hello thank you so much for joining me and today we're going to be doing crafts crafts with mud locking vines [Music] do [Music] do [Music] [Music] right and this is my project this is the thing you want to work on i'm going to want to make a little room for this doll and what i'm using is let's take all these bits out what i want to make it with is this um brick mold [Music] just a plain one i mean i do have one another one obviously because i'm a hoarder and i do have another one with the letters in sorry with the letters in but uh this one i want to use i want to use the plain one these brick bowls these brick molds are lovely and perfect and i think it would make a nice little room so i've got a few bits and pieces already that i can use um and i've got some paper to line it with some for the floor as well something like a parky flooring on it can you see let's see if we can unravel this so you can have a look at this so yeah i think today we're going to start on this doll's house and each week and look at that taking that tape i'll put rings of paper right so there you go that pattern underneath a little bit of it all right so you know what what i'm going to do is i'm going to start with the floor so let's see have we got a ruler and we have got a ruler okay so what i'm going to do so what you want to do you get your brick mold get these off ebay got loads of them try and get plain one if you can but you can also get one through the last letters but yeah if you want to make a little room for your doll get a brick mold yeah so when you've got your brick mould you want any paper you've chosen for your floor you need to measure the inside so that's eight centimeters by [Music] 15 25 8 by 25 i'm gonna write that down 8 by 25 and then you get your paper or card of choice for the floor i've got some parquet flooring here so i might as well use it so we want 25 so that's 15 there 15 25 i'm gonna mark it mark it with a pencil and then it was eight centimeters so measure eight centimeters mark it um in my other craft room it's a card maker and all sorts of things like that so i've got all these things like guillotines but you can use scissors draw a straight line cut it with a pair of scissors it just so happens that i've got a lot of craft equipment so i already had one of these so there we go put that under there for another one that's eight centimeters and that one is 25 centimeters okay so with a bit of luck i haven't just made a car wash of that and it should just let me get the bits of stone out of there so with a bit of look that would fit nicely inside there in fact it's slightly big it's like slightly big so i'm going to trim off i'm going to trim off the edge better to do it too big so just take a little bit more off the edge there only slither slither at a time okay right i'm not going there like so in fact i'll take a bit more off before i want it to sit a bit further in [Music] [Applause] just a little bit make sure it's all straight you've got these things have lines on to guide you but uh you're okay you just got a ruler a ruler and a pencil same job does the same job there we go got the floor cut out what i need to do is glue it in so i think what i'm going to use is my tacky glue although it's a wet glue it's um it's not one that would make the paper ripple if you use pva pva's a wet glue and it would make the paper equal you could also i suppose use double sided tape on here if you wanted to if you had if you had the red one the strong one but i'm going to use high-tech glue there's um there's quite a few different makes in this i've not used this for a while so i might have to unbung it here we go whatever the bins come let's do that in the bin right okay i'm gonna use a brush so and look what my brushes are in let me show you do you remember me finding that we thought it was a cigarette holder it's now repurposed as a pen and brush holder so there you go repurposed okay so we've got our tacky glue it's a quick dryer and it's not too wet so it doesn't make the paper curl and ripple up so we'll just put that all over oh okay right so it's glued all over i'm gonna turn it around and i'm gonna put pop it in the bottom there we go give it a press all over there you go i don't know if you can see can you see so now i've got a nice she's now got a nice parky flooring and so the next thing we want to do is i think what we'll do is the walls and that with the last we do this week so same again you just measure it all cut it all out and glue it in yep so when i come to the sticking part i'll come back but i'm just going to measure and cut the wallpaper and stick it in so fast forward [Music] do all right that's our soup two side pieces so i'm covering in glue and stick them on the sides fast forward it and then see it at the other side [Music] there we go second set second side on there see it's coming together [Music] that could do with taking tripping off but i'm gonna wait for the glue to dry then it'll be easier nothing or budge then they'll be stuck down so i will take that little bit of extra bit of wallpaper off there so now we need to measure the back and do the same process okay so fast forward this and see you at the other side [Music] okay so there we have it on the ceiling as well and then we just need to cut one for the back so i'll do that and come back to you it's the same thing just measuring gluing it in place right okay so the plan is to do um at all um a table for this doll's house that we've made don't forget we did the floor and we did the walls and the idea was that i'd use a wooden um thread spool a wooden spool there an old one and i thought for the top i'd do a mosaic um with some of the shards some of the shards we picked up this week and some other ones so um let's just get some shards together [Music] because i'm going to do it with resin so i'll pick pick a load of small ones [Music] okay okay so the plan is i want a circle i want a circle resin shard top to go on top of this this bobbin here okay so i'm going to