the Bible said it was the day of Pentecost now I want to explain this because myself I have not explained this in detail enough and I've heard many others not explain it in detail enough do you realize how many days of Pentecost have been there's more than I could count there have been plenty of days of Pentecost so just to say the church was established on Pentecost that's true but it's not enough it simply needs to be explained this was the church was established on the first Pentecost after the resurrection write that down the first Pentecost after the resurrection that's when these events transpired so therefore it is a great day what day is it the damn Pentecost which Pentecost the first Pentecost after the resurrection very important passage and very important point because now we know the very day that the Church of the stablish any church that started before that it's too old it started way too early any church that started after this particular day it's too new it started way too late this is the name the day the church started what day was it damn Pentecost which damned Pentecost the first Pentecost after the resurrection that is the point on which you'll be sure to write down that's the point I want you to commit to memory and I want you to have it ready and that is the reason that this is indeed a great day now let's look at verse 5 point number three let's look at verse five we see here there's a great place now this to the very important point because as we understand the place that we're dealing with here the Word of God tells us there's no guesswork about the Lord's Church you don't have to wonder I wonder where there were no no no no you look at verse five and it tells you and they were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews devout men out of every nation under heaven and everybody listed the Church of Our Lord the Church of Christ the church that Jesus established was established the first Pentecost after the resurrection and it was established in Jerusalem and we want everyone to fully understand that any religious organization that began anywhere other than Jerusalem started at the wrong place and it's not the Lord's Church the Splane thus firm with us Bible when you can read in acts 2 verse 5 where the church started we don't want to argue with the Word of God but let me take you to one of those verses I'm going to reach out and grab another one and bring it in but I'll be right back back to so keep your Bible open and/or keep your marker let's go to Luke 24 the reason I want to take you to Luke 24 I want to read to you the Great Commission normally people go to Matthew 28:18 through 20 or they go to March 16 15 and 16 both of which are good but Luke 24 and verse 46 will offer additional information that neither Matthew nor mark included Luke 46 the Bible's of Luke 24 and verse 46 here's why the Word of God said thus it is written and that's the behaved crisis suffer and rise from the dead the third day verse 47 and that repentance listen now and remission of sins should be preached in his name where among all nations beginning at Jerusalem so Luke 24 verses 46 and 47 first 47 mentioned at Jerusalem see there's no guesswork I want this to be a confidence builder to all of those who are members of the Lord's church your members of the church that Jesus established and the city of Jerusalem the first Pentecost out of the resurrection all recorded in acts 2 and this makes it dynamic it makes it easy it's very easy to talk to people when you can open up the Bible and you can read it's a very clear and this is wonderful and this is what we need and we need everybody to know this we needed for ourselves but we need to share it ok let's go back back to now we're going pointing them before now we're going to cover verses 5 through 13 and what we're going to learn here is there was a great crowd there's a lot of people there the Bible says I'm not rereading Matthew Martin or Luke on the Great Commission but what we find here in acts 2 we find that every nation under heaven was represented we know there was a lot of people there because about 3,000 people were baptized this very day now we're done read verses 5 through 13 but I do want to read a few of these verses we've already read verse 5 that identified Jerusalem so allow me to begin two verse it's the lot of studies now when this was noised abroad the multitude came together they were confounded that every manner than speaking their own language and they're all amazed and they marvel saying one to another behold are not all these which speak galilaeans ha here we every man speak where in the tongue we were born now let me tell you what to my Pentecostal friends out there in video land won't tell you something verse 4 identifies these foreign languages there are simply different tongues it identifies these unknown tongues that meant a lot to talk about it's simply languages tons and languages are used interchangeable look at it in acts 2 verse 4 acts 2 verse 6 it identifies that you had a large crowd gather from every nation under heaven people who spoke different languages yes different tongues there are those in our audience live brother Juan and other that speak Spanish and English much to my benefit throughout the years and many of you did the same thing and that's quite an honor that we have to have you here tonight at this particular service but here the Bible teaches that it was our everybody that was gathered there that day many thousands of people were gathered there's a great crowd and what a blessing it was as we go into point number 5 beginning of verse 14 I want to read that verse because we're going to see something that really began to happen there was a great sermon that began to be preached and I want everybody to get a hold of this point looking verses 14 through verse 36 I'm going to spend a few moments here but I want everybody to know this is Bible talk these are Bible truths the words that we speak are not for me it's from God's Word we're simply showing you where to find it in God's Word acts 2 verse 14 the Word of God says the following please carefully notice but Peter standing up with the eleven he lifts up his voice and said Ye men of Judea and all you did well out where Jerusalem reinforcement of verse 5 they are at Jerusalem biet not unto you and hearken to my word and it began a sermon my sermon but listen the very first gospel sermon that people had the opportunity to obey I've heard people say this is a very first gospel sermon wrong it wasn't the first gospel sermon Jesus preached the gospel of the kingdom all during his ministry but it was the first gospel sermon that people had the opportunity to obey and that's what I want you to write down the first gospel sermon that people had the opportunity to obey and we're going to see where they obeyed it here just in a few minutes but it is so wonderful to see an ask the second chapter we see where the church started which send