There is no middle ground with them. Laynes voice summons a depth of emotion that speaks to our hidden lust for vice. He sings with more feeling and experience than most of us know and the ones who do, cling to his peace within the pain.

I’m 41. I grew up loving “old school” hip hop and bleached denim heros, this band tore me apart.

And they still fucking do.

Layne and crew were deep. Solemn. Contemplative. Disturbing. Fucking soul crushing. And fun.

I don’t care if you were a junky, jock, Presbyterian....

You either loved Alice In Chains or you had no soul.

RIP Layne. I would have loved to see what you’d do but I’m glad we got what we got.
