my babysit is a vampire is a Canadian TV show created by Teleton that aired from 2010 to 2012 on the network Fresh TV the series was created by Tom McGillis and Jen perch two people who also created the shows Total Drama and 16 this series was the first liveaction project that this creative team ever worked on along with being the first liveaction series to appear on the network you can see in commercial ads from around the time that Teleton mainly cartoons and this was really the only liveaction programming to exist until a little bit later on Tim Burns was brought in to write a script for the TV movie that was directed by Bruce McDonald Tim Burns would act as executive producer of the TV show that was presumably already greenlit by the time the movie started production and would essentially be seen as showrunner this is because important story elements and character beats were originally created by Him from the pitch that Millis and perch brought in there are other important names to remember like Ellen fine and Mike kiss but for now I won't get too deep into it the series would follow nerdy best friend characters Ethan and Benny as Ethan's mom hires a babysitter who was also a vampire who would have thought this babysitter's name is Sarah throughout the course of the movie both of their friends would end up being turned into vampires themselves and Ethan and Benny would learn that they are a Seer and spell master respectively I originally envisioned that this project would have to be a multiple episode long series because long form TV show videos were not popular on YouTube at the time but now that the trend has been established I fully feel comfortable with putting myself out there and just talking about the show plus I've been talking about myab on this channel for almost a year now so I feel pretty comfortable in being able to you know share what I have to say I have a TV show review podcast with a few of my friends where we talk about every episode of maab so I might be repeating some of the things that I've said on that podcast here today but nothing will be too redundant I just hope that unknowing listeners and fans alike will be able to enjoy the opinions and thoughts I have that I'm going to bring forward today so uh let's not waste any time let's just let's just get into it because there's a lot to [Music] say to me it's very clear that maab was created to appeal to all kids and focus on a different Market than Twilight or The Vampire Diaries but a mail Le show was very odd to see on something like Disney Channel so I think that was kind of the point of the creation since mail Le shows weren't as popular on the Disney Channel specifically the fact that maab aired on there I think is proof of this change that the show was willing to have young boys seem to be just as interested in vampires and werewolves but a lot of them didn't seem to want all of that feminine romance [ __ ] or whatever and since Twilight was the hottest cultural punching bag it made the most sense to hate on Twilight while also capitalize off of it the very creative in Universe Twilight parody of dusk is an important visual aspect to myav placing the show in opposition to Twilight by saying look we have vampires too but they're not lame sparkly vampires like in Twilight it's just very contrived in my opinion the network themselves actually called this series a parody SL spoof of teen paranormal romances and I might be getting a bit ahead of myself here but in my opinion the dynamic of Ethan and Sarah has always been a reflection of and made to be in opposition to the relationships most common in parent anal romances the characters can be seen as genderbent Edward and Bella really if you think about it and I also think Jesse has a lot to do with this sort of pesti I feel like in both of these relationships the one that Sarah has with Jesse and the one she has with Ethan is where the true parody SL spoof for lies whereas everything else remains strictly a pasti at best besides dusk there's a lack of heavy emphasis on exaggeration for comedic effect within the actual narrative in my opinion it seems to remain a style imitation that I think is in both good faith and bad at the same time I mean the show's script can become a bit ridiculous at times but since the writers always plan to keep the show light-hearted and comedic it's clear to see how that would be the case I would say that the tone of aab along with its intent is what makes the series so different and unique to different paranormal romance shows of the time I'm not saying that their method of mocking and ripping off Twilight tlight at the same time was a good thing per se but it definitely made the show unique that's for sure most of the series is a light-hearted romp through battles of the supernatural in a primarily episodic format which is in direct contrast to all of the heavily serialized and tonally dissident tv14 romantic dramas that were really popular at the time back in the day you'd see a lot of people compare maab to Teen Wolf primarily because of the character of Styles as well as the best friend Dynamic where one of them is definitely bisexual but maab is exclusively those mood lightning moments with none of the melodrama well almost none of the melodrama we still have some teen inks in there don't you worry my bab runs on a monster of the week episodic structure so there's a new foe every week that the Fang Gang have to fight only at the end of each season does the narrative take on a more serial approach similar to how the movie is structured in its narrative but even then it's only for around two episodes at best so only maybe 40 minutes of serialized content per season also in my opinion the movie should be considered the pilot episode and should be included that way because if you don't watch the first movie and you just jump right into the show you're missing a lot of context and this becomes worse when the movie is removed off of streaming services but the TV show is there like what happened on Netflix like a year or two ago so I'm assuming a whole bunch of people went to go watch the TV show and were like did I miss something and it's because yeah they did we know for sure that the universe doesn't reset after every episode because of small callbacks and the previously mentioned serial approach for season finales but very rarely does an average episode reference another they do build up lower overtime which we will talk about extensively but it's only really through passing mention this series also showcases a lot of dramatic irony pretty much every episode employs it while their use of literary devices is definitely less poetic than how Shakespeare uses it it does give younger audiences a fun way to engage in the material instead of the kids at home trying to solve the problem along with the Fang Gang it's mostly just them watching everything unfold this seems to work pretty well for most episodes but it has its faults at times for example sometimes Ethan and Benny are like extremely smart and are able to solve the problem within minutes and other times their brains are replaced with bags of wet concrete it honestly depends on how they decide to solve the problem it seems like to me that the writers came up with the villain and how they were going to be defeated and then came up with how the characters were going to get to that point later on it really feels like that because sometimes that like Journey to the conclusion feels a little bit contrived and awkward and if they really can't figure out a way for them to get to the solution they'll just have Benny's Grandma come in and solve everything which don't get it twisted I love Evelyn Weir she's my absolute Queen and she's great in every episode she's in but when she starts doing these nerds jobs for them is when I start to have an issue with it so as I said earlier maab was created by the duo behind Total Drama and 16 which are definitely two shows that are a lot more popular than this one is but if you notice that the classic style of humor in those shows is missing from this one then that's probably because they only came up with the basic concept of the story like I said earlier Tim Burns was hired to write the official screenplay for the movie and changed a lot about the premise once he got his hands on it it's clear to me that the nerdy exterior of the characters comes from a true place of relatability for the writers so I can appreciate that while also still thinking it gives off a lot of Big Bang Theory energy take that statement however you will Disney Channel then aired the series in the summer of 2011 and 2012 which doesn't make much sense when you think about it I'm almost certain that they syndicated the show during Halloween season I know for sure the movie that they did so that might be why so many people remember it being a part of like the Disney monstober or at least that's when I remember it airing but that might have just been because the bumper trailers they used for the show had a very similar layout to Disney monst over so it might have just gotten like blurred in a child's mind but yeah they aired this during Disney Channel summer which I find quite surprising I mean I know Disney Channel summer was like probably where they received Peak viewership and since the show was really popular it made sense to air it during the most popular like syndication block of the year but the fact that they basically just dumped all of season 1 within the span of like a week or two I'm pretty sure I haven't done like the direct research but I'm almost certain they they aired all the episodes in like one setting it probably didn't set up the show for that much success so the fact that it was like extremely popular with American audiences us audiences specifically that really shows that the show was appealing to kids a lot because it really was set up for failure if you look at it it also leads people to be confused whether the movie is a decom or not I mean it definitely isn't because it wasn't created by Disney Channel at all it says in the very beginning but most kids didn't bother to read the words that appeared when the movie started it just happened to air alongside other decom so people just assumed it was a decom and I know there's people out there who consider any movie that aired on Disney Channel to be a decom but it really isn't at all originally I thought maab was the first PG movie to air on the Disney Channel but I was wrong movies like holes and Another Cinderella Story both aired way before maab did also I understand that the Cinderella story movie with Hillary Duff came out before another cinderella story but I've never seen that movie so you can hate on me all you want for that but it is true that B is the first TV PG show to air on the network and actually a lot more explicit lines of dialogue and scenes were cut from the show entirely so it can air in the US I'll put a link in the description of some of the scenes that were cut but most of it is just like half swear words that most kid shows had probably allowed but Disney Channel was like squeaky clean so they didn't and also oddly enough like website URLs that are used as jokes I'm assuming this is because none of the networks actually bought like the domains to those websites so if a kid were to go to it they could just end up on any website so for safety reasons it just made sense to like not include them at all General gross out humor that was pretty common on Nickelodeon had to be cut so the show can air on Disney Channel I find that very interesting the original uncensored version of the show is basically impossible to find anywhere thanks to some some aab experts on Tumblr however it was found that the French dub of the show does include the uncensored version this is because the show aired in French before it aired in English in Canada which is very interesting it wasn't originally recorded in French the dub just happened to air before it did so that probably makes sense as to why it has all the censored scenes when the show was shipped out to the US the version that they made for the Disney Channel was most likely just the one they made for wide release which makes sense because on any streaming service or dvd you find it'll be the censored version and because of unprecedented circumstances we don't know really if season 2 had any censored moments that were also cut because it's basically impossible to find a DVD copy of season 2 along with really any behind the scenes information besides like random photos because once the show was canned they basically pretended that like it didn't exist for a few years but I'm just going to assume that there are no censored scenes from season 2 it's a lot of s's in that statement but I personally believe that there are no censored scenes from season 2 because season 2 was the first time the creators knew that the show was going to be sent off to the US while they were making it considering there are bumpers that aired on Disney XD that were recorded during the recording of a season 2 episode so they might have just intentionally made the show a little bit more clean so they wouldn't have to do any secondary edits but that's just my opinion if you want to see any previously unseen myab content in French then I'll link the video in the description Hello I have a massive update post editing that I just had to tell you guys about it was discovered that the for free to watch Roku Channel upload of the show is the original version that aired in Canada also in 4k this includes many previously lowquality renders of the deleted scenes as well as completely unknown deleted scenes all together in the writer's true intention I collaborated with a fellow maab expert to create a Full Compilation of all of the uncensored moments which I will make sure to link in the description thank you to your bro for really shining a light on this important piece of maab history now back to me talking about the characters or whatever now let's talk about the main characters of My Babysitters a Vampire that would be the babysitter the baby she's sitting and the Annoying gay one that everyone hates that last sentence could describe literally every single person in the cast but you know we'll get there Benny wear is the quirky side character best friend who is constantly getting the main group into trouble he is a spell master being trained by his grandmother Evelyn and outside of being extremely [ __ ] at Magic and never contributing positively to the group he's also extremely misogynistic and a huge [ __ ] yay we'll talk more about Benny's magical abilities when we get to the lore of the show but for now I'll just say that he's absolutely bad like he's Dreadful like he never becomes good at Magic throughout the entire series he exudes this intense nerdy confidence that just allows him to behave however he wants whether it's cat calling girls in the hallway or outwardly talking back to his teachers and class it does give me life to know that he's the kind of class clown that like no one really likes you know like that kind of kid no one takes him seriously and even though he's a loser and is not popular at all they don't try to make him seem like this secret genius who's destined for greatness like he's just a dweeb and a loser and for good reason he's pretty much failing all of his classes and he relies on Ethan to do like everything for him they joke once that he's really good at math and him and Ethan are in the chess club so maybe he has a little bit of something going on in that tiny skull of his but most of the time he is as smart as a bag of rice I think maybe if he took anything seriously whatsoever he would be a lot more well adjusted but considering he is constantly being the butt of the joke or making jokes it's hard for him to grow past this kind of a petty nerdy Revenge of the Nerds energy if that makes any sense but you know what basically everyone in the main cast is a bad person so I shouldn't be giving him as much [ __ ] I'm making it out to look like Benny's a bad person but in reality he is very funny and brings a welcomed important Dynamic to the group generally Benny working as the goofy comic relief side character is a great fit for him in the series he's the True Heart of the show's comedic tone with his inappropriate comments and silly on liners and all he has a hard time coping with serious situations and he uses jokes as a way to mask how he's truly feeling which is clearly something the writers intended to have embedded into his character so at least his silly antics actually like equate to Something in real life you know like he's not just a joke mouthpiece for the writers he's like actually has a reason to be constantly telling jokes he's been the fan favorite for years because of this I would even argue that he was a Tumblr sexy man in his day but um I don't really want to talk about that considering how gross it is in hindsight but yeah the Benny weird tag on Tumblr is the most popular maav related tag and that's clearly the most valid way to look at popularity so there you go I would talk about how attakus Mitchell does a very good job portraying the character and that there's no weak link among the cast but he definitely is a highlight of the show uh but I'm going to vomit it in my mouth if I say anything nice about him so let's just continue Benny Weir as a character is also extremely selfish and uh self-absorbed in the season 1 Premiere episode lawn of the Dead Benny decides to resurrect a girl's dead dog basically everyone knows about this episode obviously since it's the first one of the show but I feel the need to make a big deal out of it because it is absolutely insane it's the exact mixture of ignorance and flagrant abuse of power that makes the show so enjoyable to many people myself included honestly if the culture of fans bullying networks was as intense as it is now I truly feel like the Disney Channel could have picked up the show for a final movie or something but I'm getting off topic Benny convinces Ethan to take part in a very dumb plan of resurrecting Del's dead dog who I always head caned as being the snack bar girl from the movie that Benny kisses but I don't know if that's true or not and he generally causes a lot of Misfortune