[Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] is [Music] [Music] [Applause] do i have some people here come let us sing for joy to the lord let us shout aloud to the rock of our salvation let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and so on just 16 years ago aflail began its journey to unite and bring together people of god from across africa in raising an altar of worship and prayer as a continent thrived to see itself from the eyes of its maker [Music] how did a flow begin and where it's coming from it's coming from um sing africa which is a group that was formed in daystar university in kenya in 1996. the three of us and others many others met at this university and actually okay a few of us met in this university and then others joined after and followed suit around around the mid 90s and and that time at daystate university then in 1996 i was a third year and at that time god just put in my heart to put together a choir music is not a team first but to to do a prayer event that was going to be part of the chapel because daystar is a christian university and we had a culture of having chapel chapel where the community meets to pray and to worship at that time africa was going through a lot of things politically socially there are a lot of transitions and so many things going on and from that point there was a need for us to raise prayer and and calling out in the name of jesus who is their hope for africa so there was a meeting that went to put together as a chapel that has been to sing and pray for these nations and it was going to be called sing africa so i started writing songs and then eventually that meeting actually did not happen it ended up being a group that was formed mixed with people from these countries and then we started doing concerts in 97. out of that passion for africa when when i graduated and a few others came and over time as we were growing as as adults into life we knew that god had called us to speak life speak hope to the african continent and so even as you were starting life after campus um eventually we met one time and i guess it's just the lord in the season and and we asked each other what is god saying for this season so around 2000 and 2003 there when each of us individually different places had gone through their own life things including like myself getting to church and becoming a worship leader around 2003 i met up with crisprs one time and we were walking from city center of nairobi and discussing what god is saying and he felt in his heart that there was something that god was speaking for me i'd seen a vision of people coming together to worship we had friends like pastor kama mugambi who was at nairobi chapel doing music events and was saying i think that's come together there's just some what we call in kenya there's some vibe about coming together and and hence we came again together as seeing africa people from daystate university a few of us from different generations who had gone through that choir and that music team and then we started having a conversation about how we can use worship and gathering of people together and uniting the church to speak to continue speaking into africa and hence now the overflow started brewing around october 2003. aflaeo which stands for africa let's worship grew from seeing africa in desta university and continues to carry its mission of bringing hope in jesus christ to africa it's until that 2003 moment that i realized god was training me to understand the body of christ to understand the church to understand the power of an altar of worship and now bring this continent these people of africa that that need a lot of hope that is found in christ that they should now lift their faces and their hearts to christ for the very first time since its inception the multitude of people from across the continent together annually for worship and prayer will be united virtually as the world over works to end the coronavirus pandemic amidst all the struggles the hope for africa still rages on as we don't forget who brought us here and who the battle belongs to [Music] hi my name is pastor zaruba bell beethoven gusto i'm the pastor of beza church in adsabah ethiopia we believe that as a river flows and crashes in to whatever it comes into its way and brings life we believe that there's a river coming out of this place out of this continent and people will see the glory of god from a place that perhaps they never ex anticipated it to come from if you remember the story of jacob he asked the lord for a blessing in fact he was so insistent that he said i will not let you go unless you bless me and in response the the the lord said to him what is your name and he said my name is jacob and he said your your name will no longer be jacob for you have wrestled with god you will be called you will no longer be called jacob you will be called israel for you have wrestled with god and with man and have overcome and then the bible says he blessed him there and so what i see is that there was a change of identity before there was a change a release of the blessing identity and blessing always goes together the importance of prayer and worship in uniting the nations of africa and uniting towards this fulfilled purpose is very important if you remember the story um in the book of judges when the nations of israel rose up against benjamin because of the crime that they had committed and they inquired of the lord at mizpah they asked who should go first and the lord said judah should go first of course judah is the fourth son of jacob israel and judah means praise we are not going to get any victory if the praise does not go ahead of us even at the time when the 12 brothers if you remember the