building the same old vanilla suburban houses over and over again can get a little bit boring after a while and when you want to try something new it can feel really difficult so you just want to give up so today I'm giving you some tips on how to do different kinds of things and I'm going to show you how to do them very very easily so whether you're a beginner Builder or an advanced Builder you'll be able to follow everything so what I mean by a sunken build is to basically create a hole in the ground now in order to do that all you have to do is you create a basement shape the basement itself in whichever way that you would like then click on it go up a floor click this yellow line here and click remove ceiling and then it creates a sunken area and then you could do stairs leading up to this and you could do a hole downstairs and of course if you attached rooms to the side here you could really easily create an entire underground building just like this to give you some inspiration this is a modern home that I designed earlier today now in the back of the home you'll notice the ground floor is actually kind of like a bridge and underneath the ground floor we have a sunken area with a swimming pool from the view of the house as you walk inside we've got some stairs going down here and then these stairs lead down into a basement kitchen and then you open the door out to a swimming pool area and then I've also made a separate part of the build here I guess you can make this like a crafting room or something thing and then it goes upstairs onto the upstairs balcony this right here if you're wondering is fake grass is in the fake grass flooring in order to make it look like real grass and you could have a barbecue up here Sun lounges this is also an empty sh that I've built I put it on the gallery under # SOS Dusty Turf as it is built on the dusty Turf lot in aasis Springs SOS means sat on Sims not save our souls if that's what you're wondering if you're looking for some more inspiration you could also make kind of like an apartment complex so you don't obviously need to have full rent in order to do this but you can if you want to so maybe you could make some different apartments create basements underneath of a similar size create an open basement here so that you can go down the top level you could maybe add like a balcony like this add some stairs going up duplicate the different rooms above it like this on this level you can add a balcony just like this here too add some stairs going down of course and now if I just pop some railings in this isn't me doing like a full-on buil this isn't me trying this is just giving you ideas but you could make an entire apartment complex that's just like this so I've just downloaded this little Courtyard off the gallery I mean it's safe to say guys okay this looks horrendous in Oasis Springs but pretend we're in a different Sims for world with grass you could really easily design your own little Courtyard space in the middle of a park that you build and then you could add fences around it it wouldn't have to be this huge this is just an example and then you could build like a Park area around it you can put some different benches around it like guys I know we're in Oasis Springs okay just pretend we're in Willow Creek or something and then you can buildt like a really nice Courtyard there's so many ideas that you can do with a sunken build and if you have any of your own ideas that I haven't mentioned please leave them in the comments so other people can use them as inspiration when I say complete shs I am not talking about sh challenges honestly I'm sick of show challenges at this point and done with them what I'm talking about is renovating the inside of an existing build on the Potter playay Lots in Willow Creek I built this house earlier today and I've left the interior completely empty other than the fitted furniture that you'd find if you purchase any house in real life being all of the kitchen cabinets and also all of the basic bathroom stuff but the entire exterior is done you just have to furnish the inside completing shows like this can be so much fun if you really just hate the idea of building a house because let's be honest the actual building is so exhausting when it comes to decorating the inside you can't be bothered this is a really easy way to just jump straight into Furnishing a house this lot is on the gallery just search for # SOS Potters spay another Creator I love for this is Danielle build I yearn for Danielle's stuff almost everything she does is a shell so I've just downloaded this from her Gallery as you can see she's even used to rain paint now the entire outside has been done but if you go inside the entire thing is empty and you have to furnish everything yourself this one here is a base game home she's done so from the outside the entire home is completely finished even with terrain paint which is absolutely insane and then when you go inside it's fully ready for you to furnish the entire thing your s this way you get to do the fun part of designing your own home but without having to do the annoying building The Sims for is not really built with family gameplay in mind it's only Built with like young adult gameplay in mind if you know what I mean I rarely ever see people building Community lots that are designed specifically for teenagers and children I actually built this community center lot right now I have it in Oasis Springs usually I have it in Sans sequia the growing together world but just to show you oh where did that wool go where did it go