Alaskan Milling Butcher Block | Idaho Mountain Homestead

sick of him already and it's 9 a.m we're pulling out the big guns we got the chainsaw mill got the chainsaw mill we are gonna we're throwing this project together real quick so what's up everybody welcome back to the homestead mike and i are going to be using the chainsaw mail this morning that one big chunk of ponderosa that's not going to fit on the sawmill we've got the chainsaw out so gonna do some milling what have you done to prepare for the project i got myself ready so do you remember how to do this [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] here we go what do you guys think dog bench okay so we got the first cut going pretty good cut i think mike and i decided that we're gonna keep these slabs a little bit thicker like an inch and a half to two inches and maybe do some countertops or kind of scheming building a little island so i think we're gonna keep these as big slabs number two here we go [Music] yeah i need a cup of tea soon so [Music] [Music] fall off [Music] hi mr mitty good morning it's afternoon you lazy mom is it rolling yeah okay um yeah so we went with the most popular option in our previous video that we talked about you know what could we do with this chunk of wood that was the alaskan mill um a lot of you guys know liz and i run off of pretty much the cheapest tools that you can buy so there are links down below to both the chainsaw and the mill itself they're both like cheapest stuff you can get the chainsaw is actually a knock off of a still um brandon's host form i believe again not a sponsored video but no no it seems to work good though and it's big chainsaw yeah i think it's like a 95 cc chainsaw um you need it you guys like um that are trying to run this alaskan mill you really do need the big chainsaw to really mow through this wood and even this thing like it's not quick by any means but for this dinky little project it is super nice that is all the cuts that we're gonna get from this chainsaw out of this piece of wood and these slabs are gonna take quite a while to dry we have two four and a half inch ones and then what was the an inch and a half yeah like a random piece so it'll take a while for them to dry but after that we definitely want to do something cool with them excited yeah liz has the two ideas lined out already coffee table and little island i think in the kitchen yeah so i've gotten booked out for some projects yeah in the future i'm stoked yeah we really need a coffee table so yeah great idea yes and the island will be super nice too yeah i love it but thank you guys for watching and if you haven't already please consider liking and subscribing maybe leaving a comment down below and tell us what you think yeah thanks guys we'll see in the next video okay that was pretty good okay what do you think yeah okay you dig it i get some chainsaw never said that this is ponderosa we're just done yeah so that could be on our list of things to do move these other slabs replace them with these ones you
