People will make trades
off of food off the trays. Like, hey if, you give me this
food off of your tray today, I'll give you this food
off of my tray tomorrow. And people trade all
kinds of stuff on trays. It might be one of them
trays that really goes for two or three
soups, and they'll give it away for a honey bun. I trade off different stuff. I about an extra biscuit and
gravy this morning for one soup and a buddy status for a day. Buddy status for a day. He gets to be my
buddy for the day. Means you get to hit to E-6. You get shots of
coffee, honey buns. Get to eat with me and stuff. All extra [bleep] Ricky was supposed to
give Cody some hash browns and he didn't give
him hash browns. So you can't take
advantage of someone and not expect to
get consequences. You give somebody your word
or say you're going to do something, you should do that. INMATE: Wow, like this is--
it is about to get real, like, it's really getting real. They put me in
this crazy pod so I didn't know what was going on. INMATE: I know that they
started arguing over tater tots early in the morning,
so that's what led on the conflict and stuff. Just looking at
the two guys, you can tell at Cody's going to just
beat the brakes off this guy. You can definitely tell
that they're waiting until all the trays are cleared
out and there's not a reason for the guards to
be back this way any time soon. INMATE: I can see, like,
the fight from my bunk. Oh, he getting him bad. INMATE: I didn't see any of it
because I stayed on my bunk. Because any time anything
was going on in the pod, I don't want to be here any
other guys that are going and doing this
stuff, and I don't want to be involved in any way. Oh, [bleep]. [interposing voices] Break it up! Break it up! [bleep] Everybody lock down now. Lock down! Everybody lock down. INMATE: People are
going to fight. It's just like in any bar on
any Friday or Saturday night, you're probably
going to see a fight. There's nothing in this jail
where it's me fighting over. Ricky's got blood
all over his face. He's missing a
tooth or something. And got black eyes,
I mean, the fight had an obvious cause and effect. Ricky was supposed to give
his hash browns to Cody. He didn't give his
hash browns to Cody. He got beat up for it. [inaudible] Hold on. Hold on. [interposing voices] I didn't see nobody, boy. JOHNNY: There's this
guy, young kid, Jarod. And they call him Hot Rod,
and he just got in a fight with his friend Patrick. He came in into my cell because
he was looking for toothpaste, I think it was. So that was my opportunity
to get him while he was down. JOHNNY: It's hard to
get into these guys because different kind
of guys, these guys are really gang bangers. They're as real as
it's going to get. And me, I'm the
only one that have been there, seen it, done it. So I know that I can get in-- get in them, in their
hearts or in their mind. Most of the fights
in jail are because you didn't pay your debt. And they don't look
at it as the debt not being paid as much as it's
a lack of respect to them. I hear. You go straight
back to bed, bro. Hell no. [interposing voices] [smacking noises] Ah! Oh! DION: It was like at
3:00 in the morning. I was knocked out. And the next year I heard,
boom-boom-boom-boom-boom! Sheckles was just whipping
his ass in that shower, and it was just kind of scary. I was like [muted]. I regret taking the
remote from Sheckles. I could have actually been
the one who got stomped out. Oh! Oh. Oh. Oh. As a police officer,
I'm sworn to protect. So it's just hard to stay
focused and in character. Oh! Oh. Let him go, [inaudible]. I don't know if
the guards know. Them they don't act like they
have any clue that anything exceptional is going on. DION: Just [muted]
down here getting stomped out in the shower,
and they go to the wrong room. At that point I was like
I don't think nobody can protect me in this [muted]. And the dude didn't
snitch or nothing. He just went to his bunk,
laid under his cover, tried to hide it. And me? I didn't want to-- hey, CO, uh. The guards obviously
don't give a [muted] about what's going on in here. The Clark County
Jail has an extremely antiquated camera system. And the officer can only
see one section at a time. It makes it hard for
them to do their job to the best of their ability. Makes it tough for me, too. Come on, man. Come on. I don't know, man. Don't do it! Son of a bitch. You ain't through. Oh. It got real serious and
I was just, like, nervous. I was like-- Wherever, we planning
on just spotting them. Seeing Sheckles reminded
me of being in Detroit. I had a cousin who
was killed right on the corner of our block. It was pretty rough just
seeing all that stuff, Now my son's [inaudible]. They're just cool. But if you cross her, she
will get in your [bleep].. How are you doing? Fine. It's about respect,
and she keep walking around [bleep] disrespect me. This is [bleep] Sodom
and Gomorrah, man. And I'm not with the [bleep]. [interposing voices] Let go of her hair. Let got of her hair. [interposing voices] You've got to be fair. Let go of her hair. [interposing voices] JESSICA: Here, when you're in a
fight, you're not in that fight alone. Your whole room is in the fight. I was just watching. And I understand why my
husband was so aggressive. I get everything that
he was going through. The environment
makes you aggressive. Let's go. Let's go! Don't let me repeat myself. Let's go! Let's go. MAURI: The CO side of me just
been screaming on the inside. Better be in the right room! I don't know if they're
overworked or under-motivated, but somebody needs to redirect
all of these officers here. The whole [bleep] mad. The bitch want to come up here. Everybody wants to be
starting [bleep] bitch, but you start on that ho. And this is what I do, bitch. I wake up, I fight, bitch. That's what I do. I [bleep] know how. Bitch, I hit, but you
didn't do nothing, ho. I'm still going to hit. [bleep] This don't stop. It's not over with. I hope she don't think it's
over with because it's not. [buzzer] [inaudible] Bitch, I wasn't
talking about you, ho. [bleep] you talking to me. Some people don't care
about going on lockdown. I guess they want
to fight again. If we're going to fight,
we're going to fight. You can feel the tension
building with Lyric. In the girl comes
back downstairs. And she's talking
[bleep] again. When I saw that, I was like wow. Y'all [inaudible] [bleep]. Being in my room, I
heard two grown children downstairs arguing and
a whole bunch of chaos. No police involvement. This is just like a big
dormitory of stupid-ass women that have made the
dumbest mistakes over and over and over again. One on one. One on one. One on one. One on one. Don't nobody touch her. [interposing voices] There were two fights
and no officers to prevent all that from happening. I was scared. Scared, like, what's
going to occur when I try to go to sleep tonight?
