hey everyone Steven here and today I'm reviewing the alien wear aw 3225 qf and this is a special review for me because I've wanted to try an alien wear monitor for quite some time now and I've always been hesitant to pull the trigger because these are never cheap monitors but this has all of the specs I've been waiting for and this does not disappoint this is is the year of OLED monitors if you tuned into CES and I'm going to try and cover as many of those as I financially can and this is actually one of the first ones out of all the ones announced to actually launch so I'm excited to share my thoughts on this with everyone moving into the structure of the review I'll be covering the specs first with the panel settings and then getting into what I like don't like in the gray area before wrapping the video up with that being said let's get into the specs the alien wear aw 3225 qf is a 32in 4K QD OLED monitor with a 240 HZ refresh rate anti-reflection glossy coating a 03 millisecond gr to grade response time and a 1700r curve the contrast ratio is 1 million to 1 in SDR and HDR and this essentially has infinite black levels since it's an OLED so every pixel is backlit the spec sheet says the typical and HDR Peak brightness is 1 ,000 nits and I confirmed with Alienware that this will be in a 2% window no mention of adaptive brightness or whether or not uniform brightness and scaling is here but this is a third gen Samsung QD OLED panel though and with that one of the things that they have said is that it wouldn't need to scale and just testing this out with a website I noticed that it doesn't actually scale it keeps uniform brightness across any size which is great I have noticed this in Reverse though so if you have a dark background it'll try to brighten that up but if you bring something white in the center of that it'll actually dim everything again to just bring that down so again it's kind of in Reverse but if I have a white website and I just showcase that that stays uniform when it's scaling it so my assumption here is this is going to be the limitation of the knits cuz this can hit the peak 1,000 nits but that is in a 2% window so if you get bigger than that those knits are going to drop you're going to see the overall brightness come down for this size at 4K the pixels per inch is 140 this covers 99% of the DCI P3 color gamut with a Delta e of less than two and I confirmed with Alienware that this is true 10bit color here not 8bit plus F FRC this is certified g-sync compatible and vesa adaptive sync display certified but it is not AMD free sync premium certified which I find a little bit odd but I've noticed that other reviews are saying that it has AMD free sync premium but I reached out to the company and they said that it does not some other things that it does have though we have flicker-free technology low blue light Dolby vision and vesa display HDR true black 400 looking at ports this has one DP 1.4 two HDMI 2.1 a USB type-c port and three USB ports both of the HDMI ports are fix rate links to support the 4K 240 HZ so this is technically HDMI 2.1b one of the HDMI ports also supports EC for higher audio quality that will allow you to connect this to a soundbar or another audio device which is good because this doesn't have any speakers or an audio jack all of the USB ports are 3.2 gen 1 with one towards the front of the monitor for quick access and the other two are backed by the video inputs the USB type-c port is towards the front also on the bottom of the panel and it is a downstream port with power charging although no mention of what the wattage would be here my assumption is it's going to be 15 to 20 at most for the Watts because this won't charge the steam deck which needs 45 Watts you can't use this for a video input either this uses Samsung's third gen panel as I mentioned earlier and the subpixel layout here is different it's not stack it's more of a triangle shape and so with that if I look really close I can see text fringing in general just looking at this I don't notice it much but if I kind of like get my eye close to the panel I can see it so if that's something where you notice that stuff a lot that may be something to look into a little bit more in consider before purchasing this the only thing to mention here is that this layout clear type as far as I know doesn't have an update to address this because it is a newer panel so we're going to have to wait for an update in order to be able to run clear type where it's going to have a really good effect and know how to combat this I'll have a link for a thread that discusses this further and gives really good examples of this something to keep in mind though is that the higher pixel density of this panel with it being 4K 32 in compared to 4 1840p for example does eliminate this to a certain degree I personally really have to look for this and I think it's just going to be dependent upon the person for mechanical adjustments this can raise and lower 110 mm swivel 20° to the left or right and tilt 5° forwards and 21° backwards inside of the Box you will find the monitor stand base power cable HDMI 2.1 cable DP 1.4 cable and USB 3.2 gen 1 Upstream cable this also comes with a microfiber cloth to clean the screen and the calibration report this does come with a 3-year Advanced exchange service and premium panel exchange warranty that does include coverage for OLED Burnin which is great cuz you're getting three full years of coverage against OLED Burnin and for the price that you're paying you want to guarantee that this isn't just going to have an issue in the first year and then all of a sudden you're stuck with this very expensive monitor that has burn in or another issue but