archaeologists have in fact found miseries it begs the question of why this city apparently collapsed federico de romanis an expert in the indo-roman pepper trade spoke with the guardian in 2016 stating muziris was entirely dependent on foreign especially roman demand for pepper he theorizes that when the roman empire began struggling economically during the 3rd century its demand for pepper