how unprofessional of me oh my God quickly let me put the wo back just like nothing ever happened so this slot here is what I say is it's literally just a youth center so we've actually got it in split in two halves we've got the younger kids area which is for kids and toddlers and it's got a ton of stuff for them to do and then the other half is for kids and teens so we've got a couple of computer desks we got exercise equipment this is the games table which which came in the base game I've also made a little music room here we've also got a basketball thing outside now when you're creating this as a generic lot underlock traits I've actually selected conveni so they boost Charisma comedy and Mischief skill a teen neighborhood which is important because that way teens will actually show up on the lot and I've also added child's play as well if you are a PC player you can actually get mods which cause certain age groups to show up more than others but if you're doing vanilla you can just use for example teen neighborhood and Child's Play nobody ever seems to build youth centers and I feel like it's just a fun way of making the game feel a little bit more interesting if you are a family player cuz I know a lot of you are but the simsville base game does not actually come with any Lots designed for kids or teens in mind and the reason why I'd say it's so easy is because you can get away with doing something modern like this I literally just put four squares together it can be very very easy if you make it easy if you own a pack or two an expansion pack or a game pack you might have extra unlocked Community lot types which I feel like most people don't make use of when they're building building Community Lots is very fun but building split Community Lots can be even more fun this is another lot that I've made which is half a recreation center and half a cafe I built this one in the Magnolia promade world as you can see the lot size is very small and I've always said in The Sims 4 smaller is always better the smaller your builds the more room ironically you have to work with even though this lot's so tiny I was able to fit two separate builds in here and even though this lot is just set as a cafe Sims will still come in here and autonomously use some of the things and of course your Sims that you play as can as well when you're doing split Community Lots I recommend like less is more in terms of gameplay functionality objects if you make it too jam-packed Sims won't use everything that they have to offer and if you want to make a split restaurant cross with something else I have a tip for you depending on which packs you have you might have access to some different kinds of stores all of these stores sell something different usually they're different kinds of food but you can also get other ones like this craft stall in Eco lifestyle or Mrs crumple Bottom's garden shop so let's say you're making a split build let's say one half is I don't know a library so you set this as a library lot type but next to the library you want to have like a open market food place next our extremely attractive Library I've made an equally attractive food haul so I've tried to conceal the food stands using columns and things and hiding them behind walls obviously this is not aesthetic but just to show you functionally how to do it this is all you need to do also the room behind where the food stores are where the little back door is all you have to do is make sure that you actually turn this into a room and create kind of like a staff entrance at the back of the build so that the vendors can actually walk in there and then this is how you can use food stores inside but even if you didn't want to do them inside you can always create a smallish Park right next to the lot that you've built and then you can add some different kind of food stores all around now in The Sims 4 base game it's very important to know you can only have two stools on one individual lot at a time which is kind of annoying but if you are a PC and Mac player you can use mods in order to add more but if you're a console player you can at least use two and just splitting up a community lot in terms of making a an attractive library that definitely doesn't look like a big white box and then on the other side you can turn it into half a park and I recommend doing this honestly with every single Community build because parks are very very easy to make guys you just need benches and trees that's pretty much it and then you can gradually turn it into a really great functional lot with food and whatever else the lot type is supposed to be the Sims for in general is full of a lot of lots which exist but we've never even used and I feel like they're just wasting space as empty houses and that's a really great invitation for you to renovate it into something else one lot that I have done before which if you own City living you'll know what I mean it is the old salt house this lot was literally just a random house in the middle of the city Living World which make no sense so I actually converted it into a nightclub before this was a very strange looking modern build and now I've changed it so we've got a dance floor and a DJ booth and a VIP area and we've got a bar over here and we've got another bar over here upstairs we've got our woohoo room and we've got another lounge and we got an upstairs bit the rattlesnake juice B that's in Oasis Springs in the base game what I would honestly do okay is delete this whole entire section at the back right here on this side add a wall move the door