you're hearing the word of the lord we ask that you share and like have a watch party let's celebrate lady mickens and grand virtual style yes grand virtual style we're going to go to the old testament exodus chapter number 15 exodus 15 verses 20 and 21 thus now let's hear the word of the lord actually we're going to start at verse 19 just for continuity i'm grateful for our daughter amen who is sharing with us in ministry as we do this virtual ministry so grateful for her gifts her anointing and her talents exodus 15 verse number 19 thus now begins the reading of god's word when pharaoh's horses chariots and horsemen went into the sea the lord brought the waters of the sea back over them but the israelites walked through the sea on the dry ground verse 20 then miriam the prophetess the sister of aaron took the timbrel in her hand and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances miriam sang to them sing to the lord for he is highly exalted both horse and driver he has hurled into the sea i'm reading out of the niv translation she says in verse 21 miriam sing to them sing to the lord for he is highly exalted both horse and driver he has herald hurled into the sea i want to talk from this subject this morning looked at this text the lord took me to this texas i was thinking and meditating and praying for lady mickens the lord took me to this text and i want to talk from this subject this morning a tambourine victory a tambourine victory is going to make sense in just a moment well last year we completed a study on unshakable or unshakeable joy in uneasy times last year with this theme that was birth and bishop spirit unshakeable joy and uneasy times we were right in the middle of this pandemic the coronavirus covet 19 had already taken over 200 plus thousand lives our children were out in the summer and we were still quarantined and under certain restrictions many churches that still remain closed had closed and we were trying to grapple and scramble around figuring out how to continue this gospel preaching and teaching it keeping our members together keeping them from scattering and keeping their faith in god many were still waiting on stimulus checks the economy was in a great decline we were about to approach an election year on the top of a pandemic we were in the middle of so many political upheavals there were job loss and people were on furlough and even some of the saints were walking around scratching their heads trying to figure out how do i hold fast to my faith and how do i maintain a praise in my soul how do i keep the joy of the lord flowing in my life with everything that i look at around me the environment has shifted the atmosphere is different there's a lot of fear and anxiety there's a lot of death loss and grief there's a lot of complexities that we are now dealing with and it's uneasy and it's uncertain the scriptures declares that the joy of the lord still remains our strength the premise of the study focused on having a joy that is not easily disturbed because of the renewing of our minds that creates more capacity for our faith i feel god already when we are in the complex times when it is complicated and uh to to the extent that we may even compromise what we normally would not compromise in our faith because we found ourselves on bended knees on many days for many hours trying to wrap our mind around what was this all about and yet we had to maintain unshakeable joy we had to maintain unshakeable faith and again we had to renew our minds that creates more capacity for our faith and for our joy we had several working definitions in the study that we taught during that time but there was one particular working definition uh that that caught my attention as i went back and reviewed some of the bible studies and started to outline this message the one that stood out for me as it pertains to the celebration of lady mickens that unshakeable joy and its inner strength it will empower you to defeat the spirit of fear anxiety and every lie from the enemy and the more you experience this supernatural power within you the more your faith will grow and this message is not just for lady mickens to encourage her but it's for the entire church because we are still in some uncertain times and it's still a little bit uneasy even though the restrictions have been lifted in many states and yet we see an uptick again of the virus breakout and our faith must remain strong and our joy must remain unshakable it brings me to my text we've read and heard this text on several occasions how god brought israel out from egyptian slavery the hard task master of pharaoh since we've concluded the celebration of women's history month in the month of march we've concluded that time of celebrating women from all walks of life now we have embraced the month of april but i want to go back and look at miriam because i celebrate miriam i celebrate miriam because what i see in lady mickens i see in miriam what i see in miriam i see in lady mickens miriam has always been a personality uh that i've been drawn to i've been drawn to miriam's personality and then and and the truth be told i've never preached this text before i've never talked about miriam in the the way that i'm i i heard the lord talking to me uh about miriam as i think of miriam i think of her calling as i think of miriam i think of her assignment to moses through god because you got to remember they were brothers and sisters and she was the elders of the three of them miriam how how befitting oh god is so need how befitting god decided to birth her before he birthed moses in aaron aaron was born after miriam moses was born after aaron moses is the baby child