the first gospel sermon that people could respond to and this is so beautiful it is so wonderful and anybody that can tune in on youtubing and see this and about it that you give the audio to anybody you sit down across kitchen table or in their living room or in your break room at work wherever you may be you're able to show anybody Acts chapter two and reveal to them these many great truths and we should really appreciate that now let me ask you this when you look at verses 14 to 36 that great sermon there's not a lot in mine and mine I said preacher from acts 2 that's a rather generic title I know but what do you think would be a good title for Steve or Peters lesson he did not say well today I'm going to speak on this he didn't do that I've given the title of this lesson only from me it could very well he may not have had a title I don't know he had a lot of truth he may not have had a title but I called it starvation from sin he had a thousands of people gathered who were in sin and he wanted to bring salvation to them he wanted them to know how to get rid of all of their sins and what an honor it was and they stood up with the eleven and he lifts up his voice and he began to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and the difference in his sermon and preaching the gospel of Christ when the opportunity came they could all respond to that oh we're gonna see that here in a moment and it is absolutely dynamic I'd be very frank with you you know I preached in front of a saying Oh fifteen hundred people probably was my largest maybe eighteen hundred but somewhere in that framework but he had over three about three thousand baptisms that day that's amazing but he had a sermon that day salvation from sin and if you want to know what helped make him effective he used a little different approach than some of the other preachers had used throughout the years they love Joel they love David so you know what Peter did you can read it in acts 2:14 to 36 he reached back and said this is that spoken by the Prophet Joel and it brought it up to the table right in front of him he preached to them about what Joel is it Joel really Joel said that and then later twice he said this was spoken by David David we love David well here it is here's the opportunity they had they could hear the words of Joel the words of David and on both of these occasions spoken David you know they got he got their attention he was preaching salvation from sin but whatever the title maybe not in in title but it was a message of how they could be saved and he wanted them to be saved he wanted them to go to heaven and he presented them what was very important and what looks like at the end of verse 36 quality yes fake they asked him a question in verse 37 that's a very very important question my dear friends their question is why shall we do they had heard a sermon and what they wanted to know is what shall we do to be saved they were convicted in their hearts they realized they were in sin Peter came forth bringing a less than if you would say salvation from sin lesson and they asked this very important question watch how we do you know that question was not with only recorded to other times in the New Testament we're now in turn over and read it but we would reference it and I existing than 31 the Philippian jailer and his conversion when Paul they were freed and the great earthquake you remember the event and he's dead in that 16 verse 30 what must I do to be saved that's the same question these paper said why shall we do and in acts the ninth chapter the conversion of Saul of Tarsus and remember now Saul of Tarsus is the man who became the Apostle Paul and his conversation with Jesus from heaven to earth he said Lord what will you have me to do dear friends today everyone here please listen we need to be convicted in our hearts when we're in sin we need to have a come to get our life right with the Lord true conviction this lesson that Peter preached it convicted people of their sins now I want to tell you something and I'll tell the video land something we today are very busy trying to pass the time people making it so soft so gentle so nobody gets their feelings hurt we talk so easy as if we leave they think they're saved now I do not believe we should ever speak the truth in in a way but in love the Bible and Ephesians that speak the truth in love if you can speak the truth in love don't speak at all speak the truth in life but speak the truth let people know I love you brother I love you sister I love you friend I love you rather don't love you I love you I love you I love you but you're on the wrong road you make bad spiritual decision maybe you made unlearned decision but now you know it all for max too and show them what to do to be saved how to stay safe how to become a member of the Church of Acts to the church that Jesus established so therefore the answer the question watch that we do ever 37 I really enjoy this because I can see this unfolding to be a dynamic end of an opportunity to see thousands of people converted that day so therefore in verse 38 through 40 we find a great answer I love pure nays question and answers I love to know the answer if somebody asks a question I'd love to know it I don't always do about it I love to I love to ask questions to people who can give me an answer here they asked Peter why should we do and Peter gave them an answer here's what he said everyone who said repair and be baptized for the remission of your sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit that's what he said it's in your Bible actually 38 I didn't make it up it's in your Bible don't ever let anybody tell you verse 38 away from you repent to commands repentance baptism that is the essential to salvation I like some of the modern version there said repent and be immersed I like that because that's what baptism is repent and be immersed in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit dear friend back to verse 38 38 340 it teaches them this is the answer to that very very important question not many people will say well we went up to the mornin space and we prayed and we prayed we were forgiven wronged I'm sorry to be that way but is wrong that's not what the Bible says they didn't have him or dispensed in those days that's not the way God that good you know today well you need to tell people what I need to tell people who are lost in sin who are not members of the Lord's church they need to repent and be baptized for their missions sins and they can receive to give the Holy Spirit exhale 38 now friend don't ask of you when it's the last time you asked anyone to repent I may preach about repentance tomorrow 9 actually when is the last time you taught us someone about their baptism it's not enough to say have you been baptized that is not enough most people have been baptized one way or some other - maybe a sprinkling when they were six weeks old and there - baptism that's not a Bible