hey guys check out our new channel for more addict relationship stories relationship hunt link in description enjoy the video am i the antagonist for telling my mom she can't see her grandson unless she changes her attitude hello rudit my husband 33 and i 31 are pregnant with our first child after trying for a year now we found out that we're having a baby boy and we are so thrilled we decided that we were going to do a small gender reveal party my mom always wanted a granddaughter she even wore all pink to the gender reveal when the blue confetti came out everyone cheered except for my mom she decided to leave and go home so i didn't see her the whole rest of the party after the party i decided to get on social media the first thing that popped up was a post from my mom saying worst day ever when someone asked what was going on she replied my daughter is having a boy when i wanted it to be a girl but i guess it's okay i called my mom and i told her that unless she changes that attitude then she can't see her grandson and she just screamed at me but i kept it firm my husband and in-laws agree with me but other relatives called me an [ __ ] so am i the antagonist now for the top comments nta imagine a grown up acting like a petulant child who didn't get their own way i'm sure she'll come around but be on guard that she doesn't eventually show favoritism to any future granddaughters you may need to continue to protect your son from this woman i could understand her being slightly upset if she was excited for a granddaughter but to leave and post what she did on social media that's beyond shitty and op is right if mom is going to treat her son differently because he's a boy he doesn't need to be subjected to that and if she has a girl later mom will try to favor her not the a-hole opus good on you for putting down clear boundaries now it's okay to be a little disappointed but keep it to yourself i don't get a behavior especially since it's not like they had a choice in the matter nta your child doesn't need a grandparent treating them like [ __ ] because they are not the gender she was wanting them to be you don't need to support her immature and disgusting reaction nta worst day ever we can all think of worse congratulations on your happy news incidentally we just found out this past year that our older child is a daughter not a son i always kinda wanted a daughter not to the point of being disappointed in a son mind you and now i have one life is weird worst day ever is the kind of thing my five-year-old says when he doesn't get his way and i don't let him get away with that kind of behavior i think that ops mother can be held to at least the same standard as a five yo right nta my mother bagger booked about my sister's wedding day being awful because everything wasn't to her exact preference it now what she got for that not invited to my wedding because that's what you do to spoiled children who have a tantrum for not getting everything they want also because it now she'd have done the exact same [ __ ] my my wedding and i didn't want any of that negativity on the day i married my best friend also op if you read this you need to put that woman on a very tight lead slash leash around your kid i guarantee there's going to be favoritism to any possible future granddaughter and it'll [ __ ] your son once he realizes it so true my brother was my grannies golden child and it screwed both of us up he always wanted to please her so never said no conversely i'd find a way to say no for him now i'm a cold [ __ ] for setting boundaries and he's a young man that struggles to say no i hope bob sees your comment because no matter how hard my mom tried to help us filter out the manipulation it still screwed us over in the long run she doesn't want that for her kids nta any judgment about gender reveal parties aside your child's gender is not about her it's not even about you either technically speaking you didn't choose to have a boy she's practically shaming you for getting pregnant with a child of the wrong gender yep and if she didn't want a grandson well good news for her she doesn't end of story hope life works out for ya bye am i the antagonist for objecting at my father's wedding edit i objected before the ceremony even started the morning of the wedding when the fianc asked me about college i was like i've never been to college that's when i realized what my father had done so i told him at breakfast before we had even left for the venue original post my father threw my out of the house at 15 for coming out as gay i'm now 21 and happily married to the boyfriend i wanted to introduce to him when i was 15 on my wedding day my father had an invitation to his wedding hand delivered to me by one of those hired delivery people i don't know what fear called his wedding date my anniversary of when i started dating my husband both dates he knew because of my uncle not an [ __ ] just sent a message to the wrong person i threw the invitation away and didn't even think about it until my aunt his sister reached out and told me he wanted to talk and apologize for everything and that he wanted me to be at his wedding i told her that he'd consider it and talk to my husband about it hes the one who convinced me to go and said we should just see what he says we drove down a day early and my father basically avoided us all day i know weddings are a busy time but every time of us tried to speak to him he had to go somewhere and then he said head talk to me after the wedding the problem with this was that their reception wasn't supposed to end until two and they had flight for three thirty to their honeymoon so i knew he wouldn't be able to talk to me then and me and my husband were going to leave the reception as soon as was appropriate to go around our hometown to places we haunted in high school when we first started dating because my father's