of the three and i don't know if jacques bed had any more children after moses but but it's befitting because if so the scriptures only give us details about miriam moses and aaron it is befitting that god uses a girl to be the firstborn strategically to be the one to watch over her baby son how strategic god is to give us a place in scripture because normally in the custom of the day it is the first born should be a boy and men and women take pride in the fact that the firstborn is a son he's the heir he's the one that looks out for the rest of the family but in this case god so orchestrated that that miriam would be the firstborn don't ask me no theological questions about why god does what he does i'm just glad that he included us in his plan and so here it is i think of her calling i think of miriam's assignment to moses through god she was watching over him as a three-month-old baby going down the the isle river at the time yeah yeah yeah that the the handmaidens were bathing and he was in a makeshift uh one seater cruiser if you please and miriam's task was to be in the bull rushes somewhere to watch him go down that nile so that whosoever would get him at the time it would be the right person you all know that story uh because either he was going to die under the hand of pharaoh's uh task or or she took the risk and hid him jacques a bit that is until he was able to go down the nile with the elder sister miriam watching him mariam miriam is the intercessor she's the protector she's she's the one she's the one that looks after the promise of god that don't nobody know is the promise of god she's she's looking after the plan of god she's she's on god's agenda and she doesn't even know she's on god's agenda lord have mercy she's on god's agenda and and she's watching and looking out for what god is about to do because he's heard the cries of his people over 400 years they've been crying for a deliverer how is it that god decides to use a girl to watch over his promise oh my god how is it lady mickens that god decided to choose you to watch over a plan to watch over a promise that only you could understand why god decided to lay his hands on you and so it is when i think of miriam as a protector as as as the one who's watching over the promise and i i look at her and how god now is developing her leadership skills he's developing the qualities that are not shy that a leader is supposed to exude he he's developing something in miriam here to for that miriam has not had to be developed for so now she's she she's learning how to keep her eye on the things that are most important to god she's she's learning about the details of life and what's important she's learning she's learning how to be ready how how how how to be ready for whatever comes up because at the time they find the child she's there to say do you want me to get a nurse for him what puts her there because she has to make sure that the strategy and the plan of god goes according to god's tying table i feel preaching right here i'm intrigued by miriam because while none of us are perfect i see miriam i see miriam becoming the example to the women of israel i i became more intrigued with her ability to discern that there is going to be a victory doing some uns uneasy times during some hard difficult days in the life of israel she's able to discern the mind of god for the life and the history of israel miriam she's a portrait of courage she's she's a deep she's deep family connected she's connected to her family yeah she loves her family just like my lady makings loves her family i've seen her love for her family and how it exudes and when she talks about her grandchildren i see the leadership qualities and the faithfulness of miriam throughout the text just like i see it in lady mickens and the bible says here as i read the text that there mm-hmm pharaoh's army his horses of chariots his horsemen they were all coming after israel at a time that god has strategically set them up to deliver them from the egyptian bondage how befitting it is that we are in this time lady mickens that god is using women all over the world to be deliverers and to be those who protect the promise we know how to nurture we know how to weave in and out oh hallelujah he's given something he's given us something in our spirit and in our makeup that causes us to understand and to pay attention to the details that most do not pay attention to the bible says that pharaoh's army and you all know the story so don't get trapped by the story but i want you to understand miriam's position and the narrative and so it is there's an army of hosts uh behind them there's this then you can hear the the gallops of the horse you can hear the chariot wheels rolling coming up over the mountainside and yet the children of israel is so many of them they are going ahead they were able to escape but they can hear the rumbling of the wheels of the chariot they can hear the armor that the men had on hitting against their shield the swords hitting against their shields and they get to the red sea and they begin to complain sound like church spoke to me why would god lead us out here well he could have led them to a desert where they wouldn't have nowhere to go but in the mind of god he knows what's in the earth and he knows how to take that which he's created and make it work for his glory and for our good and so the bible narrative continues to tell us that when god told moses to stretch out his rod over the sea and we knew that the waters rolled up on both sides according to history and here it is while all of the noise is going on all of the chariots is coming and then you have the noise of the reds here rolling