that does bring us to the price here this is $1,200 which is quite steep but it's also competitive when compared to the oleds that are coming out this year with similar specs as I mentioned earlier there are no built-in speakers with this monitor which I do find a bit odd considering the price so there won't be a sound test here which brings us now to the panel menu this is controlled by a single button at the bottom middle of the panel which I personally prefer and the layout here is really good clicking this in will bring up the top panel info which lets you know the preset you're in the HDR preset if HDR is on the health of the panel and the dark stabilizer amount on the bottom you can click left or right for quick access adjustments that can also be changed in the personal tab in the main menu you can exit by clicking down and then you can enter the main menu by clicking up in the main menu the first tab is the game tab which has the presets game enhance mode dark stabilizer console mode alien Vision Hue saturation and reset game for the presets you have standard FPS MOBA RTS RPG and sports then you have the following presets which you can customize which is Creator game one game two game three warm cool and custom color if you have a preset on and then enable HDR you will have to turn HDR off in order to change the preset for the presets you can custom when you click on them it brings up another menu where you can adjust gain offset Hue saturation and dark stabilizer for the main presets You Can't customize them to this same degree but you can adjust Hue and saturation in the main portion of the game tab when in that preset next you have the brightness and contrast tab which just has those two things to adjust they probably could have actually just put this inside of the game tab which would save a little bit of space within the main menu here cuz you could just eliminate this whole tab put it inside of the game Tab and it makes more sense to be there in my opinion anyways than to be separate after that you have the input source tab which is pretty straightforward it's just where you're going to select whatever the input is next you have the alien FX lighting tab which within this you have three zones for the lighting the back logo the number on the back and then the power button on the bottom right hand corner you can adjust all the zones together or you can adjust them individually and you have 19 colors to choose from although it list 20 but the black on there actually just means that it's going to turn off the lighting the power button allows you to leave this always on off in on mode or off in on slst standby mode which I like when monitors have this option to change it because when they don't you're just going to have that light that's constantly on if your monitor is in your bedroom room that can be something that keeps you up at night the only color effect this has is Spectrum which just Cycles all the colors after that you have the display tab which has aspect ratio input format sharpness smart HDR and Dolby vision for aspect ratio you can adjust this between 16x9 or 4x3 or you can allow this to Auto resize based on the input device next you have the input color format which this has RGB or ycbc after this you have HDR and this has six different presets to choose from you have desktop Movie game Custom color display HDR true black and HDR Peak 1000 I'll have these all labeled as I cycle through them in Assassin's Creed bhalla desktop movie and game all adjust color temperature from what I can tell and it's pretty subtle true black is making things much darker in tone while still keeping things bright where they need to be while Peak 1000 seems to obviously allow for the 1,000 nits keep in mind in that 2% window but it also overall just makes the image a little bit brighter custom HDR is really nice as I haven't had this on any other monitors I reviewed and it allows you to customize the contrast Hue and saturation of HDR after that you have Dolby vision and with this it's very interesting how you turn this on so if you turn hdr on in Windows then this will pop up if you don't have that on you can turn on the smart HDR and then it will just click into that mode you can also get just the smart HDR enabled by turning on 10bit color so Dolby vision is enabled through windows and turning on HDR so just kind of unique how they have this and which one is telling it to turn on the version of HDR cuz these are both HD HDR but as you can see here you have bright dark and game cycling through those there and now I'm just going to Showcase hey if I go over to HDR in Windows if you turn this off it's going to change this back to the smart HDR so once you enable it and this is really just for Windows because we're also dealing with limited content for Dolby Vision if you're dealing with an Xbox series X console you will have more options on PC you have have some but outside of that in terms of consoles you're kind of limited so it's really just the Xbox series X and then PC where you are going to find Dolby Vision based content but overall that is more limited than just HDR hdr10 content that you may find that's just more widespread than Dolby Vision it's nice that it's here just keeping mind that you are limited and you will need to utilize it in this fashion now in terms of games if you have something that utilizes HDR but not Dolby Vision when you go inside of that game and Dolby vision is enabled it's going to just switch it back into the smart HDR and whatever preset you had on that going back into Windows it'll click back into Dolby Vision but as you can see here I'm going back into Horizon zero Dawn and now it's saying display HDR true black