chris go ahead and fire them up there and chat and i'll pass along best as i can um i think i think all the fish we caught tonight have been on double hook rig i believe you're right yeah they'll double hook kentucky rig buddy they've been picking it up off the bottom one the one i caught i don't know about yours i don't i didn't pay attention to them but mine was on the bottom and that's the good thing for you guys that don't know much about the double hood kentucky rig two different baits two different depths two different size baits two different types of baits just a huge variety of things you can do with it anchor drift drag um you can bounce with it uh it's just a rig that if you don't have it in your arsenal it's like having two feet yeah two rods right you know yeah try it put it in your arsenal and give it a shot uh let's see catching with colton wants to know what cats are we mainly going for right now flatheads and blues yeah whatever but uh this man being from kentucky um so kentucky as most of you know does not have much for commercial regulations um it's slowly working wow blessed but you know their fishery is not nearly as good as as other fisheries in the united states and uh you know they don't have many flatheads in you know down in kentucky so he wanted to learn about fly heads and that's what we're coming out here to catch and he catches a big old blue first thing we catch is a big old blue cat but we've got like maybe one blue in the past month all right it'll happen i have confidence bobby parker wants to know what you recommend how far to space the hooks on double hook rig oh oh it's time donnie price how long do you give a new spot i think we covered that just a minute ago there uh about 30 minutes yeah favorite sinker on a slide or disc no roller pyramid uh really uh depends a whole lot on what kind of current you're dealing with you know if you need a disc if you've got a pretty good current just hold the bottom pretty good and the uh so that question about the sinkers that's a good question and a lot of people don't pay attention to that so straight out the back of the boat you can use you know just a normal bank sinker um you know but once you start casting even remotely to the side and you want your baits to stay spread out like they should instead of getting swept back around the coin sinkers or disc sinkers or flat bank sinkers are the way to go these sinkers will absolutely hold and and stay where you need to and of course you guys know i like to use heavier sinkers you know 6 8 10 ounce uh 12 ounce even at times yeah and some people may not be aware or even think about things like this but when you're fishing off the back just you know regardless of your current if you got two three four ounces back there it's gonna be fine but as you start to get out to the side of the boat and heavier current you might be throwing an eight ounce here and you might be throwing a 10 ounce if you're fishing straight off the side of the boat to keep them in place so there's something else all right so they ask about the how far apart the hooks need to be the double hook right so what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna tie one up here real quick and show you guys i'm just gonna tie a dropper loop on the bottom of it for right now i'll do this kind of fast while you're doing that ryan borts wants another one we're going to see another kayak video chris um actually i want to do one soon before it gets too cold because this old boy is too big to be in a kayak whenever it's cold doing out fishing uh i've crappie fished out of the kayak a couple times but not a whole lot i had never caught a catfish anymore oh my goodness it's a blast um shout out hello mike green how you doing buddy um blue color fishing how cold is too cold water temperature to target flat heads that's actually a good question when do you when do you find out they turn off chris uh normally in the fall i mean you you know we live in a really really good area where in the canal river you can catch them just about all winter long um even in the colder the colder water temperatures but it really seems like you're bigger fish your bigger flathead is what i mean by bigger you know 25 30 40 50 pound fly heads really kind of shut off completely around that 50 degree mark um you know 55 to 50 degrees so that would be that for me um now in other parts of the country you know there are some guys that say they cut off about the same or even sooner and by the way since we did push chris to the back of the boat i want to know if you guys are able to hear him okay back there because we got a pretty good mic on here just want to make sure though um we talked about this ohio catfish chasers wants to know jeremy what's your personal flathead flathead pb uh my personal best flathead is 28 pounds and my blue is 45. okay uh hang on we got a pole going down boys and girls get it get it get it oh yeah good action tv this might be a new pb flat head here we'll see we'll see got a barge coming by yeah we got a fish on well we planned that just right that's people got hooked that thing up yeah got out of there now don't forget you got the anchor back here so bring them up to the top so that coming early i hope this bard sees us yeah let me get my hand held out here fire him up a little bit oh he's got us now all right oh yeah getting busy here doing all kinds of stuff oh i think it's off no move out of the camera oh move out of the camera but that's okay hard to see you can't hardly see down here but what we got there we go oh my god flat in there we go there we go oh well let's dance flathead but we will take him i think that's a nice fish oh it is a nice fish but it's not a pb but we'll take it how about that and again you see how that sucker hit he hit hard didn't he did he took it down like crazy they're all fun ain't you yes they are there we go keeping the streak alive yeah take him down there something yeah get it real close make it look huge [Laughter] there you go get in there nice fish nice fish put him back yeah all right got a bath there we go nice good job brother now we got a heck of a we got a barge up here running he's running dang it