up like unsurmountable walls and the people are expected to walk on the seabed in the middle of an enemy behind them and walls of water on each side of them i got to tell you something right here it takes a lot of faith to be able to walk between two walls of water i cannot even imagine or phantom what they may have felt what their fear and anxiety could have been at the time because they had to trust moses and they had to trust the rod of moses but at the same time they had to trust the god of moses god told me to tell you that even when you got stuff in your past and it doesn't want to let go of you your future is greater than what's behind you i got to tell you again your future is much greater than what's been behind you paul says i press towards the mark of a higher calling which is in christ jesus i look to him who is the offer and the finisher of my faith here they are with more military strength behind them and a sea of water in front of them their eyes could only see what they saw but in the plan of god their future was in front of them even though they couldn't see beyond what they saw all they saw was water oh but what god saw was greater than the water they were looking at they weren't sure what was going to happen just like we are not sure we've had some uneasy and some uncertain days but our faith now must rise up and whatever is chasing us we gotta know that is pushing us towards a future that we have not seen yet eyes have not seen any ears have not heard neither has it entered into the heart of man the things that god has already prepared for us so you got to keep on looking it takes faith to walk in unfamiliar territory the children of israel were walking in unfamiliar territory i don't know if there's ever been anybody who walked the seabed with waters rolled up on each side of them they walked among the creatures the sea creatures that did them no harm whales and sharks all kinds of sea creatures god told me to tell you that where he has you walking there are all kinds of devices that are there to distract you but where you are walking is towards a future that your faith is pushing you to in unfamiliar territory i wish i wish i wish we could tell somebody next to us i'm in unfamiliar territory but i'm walking we walk by faith and not by sight we don't always see how and we don't always know when and we don't always know what god is up to but because we are in some uneasy times the noise of the chariots in our modern day language the noise of unrest the noise of social injustice the noise of political upheavals the noise of the corona virus the noise of whether or not we're going to go back and gather in the church there's a still a lot of noise and then there's noise in us what does god want with me there's noise in us how are we going to ever come out of this there's noise in us are we going to go back to what we used to have there's a lot of noise there's a lot of questions that we have but i'm here to encourage somebody that you cannot get distracted by the noise on the outside and you cannot get distracted by the noise within you you just got to keep walking and believing that the steps of a good person are ordered by the lord that's my first point of observation god has ordered your steps so i'm just about through god has ordered your steps psalms 37 23 just reminds us that he's ordered our steps and what's in front of you is greater than what's behind you your faith has secured your future aaron was second in command oh but god is about to use miriam aaron was second in command because of their culture women positionally were not recognized having authority to speak or to lead but god has strategically orchestrated miriam's leadership among the women of verse 20 now tells us that miriam gets a timbrel in her hand and the other women follow after her here is the crust of the text first of all my question is where where where i feel my preacher coming on me where where did she get the tambourine from where did the temple come from first of all we must recognize that miriam is one of the seven major female prophets in the bible oh yeah she ain't no slouch miriam is a notable woman i didn't say she was perfect because we do know that she spoke out and she spoke out of turn but i'm so glad that the camp couldn't move without her lord i have mercy even though they had to be steal that's a whole nother sermon they could not move without miriam i just want to encourage the mount calvary church that even while we have been in a still place and god has had us on shut down god's gonna use what miriam mickens to cause the camp to move again the bible the bible says not only was she one of the seven major female prophets but she was the co-pastor if you please the associate pastor if you please because because because she did not have a voice but god put her in leadership and he gave her a voice among the women of israel i asked you a question and the question that i ask where where where when did she get the timbers from well history bears rocket that while the men and while the men were under the taskmaster of pharaoh and all of the husbands had to work from sun up to sun down it was a strategy of pharaoh to weaken the men as the progenitors and he will work them like hebrew slaves and the history bears out that while the men were working under such hard task master god was using miriam to minister and to prophesy to the women of israel so that they would know how to entreat their husbands when they got back home not only did god use her to minister to the women of israel as to how to treat their husbands but god used her as a prophet to prophesy they're coming out and to prophesy their victory i know i