story came back to joseph and joseph was very harsh with them and and joseph was kind of tricking them saying that i will keep your youngest brother benjamin here with me and out of all the brothers the bible says the fourth son of jacob judah came forward and pleaded his case and after judah pleaded his case the bible says that joseph could contain himself no longer and he revealed himself to them after judah made his place again judah means praise when praise goes ahead there there is a victory there is an identifying and releasing of who joseph is which in that story is a symbolic of jesus even in the case of johashepha jehoshaphat when he was surrounded by a large and mighty army they consulted and they decided not to send the army to the battlefield but to send the the choir to the where to the battlefield and the bible says that they were singing and praising god saying you know he is good and his mercy endures forever and the lord raised up a a an ambush against the enemy and the victory was scored on that day uh we believe that uh we are in a season where isaiah 40 and verse 4 will be truly fulfilled where the mountains the valleys shall be exalted the mountains will be made low and the glory of the lord will be fulfilled but my question is what brings the mountains down what brings the valleys up what is the first course of action i believe the praise needs to go first the worship needs to go first the intercession needs to go first whatever if the praise is first if the worship is first hallelujah the victory will will certainly come come after that i really appreciate my brother timothy kabira and all of the team there i believe it was the year 2017 that i came and i i took part and it was a great honor for me to be part of that fellowship and i was really surprised at the amount of people that attended the program but also the amount of ecumenicalism that was represented in that movement i i heard that in the choir alone there was over 200 different churches represented all to praise and glorify glorified jesus and i believe that year i think we all remember it was a very sensitive and very tumultuous year for the nation of kenya because of the election situation at that time and actually the the decision had been postponed for a recount and we were actually right in the middle in between those months of very very difficult thing it seemed like the the nation was going to go in two but when the nation seemed like it was going to be divided into what we saw was the church and the the worship coming together as one and i always said that if the praise goes first the everything else will follow and if you remember it was quite a prophetic thing we all were praising god together in unity and seeking the lord interceding on behalf of the land my challenge and my charge to africa is not just to rise up but let's recapture that identity and know that we have a plan that's deep in the heart of god we are not the product of somebody else somebody else's mental concoction that they came up and put a label on us we are the children of god god has us where we are in the circumstances that we are for a reason and just like esther i believe that we have come to prominence for such a time as this uh africa will arise africa will what we always say in our church we will see the hands of begging turn to hands of blessing where the last shall be first where the tale shall be the head where whether david shall conquer the goliath and we will see god show up big time in this continent my challenge to you africa is when that day comes let me tell you from now don't be prideful don't be big-headed remember that it is the lord who gives you the strength and the power to bring you to this place of prominence i want to remind africa now because the blessing is coming and it will be a tough blessing tough blessing to manage tough blessing to steward david was seeking the lord when he was hiding in caves but it was when he came to his level of prominence that he became lazy and he committed sin with bathsheba we are coming into a place of great blessing we are coming out of the cave we're coming out of the drama we're coming out of the chaos but and we will be a blessing to all nations of the world just like the lord has said but when that day comes do not forget the one who brought us here do not forget what god has done and let us always remember that the god who began that work in us from now is the god who finishes it and let's be careful to give him glory in that day the great of the time of testing proverbs tells us is not when a man is in trouble but the bible says the man is tested by the praise he receives there's a time coming and it's not too far away when the praise will be an adulation will be at a very high high high level let us not forget that it is the lord who does these things and let us be quick to give him the glory i'm gonna put your hands together for [Music] jesus [Music] [Music] [Music] me [Music] hallelujah [Music] [Music] [Music] hallelujah [Music] music [Music] hallelujah [Music] [Music] is [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] um [Music] [Music] my [Music] all the other names [Music] [Music] jesus [Music] [Music] [Music] is [Music] is [Music] me [Music] me [Music] [Music] jesus [Music] with all the other days [Music] till [Music] jesus [Music] jesus my first encounter with the flair was back in 2009 i just came to the city and so i joined aic milimani and when the first meeting of our practice one of our on one of our of our charisters and and worship leaders asked me do you want to go to a particular event she was then a dayster and then she's called masidaodi i remember her very well then i accompanied her to the event and i was amazed