[Music] hey guys what's up and Mikkel from Doc Martens calm and welcome to this brand new offer of fakes tutorial into this video I'm gonna show you guys a really simple way of creating some really nice and stylish looking slide show animation in After Effects so without any further ado let's get straight into After Effects and get started alrighty so here we are in After Effects and before you begin let me give you guys a quick disclaimer that this tutorial is gonna be a bit long or lennie tutorial and I know you guys hate long tutorials cause I get many comments saying that please make short tutorials your tutorials are very long but let me tell you guys that my tutorials are always gonna be long cause I try to explain each and every thing you know if you're putting scale if you are putting a scale to 40 or pasady to 5 i try to explain why we are doing what we are doing instead of just giving you guys random number and bam here is the output I don't like to do that way so I like to explain each and every step so yep that is why my tutorials are long and that is gonna be forever so I'm really sorry if you guys hate long tutorials but that's how it's gonna be cause even I want my tutorials to be a you know my I want even the beginner in After Effects to understand my tutorial which would help them to build up their skill set so yeah that's that thing so we have without any further ado let's get started so I'm gonna start by creating a new composition and let's rename this to main cause this is gonna be our main comp and I need 20 new 1080 as always 60fps and yep 10 seconds should be good let's make this blast and hit OK so your we have our main composition that's pretty quickly create one more composition for our image so I'm just rename is to media placeholder where we can drag and drop in an image or a video whatever that we want so it's pre quickly doing rename this up media placeholder hit OK and then we can drag and drop in our image into the media placeholder now it's a small image so I'm just gonna scale this up a bit just so that it fits the complete comp in 151 something like that and also let's add a bit of a sharpen into this image is something like twelve yep that looks pretty good let's go into the main composition and drag in the media placeholder comp into the main comp and I'm gonna add a un saturation to this and bring down the saturation all the way just like that so we get a black and white image and I'm gonna add a curves adjustment and by the way if you guys are wondering what I'm using I'm using the free After Effects crib by Andrew Kramer the effects console script so I'll put the link in the description if you want so we can go and get the free script it's pretty handy and make you know makes the makes the workflow pretty fast so yeah something like that pretty good let's select the rectangular tool and make sure we don't have the stroke we just need to fill so for now I'm just gonna with I'm gonna go with kind of a gray color and just create a rectangle just like that let's go into rectangle one and rectangle part one unlink this and let's scale this up really high something like that also that I'm gonna align this in the center just like so let's scale this up to maybe 1800 okay looks pretty good and let's put this to around 700 let's see okay I think this is good I'm good to go it so this is gonna be the box alright let's bring the media play solo again into the comp and scale this down to I guess around 60 or something effect I think 60 looks pretty good somewhere around just like so let's change color so you can see it more properly okay there we go let's type in our text I'm gonna type in something like simple design and let's I shall type in stylish and hit ctrl D to duplicate it let's call the design oh it doesn't change let's bring this down by holding shift and let's double click and type in design just like so and for the stylus text I'm gonna make it bigger so let's increase the size just a bit Oh select it increase the size and bring down the tracking amount down just like so something like that looks pretty good try to fit the design with the stylish texana put it somewhere around there actually I don't know bring this down wait she was like so select both text and just Center them up just like so and I think this is looking pretty good so yep actually it's looking pretty good so let's select the text and pre compose it so hit control shift C to pre compose it and let's call this text hit OK and that we have our text and one more thing that I'm gonna add is a element for this so no set is to 5 maybe you don't need a fill so I'm gonna set this to unfilled and just go creator of shape just like that something like so okay I think this looking pretty good let's see our animation once again okay sit so the text is gonna be in the center which I forgot so I'm gonna put it around there like so and yeah well I'm I think we are good to go actually so let's select this rectangle one rectangle path one unlink this and bring the shape down a bit just like so yep I think this is looking pretty nice so far also change the box color to kind of a darker gray okay pretty nice I said take some bring it a bit to the left all right not left and let's call this stroke and then I'm gonna add a little bit of small elements to the box so let's select the pen tool and let's set the fill to white and add some small elements just to make it look more stylish and interesting so hold shift and click write or just agree this a straight line then again hold shift something like that and close them up just like so I don't need a strokes on I set this to zero something like that let's put this just right over here okay we're going good let's create one shape right over here as well make sure the whole shift while you do that to create straight lines and then we have it put this right over here so let's select this three layers and ctrl shift C to recompose it and let's call this new box you can of course call it whatever that you want and for the stroke emerges leave it at stroke let's create a new camera 50 millimeters looks good let's create a new null object and make it 3d and perĂ³n the camera to the null so let's add the parent option right over here let's pan this through the null objects so this is going to be our cam control so let's pinion is to camp underscore control okay so now we can control the camera to are through a null object and then let's select all the layers and make them 3d