okay robert uh we're going to try this again uh the video sounds a little different this time i'm using a pro 8 he x dynamic headset microphone because i'm going to be switching back and forth from the x32 edit program don't panic okay and then i've got another camera set up to where i'm actually going to go over and show you how to do this from the x32 rack itself okay but i want to show you that uh what i've done now is i've taken my drum machine it's an elaias 16 uh dr something i don't know what it is it's a drum machine i've got the inputs coming into auxiliary one and auxiliary two as you can see right here these are my aux channels now i've got this raised up to zero so i'm just gonna pick one aux channel right now okay with this one and i'm going to come over to channel now i think you're using mixing station i can't teach you how to use that man you're going to have to find somebody that uses it i use the behringer x32 because they designed it the edit x32 is a behringer product okay and it just for me it just works fantastically well with the x32 series as well as the rack okay so as you can see up here channel input link stereo link i'm going to say yes i want the link auxiliary one and two so i'm going to say okay so now i've got them linked okay as you can see up here i've got them coming through the main out so if i had my speakers connected you would be hearing the strum machine coming out now all right so at this point you come over to configure uh it is the the stereo's length it's auxiliary one this is where i trim it out if you can see right up here i want it to come up to this uh right around that negative 18 at the loudest point and i'm pretty close to that okay i can just i can play with this and get it just absolutely perfect so whatever it does for channel one it's going to do or aux 1 is going to do for aux 2. uh gate you don't have it dynamics you don't have an eq here it's a drum machine i can sit here and and do whatever i want okay if i want the symbols if i want to raise something off if i want to put whatever whatever i want to do okay uh yes i want to reset all that uh the sends very important man okay recording left and right this is the way that i've got this particular scene set up this is going to the digital recorder or the the recorder that goes uh the usb port on the front of the device okay and the main of course like we said it is going through the main there it's going to the left if i say here and click on this channel you'll see where it's coming up on the right so and it's going back and forth here okay so now i want to go over to the meters and we're going to go to the aux fx there's my one and two coming in you can see it coming in in the meters okay so i know that's working so now we're gonna go in and out so this is going to the outputs one two and three because i have buses set up one two and three okay this is for something totally different but if it shows up on your meters more than likely you're going to be able to record it okay so uh here we are again like i said with the in and out and the the auxiliary the one the the aux m1 and two and then the in and outs it's that 11 and 12. now i'm using the rack okay i'm not using my s16 with this this output for channel 15 and 16 does me absolutely no good whatsoever or not the for the output 15 and 16 because on the rack your outputs by default are going to be seven and eight so i would have to come into routing and change that and that's what we're going to do now okay so when we come over to routing uh the inputs we're looking for the card okay you cannot use the local source you need to take your routing and you need to put that card uh over here where it says card but on your card it needs to say one through eight and nine through sixteen okay now the xlrs same way and then your output one through sixteen this is where i would come in and change it if i was setting up for a job right now for a gig and all i had was my rack i would sit there and make the left uh and the right seven and eight okay so now all of this is going to come out i would have to reroute this into 7 and 8 and now i can get volume coming out of my my channels that way but remember now we're talking about strictly recording okay so now let's go ahead and bring up reaper now here i am in reaper and i've got everything set up okay it's the way it's the doll that i use here again it's routing i have 32 channels coming in the reaper and i have 32 channels going out of reaper so since i know that that drum machine is being picked up on sends 11 and 12 look what happens when i click record that's my drum machine i can record it from my my x live card i can record it from the front usb port and i can record it from reaper all at the same time now channels one and two what you're picking up is my microphone okay so that's why you see that moving so as you can see i've got this signal now just by that simple routing coming in to this so let's go ahead and close this we don't need it anymore and let's go back to our routing tab our card you must have one through eight under out nine through sixteen under out okay input it doesn't everything is local man you only got 16 inputs you can forget about this 7 through 24 and 25 through 32 it's not there okay now aux ends i don't have them set to play i've got them set to record okay that's another thing that you need to make sure that you do this with your routing and that's it so now at this point let's go over and i'm going to try and show the uh show you how to do this uh from the front of the x32 rack okay so uh here we are uh here's my channel i'm gonna go back to channel one i'm gonna push it uh that is my shure uh sm57 sitting over there in the corner i've got it out of the way i'm gonna take my knob and i'm gonna rotate it until i come to my aux in a1 i'm going to push it in okay now this is kind of hard for me because number one i'm running out of cable space and number two i got this camera sitting right here in front of it and it's real hard for me to get to these dials okay but here i am on the home screen and as you can see the yellow right there is linked this is how you link one and two okay do i want to link one or two i'm going to hit the arrow on the right and say yes i want to confirm that okay so now i'm going to come over to configure now let me go back just a second you see over here where it says trim right there this is how i'm adjusting my input gain you see that going up and down watch that meter go up and down see it peeking out over here now peeking out over here so you want to adjust this input gain to where it's coming in right over here where it's barely and i mean barely lighten up that negative 18. there we go okay so now from there we're going to go over to config here you get a better shot of your arrow you can see where it's just barely starting to go into the yellow it says auxiliary one uh the trim is is plus 2.5 dbs it is linked uh gate there is none dynamics note here now you can go back to your eq the sends you see over here where it says linked 11 and 12. okay you're going to rotate this knob and then level 11 and 12 this is watch them go up and down now this is going to determine how much of that signal goes into your digital recorder on the front usb or in the reaper or into your x32 live card okay so that's how you do the sends and then of course on your main because it is auxiliary one it's only going to show the left if we come over here to auxiliary two and push in as you can see it's coming in on the right okay and that's it brother so uh uh routing i apologize routing let's go ahead and go over to routing i'm gonna go back to a1 as you can see right here uh output one through eight output nine through sixteen up here it's on the card uh let me find out which uh there we go are you going to use these tabs this is where it's probably going to put you inputs or local 1 through 8 9 through 16 you're going to tab over to where it says card and then you want that output 1 through 8 and 9 through 16 once you get it to what you want it then you're going to push it in you're going to select it okay that's it man and i i hope this works for you now because i can duplicate this on my end and your keys should be no different okay than my drum machine now if you say but dana look man i want to be able to put a gate on it i want to be able to do all this other stuff then you need to come out of your keyboard okay into a direct uh uh input a di box come out of that di box and then go into one of your channels uh with the xlr okay and that way you can treat it just like a regular channel alright take care god bless and we are out of here