asked you a question where where where did she get the tambourine from well history again bears out that one she was ministering to the women at tea time while she was ministering to the women at breakfast lunch and dinner they begin to weave parchment paper they would take parchment paper and they would stretch it across a round wire and the round wire they would take a little shaft and punch holes in the wire and take little round 10 and punch holes in the tin and attach the tin to the wire and stretch the parchment across the round circle of the tin and once they stretched it they shaped it so that it became and put fasteners on the inside of it and there you have it they were making tambourines they called them temples miriam taught them that when we come out of this place and when we come through this we're going to give god a praise like we've never praised him before wow wow wow their men were out doing the work of hebrew slaves miriam was there teaching the women and ministering to the women it ain't gonna be like this always god is gonna be with us i know you don't feel like it i know it doesn't look like it but there was something in miriam's faith there was something that god had given miriam that he hadn't given to moses and he hadn't given to aaron god knows how to use us women god knows how to shape our thinking god knows how to make us entrepreneurs yeah it did because now we got to buy tambourines but it goes all the way back to miriam and the women of israel and they began to talk about their deliverance i just want to give you my second observation every now and then you got to talk about you're coming out every now and then you have to remind the enemy that was behind you has lost its power and what's in front of you is given you more power to pursue after what you see your future looking like just touch yourself and say i see myself coming out what i've been in i see myself coming over what i couldn't get over i'm not i see myself coming through what i couldn't get through but i'm so glad that david said it like this he's brought us through the fire some through the water some through the flood and god has brought us out into a wealthy place i need somebody just to throw up your hands and said i'm coming out with the tambourine victory i'm coming out and i'm coming through it yes i am so there you have it she is a leader now she sit with the women and they strategize they're coming out i don't know i don't know i don't know if she knew when they were coming out and i don't know i don't know if she knew how they were coming out but what i do know god caused her creativity to come up out of her i asked the text where where did she get the ingenuity to build tambourines for their victory for their coming out well this is what i got in the revelation that god knew he had already orchestrated how he was going to bring them out but they had to prepare for their coming out my third observation you got to news what god has already given you to prepare for your own breakthrough the pastor may not be able to preach it the evangelist may not come to town and the prophet might shut up his mouth so as a believer you got to know you got faith you got to know something that god put inside of you that's said though he slay me yet well i trust him i gotta trust what i know i gotta use what he gave me the bible said i said the bible said that when she got her tambourine y'all know how we do it calvary we love a good old tambourine we love good old church the bible said that when she got her timbrel that all of the women grab their tambourine touch yourself and say that's what you call leadership if i grab it you ought to be grabbing it too if i speak it you ought to speak what i speak because we speak by the word of god the prime motive change that miriam grabbed her tambourine and when she grabbed hers all of the women that she had been prophesying to they grabbed their tambourines lord have mercy and all of them started playing the tambourine and they began to sing what did they sing the song that they sang the bible says miriam saying to them that's important for you to know because them in hebrew transliteration it is spoken in the masculine sense which means she was singing to moses she was singing to the men with moses but they were singing and calling response that whatever moses saying miriam sing it right back whatever miriam's saying moses sang it right back somebody said call and response and they begin to sing miriam just repeat it the chorus of the song sing to the lord for he is highly exalted and both the horse and the writer has been hurled in the sea i gotta tell you something calvary god told me to tell you it's my fourth observation that whatever has held you back he's already overthrown it oh lord whatever has tried to abort your future whatever has tried to distract and detour your walk in your faith god told me to tell you that because you still remain your future is secure now god i feel like preaching loan have mercy they kept on singing moses would say if you go back and look at moses song his song is much longer than miriam's but the key in the song is or the key to the song is is that i'm going to has triumphed gloriously now put your hand on yourself and says help you are never defeated because god has given you a tambourine victory you haven't lost but you are a winner because god has given you a tambourine victory in my conclusion i want to tell you don't lose your song whatever you do i don't care if you're not a recording artist i don't care if you sing off the wrong key it doesn't matter to god if you got rhythm or beat whatever whatever i said whatever whatever whatever you do don't lose