baptism that's baby infant Tiz 'm that's not even found in the bible that is not a scriptural baptism and many people in many religions today they're kind of group everybody up what's the month once a quarter once they were so often and they say everybody who's been saved the last number of weeks we're gonna have a baptismal service and then they'll have a baptism baptize everybody who've been quote saved that's wrong there's an urgency to baptism that's fine the Bible Philippian jailer and I 16 he went out the same hour of the night and was baptized and the Bible said it was midnight midnight why not wait to the break of day anyway no no it was a sense of urgency because baptism was for their mission of sands and he could have the gift for the whole despair healed an urgency my dear friend if anyone was baptized without it been a sense of urgency it was not a scripture baptism they did not understand the value nor the importance you read acts 2:38 you're gonna see that and you read all the conversion throughout the book of Acts they should be a sense of urgency and if you're an hour assembly and you've never been scripture to baptize you need to be because this is how to go to heaven this is the Lord's way not my way the Lord's way okay let down now and acts 2 and verse 42 what we find here and this is very important because what we learn here is that we learn first of all let's back up 1 I'll skip here porn the brain what kind of response do they have the Bible said about 3,000 people I never preached in front of 3,000 people but they had about 3,000 people were baptized that very day they heard the truth they gave to they gave obedience to the truth that very moment they interrupted Peter said why should we knew he said repented baptized every one of you father mention your sins you should never seem to give the holy spirit and about 3,000 people actually 41 responded to the gospel calling the very first gospel sermon ever preached that people have the opportunity to obey about 3000 people to bathe the gospel what a wonderful day that was all of you that are members of the Lord's church know how wonderful it was the day you were baptized and you the Lord added you'd of the church were these 3000 are your brothers and your sisters lived in different day and time generations ago but they are your brothers and sisters and we're theirs they've gone on and one day we're going to go on don't take it what this response right here is very important and I want us understand thanks to becoming alive here is still valuable so wonderful - looking for number 9 and ask the second chapter verse 42 we find a great worship they great worship the Bible said in acts 2 the birth 42 they continued steadfastly in the Apostles doctrine and in fellowship and breaking bread and in prayers this one passage mentions four of the five items of worship it's the only passage that mentions four out of five and by the way if you wonder where is the singing you look over in Hebrew two and twelve in the midst of the church did I sing praises unto him Hebrew 2 verse 12 but this passage illustration worship all that is so important listen to have a scripture of baptism and then the worship incorrectly is not good for you spiritually because they push you on the opposite side of God you need to be saved correctly through the obedience of the gospel and you need to worship correct according to the Bible and then point number 10 you've got a great beginning a great beginning oh this is wonderful what's beginning the church it's beginning did you know acts 2 first 47 is the first time the word church is used in the New Testament that is now in existence before acts 2 it was looking ahead all through the Old Testament it was looking ahead after x2 it's spoken of is inexistent x2 what's the first time you know why the Church of Our Lord the Church of Christ that you can read about in the Bible was started right here and that's chapter 2 that is so important to everybody here now we're we're thrown out a lot of information today and we asked you to listen a video Lander who are playing an audio tape read this chapter again stop will occasionally comprehend what was said and study it further because this is how you're saved this is when the church is established this is how to be a member of the Lord's Church in verse 47 it's that praising God and having favor with all the people and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved it can't get any better than that I want to use a phrase that the denominational and sectarian world uses when I joined the church here and I draw on the church there I know what people generally mean when they say that but sometimes people in the North Church use that and that phrase is not really acceptable according to scripture no you do what you need to do to be saved obey the gospel and baptism the Lord will add you to the church you don't join into Church and if they ask somebody asks you to join a church you go find the right on you're not on the right one yet you really are not you don't join a church the Lord asks you to the church because you've obeyed the gospel dear French today we've given you 10 great points from acts 2 which is what the first gospel sermon that was preached that people could respond to and on this teaching here of Acts 2 it is so dynamic because so many responded about 3000 you flip over to chapter 4 verse 4 and it's 5,000 the gospel grew fast in Jerusalem and it continued to grow grow grow into actually a chapter and finally there was so much persecution the Christians were just simply scattered abroad acts 8 verse 4 they were scattered abroad say - no doubt I thought I want it I've scattered them out they didn't know when you're convicted to Jesus and nobody can take that away from you wherever the people went they established the Church of Our Lord there the congregation of God's people so we've got people who are members of the church in all parts of the world today we've got congregations by the thousands all over the world we've got more in Africa that we did the United States it is so precious today the Church of Our Lord is real it is alive it is growing and it's worth you today to investigate one of our great preachers brother runaway wrote a book booklet years ago reasons why to investigate the Church of Christ the reason is a number of great reasons but it is a church based on the New Testament and the New Testament alone there's much more we can say now where we're going to conclude our thoughts but we encourage you to really study this make it part of your spiritual understanding and reach out and tell others and make sure you are member of the church of Christ the church that Jesus established Romans 16 verse 16 20 and 28 in fees and 5:23 225 and verses keep going it is too important to mess around to put it off and to wait it's time today for you to obey the gospel please see the urgency and make sure you get your soul right with the Lord you