i didn't know that that was an event was of leo i didn't know the name or structure and that was my first encounter but when i walked into that room i didn't want to live because of what was happening in the room god actually says in his word that my house shall be called the house of prayer and and i'm and i'm glad that i flew that's our mandate like we we pray we bring we bring nations to to god and we and i think in the in the times like in the events where we have had and we've brought out and we've prayed significantly for for the church and for africa and for israel we've felt a move of god and has led us even to pray further into issues and things that we normally we by our own selves we would not have been able to um and i think just being at the heart of what god wants and in obedience i think that is what has made affluence as successful and it has been this far that we're in the will of god that he desires that we pray for his chart but he desires that we pray for his move in africa that he desires that we pray for israel and that we are obeying and we are doing it um and not just as one entity like one church as a combination of churches and sometimes even as a combination of countries because aflo would be streamed and we'd have people watching from uganda from tanzania from rwanda so i think for me that's that's that's the biggest thing that we were in obedience and we were in the will of god that this is what he intended and he wanted us to be doing and i think afla was very clear from the onset in terms of what the vision is about just the unity of churches and its people yeah we may say one night of worship but it's not usually just one night there's been a con and if you think about it's been consistent prayer because any time the choir met yeah it was prayer teachings prayer and teachings meaning you're already equipping and underst the team that is even going to go out already understand the mandate and the will of god to just not only pray for the church israel and africa i think just that obedience by itself you know obedience is better than sacrifice yeah that obedience by itself is what has propelled our floor to what it is right now i mean from 2007 until now yeah that's that's god period yeah i got to know about a floor while i was in desta uh so i know there's a connection between aflo and sing africa which is a ministry that was born from the school environment that is day star and so when i got to know about it i mean i wanted to sign up because my heart has always been towards worship and and just communicating my my love for god through music and so i got the opportunity to serve at the very first affluent as a choir member i think i i got to know about afleo this was back in 2007 was it 2007 2006 but the first time i attended a flair was in 2008 this was when it was at what we call this place situm valley road so that was the first time i attended and i must say i was i was pretty much blessed that was the first time i was in such a an environment where there were so many christians all calling on to onto one name so me it was something that really inspired me at that given moment the lord calls us to a place of prayer and he says in his word in isaiah 55 6 and 7. here what it says in the new king james version seek the lord while he may be found call upon him when he is near let the wicked forsake his own way and the unrighteous man his thoughts let him return to the lord and he will have mercy unto our god for he will abundantly abundantly pardon it sounds to me like there are times when god is to be found because it says here seek the lord while he may be found then call on him while he is near there are epochs and seasons and times and spaces that god seems to be near this is one of those spaces we want to bring our country to god we also want to bring the church of god in our country to god and we want to pray that god will intervene on our behalf and not just intervene on our behalf but that he will strengthen us to also intervene on his behalf in the affairs that he has given us charge over and so we shall begin by praying for the church in this nation and then we shall pray for this nation and we shall pray the purposes of god over the church and the purposes of god over the nation shall we pray heavenly father we thank you we honor you we glorify you thank you for your loving kindness for your goodness and for your grace you call us to the place of prayer to the epoch and time where you are near and to the epoch and time where you can be found we consider that this is one of those and so today we bring to you [Music] our church the church of christ in this country kenya and father we pray for the leaders of the church of christ that father you will give us to see your purposes for the church of christ in this country lord make us a seeing church open our spiritual eyes to see open our insight to see into the purposes of god open our inner eyes to see the true condition of our hearts and in this regard lord we bring repentance on behalf of the church the things that we have done that we shouldn't have done lord we have gossiped lord we have been divided but we have been tribal we have been corrupt we have been sexually immoral we have kept away from righteousness we have taken that which is not ours we have perverted justice lord we have displeased you and provoked you to anger and we ask you father to forgive us we ask that you cleanse us with the precious blood of the lord jesus christ and that you make us whole lord for the things that we are supposed to have done and we didn't do we repent we repent for not establishing righteousness in this country we repent for not insisting on justice we repent for not having just systems