the song the song of the lord and i want to remind you pastor mickens because i know you love good church and you love the hymns of the church i want you to know that god specializes in things that seem to be impossible and he will do with no other power holy ghost power i said the holy ghost power holy ghost power can do god he specializes yes he does and not only that but i want you to remember my faith looks up to me oh lamb of calvary savior divine lord hear me while i pray wash all of my guilt and sins away whatever you do don't lose don't lose your sound don't lose your joy in uncertain times whatever you do hold pass to the profession of your faith hold up to the horns of the altar hold fast to the victory that has already been won i got a tambourine victory where did i get it from i got it because when he rose he said all power has been given unto me and the same power that jesus got about to grave we got that power you got that power yes yes yes yes oh yes you got it you got it i got it we got it whatever you do [Music] don't lose your song whatever you do don't lose your song whatever you do sing unto the lord a new song sing his praises lord prepare me to be a sanctuary whatever you do don't lose your song whatever you do don't lose your soul the old church was saying you can't make me doubt him i know too much about him you can't make me doubt him the old hymn of the church i need thee oh i may be every hour i need thee they sang to each other because they were with each other in the uneasy times they helped each other bear each other up while the men were working god used miriam to minister to the women we don't hear much about our prophecies but the manifestation of them is far greater because we get to see what she had been prophesying all alone god uses her to make sure that the church understands that their victory is wrapped up in their faith i want to say that again your victory is wrapped up in your faith whatever you believe god for he's going to do it and when he does you know this this is what i really love about god when they got over listen to this closely they begin to sing the lord's song [Music] there sometimes our praise must precede the trouble the praise must precede and outweigh the next experience because shortly thereafter they start to complain again they were hungry they were thirsty and they couldn't find no water [Music] so they called the place where they were myra but god again is so strategic he uses them again can i tell you something whatever you are going through there's a tambourine victory whether you literally have one or whether you figuratively have one there is a victory for every coming out for every going through there is a victory i want to pray for you i want to pray for you not only for lady mickens but i want to pray for the mount calvary christian family christian center i want to pray that you understand and that you walk in complete victory hallelujah [Music] during these uncertain times during these times when our fate sometimes begin to fail us father in the wonderful majestic powerful name of jesus the only begotten of the father the lamb that was slain our redeemer [Music] who provided redemption and salvation for us all i first pray god that this word has encouraged and lifted co-pastor mickens on today as she has been so divinely connected to the people that they have been leading for a number of years and so deeply connected to her family the love for her husband and her children and her grandchildren and god for the courage that she's had over the years just as miriam i thank you for the calling i thank you for the assignment of co-pastor darling dicken mickens i thank you god for the anointing on her life [Music] and i pray now father that even as she have led so many women some have come and some have gone some have remained but yet her witness of leading so many women from so many walks of life ministering to them and prophesying to them encouraging them and today god we have set this day aside to prophetically decr declare decree to her [Music] that your future is far greater just remain focused on god's agenda just as miriam did she remain focused on god's plan for israel's deliverance remain focused on god's plan for the deliverance of a people that has been assigned to you don't let nothing shake your faith don't let nothing get you off course remain focused and faithful to the assignment father i thank you for the voice that you've given her in the earth and i pray now god did you continue to lift her continue to strengthen her body and to restore her back to full strength in the name of jesus for you are our healer you are our mom and gilead you are our physician and i thank you now god for keeping her i pray for the church i pray for bishop mickens god you will continue to strengthen them give them vision show them the way point them in the direction that you need them to go and the plans that you have for them for this year we are at the end of the first quarter we are in the beginning of the second quarter and god there is a plan and we want to go according to your plan bless them i pray in jesus name we will give you all of the glory we will give you all of the praise god bless you this morning calvary i know that you are sowing seeds into the life of co-pastor darling mickens i'm gonna be sowing my seed as well but remember this give him all of the glory because he's given you a tambourine victory hallelujah we give him the glory we [Music] you are worthy to be friends we love you we love you we love you jesus we love you we love you we love you [Music] jesus from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same your name is worthy
