recently I was in my parents basement I was scrolling through Reddit and I saw the Allen week 2 PC requirements kind of just want to talk about it I want to talk about PC requirements General why it's kind of going in a bad Trend first we're going to have to be discussing what is FSR and what is dlss for those who don't know FSR and dlss are both upscaler not to be too Technical dlss and FSR utilizes a lower base resolution and upscales it alongside frame generation this is so that games can have more frames to run as Target a specific resolution on the upscaler this is a good thing due to if your game is being rendered at a lower resolution your PC can handle harder games maybe some more particle effects like in theory it won't be working as hard and the upscaler will be doing like a lot of the hard work the end user will pretty much get the resolution that they want there is slight input delay when using either of these implementations but for the most part that's pretty negligible uh the first time I really like thought about this was with Immortals of avum showed on Console a grave video from digital Foundry kind of showing how poorly implemented it was and you know artifacts um and just other basic issues but why is it an issue with Allen wake 2 specifically like why am I making a video on it because they just kind of decided to forego native resolution and they just showed you the upscale resolution in order to run this game at 1080p low settings you're going to need a minimum of an RTX 2060 and that's with quality that's with quality scaling which quality scaling uses a 1.5 you know upscale and that's not even at 60 FPS that's at 30 and then to get a 1080p 60 experience you're going to need a 3070 or a 6700 XT with performance scaling which uses a two you know two multiplier upscale holy and you know looking at these requirements has me very baffled in recent memory you have The Last of Us remastered which was poorly optimized as well as you had Jedi Survivor also poorly optimized uh but if I recall those didn't need upscaling FSR dlss you have Assassin's Creed Mirage you know cyberpunk recently came out and they the only time they said that they used tlss was with the highest rate tracing like enabled so what does that mean that this game is solely like unoptimized and developers are using this technology as a crutch to even get you to play the game like what are they doing right if you think about this another post on Reddit showed you know with these specs only roughly 7% of players will be able to run this game at at a native 1080P 60fps and this is even you know forget about um R tracing uh unfortunately that's not POS possible with like a majority of people you're going to eat 407s you're going to eat a 4080 unfortunately going forward with PC gaming developers are going to start using these tools as a crutch where I think they should really be used for lower-end hardware and FSR 3 kind of does that with a wide variety of cards that can be utilized um unfortunately just you know have you thought about not being poor you may need to upgrade PC for this game that's basically what you know Todd Howard and all these companies are saying and no matter what Nvidia says I still think Native resolution still has its perks and its merits um I know this video is a little different just wanted to get this out there frustrations um tell me what you think down below are you going to play Allen wake 2 this is Jerry B signing out I'll see you in the next video