Where am I going to be? Who am I going to be around? Fear of the unknown. I don't know. They cage them up like animals
so they act like animals? Or are you animal first
and then they cage them up because you are animals? It is very disturbing because
there is supposed to be here because they committed
a crime and you're supposed to learn your lesson. The only thing that they're
learning is violence. Now you have over
40 people, I'm sure. And people knew each other. There are people that did
not like each other in there. There's one girl in
there, her name is Elena. Me and Elena, we done all our
time right here in this pod. What's up? ASHLEIGH: Elena has
done a lot of time. This is my third time
ever being locked up, but the second time
I did 18 months. And I guess there
was some sort of snitch involved in that situation. Elena's snitch is in here. So, ah, we'll probably have
some conflict a little bit later because it's
pretty serious. The girl got Elena 18 months
and she's in this pod. Because of the move,
Elena's in this pod with this girl who snitched
on her and she's fired up. It's going down. Meet me in the pod. [interposing voices] Code for a fight is you
put your tennis shoes on. Clearly, there's a
fight about to go down. It's going to be a show up in
this [bleep] [bleep] tonight. And I could feel
the energetic shift. I could feel-- I know anger. I can just smell it. I can feel it. I can taste it. I don't even have to hear it. I can just sense it. Elena started to pull
her crew together. Hey. Calm yourself. And they start moving over. Moving over. moving over. I seen that. Then they start heading
to this one particular cell. Y'all, please don't
hit up on this girl. Whatever. Whatever? [interposing voices] Sarah, get out. Don't touch my people. See, somebody touched my people. Nobody touch nobody. ASHLEIGH: I had not seen
a fight before this. I definitely felt like
just this level of stress that I hadn't felt.
It's terrifying. Like, that anxiety
hit immediately. Man, look at the
[bleep] mess in my room. The root of that
fight was very simple. This young lady
that was in that pot allegedly snitched on
several people that are here. So she's got a couple of
ass-whoopings coming her way before she gets out of here. One thing about
jail, you can always expect a fight to go down. Four gang bangers
surrounded the cell and wouldn't let anybody in,
and that's how that goes. The gang members
protect each other. Come on in the room. Get caught, bro. Get caught. I had no idea
what was happening. So I'm questioning, why are
they not trying to stop this? My intention is just to
tell them, hey, guys, stop. It's not worth it
because if someone really gets hurt
or someone dies, you're going to regret this. It really wasn't a fight, it
was beat down where the gang members protect each other. When there are gangland
things going on, that's not the
time to interject. If Tebow was on the street,
he would have killed that man. I promise you that. He would have ended his life. After Tebow looked at me,
I'm like, y'all, I was nervous. So I just need to stay away
and just like regroup myself. Buchi is becoming a target. He interjected himself
at just the wrong time. He's not reading the
situation out there very well, how dangerous this is. I'm really fearful for Buchi. Buchi put himself
in the line of fire by trying to interject and
be a peacemaker and whatnot. He didn't understand
the rules associated with gangland activity. But I can't let
them beat up Buchi. I can't. I didn't have any fear
because I'm confident that I will [muted] them up. He's a wrestler. He came in first saying
nobody's going to mess with me. I can do this. I can do that. Buchi, I'm an MMA fighter. I can't do this and
that to five guys. Matt overheard they want
to get Buchi in the shower. So. I warned Buchi right away. I don't want to
see Buchi hurt. I'm very helpful
with people, talking to people, helping people out. So then I said, you know what? Just to really clear every
air, I have to do something no one would expect from me. I have to do
something outrageous. Johnny said that,
in his view, that he's not impressed with Buchi. The energy that he's
putting out right now may in fact be a tough-guy
facade to protect himself. But the worry in
his eyes tells me that there is a fright
in him right now, because he realizes
with all those guys, this is big beyond his ability.