to the towns folk many tween shows where the characters have some sort of special ability really always forces the characters to be like inherently good like as much as I love Wizard's Waverly Place I feel like Alex should have been a lot worse of a person I know she's already like pretty mischievous and kind of bad at times but like she's always constantly being like Oh I actually did the wrong thing and then fixing it at the end forance Benny where it's like he does the wrong thing and then literally only has to fix it because the entire town gets shut down like this guy doesn't give a [ __ ] at all again it just makes the show more interesting and engaging to watch it's kind of like watching a car crash at times and it's not like it's too inappropriate for children I mean it is rated PG so like Parental Guidance is advised generally it does do a good job of teaching lessons without feeling like a teacher like scolding you in class like a lot of other Disney Channel shows did again it surprises me that this show aired on the Disney Channel and not on like Nickelodeon or something because its energy seems to kind of clash with Disney's main motive like I remember parents kind of being mad about the movie coming out because there's a scene where Benny literally like fills up a picture full of holy water and then lies to a priest and considering Disney was generally like a Christian friendly channel that was quite shocking to probably see next to airings of Let It Shine but anyways I'm getting off topic let's just say that if Dela really does believe Benny resurrected her dog from the dead which is already a stretch in itself but let's say she does believe him why would that endear her to him in any way possible and not just freak her out the question of whether the towns folk understand that the supernatural exists or not is up to debate in itself but considering this is the first episode it's pretty easy to assume that they don't know that the supernatural exists so in that case Dela I think would just you know freak out and maybe not date Benny who knows either way his absolute douchebag behavior in this episode is a perfect example of his ml throughout the show which is is to get girls and be cringe but at least he's free but enough about this arrogant twink let's get on to the nerdy twink Ethan Morgan is the Bonafide leader of the fan gang and is also technically the main character of the show Benny and Sarah are supposed to be on equal level to Ethan and for the most part they are but Ethan can be best described as the audience surrogate he's the level-headed trustworthy one that usually reacts the same way that the audience most likely would but other than that he's generally the more empathetic and nervous one who Sarah always has to save Ethan has more to do than just be nervous all the time and be the person that Sarah has to save because he's actually really good at problem solving and he also is the one that cares the most like he's the only one with like more than half a brain plus his Visions Ethan is a sear and I think it's really cool that all of the main casts are able to have supernatural abilities that help them solve their monster of the weak style problems it also causes a lot of problems but Ethan's Visions are usually less likely to get everyone in trouble and like you know shut down the entire town I'm looking at you Benny so Ethan's the least problematic of the group relatively I mean like I said they're all bad people but Ethan is the least bad he's bad by association because everyone else is a bad person and he doesn't do anything to stop them so that makes him like level ground you know Ethan's relationship to s is one that many might find relatable and it's still kind of awkward to translate without being creepy but the show does a good job of kind of skirting along that line Ethan has a massive crush on Sarah and luckily he's much more respectful for boundaries than other characters within this genre might be he never really tries to push her into noticing him in that way most of the time I mean the Love Potion episode happened but like I really can't get into that right now it's most likely because of his intense shyness he can't really portray how he truly feels about her and even when he is able to express how he truly feels there is a very cute and innocent relationship that the two have I find it very sweet also Ethan has a little sister named Jane she seems to be like a young Prodigy of Evelyn so I don't think it's like inherently implied that she also has like Seer abilities or even like magical abilities on the level that Benny does but I always assumed that like characters could be born with like an inh talent for magic like they can have like a wizard Gene within them but then everyday people could also do spells if like they really tried Jane might have a little bit of magic sprinkled in her that we don't know about but in general she seems to just be like a menace little sister type and I absolutely love it I love this kind of character I wish they used it more often in shows a very underrated archetype in my opinion also I want to talk about Ethan's parents for a second Samantha and Ross Morgan because oo boy the entire premise of the series and what sets up the movie is the fact that Ethan's parents are constantly going on dates and that they can't trust Ethan to take care of Jane by himself so that's why they hire a babysitter also it's like supposed to humiliate him but honestly there's a lot of flaws in their plan Ethan and Benny are too busy nerding it up in the kitchen that Jane just like walks outside pretty late at night all by herself and is just found screaming in the driveway when her parents get home so they originally hire Erica to be the babysitter but because she's being a manic pixie dream girl Sarah ends up going instead because uh she did hit their roof so maybe she was like feeling bad about that this entire situation is extremely [ __ ] up when you think about it because they have no idea who this girl is she didn't even lie and say that she was Erica she was like no I'm Sarah I'm a friend of Erica like there's no no way you would ever invite a person like that into your house I'm sorry at least I wouldn't but you know I did grow up in the ghetto compared to these people look at this house it's ginormous they must live on like 2 acres of land his backyard is like the size of three houses combined like I cannot believe that they live in this Mansion Ethan's dad does work in insurance so maybe he's just loaded but I have to assume that they've inherited this house over Generations because this is like some 19th century relogistics when it comes to like plotting a land in a suburb you know if Sarah was like a big nasty Bad vampire she could have just eaten all of them and then just like moved on with her life but no she happens to have empathy and doesn't want to be a vampire so she doesn't kill them but yeah she totally could she even said it she's like if I wanted to kill you I would have you know like I had all the opportunity to and it's all Ethan's parents' fault it's because they're swingers who are too focused on constantly going on dates for like multiple nights in a row by the way the movie starts and they're coming home from a date and it's the day before the first day of school so let's just assume that it's a Sunday school schedules are really weird so sometimes you would start like on a Tuesday or a Wednesday but I don't know how it works in Canada so let's just assume that their first day of school is on Monday if that's the case immediately the next day on their kids first day of school that night they go on another date like what are they doing why are they going on a date two nights in a row and after their kid's first day of school I don't know maybe maybe they don't need their parents to be there but like still I think it's weird like I think it's supposed to be described that they go on like Friday night date nights but like it seems to be a lot more than that considering the track record of the show they're basically not even there when Ethan's parents get turned into dolls because Jane resurrects her doll and she turns other people into dolls his parents are gone for like a full almost 2 days and Jane doesn't even notice she's literally just like okay Ethan have my lunch today like that's why they don't parent they don't do [ __ ] you're telling me that as an act of like teaching your son a lesson to be more responsible you're going to invite a girl who goes to his school you're going to pay her in to hang out in your house with your teenage son parents of the Year truly anyways I can stop the AVGN bit just know that Ethan's parents are awful all the family figures in this show are bad people I mean Evelyn is a pretty nice character you know she's caring to a degree now would be a good time to put on that clip where they're like Grandma call the police and she's like whoops I can't find the phone Grandma call the police oops I can't find the phone honestly to get back on track I think Ethan is the best character in the show he might not be my favorite my favorite is Rory obviously but he definitely is the best character to lead the show he's a good group leader even though he's always paired with Benny and I mean like always this caused a very intense shipping culture within the show but trust me we'll get to that I think he works well with any character he's just pretty well-rounded and you can understand his motives basically in any moment I realize that I don't have much to say about Ethan at this point in time but trust me I have a lot to say about him regarding the season 2 finale which we going to talk about all together when we get there I think Ethan being the most reliable character of the group causes him to be the least problematic which means I kind of have the least amount to say about him but I do have more to say about Ethan regarding his relationship with Sarah which I will talk about when I get to her which is now by the way we're going to be talking about Sarah now Sarah is the most shafted character in The Show by a long shot sorry I should probably do an introduction first before I get into my rant even though she's supposed to be a main character the babysitter who is a vampire in most of the narrative she's treated like a member of the secondary cast at least in my opinion but besides the main Arc that they give her which I do think is very good they really I feel like underutilize her as a character within scenes I feel like Sarah is an icon character from this series when you think of this show I feel like the first character you think of is Sarah because she embodies everything good about the show she's a great representation of what to look forward to when watching the series and in the early fandom years people really didn't appreciate her but I can't really blame them this was kind of a problem within the show itself a lot of the show feels like the Ethan and Benny project instead of like a kind of five group ensemble cast which I think is where the show Works its best which season 2 definitely improves on but like I said earlier Sarah has a season long Arc that is very satisfying to watch and comes to a very tragic conclusion Sarah has what I can only call Elena Gilbert Syndrome it's where people constantly describe who she used to be before this lifechanging event happened and she's never really been able to bounce back from it in the movie Erica says that she has Straight A's and that every one likes her and she's really nice but by the season 1 finale she's about to flunk out of school and is beating up [ __ ] in back alleys it's clear that her relationship with Jenny Jenny head Cannon it's clear that her emotional relationship with Jesse has caused an intense physical shift in her character as well as emotional someone on Tumblr joked that something traumatic will happen to her like every 3 months and that she can never catch a break and that's pretty pretty true honestly season 1 sees Sarah subtly going through some very intense emotions in the background of the narrative that is genuinely heartbreaking to witness we know from the movie that Jesse turned her into a vampire against her will and throughout season 1 we see her silently deal with this conflict this feeling that like she doesn't want to be a vampire but her Fate has already been sealed in some sort of way and so she's constantly trying to fight back and find a cure to become normal again and is unwilling to accept this new normal of hers they're actually a lot more darker topics to discuss that I might talk about in a later episode or maybe check out the podcast episode we did on the season 1 finale because we touch on more heavy topics that I don't really want to get into right now generally wanted to keep this video light-hearted but yeah it is quite sad actually in multiple episodes Sarah will just abruptly mention that she's very upset over the fact that she's still a half vampire and the castle respond with a mixture of blat and denial and just swiftly moving on to avoid the conflict whenever Sarah brings up the fact that she wants to be human again to her best friend Erica she always responds by shutting her down completely and tells her she needs to turn fully for her own good and while I actually do agree with Erica here it's really not handled well at all like it's treated with no sincerity or like care which I understand the show is a comedy but it does have its serious moments so I feel like those should have been addressed properly well I don't think Erica has the capacity to think about anyone but herself in certain moments so I guess I have to blame the writers for that one she can't even accept the fact that she is a vampire in the season 1 finale she still has this idea that one day she can be turned fully human again and that she can continue her life as normal but that's pretty much impossible and no one is really helping her except that fact besides Jesse surprisingly who is the only one who's actually helpful in getting her to face the facts but you know it's a very uh complicated situation the season 1 finale Sarah is able to stay a half vampire or fledgling as they call it in the show by drinking like manufactured human blood substitute Sarah really shouldn't be alive at this point in the show she basically should have died by the end of the movie but they wanted to you know keep her a half vampire so they could have this dramatic season 1 finale where she does turn into a vampire spoiler alert if you haven't seen this show it's over 10 years old this limbo between being human and being vampire is clearly where her personality is at the time it's like a good reflection of how she's feeling she's Torn Between Two Worlds as Jesse would say so when season 2 starts and she is a full vampire and she comes back after months of not seeing any of the rest of the cast for a long time her character's new motive is to establish a new normal of sorts she clearly still has a lot of emo baggage that she has to deal with but I'm pretty sure in season 2 she's just decided to move on from it all she she's like she's like you know what I still have all these problems but I'm a mortal so I can deal with that like a 100 years from now I might as well just have fun with these mortals before they die I think that's I truly think that that is where like she lies in season 2 and I I would have hoped they would have done more with her character regarding her emotions on being a vampire in season 3 if that had ever happened oh man I think my air is on in this this clip it's okay deal with it Sarah and Ethan's relationship does get to develop more throughout the show and it really comes to a head in season 2 you can tell the writers started pushing the will they or won't they notion a lot more once the second season started especially in the Disney Channel ads like literally every episode was like are they going to kiss and it's like no they don't but like at least not outright lying like the Victorious ads were I swear kid showells were so obsessed with ships that like every commercial for an episode would be like they are going to kiss they are going to kiss and it's like they don't stop lying to me Sarah really never sees Ethan as a romantic interest for herself she's friendzoned him pretty hard in that sense but you can tell she starts to grow to like him and his friends a lot more as The Show Goes On apparently that was something the writers intended to do that Erica and Sarah being more like popular girls would learn to kind of love the nerdy awkward boys a little more truly becoming friends with them and not just being like the people who solve Mysteries together you know becoming a real Scooby-Doo gang of sorts but Sarah specifically starts to have a little bit more affection towards Ethan and starts to see him as more of a romantic option although I don't know how she'd ever be able to date him after that love potion episode I know Benny is mostly to blame for that and Ethan seemed to think it was weird after a certain point but like I said earlier Ethan being a bystander to Benny's bad decisions to make him just as wrong as Benny is that's why they both get punished at the end I always felt that we were never able to understand Sarah's feelings when it comes to her side of their relationship mainly since like I also said earlier they really neglected her character in certain terms of the narrative but if I'm being honest with you here just you and me talking together I feel like Sarah only really gravitates towards Ethan because she wants to feel a sense of normaly in her life like I said earlier she sees being a vampire as not normal and some something that she tries to escape from even when she is a vampire in season 2 it's something that she doesn't really want to focus on in her life she doesn't want it to be the one thing that defines her unlike Erica who is the exact opposite so being with Ethan who was a relatively normal kid like yeah he sees demons and such but he seems to be more on level of average high school kid than Erica is so I think she feels herself gravitating towards hanging out with him more because he can provide her with that old feeling she used to have before she got turned