over a little bit now if you own din out for example you could very easily turn this entire Place into a restaurant and add the food stand maybe somewhere here add a simple little door going into there make sure you have a waight to station and of course make sure that you have a host station somewhere too just like this and just by doing a very tiny amount of stuff I've turned this into a functional restaurant there is Lally so much you can do just by doing basic Renovations of existing lots and it's a lot easier than building something up yourself I know a lot of people want to build attics in The Sims 4 but they don't know how and I recommend doing it to almost all of your builds at least if you have a larger house today I'm going to show you how to do it easily I'm going to go over to Brook Bungalow in Willow Creek this is just a base game build but it's quite a big house and as you can see we've got a nice big roof all you need to do is delete the original roof and then make the attic space usually when it comes to attics I would say thinner smaller the better now you've got the attic I actually want you to delete all the walls on the side here grab a half gabled roof put it across like this and drag it all the way across now you just have to align it correctly to the wall with this small Arrow at the top here hold shift and drag it in and this will bring the eve of the roof just down like this copy that over to the other side now for the actual roof itself you could put a normal gabled roof on top using the smaller Arrow bring the sides in make sure you align it with the other half gabled roofs to make it fit bring the original roof back in and as you can see now we have a very simple attic this is a basic attic and from here all you actually need is to do a ladder going upwards cuz of course it's an attic you would have a ladder and then there you go we've got a ladder into our attic just here and you can easily add some different windows on the top you just of course can't put them on the side like this and the entire attic is fully functional now some of you might want a sun roof this is very easy wherever you want the sunroof to go in your attic all you have to do is on one of the sides drag the wall in copy it over to the other side copy it again place it on top of itself bring it all the way across in the middle here make sure it's only one tile long so you drag it into one tile lengthways and that leaves us with an open Gap all we have to do is copy this place it back on top of itself using the smaller Arrow key and holding left shift bring this bit up use the design that you want for the window and using the main Arrow key drop it down slightly and when you drop it down slightly it creates a gap make sure of course you just clean it up at the bottom like this and now you have a pretty little sunroof in your attic another way is to use a half hipped roof and simply drag it and copy it all the way around making sure all of the corners are touching each other and then once you've placed this all the way around simply build a box align the roof pieces so that they reach the top of the box and then you simply add a normal hipped roof on the top make sure the sidewalls are connected you can also remove the top roof and you can simply drag a fence around the top something like this you can even actually add potentially a small little sunroof like this and then you can have some really interesting light combinations there's so many different ways you can do an attic and most people don't bother but they're actually very fun and easy something else I see a lot of people wanting to do but not knowing how to do is making a trailer park with actually goodlooking trailers I have bulldozed Johnny zest slot and I've just made a tiny little trailer here a very very basic one and I'm going to show you how to do it very very simple and you can do it in the base game firstly you map out the size that you want for your trailer next up you duplicate this and you put it on top of this one next up the bottom one right at the back you want to drag the wall out by one tile next up you get a hipped roof and you drag the hip roof all the way across the top here and then you want to get a half gabled roof and make this one one tile long across this tile sticking out here and using the smaller Arrow key bring all of the EES in on the sides now you want to drop the main ceiling low using the ball you can rotate it upwards like this and then you want to align this wall with it and again using the ball you can rotate it upwards to kind of make it look a bit more curved change the roof pattern to one of the Metal Sheets that are in the base game delete this lower room click on the upper room and using this middle cubic Arrow you want to bring it down and you want to have it floating just a above the ground and this creates the illusion that it's actually a trailer and now you want to grab a staircase put it at the side of the build like this add in a door you think would suit the vibe and I usually like to use these windows here and I'll duplicate that around and then at the front of the trailer I usually like to use the bigger version the base game window this one here like this and now what we do you're going to think I'm crazy under wall lights you want to go for aqua glow pool light and change to Swatch to Black using the right bracket key size it up twice rotate it inwards and holding controller 9 obviously with move objects on raise it high enough so it's just above the ground and you slot it in here and you repeat that for all four