so in Windows it'll be Dolby Vision going back into a game if it doesn't support it it's just going to switch it into whatever preset for HDR you have on after this you have the picture in picture and picture by picture modes which I'm just going to show the tab as this has quite a bit of options for you to choose from basically though you have the sizing options and location options which most panels I've used don't have this many options so another nice touch alien Weare has here jumping down to the personalized tab you can change the quick access short cuts to any of the things I've covered so far last you have the others tab which the main things I want to cover here is the OLED maintenance which has pixel refresh and panel refresh the pixel refresh takes 6 to 8 minutes and it says to do this after every 4 hours of cumulative use you can also tell this to do it whenever the monitor goes into standby mode by default which is nice for the panel refresh I'm actually just going to bring up the menu and showcase that so I can read from it it says when a static image is left on your OLED panel for several hours activate the pixel refresh function to maintain image quality select proceed to turn off your monitor and activate the refresh function now the process will take an hour to complete during the refresh process you may see a color line scrolling on the screen with the power indicator blinking do not unplug the power cord from your monitor from what I've read you want to perform panel refresh about once a year or when you start to notice that you have more image retention than you usual you don't want to do this too many times though as the more you do it it may actually just start to diminish the overall life of your OLED panel last in this tab you can see the firmware version and you can run self diagnostics on the screen next is a response time test and I'm using the osrt device from Tech Team GB I will put a link for his video explaining this device other Tech YouTubers line Hardware unboxed they use devices to test response times I've never really gone down that route but this is the year that I want to actually start getting into that with this device again we are testing response time I'm not going to cover every single detail here I will put another video link in the description from Hardware unbox that goes into what you are looking at with these charts here the big thing here is that with this I'm confirming that this is at least sub 1 millisecond for the grade to grade response time now they advertise this as a 03 millisecond response time but utilizing the test here we can see that we're getting 3 and above if we go to the average initial response time and then we start going down that list in the bottom left hand corner you can see what we're getting with those response times and then you can see the best and the worst now as this is a new test for me I don't expect this to be perfect my big thing here was just confirming that this was under 1 millisecond and so I'm going to wait to see what the results from other Tech YouTubers shows with this some of them like Hardware unbox they use a different device but also see what Linus comes up with again just comparing this and with this test I ended up running this for multiple rounds of 10 just to see what I could do with this and compare all of those data points and then show essentially cross all of these just an average here but I do expect that this is most likely going to show up possibly a little bit better with other hardware onbox for example Tech YouTubers doing their tests because a lot of these oleds you end up seeing this is like 4 or below we see that early on in the test but then we start to see it actually go down if we're looking at the perceived response time in terms of the time and the transitions up there there so I'm going to wait to see what they show with that but at least here I am confirming this oleds are insanely fast if you look at the UFO ghosting test you're not going to see any ghosting or inverse ghosting usually with these panels they're just again insanely fast and it keeps that as you go from for this it's 240 down to 120 you start to see a little bit of change in that once you get to 60 typically with these monitors because just how fast this is can't just imp proove 60 HZ that's just a slower refresh rate but again across the board generally this is just insanely fast no ghosting no inverse ghosting so now that I've covered the panel menu let's get into what I like and there is quite a bit here as for me personally this is the OLED I've been waiting for 32 in at 4K and 240 HZ is everything I've wanted and now it's here with other companies coming out with these same specs in the following months there's going to be a lot of competition this year but this is the first one to launch visually this thing is stunning but it did need some adjustments to get there it wasn't great out of the box in terms of the presets once you get all that lined out though this looks incredible and I'm going to have all of the different footage labeled between SDR and then the type of HDR including whether or not it's Dolby vision and I'll make sure that I label what game it is as well so the Alienware here in terms of the vision visuals it does not disappoint just keep in mind you're going to need to spend some time calibrating this I'm going to talk about that a little bit more here in a little bit I just hope with this though people don't get turned off from this monitor before they actually address this because I think they're going to do this here hopefully in the next handful of months with a firmware update now once you do calibrate this content on this regardless of