within our institutions of the church we repent for dealing in the wrong way with the needy the widow and the orphans we repent for not championing the cause of the poor and the landless and the marginalized and the voiceless lord you have given us a voice but we have otherwise engaged it and we ask you father to forgive us for neglecting to champion the things that are close to your heart we have also neglected the place of prayer and we ask you father to forgive us for becoming prayerless and in the process becoming dry spiritually and becoming powerless spiritually we ask your father to forgive us for being spiritually blind and not seeing you want us to see and lord for the things that we have said we have said nasty things to one another we have said the things that we shouldn't have said we have not maintained relationships in the words that we have used one towards another we have neglected the one another relationships the one another responsibilities that you have given us in your word we ask your father to forgive us for the things that we have said and the things we have not said father we also ask you to forgive us for neglecting the divine mandate firstly the divine mandate to be one just like you are one you have called us to oneness oneness of purpose because we have one faith we have one father and one god overall father we have concentrated on the different corners of the same vineyard and sometimes thrown stones at others serving in different sections of the same vineyard and we ask you father to forgive us and to cleanse us father we ask you lord to begin to cleanse your church and to renew your church we ask your father to raise your church in the prophetic that your church will speak prophetically to this nation that your church will speak authoritatively over this nation and that your church will call this nation back to righteousness lord we have lamented about the state of politicians the state of politics and the state of governance in this country but lord you have placed the responsibility to call righteousness out of this nation upon our shoulders so we take this time in the name of jesus to call out righteousness in this nation and to take our prophetic role to speak to this nation father bring us as a church to the place of divine spiritual responsibility of the prophetic to steward the prophetic destiny of this nation kenya and so we pray for the leadership the father will raise us in stature and that lord we shall not do the things we are not supposed to do but we shall do the things we are supposed to do today we pray for the membership of the church and we ask you that father you will give the membership the presence of mind and the authority required and requisite to occupy until you return lord you gave us four very clear commands to be fruitful to multiply to subdue and to have authority and have dominion over the earth father these are things we cannot do without stature so father would you raise the stature of this church would you raise the stature of membership that father we will have a connection with you that is intimate and then that connection will enable us to occupy for you to bring your kingdom to come and your will to be done on earth as it is done in heaven we pray that you cleanse membership deliver us from evil and shield us from harm father we pray that you give membership the membership of the church abaddon one for another that father yes indeed you have placed enough resources in the church to cater for the needs of the church there is no reason lord for the church to be poor or for members of the church to be poor make us one another's keepers make us brothers and sisters members of the same family and give us the spirit in the church to be able to do that which you have called us to do and to rise up in power lastly lord anoint your church in power anoint your church in wisdom and let your church rise up to be able to speak to the strongholds of satan and to the gates of hell that they will not prevail or even subdue the church and that the church will be the voice in this church or in this nation that is respected that when we speak the oracles of god people will no longer despise the church people will no longer ridicule the church and people will no longer take the church for granted and look us in the face and tell us how we are inconsequential today we decree and declare that the church is an institution of consequence in this nation and that father we shall do that which you have called us to do and we shall occupy the space that you have called us to occupy father now we turn our attention to the nation and we pray for our president uhuru we pray for his deputy william we pray father for all those in authority over this land that father one you will give them the wisdom to govern this country this is a country that is close to your heart it is a country that has a prophetic destiny to be a father nation father we pray that you give them the wisdom that is requisite of fatherhood to be able to raise fathers that will further the things of god in this country and also throughout the world we pray father that secondly you give them the uprightness of heart to be able to inculcate in government and in all institutions of governance their requisite integrity to be able to govern this country in a manner that is governable and a manner that honors god and glorifies your holy name thirdly we pray for them that you will give them the strength to persevere and persist in doing that which is righteous that which is holy and that which is pleasing to your eyes a father this country will rise up in development rise up in prosperity and rise up in progress father we pray for this country we pray against the corruption