A Person Who Has Faith

turn to the book of Acts chapter three verses one through nine a person who has faith it's the topic of my lesson this morning you know faith is the key to salvation let me begin by reading in Acts chapter 3 beginning at verse 1 and here we saw the day of Pentecost in chapter 2 Peter gets up and makes an explanation because the thirty nations that are in Jerusalem for Passover and then they hear them speak in other tongues so Peter stands up and he begins to share with them what they were saying they were glorifying the Lord there was no message glorifying the Lord then Peter stands up and he gives yeah you know he gives an interpretation but he gives an exegesis of what Jesus not only did but he what he intended to do in each one of our lives chapter 3 verse 1 now look what he says and now Peter and John they went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer around the ninth hour 9:00 in the morning in a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried when they lay daily at the gate of the temple which is called beautiful to ask for arms from those who enter the temple who seen him Peter and John about to go into the temple as forearms if fixing his eyes on him with John Peter said looked at us and he gave them his attention expecting to receive something from them but Peter said silver and gold I do not have but what I do have I give to you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk and then he took him by the right hand he lifted him up and immediately his feet and ankles and bones received strength so he leaping up stood and walked and entered the temple with him walking leaping praising God and all the people saw him walking and praising God this was an incredible incredible miracle I remember when I first came to the Lord I was on a vacation down in Mexico and we were done by the beach and we went to eat at this restaurant and when we were before we went in there was this guy on the floor begging for money so we went in to eat and when we came out you know we gave him some money and then the Lord told me to lift him up I said how about that one and I thought about it and I thought about it and I didn't do it that I hunted me for the rest of my life because God spoke to me that's the last time he spoke to me there I mean I'm very careful because I don't want to bring attention to anybody and when he told me that I could hear it clearly in my heart get him and pick him up you know I wonder how Peter must have felt and the rest of the disciples they were doing miracles and wonders I don't know if any of you have ever seen miracles and wonders I was with Mike McIntosh we were over in Thailand after we went to China and there was a whole village of people they were not only controlled by a witch doctor in the witch doctor died the day we got there and so we went to this little place and we had an evening service and we were there and Mike began to share I could begin to share and all of a sudden might give an altar call and all these people in the village came forward and gave their lives to the Lord and then we had an afterglow service by faith and every one of them were baptized by the Holy Spirit of God to me it was just incredible to go to these country third-world countries the whig God not only moves but the faith that they have it in their lives by putting their faith in Jesus Christ you know today we have people like that they believe in positive confession positive faith whatever you say you're gonna get it you're gonna receive it but that's not true everything is to be done according to the will of God according to the will of God when you look at our lesson this morning here we're gonna be dealing again with Peters encounter with this lame person that needed healing in his life in Peter look into him not having money he decided to take him by the hand to lift him up and he began to walk and to leave him to praise God imagine how the Pharisees must have felt when he went into the temple with Peter as he was leaping and praising God and when you think of this lame person not only crippled you know we don't know from birth or whatever but God had a place for him in the kingdom of God he was in a position of helplessness have you ever considered your life you know an area of your life that is crippled an area of your life that is crippled and when you look at that area of your life why is it that this area in my life has become crippled can I be healed from this area in my life that God has been speaking to me for a long time every one of us has something in her life like that and when you begin to ask God to show you the place in your life that has crippled you for not only listening to the voice of God or from reading or praying or witnessing whatever maybe it's so awesome that when he shows it to you and you come and you repent and the Lord heals you then you're back in fellowship with God 100% 100% you see this is a place where God not only can do his work in my life and through my life so then I don't have to trust in myself but I truly trust in him fully and completely think of how many people today are trusting in themselves trusting in people when we're supposed to keep our eyes on Jesus were supposed to trust his word and as I read his word I trust his word when I pray I said Lord according to your will do whatever you have to do in my life Peter here is recognizing and in the layman is recognizing that he was crippled he had sin in his life and that the only way to receive healing in his life was to come to Jesus not to Peter to Jesus for help to Jesus for help and it's so cool to see that in the Old Testament the prophets then not