Why I'm Returning the Alienware QD-OLED 360hz Monitor (AW2725DF)

hey guys I picked up the Alienware QD OLED the 1440p 360 HZ and I just wanted to share with you guys my user experiences all right so you guys can probably tell the Alienware OLED is currently not displaying an image I did run into an issue during my testing I think on day three or day four of testing today um I did get some clips of gameplay and comparisons between the Asus 1440 360 IPS and the Alienware 360 OLED so I want to talk about that and kind of describe what I was perceiving uh between the OLED screen and the IPS and then afterwards I'll talk about the issues I ran into and why I am returning the Alienware OLED overall I would say the colors look a little bit better on the Alienware in comparison to the uh Asus but the Asus is exceptionally good both of these monitors are very fast very good monitors again the main difference being if you want OLED and how does the OLED panel the Alienware compared to the IPS I would say that I pick up a little bit more detail in things on the Alienware in comparison to the uh Asus monitor in general things around the map and even like just details on weapons and things like that um everything looking really nice really crispy on the Alienware monitor I would say in terms of motion Clarity both of these monitors are damn solid um the main thing I would say is when I'm flicking my mouse around it just feels better on the Alienware monitor in comparison to the Asus but like there's not really a lot of horizontal fast movements in valerant so the motion Clarity in this game it's not really as big of a deal in my opinion but I would say just the responsiveness and the crispiness I feel a little bit more uh responsiveness on the OLED panel in comparison to the IPS panel on top I think both of these monitors for valerant definitely both feel fantastic the 360 HZ IPS panel feels fast responsive the motion Clarity is great and then going to the OLED it feels great as well I'm trying to bounce back and forth between the two of them and distinguish into difference but I think the main difference I can really feel is a little bit of a Clarity boost on the Alienware OLED and it does feel ever so slightly more responsive and fluid on broad sweeping Mouse movements it's kind of like a more of a raw feeling compared to the IPS panel and I think the glossy finish does have a nicer aesthetic generally compared to the a little bit of a matte coating on the IPS panel and you guys probably can't make it out on your screens but the Ola just has a really nice rich red on the starting screen whereas the IPS panel actually comes off as orange so definitely better color accuracy and richer colors on the Alienware OLED and keep in mind with my window open there is a bit of a glare on the Alienware OLED in comparison to the IPS take taking the game into the finals I really thought that the brightness was going to be an issue because the game is quite dark on a lot of the maps and there's a lot of dark areas but I didn't find the brightness to actually be an issue the monitor definitely feels very fast and very responsive and again that motion Clarity on broad sweeping Mouse movements you really feel it in the finals one thing I would also point out is that the colors are so rich and differentiated on the OLED compared to the IPS you can really see the player outlined a little bit better on the OLED and again just the broad sweeping movements quite a nice Clarity and just fluidity feel on the OLED in comparison and with the richness in the blacks it's almost easier to see things through smokes and debris no it's not to the level of you know being god tier but it does have a nice differentiation so I wanted to get you guys more Clips more videos of the monitor but unfortunately by day four of testing my monitor is actually not displaying an image it's almost like it's in a permanent sleep cycle I've powered the monitor off I've tried HDMI the different display port and nothing is showing up on the screen the OSD is not showing up on the screen I've reviewed Reddit and other people with other models of Alienware monitors have said that it actually required a full swap an exchange getting a different monitor I don't want to go through that process because during my testing I noticed intense eye strain playing on the Alienware monitor for about 4 to 5 hours IE strain that I've never experienced on another OLED panel or another monitor in my lifetime it was almost like a feeling of IE strain but then you also have um when I was reading text messages on my phone or my Twitter feed my YouTube comments Etc it was just a very weird sensation after playing on the monitor for quite a while even alt tabbing and going back to the desktop and looking at text um it was just very peculiar I did feel by day three uh the night of day three the ey strain was beginning to feel a little bit better um but that sensation with reviewing different text was still present um I don't really like that and I'll probably end up waiting for a different OLED panel I did think that there are differences that you can appreciate between the IPS panel and the OLED again that Clarity with broad sweeping Mouse movements um as well as a little bit of extra Clarity boost especially at a distance almost like more detail is popping up uh on enemy skins or teammate skins more details popping up on the maps particularly in Apex but I did feel that the brightness hit between the IPS and the OLED for Apex in particular um I didn't really like it I think Apex just the scenery the way it is the probably the only game that the brightness differential had an impact I didn't find the brightness to be an issue in any other title that I've tried so for me the Alienware because of these issues unfortunately I have to end the video here I can't continue to get Clips because the monitor is just simply not working I can say though that I plan to return the monitor regardless because of those eye strain issues so it's probably something that um happened for a reason I'm going to end the video here guys because again unfortunately I can't continue the testing hopefully this shed some light on the things that I noticed in game the ey scen issue and then unfortunately on day four um a very large issue uh with the panel just not displaying an image that's