turned you really have to feel for Sarah she has so much emotional turmoil going on and no one seems to really care I could talk about her for ages okay we're going to talk about The Supporting Cast now while I think all of these characters could technically be considered main characters I find that the show seems to center around the main three we already talked about and then use these characters as more B plots or villains that I want to talk about so let's talk about them now let's just get right into it Rory's my favorite character of the show he's also the character I empathize with the most I've previously described him as the person everyone talks [ __ ] about immediately after he's left the room especially since in the movie no one seems to like him and the only reason why the gang puts up with Rory is because he's been turned into a vampire at least that's what it feels like to me Benny even debates whether they should go save this guy from the party Benny even debates whether they should go save him from this party where he's clearly just been invited to be food for all the vampire cult dudes and their negligence is actually what causes him to die in the first place maybe if these losers weren't too busy dancing by the pool Rory would still be alive today but no because nobody cares about Rory okay so that's a bit of a lie I'd say Rory is very popular in the fandom because of his absolute Swagger but within the narrative he's pretty consistently being [ __ ] on by the other characters we never see him be extremely annoying either at least not more annoying than the rest of the main cast is he's just this sort of nerdy misunderstood guy who just happens to get turned into a vampire by act one of the film and I think that's what makes him one of the most interesting characters in the show I feel like we don't see characters like Rory that often in Supernatural shows usually the vampire characters are these cool types and are super edgy or heartthrobs or they're villains that need to be stopped but Rory is just this really nerdy kid who's just hanging out and enjoying his life but he just happens to also be a vampire it treats vampirism as more of an element of his character rather than the sole thing that defines him this is what I mean when I say this show is so compelling and enticing to watch there's a lot of interesting ideas that may not live up to the hype fully but they're still cool to see in the rendition that we got it's just so odd and fun to see this loser drinking blood and killing people the same way Damon from The Vampire Diaries would or something like that although so while Rory does have his vampire moments The Narrative likes to skip on him being a vampire from time to time which does make me sad this is a lot more of a season 1 issue the problem pretty much goes away by season 2 but that can mostly be seen through different ways the vampire characters drink blood Rory is almost exclusively depicted as drinking animal blood throughout the series so he really takes Ethan's word for it in the movie and just rolls with it it's clear that he isn't adverse to drinking human blood as we see in the blood drive episode season 1 episode 5 but he never hunts down humans for sport like Erica does and he mainly sticks to small animals like rats and birds once he does kill a cat but people seem to be uncomfortable with that fact so I won't dwell on it too much like I said earlier his General stupidity is on the same level of everyone else in the main cast but he of course has his own personal brand of weirdness that makes him very special Rory stupidity is what many May Define as his main character trait which is very much the case especially since he has Cat Valentine syndrome where he becomes more and more stupid as the show goes on it's like the vampire toxins are leaking into his brain or something because before he gets turned he acts like this standard science obsessed geeky kid who loves Star Trek but by the end of the series he's on a whole other level of dumb it makes me wonder if when they wrote that one dumb kid joke in the movie they realized he had dumb blonde comic relief potential and just rolled with it besides all that however Rory is able to shine a whole lot more in the small moments that may go unnoticed by people I may end up talking more about this in the lore segment coming up soon but I've noticed that he and Erica have a lot more in common than you'd think there's this Carefree energy that he and the other blonde have in common that I can only assume as a ampire trait since we only see Sarah start to portray similar traits once she's fully turned as well since we don't know much about these characters before they became vampires I'm going to say that my hunch is right maybe Rory was a little more Meek and timid when it came to danger but now he's running at full speed towards an oncoming train like it's a thing to do my best example of this is again in the pilot episode once the whole gang finds out that there are like rabid animals possessed by demons on the loose around town and school gets canceled Rory can't do anything but laugh and cheer at the excitement instead of like you know be freaked out like the other two boys are Ethan is actually concerned for the well-being of the town and Benny's upset that he doesn't get to make out with some random girl also that the fact that his grandma got mad at him for poisoning an entire dead pet population and Rory is just there for the ride he's down for whatever he's like I'll do anything I don't care I won't die and he's just laughing the whole time having as much fun as he can I'm going to assume that being Immortal allows this sort of Personality change to happen especially when you have the brain capacity of a Geral and the ongoing horror of living forever hasn't quite set in yet there's just something so enticing and refreshing about seeing such a sunshine vampire character not be played as just a gimmick again it's much different than when other shows especially kids shows try to do this a common little quirky Trope that show will try to do is be like oh they're a vampire or they're like a demon but they're actually all happy and sunshiny and like that's kind of the surface level of it but Rory is definitely not like that he's different he's not like other vampires okay he gets Parts in each episode not as much as everyone else and there are many episodes where he's outright just left out but I think his bright personality is felt in every episode that he's a part of and I can appreciate that he's my favorite character for that reason Erica is a really great character that gets a lot of great moments but I do have some issues with her that aren't too serious but I just wanted to mention personally I feel like it was never The Writer's intention to have Erica constantly murdering people but there are some borderline moments that do make for some pretty maob jokes like when she implies that she's going to eat a panda like girl why would you do that Erica's transformation into becoming a vampire is the most drastic out of all of them her transformation from being this nerdy kid to a Huntress who's constantly looking for other people to feed on gives her big Jennifer's Body Energy and you see a lot of people making fan cams and obsessing over her because of that well I do think she's an iconic character and I love her presence in the show I find myself in recent years not liking her as much I tried to think why I wasn't a big fan of Erica and I realized it's because she's mean to Rory which isn't a valid reason to not a character so I'm probably un unvalid in this opinion so I will say I love her aggressive energy she brings to the show yes Sarah is the one who always beats people up and I love that for her but the only reason why Erica doesn't outright kill every villain they have to deal with is because she really doesn't care much Erica is actually the only character in the show to not fully be in two episodes of season 1 she's completely missing from the second zombie episode not the zombie pet episode but the zombie zombie episode and the one where Sarah gets possessed by a demon and in other episodes she might have like one scene and then disappear entirely because she is the less likely figure to actually want to do anything about all of the monsters roaming the town like Ethan and Benny and Sarah want to stop this from happening so it doesn't harm people and ry's there cuz he likes his friends but Erica doesn't care about any of that and so a lot of the time they have to work a way to make her be involved in the main plot season 2 definitely fixes this and we got a lot more Ensemble moments and I really appreciate that that was something they worked on moving forward because I really do miss Erica's presence when they were mystery solving the second episode of season 2 is a great example where Ethan and Benny and Rory are under like a spell and so Sarah and Erica have to actually solve the problem and save the day I really like that for them I wish they would have done it more often I wish that wasn't just a gimmick I guess the best explanation for this is that the writers didn't know how to write one female character let alone two so one female character or the other ends up not being involved in the episode based on who's getting the main focus for example in the toilet Gator episode for example in the toilet Gator episode one of my favorites of season 2 Erica is much more involved in the main mystery solving plot and so because of that Erica and Sarah end up spending less time together I feel like and I really like the two of them together even though they do have their issues I mentioned this in Sarah section but Erica was really not helpful in Sarah being able to fully transition into being a vampire most of the time when Sarah would be like I don't want to be a vampire I want to be normal Erica would be like you're a vampire being a vampire is awesome don't you get it because for Erica becoming a vampire was the best thing to ever happen to her it really changed her life for the better and she has a hard time understanding that that's not the same for Sarah Sarah has had a very different experience with the whole vampirism first of all she was not turned willingly and she didn't fully transition willingly either from what we see in the movie Erica did both of those of her own accord so clearly she's having a much better time than Sarah is and then all of a sudden Sarah is just turned into a vampire and she's like okay problem solved but the problem still is a thing I've been avoiding the season 2 finale this entire time but I will mention that this does get brought up again during that moment even now that they're both vampires Erica will try to get Sarah to do more vampirey things together Sarah's like why can't we just go see a movie and Erica's like no we have to sit in the dark for 5 hours and talk about blood types and you're going to enjoy it like I still think they have a hard time connecting with each other in that sense other than that I also feel like because they don't know what to do with Erica when it comes to the mystery solving element of the show they just give her one of two things to do at any given moment one she's really jealous of the villain or two she wants to [ __ ] the villain if it's a humanoid creature that they're fighting this is usually the standard setup like I said in the toilet Gator episode she's not trying to [ __ ] the gator and she's a lot better in that episode because of that I liked it in the Werewolf episode and I hated it in the jockenstein episode I loved it in the double negative episode and I hated it in the siren episode so that'll give you an example of at what times I like it what times I don't I know I've probably spent a lot of time making Erica seem like a bad friend and not useful in the plot at all but I really do like her character a lot I love her friendship with Sarah I think her and Sarah are soulmates and meant to be together they have this really sweet bond that goes Way Beyond all of the drama of the movie and and I think that's what holds them together throughout it all also Erica is very true to the type of vampires that have become popular around the time so I feel like if they didn't include a character like her there would have been something missing in the show so her involvement brings along some nice familiar situations that many of us love to see Jesse is the main villain of the series and while he isn't necessarily a supporting character he does show up enough that I think it's important to give him a section of his own this man has a backstory that's almost too cool for this show because the series was made for kids they definitely weren't able to explore more of the psychological aspects of his character in regard to how he ended up becoming the villain that he is Jesse is the only old ass vampire of the cast except for like Anastasia and the rest of the vampire Council but that's besides the point I find that very interesting because most of the time in these Vampire shows all of the main character vampires are from like the goddamn Civil War era or something but it's actually really refreshing to see that there's a new crop of vampires that don't really care about the old traditions and to find their existence in new and interesting ways Jesse's existence in the show is almost like making fun of all of these old ass vampires who are still kicking it in high school at least I see it as a sort of pasti in that sense Jesse is from the late 1800s and is actually a priest this is a 200-year-old priest who spends his time making out with teenagers and attending High School in the modern day and no one seems to care to me his motives and plan make all the sense in the world but I can see how it's a bit confusing if you're not literate in maav like I am you haven't dedicated your life to the art that is maav lore and I you know I understand you could be doing better things at your time like watching paint try or having a hobby of boiling water maybe Jesse is the original person who established the town of White Chapel where the show takes place it was originally named Black's church and he ran this sort of vampire Catholic town where he would feed on human towns folk nearby it's actually unclear how long Jesse has been a vampire he could have been a vampire for centuries before he established Black's church back in the late 1800s or after he established that church he could have been turned and then it became a sort of vampire Colony when it when it was originally more of a Catholic colony of sorts in Canada this show takes place in Canada by the way at a certain point the human locals revolted against him and his little vampire cult and killed almost all of them but he survived also his name originally is Horus just wanted to make that clear just want to make sure everyone knew both Erica and Sarah fought for this man and his name is Horus you hate to see such beautiful women fall to such schemes but after the name change Jesse spent almost 200 years plotting to revive his old cult buddies and take the town of White Chapel once again to restore him to his former glory and such and by the end of the movie he's offed by these two Geeks Who just learned about him two weeks prior a powerful vampire in 200 years have nothing on two Twinks in two weeks two Twinks in two weeks is my new sitcom that I'm pitching it's kind of like um it's kind of like Will and Grace but more or gay somehow and then he's um kicked out by the vampire Council that's actually a deleted scene that no one has seen except me apparently I'm debuting this piece of maav lore to the fandom I don't think they know about this yet there's actually a deleted scene where uh Jesse was officially kicked out of White Chapel for being a Vermin of sorts so good for him you got the man back together new outfits someone had to restore order you and your chaotic Behavior no longer have a place here I disrupted a school dance so what I finally got Sarah onto the team members you are not you are vanished wait you can't get rid of me I made this town Return of the it seems that Jesse has accidentally started a new plague of vampires in White Chapel in an attempt to revive his old buddies from the 1800s which is obvious to see considering that both Sarah Erica and Rory were all turned because of Jesse and his minions and this becomes a very big deal for the season 2 finale so it's kind of cool to see the Fang Gang have to deal with the repercussions of Jesse's actions all the way in season 2 unlike most shows where where it feels like they're redoing the same plot over and over again it feels like they're more exploring the world they set up from the very beginning and reaping what they sewed of sorts so I don't think it's too repetitive when Jesse comes back for every finale I kind of wish they would have done that even more if they had more seasons I actually wish Jesse would have become more of a recurring character if there was ever a season 3 but you know I may be getting ahead of myself there also I don't know where else to put this so I'm just going to talk about it now um Jesse seemed to have like two second and command people in his little vampire cult which were um gourd and Wes those three seem to hang out the most around the school before the Vampire Party happens which proves that Shakespeare's MCB Beth still inspires many to this day but Sarah kills Wes and from that point forward it's mostly Jesse and gourd um but then gourd is also killed by Ethan so Jesse really really really goes through it over these next 200 years doesn't he and he deserves it he's is a shitty boyfriend speaking of I want to talk about his relationship with Sarah in my opinion I feel like Jesse actually really did like Sarah and wanted to be in a relationship with her but he also manipulated her into being what he wanted instead of accepting her for who she truly was it's very clear that Sarah did not want to be a vampire but Jesse didn't really respect her wishes and turned her into one anyways he lured her in with his Edward cullin Ms and tried to get her to join his weird vampire cult thing but when she refused and tried to escape it really seemed to like mess with him a little