only spoke about the new but Jesus coming into the world and going around the Sea of Galilee they're in Capernaum and across you know and you go over to Tiberias and then you go to the gatherings and as he would go around touching people healing people the Pharisees and Sadducees and scribes were constantly coming against them they probably had jealousy because of what he was doing they wanted all the credit all the credit when I got saved in 1972 there was a time where Kathryn Kuhlman was a healing bakery in Long Beach and there were all these people they had these services where you could come up and they would have like a word of wisdom a word of knowledge and they'd say there's somebody here that has this or that now many of them are legitimate but there were those that would set it up even like today that when you came through the door one of the ushers would ask you why are you here and you say well I'm coming because I want to get healed well what's your problem and there was one guy they had a little little thing in his ear where when the usher would find that was going on he would tell him so that when he get up on stage he would say there's such is such a person that has this problem and I think how God must have felt using deceit to light the people you know I was healed not just once I was healed of leukemia I was gonna die when we bought this building I was with Chuck and Greg walking around here and I had my side hurt so I went to get my appendix out and they kept me in the hospital and they finally and my blood there was leukemia cells and they came to see me for three days with doctors I called Chuck I said Chuck and Greg pray for me this is what they found and within three days they came back and they said everything's negative and I believe that we are living according to God's time there is an appointed time for a man to die and then the judgment comes sure his uncle died this morning he went to be with the Lord at 3:45 this morning Dale and I went to visit him on Thursday he had cancer he has such bad cancer that he was laying there his arm looked like a leopard his legs and I was you know he was he was conscious just barely I said uncle Paul he says how are you doing he goes I'm doing good he says gonna have some what he would smile he was 98 years old and one of the most amazing amazing persons that God had called to be not only an evangelist but gave him the gift of healing and when you think of the gift of healing it's not singular it's plural if you look it up in first Corinthians chapter 12 the gift of healings which means every person doesn't have the same gift of healing when God truly heals I have prayed for people which is not because of me or in any one of us here but we have laid the hands on people anoint them with oil according to James chapter 5 and it's so cool because God will touch that person divinely and there's no attention to anybody why would you want or why would I want to bring attention to myself when God is doing the healing and take the credit when all the credit goes to him people are not afraid they're not afraid to take the credit when it comes to give Jesus all the credit secondly this place now there were this this actual a man was he was not only couldn't walked but when he came to that place of walking he recognized that his situation was forever and - he would die in Peter looking on him looking on him I love what he said silver and gold do I not have because that's the first thing this evangelist wants silver and gold he said silver and gold I have nothing but he picked them up by his sin and lifted him up in the name of Jesus us appear in u.s. whoever you may be here this morning you have children you have grandchildren my wife Shane is my middle son and he was born with a and enlarged liver - in my wife I wasn't a believer my wife I remember coming home forward going to sleep and I remember her in a rocking chair in his room rocking back and forth praying all night and singing hymns unto the Lord and my son was healed by the Lord - so I've seen healing I seem so much healing for 42 years men going here going there but real healing where nobody gets the glory but God gets the glory fully and completely you gotta remember this man financially was broke emotional and then at the same time physically he was hurt he could move all he could do is sit there begging for money and yet God saw his heart God saw his motive and when he saw his heart in this mortar God desired to heal him through Peter as a servant of the Lord as a servant of the Lord every one of us here are Sagat servants every one of us are God's vessels asking God in your own way God how do you want to use my gifts how do you want to use my life because according to Paul the Apostle in writing the book of Hebrews we not only find the interesting here the faith is a common denominator of life listen to what he says in Hebrews chapter 11 6 he says but without faith it is impossible to please God for he who comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of those who are diligently in god bill actually seeking God many people are not diligent seeking God when you come to God you have to be serious with God you really have to come with all of your heart with all of your emotions and say Lord here am i Lord I had this situation I had this problem Laura how are you going to speak to my heart and usually he speaks for his word and sometimes the reason we have the situations or problems is because God wants to get our attention or he wants to keep us simple and humble so that we can continue to seek Him it is impossible to please God unless we believe in God you see salvation is the free