hey everyone uh thomas here from 99 rock pounding drove all the way from minnesota what was it 11 hours yeah something like that he came here because he wanted to find fossils so he lusts after fossils while i'm looking at those agates in his video going ah i wish i could get more of those so anyhow we're gonna show them some fossils today and uh i don't think we'll find any agents for me i'll do my best to look just picked up this big guy it's kind of interesting patterns on it back she goes [Applause] i thought this was to tillite until i picked it up and it uh i don't know what that is sure is interesting looking though not supposed to rain today but looks a little dreary [Applause] all right my wife always tells me i should show more granite so that's a pretty one so there i there it is take a look because it's not coming home with me grabbed another oddball here another one that looks like it's probably go ganda till light based on that but this stuff's weird i don't know fun to look at anyhow i hope there's a little pudding stone oh that's a nice one got one for you thomas you want that one yeah i don't even have some striped casper in it yeah they usually do a lot of that jasper's got stripes on it cool here's a nice petoskey i think i'll keep that one [Applause] i'm not sure if that's the same as the rocks i find up in the up a lot but i find at least something similar to this up there pretty rocks last time i was in the up i took a couple home though so i think i'm gonna leave this one behind and thomas didn't want it either [Applause] found a pudding stone not too impressive but not too bad either but we'll leave that one behind [Applause] well i just pointed out this pudding stone to thomas flip it over and i'd like to see you to see what he just did with it so could you reenact that oh this is a little bit too big for me to do anything with so there i'm not the only one it's staying right there just wanted you to know it's not just me [Applause] oh that's neat look at that thomas see the pink how it's sticking out yeah must be a much harder mineral there than the rest of it but uh that's kind of cool it's a big mudstone thomas has been impressed with the mudstones would you say you don't find as many stripy rocks where you live yeah the only thing with stripes really is an eggot yeah we have lots of stripes and no agates sounds cooked his own has a fault line on it we're going back for it yeah oh yeah it does neat right there it's got husky stone nice so uh what do you think about the number of petoskey stones on this beach this is insane this is way more than i thought it would be why you're so picky they're kind of everywhere aren't they yeah yeah he's getting picky too he's he's realizing that you don't have to take everyone home right i just picked up this piece of quartzite at least i think that's what it is um put it down so i can turn it over i thought it looks much different on the other side but it's kind of a cool rock it's got these neat little speckles in it sometimes it's got stripes like this i just brought one of these home the other day to cut up and make crosses out of here's another really good one oh yeah cool like you said they're everywhere yeah this one's interesting i don't know if it's a conglomerate or if it's more appreciated check out this log it's it's big it's got all these little stones embedded right in them that's been in the water for a while that's pretty cool i think this is a mig deloitta basalt but i'm not sure what that mineral is but it's it's really cool it's usually a smaller piece like that i didn't actually see them that big i hope the color shows up it's a really weird color of yellowish green some sort of a conglomerate that's not a pudding stone it's still interesting so if that's a crinoid there's something else kind of cool [Applause] [Applause] i just picked this rock up because it had three different colors on it and i was thinking what made those three different colors i think i got it figured out so i think this is the actual color of the rock where it's broken here see that's broken and it was probably sitting in the dirt either like that or the other way around but it's fairly level around there where the red and the kind of brownish color come together but maybe got iron staining from the soil every rock and i see something up here that just caught my eye what this is that's one of those uh ones that'll fool you i'm thinking it's a pudding stone when it's not it's got some i guess that's probably a staining too that one out of there that's kind of cool nice rock [Applause] it's kind of neat huh yeah it's really interesting [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] yeah pretty nice potassium on this side not so nice on that side what do you think is that a keeper nah i've turned him into a petoskey snob we started out and thomas picked up every petoskey stone and put in his bucket now he's pretty selective they're heavy some interesting colors there not sure what these are but i always think they're kind of neat maybe some sort of a quartzite not sure i like them though [Applause] that one caught my eye and then i noticed there's a little petoskey down there too that's not a very good one [Applause] thomas just found another piece of chert this is the third really nice piece of banded shirt he's found um you're gonna have to see his video for the other two because they're amazing uh so watch his video for that [Applause] yellow one's neat actually came over here to look at this one [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] cool orange stripy rock technical terms here all the time well thomas what'd you think of the beach that you drove 11 hours to see i'd say it was worth it okay we've done really well um you got to watch his video over at 99 rock pounding i'll link it here but he found some really really great petoskey stones and uh some other nice fossils today so check his video out to see those thanks for taking me out here yeah no problem thanks for driving 11 hours it was worth it
