Airplane Camping

all right just got camp set up and then now I think ty wants to play in the wind a little bit I brought my little fpv drone I think I'm gonna try chasing an airplane with it'll be the first time yeah let's do it [Music] [Applause] I'm Trent Palmer slide drones for a living and Bush planes for fun follow along as I journey off the beaten path of aviation [Music] what is up dude covert high-five ready nice how was the ride kind of bumpy yeah yeah yeah where's your one wheel in the back oh my god that's how you do it get in the floorboards there's more oh man yeah nice bro what day camp I know I seriously packed like we're leaving for a week and we're going for like one night maybe - probably one night [Music] my brother's joining today we are getting gas and then we're going camping I'm filling up my airplane again [Music] let it go explode blow your mind [Music] this is the payoff city smell you know it's starting all right just got camp set up we've just been hanging we actually went on a one wheel trip and I didn't bring the camera it was fun we did like six miles all the way to the other side of the lake looks like a one wheel commercial it did I'll show some iPhone footage now and then now I think ty wants to play in the wind a little bit I brought my little fpv drone I think I'm gonna try chasing an airplane with it'll be the first time let's do it all right this will be fun I've actually never chased an airplane with an fpv drone I do actually fly these for work from time to time on film shoots when they require this so we'll see if I can dust the cobwebs off and save me [Applause] [Music] this is my we might fly to the river Rover by the sea to catch a big fish just make a wish come and fly with me just when we're feeling down strap on the wings of that time machine [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] angel eye follow me [Music] okay so we are currently waiting on this low layer of clouds to burn off it keeps like starting to open and then doesn't and we've just been hanging out we're completely out of cell range but it's one of the times that these little PL be the Garmin in reach is coming in so handy because I'm able to text the wife and for those of you that haven't seen these things they're basically just a little satellite locator but they allow two-way communications so I can get text it all comes through my phone and also you can check whether for your current location there's a message but check this out so right there have the forecast for not only today and here in this exact location but the following week all that stuff comes through satellite through NOAA weather that's awesome at times like this then we're like okay we might be hunkering down for another night here if this stuff doesn't burn off all right well the weather's starting to look like it's lifting the problem is we can't see if it's still obscuring mountains over towards the direction we're going so Kevin Tai and I are just gonna jump in the air play around here really quick and see if we're able to look over and and maybe venture into the Central Valley okay so now we just popped up it you can tell they're speckled cloud it's all around us a lot of places that's reaching down to the ground so we're just seeing if we could pop through over here and I don't know it's not look at that promising that doesn't look very smart to try to get out right now so it will play for a minute let's go hunker back down I don't I don't think there's anything to gain by us try that go through dodgy weather just to camp somewhere else I'm just gonna look at this little gravel bar down here how's that look tight Matt I thought you said that looked bad good oh yeah that that looks pretty sweet how was this hi yeah it's very soft and Sandy and not very a big rock like there I don't know golf ball-sized rocks it does try to knows you over a little bit I mean not like these are sleeve I just um to be prepared for yeah I just live length there's a little bit of a shelf there at the river and it's nothing jarring I get placed in my tracks should be fine [Music] [Music] all right I forgot my real camera so excuse the iPhone video quality is how we get to be pixelated yes with that but uh I mean I didn't think we're gonna find somewhere to land there's this tight little Canyon this is pretty tight we found this gravel bar and it's rad so high of course beat me to it so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and we're back sorry about the iPhone footage there I actually didn't anticipate that we'd be landing anywhere where a plan was just a buzz around the lake and see if we could find an opening there really wasn't one so uh I don't know there was Sun just a second ago so I think this should start burning and lifting up well like I said if it doesn't camp here again so if you guys are down for San another night then I'll have somebody truck us and some food and supplies for the night and we'll we'll stay another night leave tomorrow morning it'll be clear tomorrow morning so you're saying if we make a decision now we can have supplies brought in yes it's funny having someone drivin supplies to pilots because normally we're the ones flying in supplies I mean this place doesn't suck I guess we'll do another night I guess we can deal with it I think the most peaceful place and ever I'm really pissed off ty you look to be bugs they're soft from the rain [Music] all right it's a it was a little nip leer than we expected last night I have a little bit of I kind of slush on our windshields but beautiful morning [Music] there you have it back at stead and we beat the wind and we had like 25 coming over the the crest on the tail which wasn't bad a few bumps but otherwise it was nice I mean these things put away wow