whether or not you are in SDR or HDR looks in incredible and I do like SDR on the Monitor and I've usually shied away from just playing games exclusively in HDR because most of the time when I'm dealing with a regular VA panel it doesn't have the nits that I want it doesn't have the proper amount of color or anything like that for it to be a very enjoyable experience because I'm usually having to go back and calibrate it for a specific game and then recalibrate it for a different game and then turn it off when I'm in windows with this I've just left it on and they give you plenty of options one to calibrate this but also to tailor the visuals to what you want which I think is awesome that may be overwhelming for some but if you are into being able to do that you have a plethora of options here I like the different versions of HDR that they have now you're dealing with the first three settings where if you're just dealing with like desktop or movie or game some subtle differences desktop to me is the one where just kind of is like a standard color mode and then you get a little bit warm when it goes into game mode and then movie mode is going to be a little bit cool so with that it's almost just a subtle change in the color temperature when you're looking at the other versions custom HDR you're looking at the true black HDR and then Peak HDR 1000 those to me are the best modes some notes with this just messing around I've noticed certain things so if I if I enable HDR in Windows it may click into just regular HDR with the panel and I set that if you start to go through these adjustments you're not going to really notice anything potentially in Windows you boot up a game that has HDR now you're going to notice these differences with these different settings and I don't know if this is a software issue with Windows 11 which is what I'm running or if it has to do with something with the panel now once I enter the game I can adjust those different settings you will notice the difference once you jump back into windows again you're not going to notice these differences potentially most of the time it doesn't do anything for me if I turn off HDR now it'll go back into SDR and this whole time Dolby vision isn't available then I turn on HDR again and then it's going to go oh you were just in HDR okay let's go ahead and click this into Dolby Vision so the there's just some quirks with all of this that I've noticed using this now for the last couple of weeks it it isn't as straightforward as I was hoping it would be so you may need to spend some time actually going through all that stuff just to nail this down now once you have the HDR that you like typically it's a set it and forget it which is nice but you may notice that oh I'm playing a game and it is HDR true black but now I exit that game and it goes back into Dolby Vision again there's just all the quirks with all of this in Windows the different modes you have bright dark and then game for Dolby Vision you will notice a difference in Windows between those settings and actually kind of bright and game look pretty similar so I mean they're they're pretty subtle differences with these but for Dolby Vision that is geared towards certified content or games on PC and not everything is going to be certified that so this kind of just whatever it's based off of it if it has Dolby Vision cool you can utilize it if it doesn't it's going to shift back into the regular HDR version transitioning over to consoles to me I like consoles for HDR more than PC a lot of times because it is more simplistic because you just enable it you have a couple adjustments and then you're really just good to go hdr on the PlayStation 5 looks incredible um just going to Showcase some footage of horizon forbidden West I mean that game just is stunning on this monitor it's stunning in general but this one it just makes all those colors pop it looks great you look at God of War Ragnarok that looks great that is going to be just HDR you can do the adjustments in the panel really easy simple to do you shift over to Xbox you're going to have more options because some of those games do utilize Dolby vision it's always going to pop up in the right hand corner and let you know hey this is going to be utilizing Dolby Vision which is nice but with the Xbox you do have the option for that so it's really just the Xbox and PC where Dolby vision is going to be utilized you can't do it on a PlayStation 5 a PlayStation 4 the pro you can't do it on a Nintendo switch so you have the Xbox series X and Xbox One X and the Xbox series S I believe that can all do Dolby vision and then the PC like I mentioned so again just things to be mindful here some quirks potentially to work through as you're trying to utilize HDR but once you have it again the experience with HDR is going to be great it's just some hurdles to kind of go over in order to get there which is kind of a bummer now with consoles 2 you are getting 4K 120 htz with variable refresh rate this is the first time on the Xbox series X if you look at just the video modes that you have available to you this has all green check marks on it this covers everything which is awesome so you have all the options that the Xbox series X has with that keep in mind though you're going to need to go in and potentially enable through the settings with the Xbox Dolby Vision obviously variable refresh rate and then making sure that any other things that you want there like clicking over to the 120 Herz you need to click on check all those things in order to have them with the performance though it's been great haven't noticed any issues across the board with the Xbox series X or the PlayStation 5 just really good visuals