Living in LA JOLLA, California

what's it like living in la jolla california oh you're going to want to stay tuned because we're going to explore the area show you what there is to do and just tell you all about it [Music] so we're here at la jolla shores it's plenty of parking to park it's during the week so it's really convenient to actually just not face having to go search around during the weekend tends to get really really really busy so let's go explore the area if you're coming on the weekend you're going to want to come really early like i'm talking about 6 a.m on the dot land your parking spot and plan to camp out all day because once you lose that spot it's going to be hard to find it in the residential areas here in la jolla shores it's one of the most beautiful beaches within la jolla you can hear behind me the seagulls you get really great views of the rest of prospect street i can see the village over there you actually have la jolla cove somewhere within the vicinity and despite it being 70 degrees people are still willing to go into the water because the sun feels absolutely amazing now if you're coming out for sunbathing kayaking paddle boarding surfing bodyboarding all the water activities that you can want to do they're going to be right here this area is lined with beautiful properties we actually have hotels that are literally right on the beach like steps away from the sand this area also caters to children we have a playground right behind me so it's family friendly it's fun it's light a lot of people like to come out here to do some bonfires really get it going at night it's just a really great environment for for anyone just looking to have a more relaxed vibe in comparison to pacific beach or ocean beach i would say this is way more family friendly so if you're a jolla shores we have a staple a great restaurant called the marine room and what's interesting about this is that you'll see the tide actually hit the windows you'll get full views of the ocean so you're definitely going to want to take your lady or your significant other ladies if you would like to take your husband out there set the bar high show them what they can do because that marine room is amazing here in la jolla shores you won't find all the bars and restaurants like you will in other beaches but what you will find down the street is galaxy tacos so i highly suggest you check that out or just go all the way over to prospect street you'll find all the restaurants that you can ask for i feel like we're in at an aquarium you got little sharks different types of fish and it's actually something to do with the marine reserve here in san diego and what they're trying to do to preserve our natural habitat in the area [Music] living in la jolla comes at a hefty cost with the average medium home price being 1.7 million dollars now if you're looking for a rental pretty close to the beach that can be anywhere from five grand all the way above and beyond 10 grand and that's per month just to put into perspective it's not the most cost effective place to live it is beautiful and that's why this area is known for being highly affluent very luxurious houses a lot of celebrities live here and a little fun fact dr seuss was actually one of the most well-known residents of la jolla for a long time [Music] we're actually driving by all the markets we're coming from la jolla shores now our next destination is prospect street and it's really nice you can really tell the community just from taking a look outside your window welcome to la jolla san diego also known as the jewel of san diego and if you can't tell we're in the most beautiful places that you could ever be you got picturesque views scenic drives and you also have a few different areas shopping centers restaurants la jolla actually takes seven miles of pacific coastline and it is just a sight to see visitors come every single years tens of thousands of people come out to see the seals they like to go snorkeling and they like to go experience what is la jolla so as i was telling you there's some really good spots over there dukes [Music] what's really cool is you get to see them sunbathed they like to do their little callings i'm not sure if they're mating callings or if they're just yelling to say hi to everyone just be sure if you come visit be respectful of the animals [Music] we actually have la jolla cove and as you can see it's open and it's free so if you would like to come check it out this would be a place to do it and if you're looking for something a little bit more sunny jim's cave is right down the street uh it's actually ten dollars you get to explore the cave privately we just came from la jolla shores which is right over there and now we're actually gonna go hit up prospect street so let's go [Music] here we are at gerard and prospect where all the shopping little restaurants small little coffee shops and right behind me we have the arcade building which is actually it used to be a trolley station now it's home to a lot of these shops you actually have puesto pizza coffee cause bar i saw pure barrier across the street so there's many different options i would just come take the day and come explore so despite the arcade building no longer being a trolley station this is the perfect opportunity to bring up to you there's a trolley station being worked on in university city utc which many people here still consider as la jolla it's definitely much more affordable over there the whole purpose behind this development of the trolley station is that they want students to feel comfortable traveling from la jolla all the way down to downtown here we are at la valencia hotel and it's one of the places for proposal marriages and a nice place to just take someone out on a date night i remember this prior to covet there used to be live music so we used to enjoy a nice wine or happy hour drink maybe a whiskey and then just listen to the to the live music i'm not sure if they're doing that quite yet but definitely check them out it's one of the places that i highly recommend right behind me we have duke's restaurant it's near and dear to my heart because this is where i met my girlfriend four years ago and we went on our first date here believe it or not she was smart enough to suggest this place she got us the best
