gather here in the tabernacle we're so thankful lord for the many many blessings that have been poured out in this place throughout the years and we come in tonight with high expectations ready lord for you to meet us once again we're thankful for your presence lord and we know that as we go through this service that you're sure to bless we ask your anointing to rest upon all that is said and done testimonies music lord especially the word of god made speak to the need of each heart ministering to each one in this place those watching over the webcast lord we know that you know every need god and we know that you can supply it we ask lord that you would meet us around the altars of prayer bless until the last one would leave this night we ask in name [Music] beginning in class across the street at the church and back here for the rest of the day for our devotional my short webcast portion of that next friday testimonies two three six [Music] [Music] you [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] hey man i'm so glad that i can stand here tonight and say that i have the victory i'm glad to be in camp reading this looks like can't wait fills my company camp meeting i know the lord wants do a lot more um this is my testimony but it's not really about me at all it's what the lord has done and i give him all the glory i'm so glad that i serve a god in heaven that has all power in heaven and earth and he walks with me day by day by my side he gives me victory he gives me joy that i know that the world can't understand people that i work with people that i cross paths with they don't understand they know i'm different i'm glad that it gives me the opportunity sometimes to tell them why i'm different i'm just so glad that i have victory and joy in my life and god answers prayer for me on a weekly basis he performs miracles in my life every day i'm so glad that he gives me a fresh up-to-date grace um relationship with him and i just want to give him all the praise that sounds like a closure but but i'm just so glad that what the lord has done for me um i guess my story i have a story began here in 1968 i was on this campground with my twin brother we weren't born until september but we were here with my mom and as it turned out with circumstances beyond my control we didn't end up being raised in this church but we were raised under the sound of the gospel and i'm so glad for the gospel it is that it's written in the bible and preached in this church i love that truth i love that gospel and i was raised in that however i took it for granted i didn't want to give my life to the lord for a really long time i heard so many people tell my mom that he's such a good boy and that i think that really went to my head and i believe that somehow the lord loved me so much of course i was wrong and but the lord spoke to me from from a very early age i remember sleeping out on the lawn looking up at the stars and i remember somehow instead of looking up at the stars i just imagined all of the people all the billions of people on the earth and i know he doesn't love me more but i felt like he loved me more but he showed me also that as small as i was i was just like everybody else and he helped me growing up um i didn't want to give my life to him for so long but i'm so thankful unfortunately i didn't seek him i didn't follow through as i should but i went on just going through the motions 1998 um he testified i went to sleep and i dreamed i have this reoccurring dream that i even still have sometimes but i'm going to trade in commercial buildings [Music] sometimes [Music] there was a door there that had a lot of warning signs that said not to enter not to open it and i went ahead and opened it and when i opened that door god showed me their vision of hell i could see the lost souls in hell crying just crying and screaming i woke up from that dream and i'm so thankful that the lord gave me the strength to fall on my knees and to cry out to him and pay him for mercy and he did not let me tell me save my soul that night and i know it was real and he's done so much for me since then as i said he works miracles in my life daily there's been so many times i've just cried out to him it's like saying i really need you this time and he does not disappoint um just recently i really had a need and it seemed like the lord didn't provide it i didn't understand what we all over help and that's just the way it is [Music] is your love is a mystery how you gently lift me when i am surrounded [Music] [Music] all the joy that's growing deep inside me every time i see you all your goodness shines [Music] hallelujah [Music] i love this amazing studio [Music] is [Applause] [Music] hallelujah [Music] well i'm thankful to be here tonight it's such a privilege to stand here and give my testimony a camp meeting since john started saying that his first campaign was 1968 that was also our first camp meeting my sister and i were in my mother's womb at that time we were born in october so um god knows what he's doing i didn't know john for the first several years of my life but we feel like you know god brought us together i'm so thankful that i was raised in a christian home my parents uh one thing i could tell you for sure is that god was first in our home i knew they loved the lord with all their heart and they raised us in the truth they lived at home what we were taught at church and what we were told to do was what the bible said to do and i'm so thankful for that training as early as i can remember i