use this circle mold here this one so first of all i'm going to pick my pieces and put them in just lay them roughly and it doesn't have to be exact because i just want to see what fits and what doesn't some small ones just do them pattern down doesn't matter see what fits maybe not that one oh that's a nice one that one's got a bit of a bird on actually i might try and use that one there right i think that will just about do it okay so i know they're roughly going to fit i'll take them out roughly how they went in what we're going to do is i'm going to get the resin and i'll show you what i'm going to do next right okay so i've got my uh uv gel here i'm going to put it just a thin layer on the base of this mold here just want a thin layer to go on to cover the bottom and then we're going to cure it under the uv light and then we're going to lay some more on top just what enough to thoroughly coat the bottom i might even put some white resin on the back of this rather than clear i'll see see how i feel when i'm doing it all right so there we go we've got a thin um layer of the resin just give it a second to settle settle flat and then what we're going to do is we're going to pop it under the light for three minutes so if you remember we just have a nail light that's a uv light and we just pop it under there okay so the first layer is done i'm just going to pop some more on there another layer and then i'm going to lay the um bits of pottery on top of this this is this mold is a little bit bigger than i'm used to so i might actually take the top off i'm usually doing the the smaller molds so get a little bit of gel in there and smooth it about try and get it all along the edges okay so now what we can do now there's another layer of this um uv gel on there i'm going to pop the um shards of pottery on it doesn't set because it only sets with the light so we've got some some wiggle room as we as we put them down okay and if you're happy with that which i am we stick it back under the light for um for three minutes okay so that three minutes is up and as you can see they just um set nicely in there but obviously i want to cover the base the back as well so i'm going to put some more on i prefer to do it in thinner layers just because um it just works better you can't see the layers um but yeah it works quicker it works better i mean you can use um the ordinary resin but it's not fast enough setting for me so we'll put another layer of this uv gel on you won't be the last layer right there we go [Music] there you have it and then another three minutes right i don't know if it's going to work or not but i want to do a white resin back to the um table so i'm going to get my resin give it a gentle shake this is the this is the fast cast sorry fast cast resin two parts 50 50 mixture i must admit i do tend to do it by eye 50 50. sometimes it fails or sometimes it doesn't but let's give it a go if i've got it in fact you know what i'll do i've got my molds if i make too much i can pour it into my moulds i've got got frozen charlotte mold and a where's it gone and a mold for that so if i have anything left over i can pour it in there that's frozen charlotte mold it in the white so right here goes okay a little bit more of that one i think i think it was a bit more happy with the first the second one a little bit okay just mix those two together it only goes white sorry when it dries and you know what i'm thinking i'm thinking i might add some of these guilty inflates to it it might work it might not i've never tried it before um we'll see put some in give it a mix if it doesn't work we'll do it again without nothing mentioned nothing gained is it right so let's place those in some more okay let's get yep right so that's uv resin and the uv gel resin and this is actual white cast resin isn't it so we will see i'm just going to pour it on top and what we'll have to do is we'll have to wait for this to set let's get that maneuver it about a bit so we can see the flakes but that should turn white but that's going to take time so what we can do while that is setting is we can make a start on something else i have got a little bit of a little bit this left so you know what i'm not sure how it'll look there's a head but let's pour it into that that mold let's see what that looks like when it's finished okay let me just do that to one side so that that's one side i'm going let me just um get the wire because you have to slit it slit the mold to get it out so just have the wire to keep them all together okay put that to one side and put this to one side this is going to take ages to dry so we'll come back to this later okay i just wanted to show you um some posts that i got this week um these these are thames pins now i wanted to do um a craft project with these and so i asked on my instagram if anyone could spare a few thames pins and i got two uh got a few replies actually and i've got two people that said they would send me them um and this first lot was of marina i think that's how you say your name marina marina bud she is a viewer and she's also my instagram friend and she very very kindly sent me all these to be fair i said just a few will do i'm not you know i'm not greedy but look at all those she sent me and they're lovely so yeah that is for a project that's for a picture i'm going to be doing and i do have somebody else sending me some more as well which i'll show you when they arrive but isn't that very kind so yeah my happy post this week with some pins some uh thames pins okay so i think this here now the resin thing has set so it didn't take too long to dry that's all um right i don't know if this is going to work out because um let me tell you i have not mixed these two resins before so i've no idea if one will stick to the other or what it looks like when we turn it out the other way okay so let's turn out this table top right yeah you know what i like it what do you think a little shard table top okay so let's move the mold out the way where's our table