really good performance in terms of the variable refresh rate and hitting that 120 htz now coming from the Rog pg42 uq which is a 42-in OLED monitor this was a size downgrade for me but in terms of the desk size that I have with the main rig here in the house it's kind of overpowering when you're sitting in front of a 42in screen like pretty close to just a couple feet away so this to me in terms of the 32 in just feels really good the refresh rate on the Rog was only 138 htz this one is 240 I mean it's just incredibly smooth again response times here they're going to be smooth with just about every OLED but raising that ceiling from 138 HZ all the way up to 240 HZ as long as your GPU can handle it you are going to obviously notice a difference and it seems like 240 htz with all the oleds coming out this year it seems more like the standard as a matter of fact in the industry it seems like we are shifting towards 240 Herz being just more common obviously these are high-end monitors so this is more expensive but I'm also finding this on other monitors that aren't in the same price bracket I did a review of the RCA I think that was the evolution premium that one is like $400 and that was 240 htz now granted that is I believe a VA panel it's not an OLED but again you are starting to see that 240 HZ is becoming not only more popular but kind of leaning into it being the standard that I think here especially in the next couple years we'll just see it is kind of just the overall standard of the industry not knocking 100 120 144 165 Hertz it just it's faster and again I think we're just going to keep leaning and now we're seeing monitors that are 360 480 what we I think one was 560 that I just saw and if you haven't played on a monitor that is 240 HZ or higher it's again if you have a GPU that can handle it once you translate that into games it just creates a very large level of smoothness that can even overcome like with the RCA monitor it can actually overcome some of that ghosting not that oleds have that issue but when you do increase the refresh rate and it goes really really high that had a 1 millisecond Motion Picture response time you start to see less ghosting because you have so many frames per second with that not to say that it's not there it just minimizes it so with this being already insanely fast with the sub 1 millisecond grade to gr response time and the 240 HZ everything just plays incredibly smooth that's not just games again if your GPU can handle it that is day-to-day opening up applications moving things around the screen it is just very fast very smooth now the video I have been showcasing of the size differences here doesn't quite do it justice for just how big the Rog monitor is in person but that's also a flat panel it's not curved like the Alienware which I'm glad they went with a less extreme curve for this size nothing against the th000 r curve it just is better suited for something like that's a 49 or larger monitor on 32 in it just feels a little bit extreme just based off your sitting distance the 1700 R curb here feels like the sweet spot so if you don't want to curve there are a lot of other 32-in 4K oleds coming out this year that will just be flat panels and I like that we have seen a lot of Curves and we're going back to more flat panel options just for diversity amongst panel so you're not stuck with having a curve if you don't want it so to summarize everything here the big things that you're going to want out of this monitor they do deliver on that you're getting a 32in 4K OLED with the infinite black levels here and then just the insanely Vivid visuals and the colors that this has and of course the really fast response time that all just comes together in a package that to me is really really good now they don't nail everything but some of these things can be fixed down the road through firmware updates with that being said let's go ahead and shift over now into what I don't like about this and I'm judging this off of the price bracket this sits in so do keep that in mind starting off is going to be the calibration it just needs some adjustments we talked about this a little bit earlier I almost paired these together cuz it it was going to make a little bit more sense but go over this again right so the calibration here it's going to need some adjustments because by default at this price point I just think you shouldn't need to spend a large amount of time adjusting the panel to make it look good it should look pretty good out of the box with this I was expecting more it didn't deliver there once I did those adjustments I was like okay yeah this thing looks incredible but down the road we get a firmware update my hope is that yes for everybody else that gets this right out of the box it's going to be solid that pairs with the HDR issues that I was just talking about right the the little quirks of what's going on with this hopefully that gets resolved but I don't know if that is an issue with the panel settings or something to do in Windows 11 I am leaning more towards Windows 11 and whatever information it's communicating to the panel but I've not had that issue with other monitors because the other monitors I've reviewed so far don't have Dolby Vision so I don't know with this but again with the Rog pg42 uq monitor that had similar issues with just it needing better calibration in terms of SDR and more specifically HDR and that came down the road with a firmware update I am expecting that with here at some point I just don't know when that's going to happen I've not heard them say anything about this but I know a lot of other people are talking about this with it just needing again a better calibration here now