bit at least to me I can see that in the season 1 finale to me it's clear that Jesse had done this exact same thing to many other girls in the past and it had worked but I think Sarah's refusal intrigued him a little bit and got him to try and chase her which is what I think the season 1 finale is is when he gets accidentally resurrected by Ethan and Benny after they killed him he tries to get Sarah to join him and he was basically asking her to spend eternity with him as a couple it seems like when Sarah refused him he got pretty upset and then like after she tried to double cross him he decided to just run away and do as much chaos as possible after getting his feelings hurt that's how I've always interpreted the scene this causing as much chaos as possible is um him biting Ethan and almost turning him into a vampire which causes Sarah to save his life which turns her fully into a vampire dude it's so crazy to see this show was amazing I can't believe it it's almost like he knew it was in Sarah's nature to save people and he kind of wanted to get back at her and get under her skin and this was the perfect way to do it cuz she was refusing to be a vampire so he was like really you don't want to be a vampire well let me do this and we'll see what you think about after that and then she immediately does exactly what he thought she would do such a great show and then like I said Jesse doesn't return into the season 2 finale which provides a lot more lore and information but we'll talk about that when we get to season 2 cuz that's its own Beast entirely I want to talk about the lore now get your maab lore books out everybody cuz we're going to be spitting some straight lore for you guys guys we're going to talk more about Fanon when we get to talking about the fandom because there's a lot of Fanon to get into so for now we're just going to cover what is concretely known and explain away what doesn't make sense with my own personal head cannons I love hearing what people have to say about this show since there's a lot left up to interpretation so go ahead and leave your own personal hot takes opinions whatever about the lore in the comments below if you disagree with anything I say in this section then be sure to tell me be sure to let me know as previously stated Jesse is a priest and it's unknown whether he was turned after becoming a priest or before same thing with the town like we don't know which came first so for the sake of Revy let's just say he was turned soon before starting his colony and was a priest before and then established the town of Black's Church very soon after again there's something very interesting about a pastor a person who's committed themselves to Catholicism being turned into into an actual spawn of Satan and then the crosswires in his brain leading him to become this Twisted sex cult leader of vampires who praise the word of God yet must also feed on local towns people to survive but the show is never going to do anything interesting with that concept so we're just going to have to get over it I mean the main reason why Jesse and his little vampire flock as he calls them were kicked out and burned alive is because they were probably not feeding on people in an efficient way I'm assuming back then we were average ing one human per vampire which could easily wipe out an entire Colony so no wonder they were seen as such a nuisance nowadays you can just take a little nibble out of a human and then you know they're perfectly fine and alive but considering it was so scarce back in the day you would have to like kill an entire person just to get your sustenance also blood bags and blood secret delivery people and vampire restaurants which also exist in this universe did not exist back then I'm going to assume so I think vampires are a lot more eco-friendly now that is if we're averaging one human per vampire feeding time especially at the same time as like not proper Plumbing or hospitals and stuff I don't know my high school skipped over the 19th century entirely and just went straight to World War I so we're going to save most of the Season 2 lore bits from when we talk about season 2 especially but I will be mentioning some things that are mentioned during that season but the finale specifically we're going to talk about later so finale lore stuff is going to have its own section vampires are probably the most important creatures to mention first so let's start there to become a vampire a person first must be bitten on the neck or wrist although I'm assuming any major vein would work just as well in which they become a fledgling a sort of half vampire from what I can tell the only thing that makes a fledgling different from a normal vampire is that they can't fly it's also not clear on the whole mirror thing when it comes to fledglings versus vampires since in the movie in season 1 we really only see Sarah in a mirror or a photo and she flickers when she's in those but she is a fledgling during that time we never see Rory or Erica who are full vampires in photos or in front of a mirror during those first two parts of the series but in season 2 whenever we see someone in a mirror or on camera they're completely gone so I'm just going to assume it's a fledgling thing and not them just changing the rules at the start of season 2 when they maybe got a higher CGI budget also in the movie Rory is just fully on camera for no reason so they really fumbled the bag on that one I'll just pretend they didn't see it guys don't worry according to Sarah in the movie a fledgling has 28 days to drink human blood thus completing the transformation and if they don't they'll die it's then explained in season too that vampires have a sort of inner Dark Energy within them that keeps their bodies alive and it's unclear whether they still retain their souls or not after fully turning characters will refer to vampires as soulless Undead creatures of the night and when Sarah kills when in the movie she describes to Benny and Ethan that he didn't die technically since he was already Undead but that he went to a limbo for Souls as she calls it so it can be theorized that there are some dark energy that takes the place place of their soul or at least covers their soul which allows them to roam the Mortal plane but they still personality and state of being while still being dead it's described that vampires have a Venom which turns a person when they bite them and it seems that the only way a person can be saved from being turned is for another vampire to drink their blood before it enters their entire bloodstream this concept is very common amongst vampire media but they never explain it in the show when it happens so I can see people being confused when Ethan gets saved by Sarah drinking his blood if you haven't seen previous vampire IPS like Twilight They Don't Really hold your hand or explain the rules and regulations they just kind of appear when they do and then they pretty consistently stick to those rules unless there's errors but again we won't talk about those only briefly do they mention Venom so I don't know how much detail to describe in that element I think most of this I've made up on my own because a lot of this is mentioned through oneoff lines and quick moments like I said they don't explain much they're too busy fighting toilet Gators baby they don't have time to explain the lore also the whole Dark Energy stuff is season 2 lore by the way just wanted to let you know um they started mentioning that in season 2 to build up to the whole lucifractor prop line which I literally can't get into right now so we'll talk about later so just know that magical beings have a sort of hatred for vampires which fair enough so they've created an element that can kill a vampire by you know absorbing I guess its Dark Energy the loose refractor is able to harness such energy if that makes sense I guess this dark energy is admitted into the bloodstream through the Venom so there you go by the way if I can go on a tangent real quick I see a lot of people saying when Ethan is about to get turned into a vampire and then Sarah has to drink his blood to save his life that's turning her into a full vampire and no longer a fledgling I see a lot of people saying Erica was right there how come she didn't drink his blood and I'm like you guys you need to realistically think about this okay one it was always intended I'm assuming that by the end of season 1 Sarah would become a full vampire it was kind of ridiculous that she spent the entirety of season 1 not being a full vampire and two in my personal opinion I don't think Erica would have really wanted to save Ethan's life from being honest I mean I know it was a spur of the moment thing so she didn't really have time to like think it through but Erica loves being a vampire so much that I wouldn't be surprised if in an in the moment situation like that she wouldn't just kind of let it happen and be like whoops you know maybe that's just me though maybe Sarah immediately ran to do it and Erica didn't stop her because Erica wants Sarah to be a full vampire too so this is kind of like a perfect situation like okay Ethan's not a Vampire Sarah is a full vampire so it's like why would she stop Sarah and be like no let me do it like the entire season she's been trying to kind of force Sarah to live this full Vamp lifestyle that she doesn't want to live so to me it makes all the sense in the world that she would let Sarah do it all and then have that whole plot line be finished off at least that's my opinion anyways back to the lore like I said earlier even though they don't go too deep into it an underlying theme of the show especially in season 2 is that magical beings like spell Masters and Earth priests or whatever they're called do not like vampires all that much and kind of see them as freaks of nature I think the reason why vampires as a whole in media have been characterized as super Emos because they've kind of been hated by every other form of movie monster that exists werewolves are the most popular one and you know werewolves do exist in my bath but they're not reoccurring enough for that to be like super involved I mean I guess werewolves can be either like classic movie monster ginormous wolf type of beings or they can be cute fluffy dogs depending on what joke they want to tell Grandma Weir describes in other episodes how there's a balance that must be maintained in the world and how things that upset the balance could cause an equal and opposite reaction Evelyn said this in reference to Benny wanting to [ __ ] every high school girl in exist dist but I think this definitely applies to the ending of the show as well Stern takes over the town because of the intense uptick and vampires in Jesse's wake but I'm getting ahead of myself as for rules regarding full vampires all of the most stereotypical rules do apply and I think that's done both for novelty as well as to make the series seem like a more legitimate vampire show I can't say this line it's I like it but I just can't say it I can see the riders in their houses now slouched over in their recliners Watching Twilight with their girlfriends or something screaming and throwing pillows at the TV as Edward is nothing like a bellosi style movie monster and is basically just an immortal sparkly cannibal putting pen to paper ready to bring their hot takes to the writer's room the next day vampires are Immortal and self-regenerate the only evidence we see on screen of vampires regenerating is quick moments with Rory where he describes how he had lost a few fingers also Erica does stab him so I guess that's important to remember as well it's not even like an intense stabbing it's like a light stab you know so even though they don't show it cuz this is a kid show uh you could shoot a vampire and they would heal from it in this series don't know why you would need to actually a lot of problems in this show would be solved if uh they were allowed to have guns not saying that I want them to have guns though this is a Canadian show though so they probably wouldn't have guns in the first place I've become Americanized the characters are supposed to be immortal but they were played by actual teenage actors so they aged rapidly between the movie and Seasons so I won't blame the show for that I commend them for not hiring adults to play their High School aged characters plus they don't get old enough to look unrealistic in my opinion like Cameron Kennedy looks extremely different from the movie to season 1 to season 2 but he looks like a 15-year-old in all iterations so it's not that upsetting but I think the actors portrayal it a lot to Aid in that vampires also seem to be cured of all human ailments like poor vision asthma most likely any illnesses I find it very funny actually that Cameron Kennedy actually does need glasses to see in real life and played a character on the show that used to need them but no longer does so we had to wear contacts when filming or just be BL BL on set it's beautiful Shakespearean even her are we know as the vampires weaknesses holy water garlic the sun kind of and being staked in the heart with something wooden with holy water which was probably the worst thing for Jesse to deal with as a vampire Pastor is does burn their skin and if they were to be like dunked in a vat of it they would you know fizzle Into Thin Air rip to my man gourd I should also mention that veran technically is a weakness to vampires too but it's only shown once as a gag in a single episode so I guess it's not that important to remember as for the sun close contact does seem to harm vampires but it doesn't seem to outright kill them I know I said would mention Fannon a little bit later on but me and my fellow podcast buddies have come to the conclusion that vampires used to be harmed by the sun like they couldn't go out during the day at all but over time they've slowly become immune to such things so now the sun just slightly harms them like it would for a ginger maybe like they wear sunglasses they have to sunscreen up but as long as they're not you know literally in front of a heat lamp their skin won't peel like in season 2 episode 2 where Lucia is attempting to have the sun swallow the earth I don't know how that would work but she tries to do that as the sun is getting closer to the Earth the vampires being out in the sun actively does harm them more to the point where they have to cover head to toe to not be harmed by the sun rays except for Rory but again they just keep forgetting that Rory's a vampire in certain moments we have to move on the inclusion of garlic being a weakness is definitely one of my least favorites like Ethan and Benny throw a goddamn pizza at wind and it literally burns his skin I can't even fathom how stupid that is I always assumed that vampires don't like garlic thing came from the fact that garlic is a blood thinner so they're not actually harmed by garlic they just don't like it because it makes blood worse somehow but no in this series Papa John's garlic sauce can literally kill somebody instead of just give them horrible bowel movements I don't know I'm going to cut that part out that's not funny the vampire superpowers of sorts include the already mentioned flight super strength speed scent and possibly hearing although I'm not sure that was ever mentioned I always wondered if what a vampire feeds on in this universe changes how powerful they are or not because in multiple times during season 2 we see that Rory responds to things like sent after Sarah does because at this point in the story Sarah is a full vampire who drinks from blood bags who are delivered to her and Roy still feeds on animal blood such as small erodents and such so it always made me wonder if Rory's powers are weakened because he doesn't drink human blood or something or if this is just like a common writing dynamic they just put in multiple episodes back to back on accident maybe Rory is just not as strong as them when it comes to that kind of stuff but it doesn't really matter because he is the most pacifist vampire to ever exist even when he's under a siren's spell he can't even bring himself to hurt anybody and just has to go off screen and like bite some electrical cords versus Erica who tries to kill her besy and girlfriend quite intense but let's now talk about how someone becomes a vampire a little bit more in this universe in my personal opinion along with the opinion of multiple maav experts because yes there are a lot of them out there in this show biting someone to drink their blood and biting someone to turn them are two distinct and separate things it only seems to differ on what the perpetuators intentions are many franchises have this not being the case like in Twilight where if you attack someone and drink their blood they will die or be turned if they survive however in The Vampire Diaries a vampire can drink somebody else's blood and not have it affect their mortality at all unless they like maim them or something in VPD a person only gets turned if they die and have vampire blood in their system then have to drink human blood after 24 hours and if they don't they just actually die like normal Just for future reference I only really reference Twilight or The Vampire Diaries when talking about vampire IPS because they're the only ones I've ever seen I'm not a vampire expert just a maab expert to make that clear situations like this get confusing when you consider the fact that Rory was bit twice in one night when he first meets up with the nerdy twinks he shows off that he's been bitten and he thinks that some girl just gave him a hickey when she did in fact drink his blood and then Erica drinks his blood for the first time which turns her into a full vampire and then offscreen 12 hours later we find out that Rory himself has also drank somebody else's Blood also they keep saying that like all you have to do is kill one person to become a vampire but like Erica drank Rory's blood and he didn't die they assumed he had died because he got his blood drank but clearly he got his blood drinking from twice in one night and he was doing just fine so it's a bit confusing because I always assumed the first time he got bit was to turn him into a fledgling and the second time was