wedding was held in the morning we thought we could celebrate our anniversary in the afternoon and evening i informed him of this and he said that he would just call me when he could then that's when i realized none of his fianc's family or his fianc had any idea that he had thrown me out and that he had told them i moved away for college i gathered this through talking to his fianc and his family i objected because i realized that this man was in love with my father but my father had lied to him and i felt like he deserved to know before they got married i apologized and then explained the situation and then left a lot of my family members said i was an [ __ ] and that i could have waited until they got married but i don't think the fianc deserved to marry someone who lied about something so big especially something that was homophobic and there a homosexual couple tldr i objected at my homophobic father's homosexual wedding because he didn't tell his fianc about the time he kicked me out at 15 for being gay now for the top comments info i'm confused is your dad marrying a man after he kicked you out for loving a man i'm also confused her then definitely not the a-hole but wow what a plot twist one could argue his homophobia was him dealing with his repressed sexuality but that doesn't excuse how he treated you and from my understanding he neither ever talked to you or apologized for kicking you out and until he does he is an awful person and i'd 100 want to know whether my partner treats people especially family with the same respected expected to be given to every person regardless of orientation gender race etc the fact that this is how he treated his son and a member of the same oppressed minority is disgusting and grounds to call off a wedding and confusing yeah rob just threw in his fiance and his family towards the end and that's some very interesting information to drop that casually i mean that it's important specifically for this story for obvious reasons i mean doesn't fiance as opposed to fiance already say mail though nta what seals the deal for me is that your father clearly was attempting to use you as a prop you only came because your aunt said he was going to apologize for his past bigotry but then he ducked you all day and was going to bounce out of your life again his fiancee needed to know what he was getting into right the dad kicks him out for being gay then steals his anniversary date then avoids him without real reason i also don't like how the family tried to trick up into attending the wedding they lied about an apology and a fake promise of talking after it was all over knowing op didn't want to go the entire family let him lie about the dad shop relationship and just expected him to be cool with it the family might not be complicit here opp's father might well have lied to them about wanting to reunite and apologize to his son i wouldn't write them off without knowing their reaction to what happened at the wedding edit miss the paragraph where father's family is they calling up tar yeah op should go no contact with these rs nta at all your father sounds like a world-class jerk good for you not being his prop for the lies his life is founded on agreed but what happened after you let the cat out tear the bag what was your dad's reaction yeah this ended really abruptly not the a-hole but give us a follow-up not only ended abruptly but op also buried the lead seven paragraphs in before we find out the dad is marrying a man twist this is the most frustratingly told juicy story i think i've ever encountered on this sub nta at first i was like well maybe he was dealing with his repressed sexuality but the fact he not only hid what he did lied about to his fiancee and their family but actively avoided you at the wedding i wouldn't be surprised if he didn't want to apologize at all he just wanted you there to prove something to his fiancee like look my gay son came to the wedding clearly we are on good terms the whole i'll call you after and avoidance when he invited you there specifically to apologize really gave me red flag vibes how do you make words italic on reddit can i do this from the mobile app am i the antagonist for refusing to host easter dinner two years ago i had my new brother-in-law over for easter and myself and one other i had planned a great meal ham potatoes lasagna rolls and veggies i was notified two hours before their arrives that the rest of the family was showing up now a dinner 45 now became a dinner for 22 i went into overdrive i didn't have enough time for another ham so i just made sides homemade mac and cheese more potatoes i literally emptied my freezer cooking side and extras by the time everyone arrived we had five pounds of terrigan potatoes homemade mac and cheese with smoked gouda and bacon ham as a main course homemade risotto four different vegetables frozen so not homemade by the time i sat down to eat and most had left all the food was gone i ate it in a row that night and some mixed vegas last night i was told my cooking is bland and my dinner two years ago was a disaster i was then asked by the same person to host easter this year i declined now i'm being told i'm petty and now nobody knows what they will do for easter so there is tension on my wife's side here's the thing my recipes are drawn from cookbooks i don't just make up a recipe i use tried and true recipes and when entertaining i've never had a complaint now for the top comments nta i'd throw back in their faces that you originally cooked for five people and they invited 17 more people last minute you're better than me i would have exploded don't invite extra people to my house without notice stick to your guns they should have had contingency plans in case you couldn't or wouldn't this is their fault i told my wife last night that this absolves me from hosting future family dinners good lay those