gift of God given to each one of us individually salvation comes as we put our trust and faith in Jesus Christ it's our Lord in our Savior and when we believe that when I don't know that we have faith in Jesus Christ it's not my faith he has given me the faith faith to trust in Jesus to be saved and to be used in the kingdom of God to bring glory and honor to him to him even in my weakness even in my infirmities I love it worshiping praising him he's God he can do whatever he wants to do Satan has always come along saying man you know start speaking to my ear trying to take my faith you know and do this and and get better towards God but I'm not been after God I accept whatever God wants in my life because I know that he knows better than I know there in John chapter 3 36 jesus said he who believes in the Son of God has everlasting life but he who does not believe the son shall not see life but the wrath of God abides in him now who can believe don't say have faith in God by putting my faith and trust in Jesus Christ I believe and yet there are people that are putting their faith in religion in religion there are so many religious people and yet I call the tours religion and then relationship I have relationship I don't know what you have our relationship I hid religion and the reason is because before I came to Christ religion kept me in deception and deception it wasn't until I opened the Word of God and started studying the Bible that I begin to know and to see that there's only one mediator between God and man the man Christ Jesus it's not Mary it's not the Pope it's nobody else but Jesus I don't care what denomination or what religion you're from let me speak you just a little bit here I'm gonna read you a couple things here some of the religious groups that we have today like the Muslims the Muslims put their faith in trust in the Quran and in Muhammad the Prophet think about that how about also the idolaters they put their faith in trust in graven images that don't speak they can see and they can hear and they can take and they can walk how about philosophy or philosophers they put their trust in what in their own ideas in their own ideas and then have a materialism they put their faith in their mighty dollar religion as they put their faith in their own works that's what most religions or I am said because of my works no you're saved by faith and through faith comes real works that's what the Bible teaches Christians put their faith only period on Jesus Christ there is no mediator between God and man the man Christ Jesus he's the bridge builder there is God here is Jesus and Here I am if I'm gonna get to God and not to the right of the left straight on this is why in the Sermon on the Mount in Chapter 7 of Matthew Jesus said if you want to go to heaven he says the way to heaven is narrow and very straight and very few people find it but the way to destruction it is broad in many many go their faith in Jesus Christ very narrow it's important that we understand and that we know that we truly have faith in Jesus Christ that I am going to heaven because I have put my trust in him and to put my trust in him then he can not only speak to my heart but as I opened the Word of God the Word of God begins to pierce my heart and I begin to understand the conviction and I begin to understand who he is in my life let me deal with three questions this morning question number one what is the place of faith in the Christian life what is the place of faith in the Christian life number one the Bible teaches us that without faith we cannot please God he rose 11 6 and without faith it is impossible to please him for he who comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently and time I read it to you I want you to memorize it secondly the Bible teaches us that through the hearing as you doing here of God's word comes faith Romans 10:17 so then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God by the Word of God thirdly the Bible teaches us that faith is our defensive weapon against ooh again Satan Ephesians chapter 6 16 Paul says above all taking the shield of faith which we roast with which you will be able to quench all of the fiery darts of the wicked one when he shoots those parts you'll be able to block them with what the shield of faith and then the Bible teacher says the true faith brings true works in the life of every believer James 2:17 thus also faith by itself if it does not have works is dead and then Paul says that if you don't have you don't have works the same thing fifthly the bible teaches us that our faith gives us victory over the world first John 5:4 for whatever is born of God overcomes the world and this is the victory that overcomes the world even our faith not as faith faith faith 6 the Bible teaches that we live by faith Romans 1:17 for in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith as it is written that can be all in Habakkuk chapter 2 he says the just shall live by faith the just shall live by faith how about 7 the Bible teaches us that we walk by faith Romans for 12 in the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision but who also walk in the steps of faith which our father Abraham had while still uncircumcised he talks about Abraham how he stepped up by faith and then how he circumcised his son later on him by faith they trusted and believed in God and by Abraham all of the nations of the world came through and then Jesus Christ came to give us not only himself but to give us salvation by faith in Him viii the Bible teaches us that we pray in faith Matthew 21:22 in whatever thing you ask in prayer believing by faith you you says you will receive but