just to drink his blood but that would mean that he was already a fledgling when Erica drank his blood so that clearly can't be the case also Jesse made it very clear that drinking must follow initiation and it's a very ritualistic thing for him so fledglings have to drink first and they all do it at midnight like it's a big event they do so someone must have gone against the rules to to drink Rory's blood in this situation and then ER must have just accidentally turned him into a fledgling by drinking his blood like she did both because you can do both you can do one or the other or both at the same time because we see when Jesse bites Ethan which these are really the only two times we see someone get bitten on screen and of course they do cut away from it but like the action is happening instead of just being told instead of just being told that it was happening when Jesse bites Ethan he doesn't drink his blood specifically he just bites him to administer the Venom I guess I saw a Theory online that fledglings in this show don't have the option to produce Venom so they can't turn other people into vampires which would completely ruin my case and how Roy became a dang vampire in the first place unless completely offscreen he got bitten in a third time and this time it was to turn him into a fledgling and then he became a vampire afterwards Rory's the only time they mess up the lore man I don't know what it is but that confusion aside it actually is pretty clear that there is a difference between drinking someone's blood just to drink their blood and then biting someone to turn them people just don't like to pay attention to this show because they think it's a dumb Children's Program and I disagree this show is important godamn it anyways enough about vampires let's talk about the magic system now this segment was actually the first part I ever wrote for this script a little uh behind the scenes info on Halloween night I decided I wanted to make this video so I sat down and I wrote this whole Magic system section out as well as a little bit of some other parts that we've read previously so whenever this video comes out just know I've been working on it consistently almost every day since Halloween the previous year so there's a little there's a little timeline for you I guess in the the movie It's dropped very casually in the third act that Benny and his grandmother are practicing wicens and when we see his house later on it's covered in all this cool witchy memorabilia around the place so it just makes me wonder how this was explained away before the big reveal that Benny could do magic like did he just think his grandmother was like a Halloween Town Stan or something and when I say they wicens that's not entirely true in an article published by Teleton where they interviewed Tim Burns he stated vaguely that the magic system in maab was based off of Wiccan culture which could possibly mean that that's where some of the imagery and some ideology comes from personally I know close to nothing about wicking culture so I'm not saying any of this is good representation of The Craft at all or is even representation at all I'm just sharing what the creators originally stated as their inspiration the magic system is actually quite interesting it has a lot to do with the balance of nature and elements like I said earlier but Benny is a nerd who loves science fiction and Star Wars so it seems like he doesn't get any of it at all and Benny is pretty bad at Magic for the entirety of season 1 he can only do small appearance spells and the narrative generally doesn't do much with the fact that you know he can do magic that's one of my biggest problems with season 1 as a whole while there is a lot of fun villains and the episodes are a lot more memorable in season 2s there's a lot of missed opportunities when it comes to the magical abilities of the main cast now I probably wouldn't even be complaining about this at all if the show had continued into a third season since the series was clearly aiming for a slow development over multiple seasons for these characters but since season 2 is all we got I can only judge the material on what was given to us season 1 has a lot of uncreative problem solving in my opinion a lot of generic conclusions usually lead to Sarah punching their way to Victory like I mentioned earlier and don't get me wrong I love watching Benny fail miserably and watching strong girls punch things as much as the next guy but after a few episodes it would be nice to see the show use these characters magical abilities to save the day a little bit more often same goes for Ethan I feel like they don't use his Visions as much as they should season 2 does see more of Benny's magical skills develop in a way that I think proves that the show planned to do more with it same goes for Ethan's sear Powers but season 2 talk about it later so the status quo of magic was very vague at best and mostly confusing they never explain if new spells can be made and if they are they could be set in English considering every single spell said is in Latin and by Latin I mean random Latin sounding phrases said quite awkwardly and I'm assuming does not translate into anything vaguely like a sentence would be it seems like Evelyn is talented enough to where she doesn't even need to say spells she can just kind of point and do things but Benny is just barely starting to understand the whole spells thing and it doesn't really seem like she's teaching him how to be a wizard or whatever or training him he's just kind of [ __ ] around with this book that she gave him but we actually do start to see him become better at Magic doing when he does do magic for example multiple times in season 1 he'd be like I'm going to do a spell to prove this is going to happen and then when he would do the spell nothing would happen and then they would have to just find another solution very quickly cuz the episode was about to end and we still see some of that in season two but he gets a lot more wins than loses in this time for example he attempts a spell to knock somebody out and he does it completely on the Fly and it actually works and even Benny himself is like I can't believe I actually was able to say successfully do a spell and so of course he becomes very power hungry and then abuses this power but you know that's just classic Benny they also give him like slightly more power by him being able to do these like random magic blasts that like cause harm to people I don't know basically this form of magical longdistance combat that I'm assuming they would have had him use a little bit more often his success rate with potions seems to be higher than with at the moment magic spells he made a jock potion that actually effectively did cause the creature it got possessed with to become really strong and adaptable that happened to be an alligator from Florida but that's besides the point and the Love Potion worked the Love Potion did in fact work but I would like to block the memory of the love love potion out of my mind so we're just going to move on overall I do do wish that they would have given Benny a little bit more magical room to play in I mean he has no magical abilities whatsoever in the movie not to the Final Act and even in the Final Act the first spell he ever does is to make his book disappear so he does no magic at all season one mostly shows him losing and season two gives him half loses and half wins so I'm assuming season 3 would have been like fullon magic action which I would have really liked to see but another character whose abilities evolve throughout time is Ethan we won't talk about what his abilities evolve into until a little bit later season 2 discussion I've I've said this a million times for now let's just talk about what Ethan's SE abilities actually are from what we know them to be which is the same as Benny's magic confusing and vague so Ethan's Visions occur when he comes in contact with the supernatural it can be any kind of personlike creature like werewolves or vampires or simple objects like magical potions and inanimate objects entirely it's mainly whatever foe they're facing against for the most part and there are many episodes where Ethan actually won't get any Visions because he can't come in contact with the villain like in the Halloween episode or with the toilet Gator one I seem to mention that one a lot his Visions are between being very vague and extremely detailed it honestly matters on what the plot demands it's funny because when people talk about Ethan's Visions it's more on the line of the fact that he is a seer in the traditional sense like what people understand a Seer to be outside of this show like yes Ethan is plagued with visions and sees demons and stuff but never in a truly psychological manner at least not yet he strictly just gets Visions from the supernatural based on what's happening at the time so like he'll only get Visions from Sarah if something important is happening in her life I guess like he can hold her hand and you know hug her and stuff on average days and it be normal but then one day randomly he'll just get a vision from her and it's like oh she's really going through something right now it's actually a little bit more like that so raven than it is the six sense if that makes sense either way his Visions will vary from blurry images of fruit to full HD scenes of characters doing actions that hint at the future they'll hint at the thingies in acting with or point to the future I really like that Ethan is a Seer personally I mentioned it earlier like I said earlier it gives him the role of leader in the group and I think it works out pretty well it also might be because he is like the smartest one of the group if you were to talk on that binary sense cuz when there are temptresses and spells and stuff they seem to wear off faster with Ethan the second episode of season 2 is a good example there is a goddess goddess is that her name no is a queen sorry there is a queen of sorts named Luccia that has come over and is able to mind control all the boys but you can see it slowly start to wear off on Ethan over time a lot faster than it does for everyone else and when he does come in contact with Lucia at the very end it immediately snaps him out of his trance that he was in while everyone else stays the same so I think his six sense provides him to fall less for such trickery I guess another example is in the mirror ghost episode a ghost haunts a mirror and they appear as someone's reflection and then talk to them through their own voice and so then leading the person to do whatever the ghost wants them to because they think they're just telling themselves these things when it's really some evil being this ghost tries to do this to Ethan but he immediately notices that something's weird and then he gets brought into the mirror but that's besides the point either way if it proves that Ethan does have a lot more mind about him when it comes to these things and is actually a lot more levelheaded and trustworthy compared to everyone else this will come back around later so there's the lore segment like I said a lot of this stuff is either head cannons or just well-known assumptions in the fandom uh that term is actually Fannon so fan interpreted Canon that in some ways can even become official Canon over time or be misconstrued as being real Canon because it becomes so ubiquitous in the fandom Let's uh let's talk about the fandom [Music] now I now want to go in depth about the video games made from my babysitters of vampire while it was on the air if you don't care and want to hear me talk about season 2 then just feel free to skip all of this so around 2016 I don't really remember the timeline exactly I got a really shitty tablet for Christmas I think my grandma went Black Friday shopping and just found like a $50 tablet and decided to get it for me I was really appreciative but the thing really didn't work and I just put it in a Cupboard after trying to use it for a few days I'm not too sure when this was I'm just going to assume 2016 but it could be before that because I have the official my babysitters of vampire mobile game still installed on it I don't know how many other people have a working copy of the maab game still available to play because very soon after I installed the game on this tablet I'm pretty sure it was removed from the App Store and play store without warning so as an active member of the maab fandom I decided to get my podcast buddy s to play the game for me because I am very [ __ ] at video games I couldn't even get past the first level when I was in Middle School I tried my best to film the game play but I was having some difficulty with it so apologies if the footage doesn't look too good the game crashed when it was the only tab open on the device so I'm assuming trying to screen record it would have been out of the question since the game had some very interesting creative direction we just assumed that the game was made by a third party company and had maybe seen the movie and made character designs off that premise exclusively maybe Teleton had sent in some photo references but a lot of the very specific elements didn't really seem to match with the show at all but no after checking the company's Vimeo page of all things we found a bunch of behind the- scenes clips of how they made the game a lot of it does still feel pretty out of character for the cast like their outfits and their action movements as well as what side they're on in the game but if the development team had more involvement in those elements than the network did then I can see how that could end up happening there's a lot more footage of the desktop game available on Tumblr from blogs of the time most of the liveaction assets of the game are not available on the mobile version the video game company's Vimeo page had a video of The Game Dev for the original desktop version of humans versus monsters I'd always known about this game's Original start as a website game but what I didn't know is that it was the first original interactive experience made with Teleton by secret location for the maav movie update by the way I wrote this script quite a long time ago and thean is not called secret location anymore so just wanted to make that clear when the m movie came out there was originally a fake dusk themed Website Layout that stitched together fake promo footage along with real footage of people at a Twilight premiere showing and edited it to seem like they were in the maab universe talking about dusk crazy marketing really there was an element where you would show up to a screening and the actor who played Jesse would be there and he would ask you if you're were a team human or team vampire and there would be two different outcomes based on which one you selected and at the end you would get a prompt to get an email reminder about the upcoming game humans versus vampires while season 1 was airing the official game was launched and was available on teletom website kind of like what Disney Channel and Nickelodeon did for their respective shows as well it came out in that weird limbo where 5 years ago it would have been like shovelware DS Wii game and nowadays it would just exclusively be a mobile app but it was that weird in between time where website games were like where it was at which is why the video game then did get converted into a mobile game once season 2 aired you could play on the human side or the vampire side and a tally would be kept for every win you and everyone else would get for your Collective side the game is your standard beat them up similar to Mortal Kombat but with the characters in myath they added more characters once season 2 aired as well but season 1 is clearly where the game was at its peak apparently the tally kept for each side was going to affect the Airing of the season 1 finale based on which side had more wins the human side or the vampire side This Game Dev promises a secret ending based on which side of the video game wins for the season 1 finale but I'm pretty sure that doesn't exist trust me me and my podcast buddies did a lot of research on this and went a little insane trying to figure this out I'm still not sure if that clip of Jesse getting banished by the vampire Council was in fact the secret ending that was the team human winning or not or if on telet tune they just cut part of the season 1 finale out and aired that as being like see secret ending and then all future releases of the show would just have the entire finale I still am quite not sure what I am sure about is that we spent hours making this creepy conspiracy board trying to figure out what the [ __ ] this [Music] meant [Applause] [Music] we were going to make a separate video on this but once we figured out that there was no actual secret material we just kind of we just kind of moved on if anyone does want to see us explain this weird conspiracy board then let us know and we'll make it we'll make it a video we'll talk about it on the podcast but besides all that the game is a fascinating exploration of monotony your the mobile game is nothing original at all while I thought you could unlock new characters through gameplay when I was younger apparently I was completely wrong the app from launch had the feature where you had to pay money to unlock more than just two basic characters from each side to play as so s was able to beat the entire game very quickly and the servers for this game have been down for years now so so there's no way for us to get to be able to play other characters other than Ethan and Jesse I might upload some of this footage separately since there's pretty much no footage of gameplay from this app anywhere on the internet there was also a Disney Channel website game from what I understand but I haven't played it yet so I don't have much to say on it shout out to the person who got this game to work because Flash is down uh maybe I will play it soon and update this section of the video before it comes out either way I hope everyone enjoyed this uh this little side tangent this little intermission if you will before we get into the serious business which is the season 2 [Music] finale can you guys see my baby my sweet baby right there you hear