boundaries down so they told you your food was bad can you cook more of it they literally in real life did the food here is awful and such small portions nta and you have more self-control than i if you didn't laugh right in their face the whole five turned into 22 was interesting but telling him his food was bland but the host again takes the biscuit nta i would not host them again either you did what you could without any notice two years ago and they didn't even have the decency to leave you food that's what killed me i thought i killed it literally all the food but a roll and mixed figures were gone the food wasn't bad sorry but you have some spoiled relatives though i imagine they probably swooped it all into containers and bags and went off with it no there was no doggy bags that day but when i sat down it felt like a plague of locusts had swept through am i the antagonist for introducing my twin as a sister and not as a twin sister i am 18 have a fraternal twin sister f18 my sister has this weird obsession with us being twins she basically wants us to be the stereotypical twin siblings where we are very close and do everything together they're a huge lake near my house which has a track around it i go there for a run almost every day two months ago i met a girl while running and we started to talk and got really close i asked her out two weeks ago and she said yes i told her about my family but never mentioned that my sister was my twin i invited her over to my house for lunch so that i could introduce her to my sister and my granddad my parents are abroad due to work while i was cooking the food my gf was talking to my sister my gf said that we looked really similar and didn't expect us to be of a similar age that's when i told my gf that she was my twin the rest of the afternoon went really well and we had a really nice time the next day i got a call from one of mine and my sister's mutual friends she said that what i did was an [ __ ] move and that i made her cry at that point i didn't know what she was talking about so i went and asked my sister she was visibly upset and told me that i had hurt her feelings by not telling my gf that were twins i personally don't think it's a big deal so i've come here for some unbiased judgments so am i the antagonist now for the top comments hi i'm the girl half of a fraternal twin set and that is hella weird i almost always refer to my twin brother as just my brother if people ask if he's older slash younger then that's typically when i mention the twin thing usually by just saying he's five minutes older and letting people figure it out in their own lol your sister is being unreasonable she's made the twin identity her thing but that doesn't mean that you're in the wrong for only saying sister she needs to calm down it's not a big deal at all heck i'm an identical twin and i still just say sister unless the twin part is relevant or people comment on us looking alike same here as an identical twin the only time i'd ever bring it up without additional questions from whoever i'm talking to is if i'm describing school and have to explain why my sister is in my class as a kid nta she is in fact your sister to be required to throw in twin just makes for too many awkward questions do you have a secret language which is older can you read each other's minds and so on which is no one's business sees needs to work on her obsession with you and the relationship sounds like those type of questions are exactly what the sister loves about being a twin i'm going to guess they make her feel special in the eyes of others and this is a self-esteem issue nta this is sister's attention seeking problem not ops close bracket twin here i don't get your sister's position at all i've introduced my brother to people a thousand times and he's introduced me a thousand times and i don't one once ever have we ever introduced each other as a twin i mean actually it's pretty obvious as we are completely identical looking except that we are mirror twins which is kinda rare but that's not a big deal if i mention to someone i have a brother i never say he's a twin and i don't think he does either honestly your sister's obsession is a bit weird especially considering that not only are you fraternal but that you are opposite genders there's just no reason for it i mean even though i don't do the twin thing i kind of get it with identical twins i mean my bro and i have the exact same dna we came from the same egg and all that stuff but fraternal really only share the fact that they were both cooped up together in the same tiny dark space for nine months and really nothing else in reality fraternal twins are no more connected than any other regular brother and sister they just happen to share the same birthday nta of course someone me asking what a mirror twin was so i thought i would add it my brother and i are like mirrors let and write that happens when the egg splits after it has developed a little bit instead of right away so that left and right sides are already formed the only difference is that we are like mirrors of each other rather than side by side identical he's right-handed i'm left-handed his hair naturally parts on the right mine naturally parts on the left his right eye is dominant my left eye is stuff like that it's no big deal what is kinda interesting though is that we have different birthdays which is pretty rare but it does happen now and then he was born just a couple minutes before midnight and i was born a couple minutes after so the actual days are different sometimes we would celebrate our birthdays together but a lot of times we would have two different parties as kids on two different days which was cool of our parents the dominant side thing happens because typically one twin will have one side more free to move than the other it's not based on how cells split after fertilization
