Album in a Day 2019 (w/ Andrew Huang)

is October the first we rented uptown recording studio for a day session we don't have anything written at all at the end of the day we need to have a 10 track album 12 hours we're giving ourselves lunch this time maybe a dinner stop and watch a full movie so our one day a year band 1st of October is back whoo and at the end of the day we'll have an album that one's kind of neat just to say it like that like 10:00 p.m. tonight there's gonna be an album 12-string tuned down a half step nylon string new Chapman bass and then this thing that I got for 150 bucks that's short scale so yeah if we have a chord progression we like on that you can pick it up same fretboard and then you're in a different key got this 1500s medieval what do they call it again this thing's crazy damn Punk for some piano on that yeah I think it'd be cool to end with a piano ballad and then of course drums drums oh you'll have your since this is a little baby drum machine super fun to just jam on and then this it doesn't have real keys so it's kind of like pressure-sensitive because I want to start like right at 10 all right for drums oh yeah we got different rules okay laundry on three okay one two three yes let's do it together the energy suddenly totally changed what's this instrument and how does it work yeah can you hear me I don't think I'm here yeah I'm not hearing anything Robert classic yeah I'm not hear my voice are you ready no and he lets it clicked in vim yeah yeah so can someone go back open this up something real like up these fast just get going maybe start from the beginning just start with that I like that rib and then yeah like a long buildup [Music] [Music] I feel like this is like a big just intro yeah yeah and then we could maybe even end on like a really triumphant with probably we don't want to do too much on the twelve I'm gonna go too look at that thing and I think Mike fast just like a punky thing [Music] yeah okay sweet [Music] so to be somewhat of a somewhat of an intro I feel like it's a cool enough thing that we could start with guitar [Music] the riff is different enough in the chorus then if we come up with a different vocal part once we're in double time this will be a solid super fun song cool yeah all right okay yeah I'm feeling it this could go right into Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and no one would even notice one hour and let's do it ready drag it yeah ready trap key problems do this ready all right let's go let's go it's not you to me right it's just like how hard I hit it I'll try to be pretty consistent okay [Music] [Applause] yeah where's that bugged in the output [Music] [Laughter] [Music] okay Thank You plankton that ravioli price has gone up I know drum part for the ravioli there should be one part where you follow it but the rest should just be a straight beat okay cool yeah I don't know how to start it [Music] the ravioli only now yeah so what if it's like second chorus instrumental riff then that part okay do you like that kind of like yeah the very end I love just one two three four and we can have chance like red feet yeah is that it I actually kind of liked it like it was it was dirty but in a good way one part in the slap bass that I really screwed up should I punch that in now or do it later yeah it's just punched in that one sweet thanks man nice which again you want to do bass yeah I feel like we would play bass very different Oh totally [Music] some of the times the drumbeat just does like some of the same stops is the bass yeah yeah yeah I think the vocal melody and the synth can like come later but I think that bass line in this drum is yeah he's got that stack where is yeah yeah it feels a little bit empty now okay this resonator I think we can roll on this cool yeah ed we're rolling always what time are we yeah like 12 14 double album do you want to do the piano ballad it seemed you ran right to the piano yeah you do use that chord progression halfway through the song and then it comes in with drums [Music] everything's around debate [Music] [Music] first of October [Music] yeah we got a I love this having the different instruments makes it so if you pick up an instrument like we got a song right away yeah ordering food for lunch and then I picked this up in strummed it's like okay I got something [Music] or maybe it's like I use those same boys but for something [Music] I look up to just cut completely and you go back to the verse [Music] yeah you still have eight hours so we got this part can't be some man me we could change it from mad at me though cuz that's very like non lyrics sounding [Music] pretty okay she would just take it off Jerry Jerry scared me for some I know [Music] yeah my fingers doing the same rhythm over and over it's starting to get gummed up because like I could keep on trying to get it from the top but I think it's just gonna deteriorate yeah yeah yeah we don't have all the parts so why don't we go and just farm the targets that repeat maybe when you're shooting that together I'll just bring this on to another room and try to write something yeah that leaves three songs to go I need to come up with a song on six string guitar have you ever done it before never [Music] that's cool I like it yeah it's pretty funky but is that good my porridge in my cat's name I didn't want the dead now my cat is set with the 30-year fixed mortgage and if money starts getting tight I'm just gonna leave [Music] one is painting my living room 28 pants I need a broom 8:28 is always the random number I got a list that I got the beginnings of zone just finishing making sure we gotta get it right got it I think the last time we finished all the structures and then we have like two hours left or something to do they call the lyrics I was this seven yeah all right let's do eight the beginning is really cool but then I'm not really sure what it [Music] no there's something about it that doesn't quite seem right let's do okay all right cool misters are happening yeah [Music] yes hey awesome I love this sick I wished I could say it was in the last album yeah like that this is like verse of chorus nice where do they go I'd like to do what key change but that's all I figured out same thing at a different key I still feel like the chorus needs something you gotta have a great vocal line on top everyone has shoes you know I can make it really epic yeah [Music] I was sticking course change to chorus oh okay yeah and a song [Music] [Music] all right we need one more exactly four hours left cool so this next song then you're doing with adventure time even the perfect song to express our brain status right yeah how do we make this a song that is recorded all that yeah yeah this on its own I don't know if its own trash okay I mean we could just start another song acoustically we want to do on the last track [Music] maybe we're just not feeling distortion at this point Ron can I get this back to it I mean this is gonna come out really funny purchases [Music] that's it songs that's on this is about where we were last time so now the pressures on okay have less than tween is cool Wow turbo through bass turbo through guitar I'm trying to get a grasp of what we still need vocals on we need vocals huh yeah needs vocal what needs bass and vocals Wow to do song for which is the funkier one needs guitar and vocal five needs bass and guitar some sick knees vocal I just did the cow zone one whichever that is I could jump in and do that hopefully finish writing bridge on this and Valerie Oh a bridge on this song yeah let's figure it out together and it's not February yeah [Music] did you write the Tony Hawk one we have less than an hour my cones of dunshire I'm right there with you guys what's that that was it that was add so much stuff to that but so yeah number one yeah we could just improv yeah I keep hearing no I got a part brewing I got a cup brew and it could be about coffee and there you go okay caffeine some yeah okay so what's up next or needs a guitar isn't cool or it could just have bass oh no I got it I got a notepad and this would be total writing that right now awesome do you feel like I do [Applause] it's really hard with oh yeah yeah I mean it kind of sounds like a love song oh it does this person like me here why not mm-hmm but I've been in a committed relationship for eight years so I'm just writing about how I want to go skating with my friends there's so many words in it yeah I just repeat it yeah it's si [Music] I could say I've been wrong that's what I was doing in the scratch yeah I love okay I think I can't pain it's just two verses right yeah yeah myself okay the other lead vocal part for the choruses [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] I mean I think that's what it has to be okay [Music] spunky thing I could just throw like synth sound effects over top as a layer that you'd like I would much rather hang out to do for that one song what song for funk song do we can just go in there and make it up hey wait Ben I've been hanging wish pickup with a friend what who who are they a bunch of friends that I met today we got about 2:30 left on the clock [Music] do you have time - two minutes so the album is out and it's been mixed and mastered it's called gourmet ravioli it's out everywhere and there's an album stream of it on Andrews channel