then again it's according to what God's will 9 the Bible teaches us that we overcome the world by faith first John 2 13 through 17 I write you your father's because you have known him who is from the beginning I write to you young man because you have overcome the wicked one I write your little children because you have known the father and I have read to you father's because you have known him who is from the beginning I have written to you young men because you are strong in the Word of God abides in you and you have overcome Satan do not they do not love the world or the things of the world if anyone loves the world the love of the father's not in him for all that is in the world is the lust of the flesh the lust of the ice in the pride of life it is not of a father bitterness of the world in the world is passing away in the lust of it but he who does the will of God abides forever and ever and ever and ever and then tenth the Bible teaches us that we die in faith he rose 11:3 by faith we understand the worlds were framed by the Word of God so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible so when you think of dying there's an appointed time for a man to die and then the judgment comes and when you see people that I see so many people die and when a person is getting ready to die if they're in a bed they always seem to think that last breath or chest comes up and then it sinks down and the spirit now is gone from the body and there's nothing in the body it's empty when my dad died I carry his body I wrapped it up and when I picked him up it was me there was no weight it was my dad wasn't even there there was no life and as we come to Jesus Christ and we think how we need not only to put our trust and faith in him how much more people watching each one of us individually if we really truly believe in him do you really believe in him this morning second question what are the fruits of faith in the life of every believer what are the fruits well number one we have freedom from condemnation or not condemned Romans 8:1 therefore there's no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh but after the Holy Spirit of God after the Holy Spirit of God John 3:18 he who believes in Jesus is not condemned but he who does not believe is condemned or because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God were not condemned secondly we have freedom from spiritual depth John 11:25 Jesus set her to Mary remember Lazarus died her brother I am the resurrection and the life he who believes in me there's faith again though he may die he shall live and whoever lives and believes in Me there is a yin shall never die do you believe this three times faith do you believe do you believe do you believe how about thoroughly we have spiritual life given to each one of us John 20:31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God and that by believing you may have life in his name twice again concerning faith fourthly we have eternal life given to each one of us John 3:15 16 for who server believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life for God so loved the world see in John 3:16 tells me exactly that God loved you for God so loved the world that He gave Jesus Christ his son to die for you and to die for me but literally tonight for the whole world and then he gives us the opportunity to come by faith and repent and ask him to come into my heart and then become a Christian or a believer fifthly we have an inheritance given to us acts 26:18 Paul is being talked to by the Lord Jesus Christ he says Paul he says to open their eyes in order to turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God that they may receive forgiveness of those of sins as an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me by faith in me 6 we have peace and rest given to each one of us Romans 5:1 therefore having been justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ 7 we have spiritual light given to us John 12 36 and while you have light believe in the light who'sa light Jesus that you may become sons of light these things Jesus both departed and was hidden from everyone of them viii we have access to God given to us officials 3:12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him ix we have sanctification given to us acts 59 and made no distinction between us in them purifying their hearts by faith purifying their hearts by faith and then 10 we have salvation given to us March 16 16 he who believes faith again and is baptized will be saved but he who does not believe he has no faith will be condemned or be condemned thirdly in last question who are the examples of faith in the old in in the New Testament about evil Abel and Cain Abel was a righteous man he brought his sacrifices by faith in God his brother King didn't he was coming by his own works to give a sacrifice to God and God rejected it it's like religion he rejected so Cain decided that he would murder his brother he went ahead and killed him and he buried him in the sand and then the Lord came along and saying how you doing Kate hey where's your brother I hear notice I hear the voice of your brother crying out to me and then King was just blown away that God not only found out his sin by faith Abel he says offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain through wedgy obtained witness that he was righteous God testifying of his gills Nessa and through it being dead will still speak through faith again in God I brought my sacrifice by faith to God and he accepted it how about Enoch another favor what am i anak I meant that did not die he goes out for a walk and he never comes back he says in Hebrews 11 fight by faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death and was not found because God had taken him for before he was taken he had this testimony that he pleased God that he pleased God how about Noah all a hundred and thirty two billion people on the earth and God comes to him and says no a hundred and twenty years and the end will come fill me in art there were no they had never ring yet I mean there was no water around where he was he said deal me an hour three story highs one window one door and they give me two of two two female to male and I'm gonna bring him into the ark if people don't reap it's a hundred and twenty years goes by he builds it and then God says do not know get the animals going to the art you your wife your three sons and three daughters Lots eight people the number of new beginnings in the Bible says this in Genesis 8 and he shut the door that door to salvation it was closed and then the flood came and swept away all these people it says this by faith Noah being divinely warned of things to come or yet not seen he moved with godly fear prepared an ark for the saving of his household by which he condemned the world and because error of the righteousness which is according to faith there it is again how about Abraham again Romans 4 1620 therefore it is by faith that it might be according to grace so that promise might be sure that all the seed not only those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham who is the father of us all I have made you a father of many nations in the presence of him whom he believed if God who gives life to the dead and caused those things which would not exist as though they did who in contrary to hope in Hope early so that he became the father of many nations according to what was spoken so shall your descendants be and not being weak in faith he did not consider his own body already dead he says he was about a hundred years old and the deadness of Sarah's womb which means she couldn't have any more children she was all to Abraham was straight in faith and giving glory to God why she got pregnant she got pregnant and here are two grandpas a grandpa the grandma can you imagine what it must be like if your grandpa your grandma got pregnant you go something's wrong here so imagine Abraham and Sarah and then how about the Centurion he was a he was a Gentile and he came to him and said Jesus I have a slave that is dying and when Jesus saw that he saw the Jewish faith they didn't have any faith but the Centurion came he says I know you're a man of authority he says go home and that Centurion will be taking care when he got home he was healed all the glory all the honor goes to Jesus Christ and then how virus a man of faith in mark 5 22 23 and behold one of the rulers of the synagogue came jairos my name and when he saw Jesus he fell at his feet and begged him earnestly saying my little daughter lies at the point of death come and lay your hand on her that she may be healed and she will live when he went to the house she was already dead is she actually brought her back from the dead Jesus and how about Stephen in chapter 6 verse 8 and Stephen full of faith power that grandeurs and signs among the people and then they killed him remember in Chapter 7 and then Lydia a woman of faith at 16 14 15 in that certain woman named Lydia heard us she was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira who worship God and the Lord opened her heart to listen to the things spoken by Paul and when she and her household were baptized she begged us saying if you have business if you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord then come to my house and stay with us so she persuaded Paul here is a woman and her whole household saved by faith in Jesus Christ and then my favorite Paul the Apostle in chat in acts 27 23 the Lord speaking to him he says for there stood by me this night an angel of God to whom I belong whom I serve saying do not be afraid Paul you must be brought before Caesar and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you therefore take heart men for I believe God that it will be just as it was told to me here's Paul the Apostle going to Rome he's never been to Rome he gets to Rome he's arrested and eventually by Caesar Nero he is appointed to die in the arena where they used to have the Lions and the Christians and they would kill Christians Paul the Apostle Christopher tells as he was going into the arena with two Centurions next one on his right one on his left then on his way in he shared the love and grace and mercy of God to them and when they saw his life there was no fear when they put Paul and it cut his head off that one of the centers and then the other one saw Caesar near I - I am a Christian today the testimony of faith in Jesus Christ if people look at your lives like Paul would they be converted because of the Holy Spirit in your life or the people do not believe you faith is an important thing in the life of a believer faith pleases God I pray this morning that God would touch each one of us individually and that he will give us more faith to love him to praise him and to do his will father we thank you so much for this morning God Lord I pray by the power of your Holy Spirit Jesus Lord I pray for those listening through cabe wave Lord Father for those that are visiting here with us this morning Jesus and lord I pray for those that are sitting here they've been coming in a long time Lord Father that we would examine our hearts Lord deeply and if you're here for the first time somebody brought you you want to make sure that when you leave here you don't leave the same way you came here different better