just like so and for the last one yeah 3d looks good let's select all the layers for now and let's hit P to bring down the position properties let's like the box I'm gonna hide everything yes we have the box and the background media so let's play around with the position I'm gonna set this to minus 300 so something like that and let's scale this down so hit s and scale them down just like so all right so let's go to one second actually and let me show you guys what are we doing so let's say that the cam control here hit P to bring down the position properties create a keyframe go back in time and let's drag it just like that to the left side so now you have something like that I think I'll make it a bit more so let's take the box again hit s and bring Oh hit P and bring down the position in the z space of Miami - 500 or something like that also go into the camera hit AAA and turn off the depth of field we don't need it okay and let's scale the box down so now you can see you get a little bit of parallax between the background and between the box you can see and that is what I'm going for all right so let's select this hit f9 go to graph editor and let's drag this on just like so so now we have a really nice animation and of course this is a bit too fast maybe I'm gonna go to 2 second 15 frames or something yep this looks much better yeah pretty nice and then what I'm going to do is I'm gonna select the stroke so let's turn this on of course you can't see it right now cause we need to bring the position back in z space so let's hit P say this one I'm in P so this is one was that - 500 so I'm gonna set this to maybe - 750 or something let's see okay hit s to bring down scale properties and scale this down just like so until we are at the position that we want so imma keep it some around there all right somewhere around there maybe let's see one more time okay now I get it what about what are we going for so let's hit a a to bring down the Oh you you I guess to bring down the size and I'm gonna stretch this up just like so and for this I'm gonna go with something like that okay let's select this and bring it right over your something like that looks pretty good let's see so now we get a bit more power laughs as you can see pretty nice let's really quickly I'm gonna add a trim part to this and animate the stroke so right away you're at three seconds or maybe let's say right over here let's create a keyframe on the end offset and then on the end and offset let's go back in time and let's set this to zero and set the offset to minus 90 so now we have something like this you can see is really nice and simple animation maybe I'll make it to three seconds I guess let's select them and at f9u is easy go to graph editor and if your graph editor doesn't look like this make sure right click and select speed graph so let's select this and drag this handle to the left just like so so we have a really nice and subtle animation for our stroke okay pretty nice let's close the stroke hit P so we can see the position let's turn on the media placeholder and let's hit P for the position and I'm gonna set this to - maybe 1000 or something like that and again scale this down just like so somewhere around there and let's bring it to the left just like so so now we have something like that which is interesting and I said this to around 33 maybe something like that oh but it raised a bit too much 2034 or maybe let's go to 35 actually yeah this looks good to me and actually I want this placeholder to be behind the stroke so what I'm going to do is let's hit peak analysts said the media placeholder to minus 750 and set the stroke to Iran let's go with 1000 that is minus 1000 actually 1000 there you go and then I'm gonna scale this down just like so okay hit AAA Oh hit you you 2 times so I keep on messing up or forgotten the shortcuts actually so something like that I think oh this is gonna be bigger so I'm now hit s for the media scale and scale this up just like so and place it in the position that we want just like that for this one I'm not scale this down a bit unlink this actually and this skill is somewhere on there okay something like that let's see pretty nice that's what I'm going for maybe I'll bring this a bit make this a bit smaller and bring it to the left holding shift something like that maybe a bit bigger okay that looks good to me so let's select this headpiece so we can see the position for the media placeholder hit P so we can see the position so for the text let's turn this on and let's bring this to maybe minus one one zero zero okay pretty nice and let's scale this down so somewhere around there and place it in the position that we want to place it somewhere around there so now we have this really nice animation as you can see and we get a really nice parallax as well so yep let's a little camera and hit P for the position create a keyframe right over here let's go to five-second and scale this little bit just so we our animation is not static we have a little bit of you know movement throughout the camera just like that pretty cool as you can see this is looking very very nice so let's hit a you to close them up then obviously with stroke and create this really nice reflection kind of thing that we have which makes it look really interesting so what I want to do is select the stroke and hit ctrl D to duplicate it and let's call this our EF for reflection let's go and delete the trimpots and let's go into rectangle and I'm gonna add a fill so let's turn on the fill and make it white actually actually I'm really the stroke and let's go right over you're at the film click on it and add a gradient fill something like that so going to edit ingredients so let's go and edit degree editor gradient select this one and make it black oh not black actually white you can rewrite this oh I'm hit ok and we can drag this just like so so we get this really nice you can see fade off pretty interesting look to go with so then I'm gonna go into the rectangle path select the size right click and actually it's like the rectangle path right click and convert it to Bezier path so now what we can do is we can select the path select this point hold shift and bring it right over here then select this point and bring it right over here if it's a bit too much things come around there let's select the gradient again all right so I think this is looking pretty good maybe I'll just bring it just like that to the top and ring this weird something