My typical day is full-on I would
say, I usually tend to come to school about half seven because I like to get
all my work done before the children come. About half seven I would come into school I would get all my work done in
terms of like maths paperwork, worksheets that they need to do in the class any maybe word maps, vocabulary that they need for their writing and just make
sure that all my powerpoints that I need to present are open ready and then around ten to nine the children will come in My name is Zainab
I'm currently a year three teacher and I am in my second year of teaching What inspired me in terms of becoming
teacher was from a very young age I've always loved working with children so
even when I was in high school we used to go to primary school and just support
primary school children and I think from then on I've always wanted to just
inspire children I first did my undergraduate course as a BA and I did
Early Years and Childhood Studies and after that I knew I wanted to become a teacher. The thought of helping children was a
big inspiration for me so after my BA I took two years out just to get some
experience and then I went back and did my PGCE and now I'm here. I love teaching because it allows me to be myself it allows me to be that child that maybe I
wanted to be when I was a child myself and it also just allows me to become
more comfortable with the kids and allow them to express how they're feeling,
teaching isn't only about teaching children it's about understanding how
they are children are still young and you know children are naive they are vulnerable so for you to become a teacher as a primary school teacher you're educating
them on what life's going to be like so for me it was more about inspiring
children about education about the world about what is important out there When I first did my BA the support I got
from my tutors were amazing so there was many times where I just needed some
guidance with my assignments or just placement wise and they were absolutely
amazing they supported me, gave me one to one support, Manchester Met taught us how to support children with needs and how to differentiate the work so I think
that was a big key in learning itself and in education you have to
differentiate the work, you've got to meet their needs
you can't just leave them out there'll be so many children in the classroom you
won't even realize that some children will be so shy or they'll feel quite intimidated because they don't know the answer and you have to make them feel
comfortable and you have to try and engage but I think that's why I love
teaching because it allows me to just make sure children are making the right
choices in life but sometimes it's just nice to sit down with them and say do you know what it's okay I get you I understand what you're going through
let me help you being able to have that communication with that child or with
your children it's a really nice feeling because you know that you can help them
and you can guide them through so it's always making sure that they are happy
they're secure around you also that they love coming to school that will
make me smile if they come to school be confident with yourself there's a reason
why you came into the profession enjoy it as you can because teaching is a very
good job and it's a very inspirational job as well I couldn't actually thank
Manchester Met enough I think because of them I am where I am right now I'm
really really happy that I made the right choice by going to Manchester Met.