base the old um silco cotton reel there little vintage thing that i've got and then i want to glue that on there and that becomes the tabletop and i think it's worked hasn't it having that um rather than a clear background sticking that white resin with the gilding flakes on it just fills in any gaps doesn't it fills in the gaps right okay so the glue i'm going to use for that is this one i'm going to use my silicone glue it's my favorite glue um you know me i either use the um silicone glue um out the glue gun like bath sealant or or this one this is stick it from um doe crafts silicon glue get on amazon get on ebay get anywhere like that but this is great for 3d crafting or just for sticking things that you want to last really so this is a new tube so we'll just put a few blobs of this silicone glue on the top of here okay a few blobs and then we'll get the table top i'll do it that way so that we know we're sticking it in the middle yeah i'd say it's in the middle and then just leave it to dry and there you go we've made a table and you know what i really like it because i'm going to turn this egg up into a chair um but i can do the clay first i can do the clay now on here so it'll be dry and we can turn that into a chair for the little doll's house we always find these egg cups don't we there's half an egg cup but yeah i'm going to turn it into a chair a nice padded chair but i just need to do the edge with some clay first right so my idea for this is i was just gonna like roll it like a sausage just to take the roughness off the edge and round it a little bit so and what we'll do is we'll roll it as best we can on here get it as neat as we can okay so what i want to do then is i want to put it on the edge there and so now i'm wanting to guild gilded edge there and also pad the seat out etc so yeah we'll leave that there on the table to dry um the chair to do and we'll do a rug as well i think the doll's house needs a rug so i have this weaving loom here um i don't like these colors they're a bit they're a bit gordy really these are just in the wall that comes with it so i do have plus also i've never actually used this before so it's a learning curve and it's a learning curve you're coming on with me okay so let me get my basket of twine and all sorts of bits and pieces because i don't need a massive one i've already strung it um like that but one thing's like this i want the fibers these on it rather than um the wool okay so this is my basket of um this is my basket of um all sorts of ribbons and whatnot you need to sort out if you've been on the instagram you'll have seen that has started off with a great big massive box of ribbon all tangled up but i only wanted the vintagey looking stuff in here so let's pop that down i might even use that one actually that velvet one's quite nice right so let's pop that back down there and we note there that says mum's workspace don't leave anything here because the kids have a tendency to come in here and sit at the desk do some work and then leave the stuff right because we're only doing a short one i don't think i'll need that what you would do you would wrap your yarn around that so you're just putting it through all the time but uh yeah i don't think that's needed with this i'm pretty sure we could just thread it through but you never know trial and error all right so the idea of this is when you twist it it sends a diff a different thread down the wall up in the weft is it all right so that one sends that one down that way sends that one down okay every other thread up everywhere the thread down okay right maybe we'll need that or something else just to send it through i don't know like i say i haven't done this before there's not really enough to wrap around it so i'll probably just send it through right so and twist it the other way and then poke it through probably could do this with a large dining needle actually and twist it again i know you're probably all screaming at the television saying what are you doing you're doing it wrong right well you get the idea and open that just right we get the general idea i'm going to carry on doing that i'm going to add all the colors and i'll come back when it's um almost complete i don't want it too big i only want it probably about that big yeah so see what happens when i'm finished okay i'm not gonna lie this is quite torturous i think these need to be a bit tighter needs to be a bit taller and you know i'm making progress but it's slow because these things can you see they keep popping off where they're supposed to be and they have to keep every time i do it i have to keep moving them so anyway yeah lesson learned maybe these need to be a little bit tighter so they stay in line but i'm getting there it's getting there only a little bit more to go but yeah it is a little bit torturous right little tip i found when you're doing a little one like this just go over under over under over under it's far far quicker far far easier so i don't if you can see yeah so we go like that that's just far quicker than trying to move all the strings along this right pull it through push it down same again on the way back push it down over under over under always make sure you're going the opposite um as what you went on the thread before on the line before can you see that i was trying to hold it right a grotted the end to tighten the strings as well with the pencil and so right look over under like that pull it through push it down and then you want to go like that on the way back far far quicker it had been finished now if i just started it doing it like that okay but don't they look nice all those different types of um fibers walls whatever you want to call them i've got a few different ones here than just boring wool then they look nice okay i don't know what i'm going to do when it comes to tying these i'll have to do it one at a time and tighten or not i won't otherwise it'll all come undone i don't know maybe should even read the instructions i don't know but there