this is the lock-picking lawyer and I just got back from Locke fest in Seattle where I met some great people and participated in my very first lock-picking competition and what a great experience that was being pitted against some really talented folks while picking under the pressure of both the competition and the clock so I was really pleased to have taken home the first-place prize this padlock model 900 a which is engraved as the trophy and I figured what better way to show it off than to pick it open and show you what's inside so let's get to it I'm going to be using top of the key way tension with a 40,000 thick pry bar and a standard hook in 18 thousandths okay nice click out of one a little bit more okay one feel set nothing on 2/3 is binding three feels set four is binding got a nice click out of him click out of five little click out of six back to the beginning one feels set two is binding tightly okay I think we have to set now nothing on three four five okay click out of six and we open this up so let's take it apart and see what's inside to open this up we need to remove an Allen screw down the shackle hole okay and I'll need to remove the clip on the back of that core okay now but the clip is off we should just need the key and a follower okay let's start by dumping these key pins out standard in one standard in two same in three serrated in four standard in five and serrated and six let's arrange these okay let's get the driver pins out now it's a shallow spool and slot one serrated in slot to another shallow spool in slot three serrated in for spool in five and a standard pin in slot sex and it looks like all of the springs are the same okay let me give you a little closer view of these pins we have standard pins in slots one two three and four as key pins then serrated in slots four and six note that the serrated pins are a little bit longer than the other ones we probably don't see serrations in the standard key pins because they're shorter and those serrations never would have come into play moving up to the driver pins we have shallow spools and slots one three and five serrated pins in slots two and four and a standard pin in slot six so as you can see from the pinning pack locks tend to be toward the front of the pack when it comes to pick resistance however that's probably not going to be a problem for anyone who earns this trophy in any case that's all I have for you today if you do have any questions or comments about this please put them below if you like this video and would like to see more like it please subscribe and as always have a nice day thank you