in this country would you expose the cartels would you destroy oh god the cartels father we are tired of platitudes that come from political offices we are tired of platitudes that come from places that promise consequence and deliver nothing today we are praying that you raise your horn of righteousness in this nation that nobody that is corrupt will get away with corruption and that father you will raise men and women in offices of consequence to declare consequence upon people that offend against you and against the constitution of this country father we pray in the name of jesus that he will uproot corruption from its roots that we will not be merely carrying out an exercise in pruning but we will be uprooting the corruption and planting the seeds of righteousness lord fourthly we pray for the leadership of this country that they will nurture the large base of talent that is domiciled in our young people educated young people talented young people who currently suffer from lack of opportunity father we pray that he will give them the creativity to be able to create opportunity which opportunities will cascade into places of employment and engagement that will mitigate against poverty fifthly lord we pray for our leaders that they will have the integrity to be able to raise a crop of leaders that love you and that love what is good and love what is just and we pray father that the next crop of leaders whether young or old will be characterized not by their age or their experience but will be characterized by their uprightness and by their integrity that father from today will elect people not based on how much money they can give in a campaign but will elect people based on how much integrity they can show for where they have been leading father we pray for a change in the culture of leadership in this country we pray for a change a godly change in the culture of elections in this country that elections will not be do or die contests but there will be places where we weigh people's integrity and we reward integrity and punish the luck thereof in the name of jesus we pray that you will bless every single person in this country that is trying to do something good that is trying to do something that is of godly consequence father we pray that you would bless the leadership of this country we pray for the populace of this country that you will bless us oh god with the uprightness required to do just labor to do honest work and to engage in honest engagement lord we refuse to be dishonest we refuse to be thieves we refuse to be those that cannot be trusted with anything even with a phone we refuse to be people who are going to break into other people's honest and honest hard-earned cash and honest hard-earned labor we pray that father you will make us an upright nation who love uprightness and that you bless this land abundantly and that this will be a place where people will want to come to because they feel safe and secure we thank you we honor you and we exalt you in jesus name we pray [Music] amen in every area of our lives we declare that we have no other god we declare that we have no other king but your god you can do great things lord oh how you do marvelous things in our eyes oh god [Music] you have done what no man has done you [Music] [Music] oh [Music] my [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] me [Music] [Applause] [Music] yes [Music] i just finished high school that was my late 90s and i went to daystar for sing africa and i had a couple of friends who were encompassed there then and we've uh i attended i don't know how many events i attended for seeing africa but the relationship now started growing from there we became friends with many of guys who are running a flower cabera became a very good friend of course and of course along the way i've met quite a number of guys since 2013 is when i first engaged with the flair to do the recording actually it wasn't a live stream then it was a multi-camera recording which you did that i can remember i think uh it was winners winners chapel there so we've been engaging and helping supporting in many ways since then but mostly our core engagement with the flair has been that live stream now now it's become a live stream so we've been live streaming the event uh since then it's been a wonderful experience for us we have we have grown spiritually we have learned a lot from from the experiences we've had and even praying together yeah so for me what pushed me was a desire to serve and over the years this was from when i started attending a floor in 2008 the vision was actually being sold to us as as attendants as congregants as members so i sort of like bought into the vision of a flair the vision of service in 2012. i've always learned that we have always to be worshippers wherever we are whatever we are doing and we have to father the kingdom of god and let others know that actually god is calling us to a place of comfort to a place of peace and the spirit of god has always been where there is a unity and i saw a lot of unity there i saw a lot of commitment with the team and the choir was just amazing so that's why from that with my friend philip we began to continue i i think philip has been the one who has really been pushing me and asking me to come and even supporting giving every time they called upon us we would always give to support water [Music] we celebrate the amazing grace of god with a three-part series during this easter period as christ died and rose from the dead africa will rise and worship join us tomorrow for part two of africa let's worship osaka 2020 [Music] [Music] [Music] everybody everybody [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] me [Music] [Music] [Music] you