corners and it makes it look like you've got wheels the next thing I want you to do is obviously do a wo Swatch now I guess you could use maybe like the basic white siding I don't feel like it looks right in my opinion there's a lot of different wallpaper swatches that you could experiment with but in my personal opinion under paint go for Dolce duet and use this one all the way around because I personally think this one looks like a caravan the most or a trailer a trailer before the Americans are killing me in my opinion anyway this one looks a little bit more like a trailer now the next thing that you want to do is under fences to smooth keeper base game fence and I want you to create an arrow like this put a line down the middle and bring the line out one or two drops and then obviously with the bulldo tool remove the room inside go on to the gallery type in truck choose any truck that you like you don't have to have a truck to be fair you could also just use a car you don't need a truck you could use a car anyway or you have to do now is pop that on there and it looks like you've got a trailer and it is functional your Sims can go in it and use it if that's too difficult for you however a much simpler way is to just build the trailer itself raise it up on a platform quite high and you can either use a very simple ltis Foundation or you could use one of the stilt foundations I guess the bits on the floor could look like um I don't know what they call like pegs to keep it in the ground my personal favorite is literally just to use this light sized up or if you really don't want to guys you could just not size the light up and instead have it like a static trailer you could use a half hi roof on the top bring all of the sides in bring it all the way across and then you can raise it slightly like this then add your stairs in like this and this is another very simple way of pulling off the exact same aesthetic there is a satellite dish in strangerville but on the gallery you can find a debug satellite dish which is definitely not as pretty but it does the job if you don't own strangerville you can use this base game debug satellite dish by literally searching for it in the gallery and the rooms another design tip that I cannot recommend enough is you can use awning on the side we do have this one that comes in the base game and it just makes it look a lot more realistic in my personal opinion there are tons of different ways and of course you just want to repeat this and make multiple in the same area and then you've built a fullon trailer part now tree houses are another fun thing you can do you can either literally make an entire big treeh house a live in or you can just have a smaller one in the back of your garden and they're actually built in a similar way to the Caravans I mean trailers so first up you've got to choose your tree let's use the basic oak tree from the base game so I've just sized it up once or you could size it up twice is up to you so firstly you build your room around the tree trunk and then you duplicate it put it on top now if you delete the one underneath it will cause the tree to like clip upward so instead of deleting it all you want to do is grab the arrow and bring it to the side and then you can just delete the wall that way and it should stay in place now you can freely move it around in any way that you like and of course drag it up and down using the cubic Arrow key to get it to the correct height that you want to have it at now something that I like to do which is optional I like to actually put a fence from where the tree is and delete the inside this can help you to see what you're doing and also make some extra adjustments to the way that it looks now directly underneath you can simply place a base game ladder and as you can see the ladder does go into the Treehouse another thing I like to do is actually make the walls diagonal on the inside that way it looks a little bit more rounded in fact I'm going to quickly go over with the laders just so we can make it look smaller and a lot more cozy I've added a little octagonal roof on top I might bring it up just a little bit more add my stairs back in and then from here that's when you can do all of your little bits of decorations you can decorate it however you want to decorate it and the difference between this by the way in the tree house from the growing together pack is that this one one can actually be functional so I could place a little camping bed in the corner here we could have a little mini fridge you could put a cozy chair in here you could even I don't know put a TV on the wall if you really wanted to add some aesthetic lighting there's a lot of different things you can do another technique is you might want to actually delete this ladder and you can use the room tool and you can create a flooring so to give you some inspiration maybe you could do something like this add a fence around the top make sure you use a brown trim so you don't have that weird white bit and then you can add your step ladder here there are a lot of different options for making a tree house big or small and I never ever see people put them in their houses so this is your sign to start doing it you guys tell me what your favorite build idea was from today and also give other people some recommendations in the comments and make sure you check out what other people have said because they might be useful to you too if you enjoyed this video here you might also enjoy the next one recommended thank you very much for watching I will see you in the next one
