this is gray [Music] V65 gray V65 sampled from a dbx 165 as far as I know this is the gray V65 Ultra version which has the large readout for the wave information to show you what it's doing to the wave starting at the very top of course the preset management bar wave readout here plug-in is resizable we have a number of oversampling options this is how you turn the compressor on and off for the preamp and for the ultra and for the uninitiated the ultra is a break point where preamp starts to saturate we have an aut bypass button here the listening modes this is how you increase the preamps harmonic Distortion this does not affect the loudness of the signal as it is auto gain compensated as well as the input trim this feeds more into the compressor circuit again Auto gain compensated threshold the compression you can think of this as the ratio the attack the [Music] release put these to Auto and it gives you 35 milliseconds and 290 milliseconds it is program dependent makeup knob down here at the bottom you have the curve readout the schmod we have a side chain filter stereo link dry and wet mix knob have power when it's to the left it's Peak when it's to the right it's average or RMS and everything in between in level out level we have an attack hold which modifies the attack properties of the plugin independent of the actual attack function we have a release hold that does the same thing on the release you can change whether this is affecting the entire signal the mid signal or the side signal we have acoustica morph technology in here which morphs from compressor to limiter to saturation using all of the controls and then the gain reduction meter it'll either show you here how much reduction or you can read at the bottom this is the version without the wave readout everything Remains the Same the plug-in functions the same you just don't get the large readout on it that is the controls let's take a look at what we used gray [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] for the power is in your hand starting with the [Music] kick the snare just a little bit of control the Hat the [Music] times the overheads [Music] the [Music] tempany the [Music] base the [Music] piano the mutes the harmonic [Music] mute [Music] the string just a little bit of control the [Music] [Music] picato the wood [Music] wins the [Music] brass the tonged brass [Music] the chorus you you the lead I stood close to your heart and I I stood close to your heart and I the verse harmonies the verse Harmony out drift drift and now a before and after imp periodic parts of all instances of gray on everything [Music] you easy test for [Music] me test for me I still close to your heart and I did all I could do but it seems it really wasn't enough to tie all the things we held to love was enough to try and it I got fol left and all along drif set on wondering what to do [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] he [Music] I [Music] [Applause] [Music] now all the way to the left on the schmod activates the look ahead [Music] function [Music] [Applause] [Music] with the 8X and more of course you'll hear less noise and it's just a smoother operation closer to the hardware [Music] my thoughts on Gray V65 if you're looking for a VCA compressor that has great analog action and can really do some amazing things with drums bass vocals this is the one to get now if you're watching this video after January 7th 2024 and you don't already have this forget about it huh this was a limited edition from acoustical audio that they released during the 2023 Christmas season and it will not be available after January 7th however if you are looking at this before January 7th I suggest that you click the link in the description to get your copy of gray V65 outside of that