always wanted to serve the lord there was there was never a time as i can remember back to being three years old and pondering about eternity or things i heard about the rapture and i i just wanted to make it i wanted to be a christian and i'm very thankful that i had such a tender heart i know that that was very important i remember praying and getting saved before kindergarten and i started kindergarten when i was still four so early on i always wanted the lord in my heart and i i remember when i would fight with my sister which seemed like it was every day multiple times a day i would always feel bad about that and we would ask each other to forgive each other and we would even sometimes pray and make sure we were still saved very tender-hearted but you know as i got older i i took for granted the benefits of the gospel that were in my life because of godly parents and even godly grandparents the things that i was a recipient of i didn't realize it i just you know i took for granted so many things and i wanted the gospel i wanted the lord there to help me at every turn but i saw some things in the world that looked attractive too and although i didn't realize it what i wanted was i wanted both i wanted the gospel and the world i wanted both and that was a trick of satan and so as i was seeking after the things of the world i let the things of god slip in my life and i wasn't taking the time that i should have taken to seek god and i don't remember the exact moment but i do remember an awareness that i was separated from god and i remember crying i knew there was in my life and i i felt like i was in this place i didn't know how i'd gotten there and i was in my late teens at the time i was very much involved in church i was doing music i was teaching sunday school and telling everybody i was safe and sanctified and baptized and i wasn't but so for a long time i went on in this way and for the most part i would ignore i would try to shut it out i had many different ways i could shut out the voice of god but the lord was always faithful and he was always merciful to speak to me at times when you would not think that the lord would be there he was there he was reminding me that i needed him and he was calling me back and i remember thinking i can't ever tell anybody it just seemed too hard and the enemy kind of told me that similar to john in a way but it was like god would have to make an exception somehow that i could somehow make it to heaven without ever having to uh let go of the pride which which of course is impossible but i remember saying more than once lord please help me make it at the end somehow please help me to make it in the end because deep down in my heart there was just something that somehow i was so scared to go into a lost eternity and i'm thankful for the night in january of 1999 that i was sitting in my living room it was after midnight looking at a tv but the tv was off the lord was dealing with me john had gotten saved a couple months before that and he told about how he got saved and i remember when he he woke me up to tell me he got saved that night i just kind of felt like well i'm glad he's finally getting his act together you know and i just i really just didn't even feel anything but our home changed because he got saved and the holy spirit was dealing with me and i heard brother donald's destiny too and it spoke to my heart too because here was a person who you know had to have to come out and tell everybody that he'd been a hypocrite and god helped him he gave him victory and i began to want that i wanted to be free i was tired of living a lie i was tired of being asleep to my own pride but i didn't know how to get out and that night as i was sitting there in my apartment the lord was dealing with me and i thought you know i was raised in a christian home what if i ever have children someday i thought the home this is this is not the kind of home i was raised in and i could not raise children in this home and anyway i felt like a failure everything in my life i felt like it had been a failure but i went i got on my knees and i was so sorry but i just i remember just praying and asking the lord to please help me i just said will you please help me and the lord came down and saved me that night and he he made me a new creature he gave me victory right in that moment and i was just like a little baby it was like it was like everything was new and it took me a while before i even told anybody what happened but i was writing about it in a diary but you know the lord gave me the strength to stand up and testify at church i'll never forget and i thought i don't know what's gonna happen when i tell everybody that i had backslidden for 10 years and gotten saved but you know they embraced me they loved me everybody was thrilled and i'm so thankful for god's great mercy and his love i'm so thankful for the family of god one thing that i had missed out on was fellowship because i didn't really have fellowship with the family of god i would come and go but if i was disconnected and the lord restored that and he put such a love and it was like i didn't want to go home after church i don't know if that had ever happened before but that's just one of the benefits of serving the lord he's been so faithful to me i can stand here all night and tell you the goodness of god i won't but i just want to thank him for his mercy and for his faithfulness [Music] hey [Music] oh [Music] of the ministry [Music] [Music] is [Music] me [Music] is [Music] [Music] is [Music] so [Music] [Music] is [Music] compassion [Music] is [Music] yes proverbs the fear of the lord that kicks martin luther revived the bible doctrine of justification by faith christianity needs a revival of the bible doctrine of the fear of the lord both in the new testament the word fear and the bible is used in a variety of ways there are fears or for god has not given us the spirit of fear there is no fear in love but perfect love without fears says fear not but also there are scriptures like our texts tonight and also ecclesiastes 12 13 that tells duty of us or in the new testament [Music] [Music] because children learn how to respect authority and if they learn to respect respect for the almighty god to hear the lord um [Music] and the lord of lords [Music] which leads the believer to love and to obey god and to love and to love her the fear of the lord includes the worship of god includes all reverence towards god and love [Music] that so the fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge it's like learning the abcs of divine knowledge the fear of the lord it is the basics the fear of the lord is not just that chronological position it's not just the beginning but it's also that word describes the chief part or principle it is a starting point of fear of the lord is the starting point but also the essence of divine knowledge the fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge if it is the beginning of theology it's the beginning of understanding god and the bible if you ever hear somebody talk about knowing the bible but there's no sense of fear for god they haven't even begun to understand the knowledge of god because the fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge to worship god with the holy spirit means more than simply closing our eyes but proverbs the fear of the lord that delivers from evil delivers from sin transforms the life in another place and it says the fear of the lord's life it produces spiritual life it is the beginning of spiritual knowledge when we know christ that comes to the fear of the lord but through the lord it is not just the beginning but our whole worship the way we approach god the way we understand god the way we continue to serve god it is through this understanding that we approach him with the holy of fear the lord of knowledge that leads to humility to brokenness christians that leads to repentance to the lord reverend law of god is the motivation for holy living this is a new testament scripture first peter 1 17 and if you call on the father who without respect judges according to every man's work past the time of your surgery here in fear another way to say that if you say that god is your father peter says conduct yourself with fear while you live as strangers on the earth or another way to say is honor and reference god's reality with time because he judges all people partially according to each one's deeds this year the lord has tested in many ways in fact the first place in the bible if i must say the of the fear of god it is in relation to sexual sin sexual temptation is one way that teams for that blessed rather the fear of god the way we treat each other ephesians 5 21 paul said submit ourselves one to another in the fear of god the way we treat one another we treat one placed another in our hearts for one another but also out of regard the holy regard for god of course it's not an archaic old testament concept that promotes legalism rather it's the foundation of faith throughout this holiness gospel that we are a part of the fear of the lord and forms all the bible doctrines no holiness traditions the practices that our church has preserved for close to 120 [Music] we're in and encouraged create an atmosphere where there's a holy hush where there's a sense of holy reverence a worship one's prayerful atmosphere a special sense of the kiss of god [Music] [Music] therapeutic or something that makes us happy on him make ourselves smaller and even bigger it seems like there's a focus more on the grace of god and i would rather preach of the love and the grace of god than on the righteous [Music] but to properly understand grace you have to understand the fear of the romans lord the goodness and the severity of the grace of god the severity of god is the fear of the lord we seek grace [Music] hebrews together eternal kingdom let us have grace whereby we may serve god acceptably with reverences is is the love of god that melted my heart [Music] it was embedded in everything that we had a great time shall we this is the church how shall we escape yes the person that those that fear the lord [Music] judgment is knowledge we thank god he confronts the sinner unfortunately we know that not everybody that senses the fear of god or trembles at his word we know that uh just because somebody says of righteousness temperance or self-control and the in other words is god is reaching out to yourself that we might tremble at the thought of his love we're standing off or to others [Music] to make [Music] oh foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] today [Music] foreign this [Music] you [Music] [Music] [Music] surrender let that white flag go up and say lord i will answer the quote i will reach out to you oh you will be here to save you will save uh to the uttermost to block those sins away that will walk away with a clear record you'll sanctify believers you would fill holy vessels without doing a powerful service encourage every heart bless each one heal sick bodies lord you're here to