this by no means diminishes how incredible this can look after these adjustments but that's going to be based off your level of skill in regards to that whether or not you're using some type of tool now I have a spider X and I didn't mention this earlier up until this point I was going to actually run just a color calibration on this I wanted to make sure hey where are we sitting with the color calibration but that I looked into it it actually isn't geared towards OLED so I'm looking into a different device because that one works great with VA and IP PS panels but not with oleds so here I ran the test but I was like I don't even know if these numbers are correct because again it doesn't actually have the option to say hey this is an OLED panel and then utilize the software to do that so hopefully down the road I will have something better to actually test this so this was just based off of my skill set in fine-tuning the monitor to what I personally like which is a more Vivid and bright look to the visuals here next no speakers here is something that personally I just think shouldn't be the case considering the price point not only should this have speakers but I think they should sound really good this is $11,200 now the inclusion of the ERC support is great but personally I don't use a soundbar with a monitor and the requirement of needing external speakers just bugs me when you are paying this much that might not bother everybody but again I'm trying to judge this based off of that $1,200 price point and almost every single monitor at that price point has speakers this has none last the type-c input here not only has low watt output so you can't use it to charge any of your handhelds or laptops but this also can't be used as a display input again at this price point to me when we're looking at these two particular things this is something I am expecting considering you have monitors that are half this price that have this now I understand not everyone will care about this but the higher the price point the more options I'm expecting that they're going to have with the monitor not taking certain things away now that's going to be it for the negatives and now I'm going to shift into the gray area which are things you may or may not care about starting with the molding which is a bit bulky now personally I'm always drawn towards Alienware designs but I know it's not for everyone and the stand here is actually much larger than a lot of the other monitors I've reviewed over the last couple years it's it's chunky it takes up a lot of desk space which I don't have a lot of cuz my desk is only 2T wide and this is almost half of that so it just has a larger footprint with it but again personally I actually like the Aesthetics of this maybe shrink the base of the stand a little bit but overall the visuals with this thing I think are really good but I also understand that it's not going to be for everyone next this doesn't have a KVM switch which personally I like when monitors have this but not everyone is going to use this or care if it's not there now this ties into the type-c input not being able to be used as a display input a little bit because if you could do that and this had a KVM switch you could run a handheld or laptop to the monitor via the USB type-c while it charges that device and then you could use the same Mouse and keyboard connected to your PC through that KVM switch and then it would control those devices as well it just makes everything easier when you are going to be running multiple devices to a monitor I've reviewed monitors that are $400 or less that have a KVM switch so it would have been nice to have here and if those monitors at that much cheaper price point can do it surely at $1,200 that's something that they could include next we're going to have the finish on this this has that glossy finish and I've seen most people are torn a lot of people like it and a lot of people don't I've used a matte finish monitor most of the time I've used a handful of glossy I do like how much the colors pop on a glossy versus a matte finish but that also means that it is way more reflective so if you are in a bright room you're going to see a lot of things reflecting off of the screen I'm not in a bright room so it's never really an issue for me but I could see if you bought this and you get it into your house and your room does have a lot of Windows or something in it you start playing and all you can see is the reflection off of everything it's going to drive you crazy so this part here just know are you in a room that has a lot of lighting that is going to be reflective off of this screen you may want to wait for a different monitor that has a matte finish on it versus this if you're not then it's kind of going to boil down to personal choice with this and generally what I've seen is people either like it or they don't most people like the matte finish on a monitor most people are cool with that with this glossy finish again either you like it or you don't and that usually is dependent upon the room but sometimes people just don't like the glossy finish in general even if they're not in a room where they're are a lot of Reflections they just don't like it so if you can see this in person obviously that will help but I would in general say if you're in a room that has something that is going to bring in a lot of light probably don't get this if you're not you should be fine and that also is dependent upon the angle if it's just like some lights overhead that's not going to reflect off of this it has to be again a large window or something like that that's shining at an angle that would hit this and then reflect back to you you last here is going