like Todd I guess something like that just raise this up a little bit more maybe something like God okay pretty nice I think this is looking very cool also what I can do is let's bring down the opacity a bit because I don't want it to be that harsh just like that and on the reflection I'm gonna add a bit of a noise so that we don't get color bending so I don't try to avoid the colour bandings as much as possible so I think adding noise should fix it which is not gonna do but it's gonna fix this cause if we switch to 16 bits per channel we don't get any colour bandings and I think this is looking pretty nice so yep that is that and I think this is looking actually pretty nice so our animation is almost completed so let's go ahead and make our artwork look more interesting and more basically what I'm trying to say is to go ahead and make some color color correction so let's hit control shift edge so you can hide all the control layers and hit ctrl alt and Y to create a new adjustment layer and let's rename this to the b4 vignette and let's add a vignette to this so I'm gonna add a cause just like that and let's bring down the curve a little bit select the ellipse tool double click and invert this up and just increase the feather to around 550 then we have a really nice vini and now you can see we get this really weird color bendings so to fix this what we can do is add again some noise we have to person and that is gonna fix this as you can see and you may see a bit of colour bandings cause of the YouTube compresses the video but your it's absolutely clean so let's duplicate gonna create a new adjustment layer one more and let's rename this to G for glow and add a little bit of glow to this let's set the threshold to around 85 or something and increase the radius really high just like that and bring down the intensity down just like so rina so as you can see before and after it makes the scene pop out a bit okay pretty nice then let's create one more adjustment layer this is gonna be our tenth layer so let's add a tenth to this oh not diner tint so let's add a tint and Flint I'm gonna put a dark blue color for this just like so and put the amount of ten to twelve percent so you can see before and after makes our complete scene look really interesting maybe ten percent I think something like that and yep looking pretty nice now to make it look a bit more complex what I'm going to do is go into the media placeholder and let's select this actually I don't have any animation right now so what I'm going to do is create a new adjustment layer again by hitting ctrl all to Y and let's rename this to t4 transform and add a transform effect on this alright and what we can do is actually I'm going to delete the transform and duplicate the image so hit control D to duplicate it and let's add transform on this one alright also I'm gonna add the un saturation to this and bring it down just like that making it black and white and a curves adjustment pretty quick just like we did before just like alright so let's go into transform and scale this up to around 130 select the rectangular tool and create some masks so I'm gonna create a mask just like so I guess maybe this freedom mask right over your just like so also increase the sharpen a bit we can make you know unsharp in it depending on what kind of look you're going for maybe L said this should really buy you something okay pretty cool so let's go and select the mask head control T bring it out of the frame just like that and let's go into the mask pad create a keyframe go to two seconds or maybe three second let's go with three seconds and move it move the mask head control T and move it from left to right just like that so now we have something like this looks pretty cool and then what we need to do is just duplicate it by Heidi control D now you have mask 1 and mask 2 let's select these two points and drag them up make sure the mask is selected and you select these two points and drag it right over your select these two points and drag it right oh yeah oh sorry hit ctrl Z I'm gonna select just the one mask select this whole so like this is it gonna be a bit difficult Oh what I'm going to do is that let's delete the mask and create a new actually new mask Missy wanna create one just like so go right over here now select this mask and ctrl T all the whites still there so no Springs out pre COO let's select this one head control 3 go to mask path actually let's first of all move this holding shift make sure you hold shift create a keyframe right over your select this a control T I hold shift and drag it just may be so now we have something like that okay we can't see the mask right now I don't know why oh so it's right over your zone it just displays this a bit now you have it as you can see looks pretty nice okay so let's go in the main come and let's see what we have pretty cool so this is the complete look that I'm going for which is really nice sleek and looks really stylish at the same time now to add some more elements to make it look more interesting what we can do is select the stroke that we have head control D to duplicate it and let's bring the stroke down to zero and add a fill to this alright and let's hit s unlink this you set it to something like this really small elements that I'm gonna add place it somewhere there may be some small elements just to make the design look really interesting bring down the opacity to 30 and let's duplicate it by hitting control D let's go and bring it to the top and place it right over you so there we have a really nice and stylish looking slideshow animation and as you saw it's really simple using some really simple techniques you can create a really nice and stylish looking slideshow and use it for your projects so yep that is all I think for today and of course you can add some little small elements into the background like motion element you know that motion graphic accents and by the way if you guys want to create those kind of really cool accents you can check out my tutorial I have a complete you know a complete tutorial from for creating an advanced looking motion graphic accent so make sure you check it out I'll mention it in the I button a bow so yeah that is all for today guys so that is a wrap for today I hope this video was helpful and if it was make sure to subscribe comment and like and I will see you guys in my next video till then take care thank you so much and don't forget to stay raw steak [Music]
