this is just wild really the force of the blast created a crater obviously this is what's happening now [Music] well i'm here right now i think at the exact site where i was when the blast occurred my apartment is not far from here somewhere in fact you can glimpse it somewhere over there in those buildings and so when the [Music] fire first began in one of the warehouses down at industrial ports i ran down now i actually don't remember um where i was exactly but based on photos i've seen on my iphone which i actually don't remember taking this is the position over there you can see the grain silo of course that was destroyed as you can see it's absolute devastation that ship you see over there was actually in the water but then uh the force of the blast took it out they're looking for some bodies over here right now we'll see what they find but it's a grim difficult there are currently divers in the water pulling evidence with the intention of trying to figure out what caused the blast over there is the blast site it's unbelievable you can see the dust over there i can't imagine anyone working in this area here really it's unbelievable in front of us is this capsized cruise ship the orient queen just you don't understand how anyone could have lived here perhaps the one building no lebanese will mourn is that of the electricity company known as edl electricity this building is the headquarters of the public electricity company here and as you can imagine in a country where they only provide two hours obviously a day it's absolutely reviled indeed a building no one's going to mourn i'm here right now in an old building which really it's just it's not so good here apparently so much is an imminent danger of collapse so this is the typical central hall house of beirut the late autumn period and the french mandate period this house was completed in 1875 it resembles very much the houses of the mediterranean in italy like venice houses oh really and it's actually all these houses that were built between 1860 and 1914 uh the late opening period represents the period when beirut opened to the mediterranean i mean you've been like restoring this house for so long it's a family house it's not about us again i'm telling you we're in a better condition it's about when when i realized really the mess in which the city is yeah this is really the problem yeah but others around the city and all those people who are living in all those houses today they have nowhere to stay yeah and we're gonna tear down everything rebuild a wonderful dubai uh in place what what what's the plan yeah this must have been a beautiful old building but i'm told this roof is an imminent danger of collapsing so we're not going to stay too long here it's like an old french ottoman style building yeah haram really devastating
