hello everyone how's it going welcome back to my channel my name is elias and today's video is sort of a little mini book haul and sort of just a little life update essentially this is a chill video and of itself but before we get started let's address the elephant in the room as you can see yes i clearly have boxes behind me and all those boxes are books so if you guys are new here or don't know i moved from my previous place my family home into my own apartment suffice to say the last couple of weeks of my life moving all these books all these shells biggest pain in the ass ever i literally lost so much hair gained a lot of white hairs it was just a time of my life i turned 26 i moved i still can't process it it still hasn't hit me that i've actually moved and i'm currently living on my own i do live with a roommate but still you know just at the same time adulting is just wild a little fun fact about these books in these boxes i literally had to pack up 30 boxes of books these boxes are just a margin for those books let me just give you the best tip you'll ever hear in your entire life a life hack if you will when moving i don't know six to seven hundred number of books get small boxes they will save your life yes you might have to buy more than medium or large boxes but let me just tell you this will save your life infinitely it may sound like a lot but trust me in the long run you'll be able to move these little babies in and out no problem sure they were a little heavy and i about broke my back about 30 times but hey it was all worth it in the end as you can see so don't focus on the boxes focus on me and these beautiful shelves so i did a moving vlog um you know with all the process but honestly i don't know if i should post it because it's such a mess a chaotic mess of just different clips just me barely striving to hold it in and surviving that particular moving week weekend i don't know let me know down in the comments below if you guys are interested in seeing something like that but before we get any further into the video i'd like to thank today's video sponsor redbubble i'm excited to work with redbubble again i've worked with them countless times on my channel so i am working with rubbable on their valentine's day campaign if you guys don't know what redbubble is they're essentially an online company where they specialize in graphics and art illustrations that you can pretty much get on anything you can get them on blankets pillows mugs stickers posters t-shirts clothes a plethora of things like i mentioned previously i am working with them on their valentine's day campaign the gift of sharing the gift of giving of love and acceptance so unfortunately for me i can't relate since i'm still single but i'm still embracing the fact that i am single and imbuing this aspect of self-growth or self-love having the ability of being able to move by myself into this new apartment of you know growth and new experiences you guys are interested i do have a link down the description box below where you can guys get your first redbubble order for 15 off with that being said i just have some b-roll clips i want to show you guys of the things that i got so for the items i picked a bunch of t-shirts a lot of graphical tees that i thought would suit sort of my aesthetic back in like the early 2000s and late 90s you know a lot of the old retro vintage look is coming back aside from some graphical teas that i got i got a bunch of prints what better way than moving to apartment than decorating with a bunch of prints so i haven't fully realized or decided upon what's or where i'll put these prints but that's to be decided because it's a work in progress can't decorate everything in one go some other cool things that i got were these really nice cards that i'll be able to personalize some messages and handwrite specialized notes to family or friends so i got these three tote bags and i really like the art style that they had on them my favorite though is the one that says the future is bright because 2021 manifesting so essentially those are all the things that i got from redbubble i do have a link to all the items described and shown in the video down in the description box below if you guys are looking to get a small gift for a friend a family member you can use my code to get 15 off your first redbubble order so with that being said thank you again to redbubble for sponsoring today's video and let's go ahead and get into the books so i have some books that were sent to me um that i want to share with you guys it's pretty exciting because i do know what some of these books are so i believe i think this one is goodreads alright so the first book malibu rising by taylor jenkins read all i know pretty much about this book is that it's about four famous siblings who throw a party at the end of the summer where their lives are irrevocably changed forever that's pretty much it but you know what knowing know how much i loved and enjoyed the seven husbands of evelyn hugo chef's kiss by the way i'm pretty excited and keen to see where this one goes because i feel like for a lot of her books a reed writes a lot of characters who are really famous she writes them in a way where they seem really real and grounded there's just so many layers and complexity to these characters so pretty excited to see where this one goes um this one comes out i believe in in may may 25th to be exact so uh thank you to goodreads