any jangling that's him uh getting more comfortable so last minute I decided that I was going to record this part live um it's going to be a little bit hard for me to deal with because I'm not used to being on camera I'm not really the performative type but here I am face to the name I guess I've attempted to record videos like these before but I hate looking at myself while editing so if I look weird at all during this just know that I have turned off the camera and I'm just not paying attention to how I look when I edit because I know in reality I'll look however I look and that doesn't really matter at the end of the day but when editing I can't help but just like not be okay with it like I don't think as humans were meant to look at each other that particular like you know to the degree so I'm just not going to look at myself when I edit I'm not looking at this footage at all so if I look weird that's not my fault that's yours the main reason why I wanted to talk about the fandom in a sort of more casual format is because I had a scripted segment written and then I realized that I wasn't a big fan of um of the script itself and so for this section and going forward I'm going to be on camera so I hope this isn't like a weird shift halfway through the video I have my notes written down in this notebook ignore the sticky note cuz I can't find my other notebooks I would say that the maab fandom has really rooted itself in Tumblr which is a website where fandoms go to die so maav blur as it's been called which phonetically is awful to say but you know written out it looks cool maab blur is where I've observed most fandom culture and I've participated in myself I want to make that clear I would say a year or two ago when I thought of the the idea of being a YouTuber and making YouTube videos I wanted to approach making a video about maab from a more like cynical angle if that makes sense I basically wanted to just pretend that I was an outsid or looking in and that I wasn't you know fully involved myself um but then over the years I really I really uh got all my [ __ ] and really started actively following a lot of people who post BMA bab and care about it so I've kind of become one with the fandom if that makes sense and I've been having a lot of fun doing so so I think embracing fandom culture is really important for us going forward so I hope everyone understands that I know the fandom does exist on other social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter but I would say that Tumblr is like really where it's at but of course that's just my own personal bias if you are a part of like a community of maab fans on a different social media then let me know it goes a lot more deeper than that of course since the fandom is big on Tumblr all of the classic tumblrisms are available there I think the reason why I like talking about maab so much not only because I'm obsessed but because it actually does embody and hold a lot of things that were very common in the early 2010s like it's a perfect example of all of these things you know what I mean if that makes any sense for example the fan discourse is basically every single Tumblr fan discourse you've ever seen just smooshed into one fandom and uh I feel a little bit nervous talking about this now because since it is such a small fandom and a very tight-knit Community uh I don't want to call anyone out in specific uh because you know I interact with these people on a daily basis so the last thing I want to do is make anyone feel weird for liking or sharing what they want to share you know at the end of the day all of this is very silly if that makes sense I mean it is serious and it should be taken seriously especially when you know real allegations of harm come into play but in general I don't want anyone to think that I'm attacking them or their beliefs because that doesn't seem like a fun thing to do and I don't really feel like engaging in that kind of discourse so I'll just make that clear going forward even though at the end of the day this is not that serious um but I just I don't want to be uh doxed in a few days because of what I say not that the maab community would ever do something like that um I just want to be nice okay I get very self-conscious when I'm in controversy so please please take this all with a grain of salt since people on Tumblr engage in a sort of culture of their own a lot of maab media in general has been very queer a lot of the LGBT community has been involved in the maab fandom I would argue that almost everybody who was a fan of maab is also gay not speaking for myself of course um and not speaking for everybody but that seems to be the case considering basically every popular ship and any popular discourse that happens I think a lot of neurod Divergent and queer people really see themselves in the show and are able to find a new beautiful meaning within it it's nice to see that common shows that maybe didn't intend to provide representation are providing representation nonetheless and that people see themselves in popular characters I mean I wish things were outright stated instead of just being ambiguous but from a show from 2009 this is the best you can expect I wouldn't be surprised if the uh the show becomes a lot more bigger in that sense maybe a few more people get involved in the fandom because the uh Nostalgia circuit might circle around back again although who knows because the show got taken off of [ __ ] Netflix and I feel like people watching the show casually as it appeared in their Netflix recommended is what kept the show being found by new people and now that that's pretty much not the case at all it seems like the show might be closer to being forgotten now that a popular streaming service does not have access to it I mean yes the first season in the movie on Roku Channel but season 2 is becoming less and less easy to find as time goes on now we all know you wouldn't download a car but since the show is long past ever getting a Revival I would recommend just watching the show in any way that you can whichever is most accessible to you because I really do think the show is worth remembering and I think people should watch it if they've never heard of it before even if I spoiled everything in this video I still think you should go back and watch it because videos like these can never fully Encompass what watching the show feels like so just go watch it anyways most of the fans had been discouraged by the show's cancellation which trust me we'll talk about we're going to talk about that so the fandom didn't go dormant necessarily but had a lull and I would say now people are you know starting to create more fan blogs starting to engage in the fandom a little bit more maybe because they're feeling nostalgic for that sort of 20 T 2000's era of culture so them aad fandoms a lot of people who are around my age you know older gen Z kids who just kind of swap AO3 fanfic links and gift sets with one another but of course that doesn't mean that there is a lack of uh of a drama happening every once in a while it doesn't happen as often it's very rare but I think it's very fascinating which is why I want to talk about it but again I'm not talking about anyone in specific just want to make make that clear I would say the biggest controversy surrounds the shipping culture between the characters in the show the biggest ship was always Bean so the characters of Benny and Ethan together which if you watched the show is very obvious and common since the show did have an active fandom on the early 2010s era of Tumblr the same issues you notice in other fandoms become evident in the maab fandom a lot of people really liked be and only really cared about the two white boy main characters which there's nothing wrong with obviously but you see a lot of people not really caring about Sarah who was also a main character and kind of pushing her to the side or outright not liking her at all a lot of people didn't really like Sarah all that much in the early eras of the fandom for reasons that seem kind of weird they seem a little suspicious basically some people uh portrayed some interesting forms of racism among the fandom it was never too prevalent especially because Sarah's a main character so it wasn't de you know extreme in my opinion I think a lot of fans in the early days loved to focus on the two white boy main leads which there's nothing wrong with but really tended to ignore Sarah in a ways that I don't think people understood until recent years you see this a lot where minority characters and shows are just favor less than the white boy leads and I would say only now the character of Sarah is getting her flowers if that makes sense people really do like Sarah a lot now but I feel like back then you wouldn't really see as much talking about her I guess my biggest example of this is that when you look at the tags on Tumblr Sarah's seems to be the least popular which doesn't really seem like anything that big of a deal until you really think about it I guess maybe I'm thinking too much into it actually but I don't know I feel like there's a little bit of misogyny a little bit of racism in there like people just didn't want to care about Sarah as much even though again she's supposed to be one of the main characters she's supposed to be as important as Ethan and Benny are and the narrative itself doesn't support this either so I can understand it not really being a racism thing and more of just being because the show doesn't highlight her as much as the other characters but then when you factor in things like Erica being more popular than Sarah it just it just makes you think it just makes you think about those things again this is all just allegations but something to chew on I guess it was that classic Tumblr fandom thing that would happen where the fans would hate the one female who would get in the way of the two male ships being together so since ethera or sarahan whichever ship name you want to use since sarahan is almost confirmed to be true in the show uh a lot of people probably just didn't want to care about Sarah too much so they could focus on the bean and again fandom is so intertwined and interesting and interlined that it kind of becomes its own separate thing from the media itself so people really obsess over Bean in a way that the show didn't really like tie itself into you know versus when it comes to sarahan I would say it's exclusively because of Canon that people like this ship and that's also another point of contention I think sarahan or ethera is always going to be a controversial ship because of a few main factors one the whole bean thing which you can put aside because a lot of people nowadays uh don't hold that opinion anymore that like Sarah needs to get out of the way so bething can exist like you'll see a lot of jokes of people being like why can't they just be in a polycule which you know is fun which I mean is its own element of fan culture in itself but above all of that the the main issue that I think a lot of people might have with sarian is the actual context of the ship within the show itself the actual Cannon of it I think what many people are aware of right now is that Sarah is a vampire and Ethan is a human so she will forever stay 17 and he will get older now in general vampire and human relationships are always going to have an issue because of that aging thing coming into play but even outside of the fact that Sarah is going to be 17 forever and Ethan will get older which would basically Doom their relationship from the start besides all of that uh something we need to consider is what the character's ages are when the series starts in the movie it's pretty well stated that Sarah is 17 years old when she gets turned so she is 17 and Ethan Benny and Rory are entering their freshman year of high school at the beginning of the movie which would make them either 14 or 15 years old I think many people right now are probably getting a little bit weird out by that statement onto itself you're telling me Sarah starts out as a junior and then becomes a senior by the end of season 2 and Ethan starts as a freshman and becomes a sophomore throughout season 2 I think it's a very touchy subject to talk about in general because while their age Gap isn't that big the difference between a freshman and a senior is very like obvious to a lot of people I think a lot of people would agree that like there's a huge generational difference just in those four years so that's its own element onto itself not even touching on the fact that Ethan gets older throughout the show Sarah is still 17 by the end of season 2 but Ethan is probably somewhere between 15 and 16 by the end of season 2 that also adds an awkward element to it as well doesn't it I'm not going to throw any allegations out here from the writers but if they were planning on waiting to make sarian real if there was a season 3 or a season 4 so basically waiting until Ethan and Sarah were the same age for them to start officially dating yeah that's a little bit awkward uh to talk about in context but then again we'll never know because the show didn't get any more than two seasons so we can never see how the context of their relationship developed throughout the show plus I would say that the writers did a good job of portraying Ethan's crush on Sarah to be very like childlike I've seen people on the internet I just spittle I've seen a few people on the internet saying that Ethan's relationship and crush on Sarah feels a lot like the one in Gravity Falls between Dipper and Wendy another thing that Gravity Falls took from a b I'm just kidding first its audience and then the relationship Dynamic when will it end no that's just a joke I'm sorry in general the shipping between the show is very interesting see that's why I Champion eori the ship between Ethan and Rory they're both the same age and they're meant for each other let's move on from Canon ships within the show to Fannon so the main reason why I decided to record this besides what I said earlier is because I had a whole section where I ranted about one specific thing that became irrelevant so instead of just rewriting all of it I'm just spitting the [ __ ] up here what I was talking about earlier was the maab fan Wiki which was just riddled with not only typos but just errors in general and so I went in a whole little paragraph rant about that and how maab deserves a better fan Wiki which I still agree it does at least someone who will still act ly updated when changes happen I mean there's no new changes but still but then as I was writing that script and I went to go get the link for the fan Wiki to like site my sources the entire thing was changed and is different now the maab fan Wiki is now called the maab Fanon Wiki and it's specifically just somebody writing a fanfic through like the format of a fan Wiki so I guess I can't talk about that anymore I mean there is an older maab fan Wiki that existed while the show was running that I would still consider relatively okay to check out I mean there's still some errors here and there but they probably would have been fixed over time if any of the admins were still actively working on it but again there's no one if you run the maab fan Wicky shoot me an email and I will become the sole new admin and will fix everything with my immense knowledge it's the least you could do so I'm just going to talk about fan in in general there are a few elements of Fanon that I find very interesting for those who don't know act by the way Fanon stands for fan Cannon so that means things that fans have made up about the show that they've seen and have turned into their own personal Canon a big thing for this is the two female leads last names the only characters who get concurrent last names in the main cast are Ethan Benny and Rory Ethan is said pretty often throughout the show he's the Morgan household you know we see his family a lot we do hear Benny Weir throughout the show a few times but never enough to where like if you were a casual fan you probably wouldn't know off the top of your head and I always thought Rory was Fanon as well but apparently ly there is a blinko your miss it Easter egg in an episode in season 2 that does show his last name it's the same episode where his mom guest stars so I guess that makes sense that they kind of only thought to give him a last name when his mother becomes a character in the show but Erica and Sarah do not have last names whatsoever in the entire show so outside of the show people have made efforts to give the characters last names I can't find the source that proves this but many people have told me that Vanessa Morgan they actress who plays Sarah's character confirmed that she thinks Sarah's last name would be Fox so Sarah Fox so when you go to any sort of character listing you will see the name Sarah Fox even though that was never seated in the actual show itself and then for Erica I have no idea whatsoever how Jones became her last name but if you look up the character name on Google you'll see Erica Jones if anyone knows this this please let me know I've talked to like five separate maab fans and none of them know where Erica Jones came from at all I'm also introducing my own personal fan Theory which is that Sarah lives with her aunt because a common thing that people will notice when they watch the show is that Erica and Sarah just don't have family at all like we see Rory's mother once and we do hear Erica talk on the phone with her mom once but other than that like we have no location for them no nothing Sarah mentions her aunt once in the first episode and then family of hers is never mentioned ever again so I've just gone to say that she lives with her aunt yeah that's that's the best I can come up with she's basically Elina Gilbert at that point except hopefully Sarah's aunt won't die like Aunt Jenna no J is that a spoiler I'm sorry I'm sorry if I spoiled Vampire Diaries for you guys another huge element of Fanon for me personally that I think is like kind of crazy is the acronym for the show if you pay attention to the credits on the episodes you will see at the bottom it says mbv Productions and in all of the early fan stuff while the show was still running people used the