we go so far so good right i'm just cutting the white threads and then tying them in a knot close to the rug this was um quite a hard thing to do really at first until i got the knack of it and it wasn't too bad right i can just cut that up but i'll cut these one at a time i might even add a different fringe to it actually should have chosen i shouldn't have chose why i should have chose a different color it's too stark yeah right i'll tie these off and then i will think about adding a separate fringe i think there you have it a little rug see that how that's too white is too white that isn't it don't like it right i'm just gonna have a look through my um my ribbons because i'm pretty sure i have something we've got that one that one's quite nice like little mini pom-poms that might be better what do you think ah found it finally finally found it okay i've got this this might be a bit better actually might be a bit better it might be a bit too much um i'll have a think i'll have a thing it's probably a choice between those two actually that one or that one right well i decided on putting that fringe and cutting it down so i've cut those ends they've been tied in a knot so i've cut them down and now i'm going to just glue this fringe on the edge i'm just going to leave it overhanging either side so that i can tuck it behind so put a bit of glue on the end there and on the end there put the lid on that and then i'm just going to fold it over and hold for a second [Music] i'm going to leave that to set and then when it's set i'm going to cut the fringe to match the other side it's a little bit of a lopsided um rug i'll cut that down it's a little bit lopsided but you know what it's a rug i've made so there you go yep that will stick and i'll cut that so it matches the other side and then it can go in there [Music] like so right so the next thing i'm going to do is the chair i'm going to turn that into a chair first of all i want to sand this clay just make it a little bit neater um i was going to use this but you know what i'm going to get a new one this is i need i need to um several different um powers i need to need something a bit slower for this this is way too way too fast so you know what i'm going to treat myself to a new one but for now i'm going to send by hand once you've given it a bit of an eaten up but just want to eat that you won't see the inside i'm not bothering to neaten up the inside um because that's gonna have a seat on it but yeah just give it a bit of a tidy up well like i say this does is great for sanding it's very very easy to sand there you go right what i'm going to do with that is i'm going to guild it i'm going to kill that edge right okay i'll put my gilding glue in the sink pot if you remember amended the lip on it so that could put a cork in it yeah or watch it from a gilding glue so what you do is you get your yielding glue and just put it all over the um the clay area or the area that you want gilding right so that's covered in glue and what we do now i'm going to gild it and i think i'm going to gild it in green just there's lots of bits of green so we'll get it to match i don't have um green gilding flakes um but what i do have is green gilding sheets so so we'll have a try with those there we go i don't usually use these so i'm not quite sure what to do um looking for yeah soft soft brush to be able to press it on don't use all sheet at once so i'm going to cut it down only a few little gaps really you could just fill it with the green but you know what i think i fancy putting different color on um i'm gonna use silver silvery one it's not actually silver because the gilding flakes that i have are all different colors right so it's gonna get messy messier right so we've done the outside edge of that chair you're not going to see the inside edge because i'm going to have some sort of um i've got bits of glitter floating about you you're not going to see the inside of there you'll probably just see the outside because i'm going to put some sort of fabric covered sponge on there to make it look like a seat okay so there you have it that's gilded right the battery went out on that so i might have lost the data on there so i'll just show you just close up again just in case there we go we did the seat just hot glued it on the back don't matter what that looks like because that's going to sit in there okay and then we cut a thin sliver of the um foam and we made a template because we made a template out the cardboard and cut it out on the foam and now what i'm going to do is put a piece of fabric to cover that with and the hot glue gun is on and i had just said it just shuts off after 20 minutes if you don't use it okay lovely fabric this my friend jan gave it me she moved to house and she had a clear out of a vintage ribbon of buttons and a fabric and she gave it to me so very much appreciate it it's lovely fabric right there you go now we'll get to the gluing you may want to sew if you were doing something like this you may just want to sew it and not glue it but i'm not very good at threading needles because my eyesight's not that good that's me just rubbing the glue off my fingers it's not too bad is it not too bad corners wise do the same on the other side oops so one final check before i get the silicone glue first one all right i'll do that one first right okay i'm going to turn off this glue gun i'm going to get my silicone glue instead right so i'm just gonna generously put blobs of silicone glue on this [Music] there you go that'll dry fairly quick we've got a nice little chair let me take this camera give you a little view what's going on in there we've made the table okay we did the floor and the walls and when we made the rug so i think it's looking really quite nice i've got a few other things to do in that yet um but yeah i think we're doing really well with that [Music] thank you so much for watching please hit the like please subscribe if you haven't subscribed already and hit that notification bell so