for sending this my way so this box of books was sent to me by penguin random house ah okay so this was sent to me actually um through matthew sharapova who also has a booktube channel i'll link it down the description box below he's great you guys should check him out the imprint can off they sent me a list of books to see if i was interested in some of them and hecky i am right so the first one is crying in hmart by michelle zonner this is a memoir i believe and i typically don't reach out to a lot of non-fiction in general but you know what i'm making it my mission my goal in 2021 to sort of branch out more into sort of the non-fiction aspect of books so this one is a memoir about family food grief and love a timeless story about mothers daughters identity and culture i also heard that this book sort of revolves around the aspects of getting back into one's identity of one's culture i'm pretty excited because i heard that this has a lot of humor and hearts and i feel like this book could sort of be a small soft slow start to branching out into non-fiction so so this one comes out on april all right so the next one is actually on one of my most anticipated reads of 2021 and this one is clara and the sun by kazuo ishiguro hopefully i'm pronouncing that right so this one takes a sci-fi dystopian approach to the overall overwhelming question of what it means to be human or humanity in general and how we shape the world and how we see ourselves and how love can form different deeper connections and individuality from what i remember this one follows an artificial robot who strives to find that meaning that connection of that humans have and sort of forming her own consciousness and her own explanation to these deeper questions and meanings pretty excited to have this um this one comes out i believe in march so pretty soon alright so this next one sounds completely wild in bonkers and it's the memory theater by karen debek so i essentially didn't even know that this book existed prior this follows two people who live in this sort of parallel world to ours in this gifted realm so it's about these two best friends who go on a remarkable journey through time and space where they encounter crossroads at the center of a universe their own worlds on the brink of a war and traveling troupe of actors with the ability to unlock the fabric of reality it says here that this is a place where feasts never ends game of croquet have devastating consequences and teenagers are punished for growing up it's the decadent paradise where time stands still so in a way this sort of reminds me of peter pan neverland essentially so like i said this sounds completely bonkers and i'm really curious to see where this goes so this one actually comes out this month in february i don't know the exact date but i'm pretty excited because this one sort of has the elements that i love to read in books which is sort of like a speculative whimsical fantasy elements so thank you again to matthew and kanav for sending these books my way all right so this next package i am extremely excited because i know what this book is you guys this is too pretty to open look at it it's wrapped in paper and everything i'm gonna try to do this really carefully slowly all right this is proving tougher than i actually thought oh my god you know that feeling when you get to hold your most anticipated book of all time before the general public because i do weird flex but okay this is the chosen and the beautiful by nevo oh my god even smells divine i cannot believe i finally have this book in my hands i first heard about this book a few months ago and it sounds glorious and magical it's essentially a retelling of the great gatsby but it follows an asian american character who is queer i love the cover i love the colors and everything about it is just beautiful 10 10. this one comes out in june so finally excited and blessed to finally have this book in my hands thank you tor books for sending this my way so those are all the arcs that were sent to me but i have one final book to show you guys so i went to my local used bookstore a couple weeks before i officially moved because i know i probably won't be going back there for a long while and i wasn't really looking for anything until the cover and the title popped out i had to get it because it sounded so good and so inspiring and this is the mountain sink by a new end fan quite my so this sort of follows the narrative of family the story of a family that spans a century following vietnam history from the french colonial period to the great vietnam war to present day and it follows all these characters from this family who are essentially striving to survive on their own throughout all these trials and tribulations i heard that the writing and storytelling is just really lush and beautiful and i honestly can't wait to read this book sometime in 2021 sort of nostalgic because this is the last book i bought in 2020 at my favorite used bookstore so a lot of feels all right so those are all the books all the things i wanted to share and show you guys yeah that's pretty much it i'm pretty excited about the new place still got loads to unpack and get settled in but i'm excited to you know be here make this place my own just bringing and having you guys along with me on this journey of self-growth and new experiences so but thank you so much for watching truly and i will see you guys all soon with a new video