to be the subpixel layout with the New Gen 3 cutie OLED panels from Samsung as I mentioned earlier some people may notice more text fringing on this but I think you have to look pretty hard to see it the upside here is the incredibly Vivid visuals this can achieve but that is one of the big selling points of oleds along with the infinite black levels and Crazy Fast Response times so unless I have this side by side with another OLED it's going to be harder for me personally to see a massive difference I have to like jam my eye really close to this now I'm going to have a link in the description for a video that gives the updates of the New Gen 3 panels but a quick summary here of some things that this does have we have higher nits two times the durability and an increase in the refresh rates that go as high as 360 htz so this is the newest generation here yes they did change the subpixel layout potentially some fringing on text here but I think you're going to have to look hard to see it but I'm gonna have people out there that are going to be like dude I noticed it so much I can already tell in the comments with this so if you are prone to noticing those things maybe try to see this with your own eyes first before you commit to buying it now couple last minute things to cover here are really just one particular thing with this you do have the pixel I know on the r it's pixel cleansing or cleaning with this you have the pixel refresh hey it's going to spend 6 to 8 minutes it's going to go through and it's going to clean up some stuff so you have this last longer without any OLED burning and then you have the panel refresh where it's actually going to need a full hour again I mentioned earlier you don't want to run that too much cuz you could actually potentially damage that but once a year run that pair that with that 3-year warranty where if you do get OLED burning there going to replace this for you I think as a total package with all of that stuff that's really good for oleds because that's unfortunately inevitable at some point you're going to get burnning do what you can to mitigate that run the pixel refresh run the panel refresh make sure that you don't have static images just sitting on there those are certain things especially within just Windows where the bottom tab we need that to actually go away the the task bar I don't want that popping up all the time and just sitting there get rid of all the icons on your desktop change out the image every now and then on the background certain things like that do help a lot of people may not like that though they're like I don't want to do all this extra stuff I just want to hop on I don't want to think about it I just want to be able to play if you are like that then just oleds in general probably aren't going to be your thing because unfortunately right now that comes with the territory with this though being the third gen panel from from Samsung I do like that it says it is two times more durable than the previous generation which is nice so hopefully we have less issues but I bet if I did a search right now I would find threads where people are saying that they're already having issues or the panel came and it was broken that that is another thing that unfortunately just comes with the territory not only with oleds but just with monitors in general the Rog I got the first one came the whole screen was cracked I had to send it back wait for the next one they had issues with shipping where the screen was getting cracked in shipping these are going to have certain issues and it just seems unfortunately that it is more probable with these oleds that you may get one I don't know you could have dead pixels you could have a crack in the screen whatever it may be I think they're getting better over time again two times more durable they are getting better over time but we are just I don't want to say in the infancy of oleds here but we're still in those early phases and development with this where it's going to only get better over time so in conclusion this is my first alien wear monitor it didn't disappoint I really like this thing this just again checks so many boxes for me personally and this is kicking off a crazy year packed with new OLED monitors and I think this is a great way to start off the year the alien wear isn't cheap but it holds this competitive price while delivering all the upside of the OLED monitors with these particular effect again just that good sweet spot 32 in 4K 240 HZ and I've just been waiting for this I know a lot of other people have for quite some time it's finally here but we have so many other monitors coming out this year too this is just the beginning now if you have any questions about this monitor let me know in the comment section I'll have a link for this in the description if you want to pick it up and my apologies for this being a very long video but there was a lot of things that I wanted to cover that I'm not seeing every the YouTuber cover on this like the HDR stuff and a couple other things that I saw pop up but it also gave me a chance to Showcase hopefully a good wide range of gameplay footage so you guys could see what this looks like and how it performs if you're wondering what the thing is on top of my screen that is the Gobi dream view Pro I also have that paired with the M1 light strip from and I will have links for that in the description if you want to pick those up as well cuz it just pairs very nice with just a PC in general or console just adds to that because it uses the camera to pick up on the colors on screen and then displays those to the light so it looks really cool in person and that is going to wrap this one up if you guys like the video