acronym mbv to refer to the show in the show's wake people started using the term maav to refer to the show I don't know how or why this happened but I do think it's really funny it has to have the silly awkward to pronounce kind of kitschy name maav and bav and before I was really connected with the fandom I specifically used the term mbav so instead of My Babysitters a Vampire it was My Babysitters a Vampire which also makes no sense I've seen a few people use these interchangeably but maab seems to be the definitive acronym for the show now and again the writers did not intend this to be the case at all mbv does sound a lot cooler in retrospect but the show doesn't deserve that does it I guess that's everything I had to say about the fandom I didn't want to go too in depth because again doxing but there you go I think we're ready to talk about season 2 now now or the video game whichever I end up putting this in I'm still editing the video currently so this might end up going before the video game segment or after who knows see you in the next segment hello welcome we're finally at the point we've all been anticipating this entire video feel like my entire life has been building up to this exact moment there's a lot to discuss when talking about the season two finale uh almost too much so I won't go into everything specifically we haven't gotten to that point in our podcast yet where we talk about the season 2 finale but when we do get there trust me it'll be an in-depth discussion this is going to be as best as I can do off the top of my head because I have not written apart for this video I'm just winging it I thought that would be best for my mental health so there you go something you'll notice with a lot of myab fans is that they don't talk about the finale or the implications of the finale in any way whatsoever more often than not the Maad fandom will have not seen the finale that really surprises me personally because I've seen every episode of the show probably 20 times over but even the finale is something that I usually try to avoid genuinely I think I've only seen the finale like five times which I know sounds like a lot but considering I've seen every other episode like I said 20 30 times each uh that that's quite surprising sometimes I would even try to avoid watching season 2 entirely because it is very obvious that there is a slow buildup towards something bigger at the end and just even feeling that subtext and that foreshadowing would like really freak me out and then I would just stop watching so I guess that's the reason why season 2 isn't as well talked about compared to season 1 most people enjoy season 1 because of how simple it is andon season 2 just has diminishing returns we're being honest so the season 2 finale when it comes to a lore standpoint recontextualizes a lot of things we've already discussed the lore of the movie at nauseum I think but I'll give you a refresher in case you're watching this in Parts Jesse established the town of White Chapel back in the late 1800s most of his vampire cult ended up being killed by the local towns people who were mad about vampires existing and he [ __ ] off for 200 years comes back tries to take over the town again and fails because of two twinks it's pretty much established that it was a group of wizards or spell Masters that actually originally kicked the vampires out back in the 1800s the man who has elci fractor is related to the wizard you took down 200 years ago Sino family Revenge Sino what a shock how did you stop his super great grandfather my grandfather G Sino Gail Galen Sino I need [ __ ] captions on this [ __ ] man gal Sino would be so galin Sino all right whatever the [ __ ] that means so it seems to be implied that Jesse's original banishing from the town of White Chapel all the way back in the day was by a group of spell Masters or Wizards whatever the show decides to call the magic wielding people at the time considering by season 2 they just fully used the word wizard we're going to say wizard so the season 2 finale is officially when the show decides to let everyone know that Wizards and vampires have kind of always uh had beef with each other like I said in the lower segment that is because of a plethora of reasons but apparently this was a very important issue back in the day so the Sino family I think that's what they're called we only hear the name of the guy who invented the lucifractor like once or twice and I have no idea what the [ __ ] he's saying just going to say his name is galin Sino hope I got that right apparently Galen Sino or his uh group of wizards called the order very original name the order created the lucifractor which was able to harness the vampires Darkness energy or collect it and kill them so it's a way to kill vampires other than like this traditional Stak wielding stuff basically you can kill vampires from far distance which is a is a pretty powerful tool I will admit can I just say real quick that the lucifractor power isn't really all that much felt in the narrative in my opinion like yeah it can kill vampires but considering Ethan and Benny both have a kill count of like 10 when it comes to vampires I mean the lucifractor isn't all that powerful in comparison apparently at some point in time Jesse got a hold of the lucifractor and hit it so the order basically fell apart after that because their little McGuffin was the only thing they had apparently and all this time later vice principal Stern who is a part of the order and is the grandkid of Galen Sino decides to take the town back by finding the lucifractor and it's implied that when he started his job as vice principal at the beginning of season 2 that was all ploy to take over the town and rid the town of vampires actually he he does say he's going to take the town back but he never says he wants to be like some dictator mayor like ruler over the town it implies that he just doesn't like vampires and just wants all the vampires gone from White Chapel and then I don't know he'll just continue to live his life after that like I said earlier I've always liked that White Chapel is like a secret vampire town like everyone in the Supernatural underbelly of North America just kind of knows that White Chapel is like a place for vampires to hang out like it's pretty much safe for them to stay there in part because it was started by a vampire all the way back in the day and there's really no reason for a bunch of normies to be living there I mean I'm surprised vampire TV shows and modern day vampire media have not considered this more often like what's stopping a bunch of vampires from like starting a town or taking over a town and just kind of like living in their little secluded area I mean I know that's probably illegal in some sort of way but like everything about a vampire's existence in our modern day is illegal so so Jesse implies that the way he ended up defeating gayen Sino and got the lucifractor back was basically by killing him drinking all of his blood and draining him and then just like taking the lucifractor it seems that these Wizards are actually pretty easy to beat because he just kind of snuck up behind him and did it again like I said none of this is really talked about in The Mad fandom because people just refuse to watch the finale more multiple times over and you know what I don't blame them the only reason why I'm able to relay this information to you right now is because I sat down and I watched the finale with intention of relaying the information available in it to the audience I had not remembered gayin Sino in any way like throughout my life I just never thought about this plotline ever and for fair reason because a lot of the season 2 finale is just like info dumping like it would have been nice to get maybe like a little bit of information sprinkled throughout season 2 considering they were building up to the story line the entire time like from the very beginning stern was decided to be an evil wizard so maybe some lore elements being dropped would have been nice I think around this time children's networks were only starting to realize that children do like serialized storytelling shows like Wizards wly place which I have mentioned before in this video did take advantage of this and their later seasons in the show were heavily serialized multiple episode long arcs happened throughout that entire run and it makes me think that maab was planning on doing the exact same thing and this was a sort of test run to that like imagine if Wizards of wavily Place got cancelled after season 3 and the show just ended forever with them leaving a government facility in the desert and we just never know what happens to them I got to say that this finale is a really good Testament to the character work that has been done throughout these past two seasons because you really feel for these characters and they react correctly compared to who they are if that makes sense I think it's easy for a lot of shows Once they introduce more dramatic elements to kind of make every character the exact same or try to evenly distribute certain elements of mystery solving to each character to give them more time and it just doesn't they end up being out of character for a large portion of these story lines but truly the characters really do act like you would assume they would my best example of this is the character of Benny you really have to feel for him because it's really quite dramatic what ends up happening so Stern puts like a hex on Ethan so where he only sees dead people which has to be a six sense reference like it just has to be and when they try to get Grandma Weir to help them uh she ends up also being hexed and like it fully knocks her out like she's out of the count for the rest of the episode and Benny's reaction to this is just like genuinely heartbreaking his character has been established as somebody who who fears serious conversations so we'll constantly be inserting light-hearted jokes to try and lighten the mood of it so nothing gets too serious in reality this is his actual purpose within the show but within the metatext of the show it is actually who he is as a person it's very smart character work in my opinion so when Stern effectively takes down his grandma he just like freaks out and is like we need to defeat this guy he tries to cope the way he normally does and it just doesn't work they go after that good show them what the score is it can't be that hard the jackets are so ugly right like [ __ ] is way too serious all of a sudden out of nowhere again I think they should have maybe like softly led into being more dramatic again I do think they should have you know tried a little bit better to kind of like soft introduce the dramatic elements instead of just boom do it at the very end but then again they they were kind of of doing that in season 2 you can tell there's a big difference in tone between season 1 and season 2 just by the cam work in itself season 1 feels a lot like an episode of Goosebumps or something season 1 really does feel like goosebumps in that sense but there's a lot more horror elements and is appealing to a more like silly childish kind of spooky energy kind of like Halloween Town versus season 2 which is clearly trying to be more dramatic and is leaning more on like Vampire Diaries Teen Wolf style Showmanship like I said the camera work is a good example of this and also the fact that there was a lot less like scary elements within season 2 like there's a lot more drama instead of outright shock if that makes sense and again the show is PG so all of that is on a children's level but that is still clear to see when looking at the direction they were taking so it's only to be assumed that season 3 was going to be a lot more darker a lot more edgy a lot more tween oriented kind of like the show was attempting to grow up with its audience maybe become a little bit more uh serious if that makes sense so like I said earlier there's a lot of lore dumping and info dumping in the season 2 two-parter and that's because it's technically the a plot of the finale the other plot point of sorts is the sarian relationship so you know how I said earlier that sarian is pretty much a canon ship within the show this episode is why well the yes there has been some slight flirting some slight hints at maybe something happening the season 2 finale starts with Ethan deciding to ask out Sarah on a date and she agrees not in a oh finally I get to go out with this guy kind of way but in a why not I mean who cares really she has a conversation with Erica where it's basically like listen I'm going to be a vampire forever I'm going to live eternally this guy's going to grow up and die one day and I'm still going to be here the same as always so I might as well go on a date with with the guy you know spend as much time with him as possible before he disappears but for Ethan this is a very real and serious moment for him and is basically and their date is basically ruined by the whole you know lucifractor plot line coming in so part one is mostly about the Saran romance and part two is mostly about the lore lucifractor stuff personally I think these two story elements should not have been mixed together while I do like the idea of the Fang Gang possibly being ripped part not only because of like inter TMO drama but also because like you know there's a magical thing that can kill vampires now while I like that I will admit that the lucifractor story line still needs more time than it's given it's basically only given one episode of storyline when it really needs more same thing with the sarahan plot line I feel like that could deserve its own time on its own I guess the best way for the show to kind of dip its toes in story lines that are more serialized would be to do the sarapan plot line as maybe a one two-parter before the finale and then have the finale be its own to parter in itself that would technically make the show a four-part series which you know probably wouldn't work too well when it comes to like airing it on TV and such but I think it could work out I think they could have made it work because the lucifractor storyline genuinely just feels like it's shoved in here last minute even though clearly it was something that had been planning and written out for the entirety of season 2 basically it's an entire movie's worth of content in like a 22-minute episode this has as much meat as the movies plotline does but the movie is like an hour but the movie is like 90 minutes long and this is only like 40 minutes at best and the poor sth and stuff is just it's just not resolved because it was supposed to be continued on to the season 3 premiere their date goes horribly because you know lucifractor and then in part two they basically are like wow can't believe we did that and like insult each other on accident and then that's basically where it gets dropped and there's no conclusion after that so here's the thing I already talked about how controversial sarian could possibly leave from a fandom perspective but within the context of the show what does that mean for going forward if they were actually planning on making Sarah and Ethan boyfriend and girlfriend or girlfriend and girlfriend depending how you read it then what does that mean for the context of everything before then like I said earlier the show did a good job of properly only portraying Sarah's interest in Ethan as silly and playful I mean she is his babysitter so to a certain degree it's like I don't really see you in that way and that seems to be the case even when she says yes to a date with him so a possibility of Ethan and Sarah actually dating might be kind of weird unlike many shows from that era of children's television it seems like the writers weren't adverse to having ships within their show like all of the Disney Channel marketing around this show like heavily pushed the fact that saran would be a plotline in this season and for the most part it's not up until the very end but every episode when there was like a slight mention or like nod to the fact of them being in a couple or the fact that Ethan liked Sarah it was heavily promoted in the trailers like that was what the main point of the series was going to be and like I said since Sarah's feelings for Ethan never change past like a I'm friends with you kind of way I really don't see them actually dating past this point like they go on a date yes and then maybe there's some awkward relationship issues after that but I think the narrative would have gone back to them just being being friends but genuinely the way they portrayed Sarah's affection towards Ethan doesn't seem romantic in any way in my opinion so while I do like the idea of them being together and I think it's a good ship overall um I don't think it would ever actually officially happen but maybe that's just me if you guys feel like that they could have actually made them getting together work in later parts of the show then feel free to sound off in the comments okay so I will admit that I did skip over a large chunk of the finale that is really memorable to people the idea that love will always triumph over hate seems to be the general theme of this two-parter we see that even though Ethan and Sarah are going through some teenage drama at the moment the true love that they have for each other even if it's just on a platonic level is what will get them through to the end and help them defeat Stern and they say love in general for his friends so that includes Benny the really sweet moment where they all hold hands with each other and Ethan's able to get over the hex that Stern put on him so he can you know actually properly deal with him is a really sweet moment and it's truly what the heart of the show is at the end of the day highlighting the true love you can feel for your friends is something that I think is quite unique for the show and I do give them props for doing that oh my God I completely forgot about the [ __ ] vampire phone holy [ __ ] the caller we use it to communicate with other covens but he can use it to broadcast the lucifractor field across the entire town at once what the [ __ ] is the Coller oh my God the Coller the caller there's like [ __ ] 5 minutes left in this episode and they