right up again there we go fish are still biting tonight he's right there boy oh god all choked up there for you jeremy let's see which one did that come off okay all right we got any questions on there right now i think everybody was actually just watching right now don't hook harley it would be a first but it would be unexpected so everybody subscribed and luke ryan just subscribed to muskrat adventures and shoot i gotta get a drink there we go good job brother harley got crowned ah it ain't funny okay we'll get back to tying this double hook rig maybe we'll catch another one and by the way i do want to point something out while we're messing around here uh some of you guys that may be subscribed to my new channel uh the fishing buddies show actually i've decided to give up on that channel i'm gonna go back and use my old channel again of course i had over 1200 subscribers on it i thought i'd try the new one out it's not working out too good so if you see videos that you've already seen by me popping up on my new channel watch them so i can get a big old high hit count on it but uh i'm moving back i want to get rid of that other channel but once again the name is harley neal so if you get a chance uh tune in on that we got some fish on the screen right now look at would you look at that yeah yeah it's a barge bite yeah we knew they're all stirred up there so hopefully another one going down here i can't remember exactly who asked the question about how far apart the hooks are but these are if you can tell and see about two to two and a half foot apart okay and those are just dropper loops with diate d85s and then i got a dropper loop down here for my sinker and then i can tie that straight up to the swivel on the top so we got us a spare one set up we uh break one off okay this is probably about the most uncomfortable question i've ever seen in chat before but i'm gonna i'm gonna repeat it fish on asks do you guys ever miss your wives while you're fishing um yes yes i do i will confidently say that i i wish my wife and she she never watches this so it's not like i'm trying to you know kiss butt or suck up no she doesn't um i wish she would go fishing with me more um i i love to see women in the outdoors and well i do too you know and i i i wish that more more people's wives would uh would come out here well this that's coming from a three-time divorce man here and then no i don't miss mine when i'm out here doing this so i don't have one right now so if there's any any hot women out there watching you know are you serious i'm serious man what if i do get a date out of this you'll be like i can't believe you got a date off my fishing show this is a family channel i'm not telling you what i'm gonna do we go out and watch a movie or something let's talk about some flatheads it is a dayton's part of life meeting me do we have questions well you may not know now um let's see here jeff berger says i miss mine she won't go if she's good to see me go i just ate a bug i'm having a heck of a time i ain't even drinking so how long we've been uh 40 minutes 40 minutes so that worked out pretty good we actually uh we you know we have been trying to get them timed out right and it worked out pretty good and melissa roberts uh i might send you a message later she said she's available we'll see what's up ah let's see here let's see yeah stephen corley said it's a family channel so i'm looking to start a family [Music] uh okay here you go hunter 112 182. guys any tips for finding shad as the water cools down yes so i cannot wait until this as the water cools back down um we're actually fishing right now there's just a big ball of shad that went straight underneath of us but uh as the temperature starts going down you know you'll find that the shad will start to move in and they have we have finally started seeing some of those bigger shad move into the shallower water creeks you know backwaters places like that so any area that warms up a little bit more or stays a little warmer than others we was talking about this earlier he asked about barges and he said he commented and said that he noticed that i fish a lot of barges sometimes i was wondering why and one of those reasons is they will stay a little bit warmer sometimes than than other places kind of like rock and things like that so those bait fish will conjugate to those areas sometimes and you can find them around those areas brandon g says if you'll talk about keeping the bait in the cooler for more than a day without it getting soft how's your go-to method for that i want to show you well we got the bugs in here tonight so if if you're going to catch bait specifically um we'll talk about skip jack first um we just had a pogo lamb he might be gnawing on it okay so while he's watching that rod let's talk about skip jack you know for a minute if you're going to catch skip jack and you're wanting to keep them for more than a day you know get you a slurry ready so whenever you catch them you go straight into that slurry don't leave them in there too long just long enough to kind of get them cold kill them shock them and then pull them out when you pull them out pack them in ice you know put a nice thick layer of ice down and then stack your skipjack belly up you know inside that cooler on that ice and then put another layer of ice on top of it that way everything is nice and cold layered um the water will drain away from the your skipjack down into the bottom of the cooler leave your cooler tipped just a little bit with your drain plug loose or out depending on how big it is that way all the water and moisture will come out of your cooler stay off your bait and the only thing on your bait is ice now if if we're talking about gizzard chad i highly recommend you guys either invest in a tank um you know try to make a tank something like that where you can keep bait alive uh gizzard chad alive for you know a few days um it's uh gizzard shad on ice for more than any time really is not good you want to keep them alive and that way you can cut them up as fresh as to be uh musk ravinger just said good show fellas he's stepping out to set mine up roger's show is on at eight o'clock this evening