introduce the collar the way that other vampire councils communicate with each other what is this [ __ ] the call that could have been established so much earlier I mean so much earlier literally at the beginning of the first part the only reason why the lucif factor becomes known by the vampire council is because Stern like paralyzed one of the elders to try and learn where the lucifractor is so they get Ethan and AER abilities to try and find out why this guy was paralyzed which is how we learned that it was Stern who did it looking for the lucifractor it could have been mentioned then but no it's just casually dropped by Jesse like oh by the way we have a vampire phone like [ __ ] you sorry I wasn't planning on freaking out like that in this video but that is that actually infuriates me I'm sorry it didn't even need to be included in the episode at all there there doesn't need to be a reason as to why Stern can project the lucifractor powers over the entire town it can just [ __ ] do that it's a goddamn McGuffin for [ __ ] sake like Jesus Christ why did they say this why did they write this in the script why so basically the only reason why Stern heads to the vampire council is so he can use the collar to project the lucifractor lucif fracing ability across the entire town hence killing every vampire in town at once this didn't need to exist at all I mean if it was going to become important in a later plot line in season 3 then I get it but it infuriates me there's just too much info dumping in this second part you need to you need to span this [ __ ] out over time I think one of the beauties of maav is that they do a lot of problem solving throughout the show throughout each episode Ethan has to sit down and open up some dusty ass books and flip through and then find out the information slowly over time and his Visions Aid in that why couldn't the two-parter be about that them slowly learning all of this information the same way they did in the movie instead of it just being told to him by [ __ ] Stern why would Stern tell him about his great grandpappy randomly when he's trying to get him to stop the plan it's only so the audience can know it's lazy it's [ __ ] lazy and it actually is a good plotline if this was just given the proper time and care it would have been a good storyline and people would have cared about it and remembered it people also would have cared and remembered it if it actually got conclusion but no I want to speak about the conclusion now I think we all already know about the explosion [ __ ] right uh an explosion happens they're like wow that explosion was crazy and then the episode ends and the show ends forever it's quite frustrating I understand but it was implied that Stern could not handle the power of the lucifractor so my mind immediately assumes that the lucifractor maybe killed Stern in some way in this interaction uh he cannot handle the power the bigu happened but like what happens after that we'll never know I don't know if it killed all the vampires or if it actually just killed everybody I mean it's assumed that lucifractor has no way of killing humans but when a big bouey explosion like that happens you know it could be seen as a sort of earthquake like thing maybe a natural disaster of sorts because we see it from very far away from Ethan and Erica who have been Charmed by the vampire council's leader Anastasia to run away I don't know why she just picks these two vampires to go with her um maybe she thought they were fun I don't know or maybe they were the only ones who had like decided to stay with her the rest of them just fleed I'm sorry for bringing up Wizards wly place again but in this show it actually makes sense that basically all the vampires are fleeing because they're Immortal so instead of being killed trying to like protect this town they can just like [ __ ] off to Europe and wait 200 years and then come back if they want so it actually makes sense for them to leave because it's not like this wacko is trying to kill the entire world it's not like an asteroid is taking out the entire planet it's just like okay this town is not going to be held by vampires anymore that's fine I can just come back later literally Anastasia says that in the episode from a vampire perspective that makes sense is what I'm trying to say I understand if the humans are like we need to stop this now Stern is actively harming humans surrounded by them like Grandma Weir we actually do have some proof some evidence one might say of what the writers we're planning to do with season 3 going forward I should have mentioned this in the fandom section but I'm just going to do it now so sorry for the organization the my babysitters of vampire official Facebook group was basically like where the fandom originated from it was a Facebook group run by Teleton where fans were allowed to interact with people who worked on the show and got to see behind the scenes info if they joined so it was basically the one place you can go to and ask a question just send it into the chat and then actual people who worked on the show would respond and most of the time they would just share behind the scenes photos and personal things that they had decided to put into the show that people may or may not have noticed I actually went through like basically most of the posts from the maab Facebook group to try and find sources to screenshots that I had previously found the main one I was looking for is Mike kiss because he was a main writer on the show and he even appeared in a guest room he was the mcfingers guy in The Brood episode he responded to a lot of people's comments when it comes to small details and writing elements when it comes to the characters so I wanted to find sources to some screenshots I found but I think he deleted his Facebook page because basically all of his comments are gone and any links to his Facebook page are like dead so that's sad to see but at least we have some screenshots from around the time according to my kiss after the finale was aired he responded to a comment basically basically saying that yes they were going in more serialized story format but we're not going to go full drama like Vampire Diaries or True Blood they were going to stay being a comedic show and that comedy was the main key of the show I agree that comedy is the biggest thing that differentiates maab from other shows in this genre like I said earlier in the video but you can see dynamics that the show wanted to go forward with were being set up in this finale so going forward the show was clearly not going to make as big as a shift as I think we all thought it was going to considering the nature of the season 2 finale I mean in a different world maab does have a season 3 and it's like very serious and very dramatic with a few comedic moments but is basically the season 2 finale but an entire season's worth of that and honestly I would be fine with that but in reality season 3 seems seems like it would have been a lot more like season 2 but with some more development for the characters of course and still pretty episodic in its nature I want to talk about Ethan a little bit more by the way because that mention of him becoming a lot more noble and the development of his powers uh brings an important element that I forgot to mention into play which is Ethan's Powers Ethan's powers develop in a very interesting way in the season 2 finale in a way that clearly shows this was not what they were intending to be the ending of the show Ethan's Powers developed past being able to just get Visions when coming in contact with the supernatural he is now able to hop inside people's minds whether or not he was able to only do this with the supernatural or not because we only see him do this with wizard and vampire people this is still like crazy right like imagine a version of season 2 where Ethan could jump inside people's minds and like have mind Palace discussions with them all in the span of like a second like what kind of show would that be most people probably forget that this even existed in the show and was a plan to go forward with because they have not seen the finale or two forget that it's even a thing because they don't watch the finale enough to really think about that like that's a pretty big shift Ethan's PO is developing into something a lot more serious is definitely a big shift in the status quo like it really is and we don't really get to learn how his power development works or what happens because he just kind of does it in the episode and clearly was supposed to you know be expanded upon later on and it never was so I can't really talk about it much like he jumps into people's minds and he talks with them in their subconscious kind of like Professor X and that's it another thing I forgot to mention while recording this part is that the reason why this finale feels so anticlimactic is because Ethan and Benny and the rest of the Fang Gang don't really do anything different than what they used to do throughout the entire series yet they still fail like they're facing a foe that they are in no way prepared for season 2 did not see them slowly build up power and become a more stronger Force so they can deal with stronger foes they just kind of keep coasting off of the mediocre skills and talent that they have and then all a and thrown in like a level 10 boss battle so you see them acting pretty much the same way that they have the entire season and then they get thrown on their ass and then the show is over forever you never get to see them finally triumph over evil it just it just ends Stern is so easily able to outsmart them and get his way and then he wins at the end it's like if Avengers Infinity war was the final installment in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe and they just never got to make endgame because they ran out of money or something like yes it was a very risky decision to end the movie on the good guys losing and it ended up being worth it in the end because they were able to have them finally triumphantly win after it all if you don't have that second part then the entire finale just feels so anticlimactic my babysitters of vampire will never have a conclusion and it sucks it sucks that this is the world that we live in especially after all these years the idea that the show would ever continue gets less and less likely with every passing hour of every passing day I've personally come to terms with the fact that the show is never going to continue ever again I mean even if it did I don't think any of us would want it to everything that could go wrong with a show possibly being revived has gone wrong Matthew Knight has quit acting forever and has no social media anymore and is living a quiet Life as a family man good for him attakus Mitchell we're not going to go there Vanessa Morgan is still acting and honestly she looks the exact same she did when the show first aired so theoretically she still could play a 17-year-old vampire and I would believe it but at this point she's been in Riverdale for so along that like she probably has a much higher budget than what a maab reunion could handle Kate Todd also doesn't act anymore but she's an acting coach so it would be possible for her to come back on she also looks amazing and Cameron Kennedy is also quick acting and he has a completely different job and is living a happy life and is the only one who really references the show on a semi-regular basis plus they're all adults now they are all supposed to be immortal teenage vampires and they're all old as [ __ ] personally I think maab would work wonders as a comic book series I'm not just saying that because I like comic books it would work perfectly and the character is not aging it would allow the show to be a lot more grandiose with its special effects and such because season 2 you can tell the budget was cut severely and there's a lot of editing mistakes and a lot of cheap parts when it comes to the special effects that season 1 didn't have because it wasn't as ambitious so a comic book would allow you to do as much as you wanted and it would embrace the episodic style of Storytelling that the show was so well known for a book maybe I would be perfectly fine if uh someone who worked at tetun and worked on the show leaked a possible script of what was supposed to happen I would be fine with that I wouldn't complain at all but seriously I think a comic book would be the perfect way for this show to continue on in its natural form I mean I'll [ __ ] write it like I'll write it just please please look at my please look at my drafts please look at my rough draft I have I have so many spec scripts if they did ever consider actually doing a reunion of sorts like all five actors decided they wanted to come back and do a reunion movie or special episode or something then here's my possible idea for that you don't have to explain it like this but let's just say that the explosion like reset the entire world so like all the people who were vampires are no longer vampires and they have amnesia they just wake up and start living life like normal again so that means that like Sarah Erica and Rory are all human again and they have no idea what the whole past two years of their life has been like they just kind of wake up and move on as people and so then there's like a reunion at [ __ ] White Chapel high or whatever right and Benny and Ethan who are you know humans still know about the supernatural world and still you know do their episodic demon fighting battles on the side of having families or or whatever personally I think Benny would be a deadbeat dad who has like three children and he only sees them like on Christmas and that's it and Ethan is married to like some random lovely woman and he's basically living the same life that his parents did you know two kids huge house 2 acres of land and Ethan's like wow I finally get to see Sarah and Rory and Erica again we haven't seen them in so long and they have memory of the whole Lucifer actor everything but them three do not and they have not decided to contact each other because Ethan wants to keep the secret of the Supernatural and stuff and Benny wants to Bone Erica and it's really awkward for everybody there there's your comedic element and then something Supernatural happens at the high school there's ghosts or whatever I think the show did ghosts the best when it comes to like you know keeping the continuity up and clearly this High School is Haunted as [ __ ] Ethan and Benny have to like stop this super Supernatural cause and the three others are like freaking out because they just learned that the supernatural exists and then maybe Ethan and Sarah have a heart tohe heart where he like kind of explains that like they went on a date once and they were friends but like it's kind of awkward and they have a nice friendship moment and Erica slaps Benny in the face for him trying to Bone her also Rory is a famous radio host I don't know why I think that he should do that but I think he should be a famous radio host it's seems like a perfect future for him if he was a vampire and if he wasn't since he doesn't have to appear on camera but he can still be rich and famous I like the idea of Rory being extremely wealthy and famous so there there's my idea for like a reunion if they ever decided to do it it would fix the fact that all of the actors have aged and it would be a cute little romp that'll never happen though because Matthew Knight will probably never come back to acting ever again is that like it are we like done now finally I've been working on this video for like 3 months now um I've kind of lost my mind while doing it so much new information about myab has come out in the span of me making this video that really shouldn't be the case because this show has been dead for over 10 years now the 10 year anniversary of the maab finale was October of 2022 and that happening really inspired me to make this video I would have liked to release this on the actual 10year anniversary but I didn't start writing it until Halloween so you're getting this seasonal video very late I really thank everybody who are watching up to this point which I'm assuming is nobody because maab is truly my favorite show of all time when people ask me what my favorite movie is I ask them do you want me to tell you the truth and they always say yes of course but the truth is never satisfied Ying to them because when I say that my favorite movie is My Babysitter's a Vampire they don't believe me and then I have to lie and say like the lighthouse or something because truly I wouldn't be the person I am today if it weren't for this show it means so much to me it has a lot of sentimental value to me and I spend every waking hour of my life thinking about it so that's what this video was I originally intended this to be basically me getting all of my opinions out there so I would never have to talk about the series ever again but that's clearly not the case because I have many ideas for other videos I want to make regarding this series so look out for those if you're interested I've been recording for so long I'm so tired I'm hungry I've had to pee this entire time let's just end it thank you for watching and I'll see you with my next video which I did a poll to figure out which topic I should talk about next and that will be Wizards of Waverly Place so if you're interested in hearing about my opinions on that check it out if you want to hear me and my friends go in depth about every episode of this show make sure to check out our TV show review podcast the vampy wampy campy podcast no I did not come up with the name episodes have been coming out a little slower because I've been editing this along with editing that so trying to do The Balancing Act has been a little hard but a new episode should be out like right after I finish recording this I'll uh I'll see you next time thank you for watching please leave your comments if you're interested and I'll uh see you next time [Music] [Music] bye see when I like semi framed this shot I was hoping the poster wouldn't be well seen but now it's just it's just the crotch it's just male genitalia in the background I don't I don't want to take the poster down but I don't know how else to fix that
