hello and welcome back to another Tesla video with me Adam well informed if you haven't seen me before I've been a happy owner by Tesla Model 3 for over two years now and over that time I've learned a lot about owning and operating a Tesla and what it takes it really is such an easy car to own and operate and one that you could confidently recommend to your grandparents but over time of ownership there are habits that you can instill from the get-go to help you against bat range anxiety and there are methods to ensure that your Tesla Model 3 has great battery health and these are just six simple and easy tips that you don't get taught but you definitely should know if you are a Tesla owner or even an aspiring Tesla Model 3 or white owner I'll show you some accessories I've brought to improve and protect my Tesla in addition to just getting the most out of your Tesla ownership from driving and convenience to battery maintenance and some of these tips you may already know but I think there will probably be one or two that you haven't already heard of right so there's going to be lots to get through so please do hit that like button show me some of your virtual love support for Tesla navs please hit the Subscribe button so you continue on its EV Journey with me finally just hit the notification Bell so you're notified of all my upcoming electric car videos as soon as they're available alright folks let's fully get into it firstly we almost admit we've all kept a wheel at some point me and my wife are pretty good these days but at the beginning my 18-inch wheels got beaten pretty bad and that's mostly on the driver but not defecting any blame here but the 18 inch rim design can easily be scuffed against herbs due to the alloy sticking out ever so slightly and I believe it's designed that way so the Aero covers can physically just click into that rim for a smooth and slick and efficient airflow surface and whilst it can improve your range by up to 10 whether you utilize the area covers or replace it with a Aero wheel kit like so that Rim Edge is forever going to be exposed and it's going to be easy to curb and this is why I highly recommend getting protection for your Tesla Model 3 Alloys if you opt for the 18 inch wheels and this is the free Tire Choice in the configurator by the way and so I suspect it's probably going to be the most popular choice for that very reason that and obviously the range boost I guess so what is my solution to the care brush third-party wheel cap covers I've included a dedicated video not top right on the screen now and that video is in the video description as well but these black wheel trims you can see now are a sets of third-party wheel covers you can buy a variety of different covers from different retailers but what I like most about these is that they look incredibly authentic because the design matches the naked alloy design but just matte black instead that and the wheel covers are incredibly affordable it's about 10 of the 19-inch option alloy choice and it acts as a buffer for your Alloys because the cover gives an intro size worth of protection over that part that sticks out and I guess every inch counts right now I installed these at the beginning of last year and after an accidental bump against a high curb in a parking lot instead of raging at the damage caused I was able to purchase a replacement cover and fit it myself it's super simple and the matte black cover makes the Tesla stand out to the givers on the road therefore this gives your Alloys a layer of protection it looks great and it costs a fraction of the 19-inch wheel upgrade if I ever get a new model 3 I'll be sure to get these again and if you have a model y you can also get similar covers for the 19-inch wheels too so my second tip for existing or new owners of either the 3 or the Y is to do with range display improvements I always always advocate for displaying your battery capacity as a percentage rather than Miles as it is definitive for example if it's at hard capacity it's 50 remaining this is the same as how your iPhone displays the battery it's a percentage rather than talk time and that's because the power meaning is definitive but how you use that over the course of the next journey is so subjective to your driving behavior the weather the road consistent conditions etc etc therefore if you have range anxiety or if your range is not where you'd expect it to be or you feel the accuracy is off don't worry your Tesla probably isn't a dirt battery faults are rare and you have an 8 year battery warranty that's obviously subject to some mileage limits too the mileage displayed is taken from the US EPA rated range for those in Europe this will mean a display range of slightly lower than the wltp rates range but it should be more representative of real-world conditions and so if the accuracy is off by quite a bit it could be because you have removed your error covers which will affect the vehicle's efficiency and if so you can improve the accuracy on the onboard computer again if you change some settings on the car to account for this external change once you've made this change the Tesla app and the main display will also show the car without the wheel covers like mine currently does so my point is always use percentage remaining and not miles remaining and this will really help you not overthink your remaining mileage and if you're doing going on lots of road trips you can leave it to navigation it's super accurate too and if you want to see an example of that you can look at one of my road trip videos on the top right of the screen now tip number three and it is related to tip number two if your car is showing higher than anticipated levels of degradation it doesn't necessarily mean that you need to Ring the Alarm Bells you can help your car and its battery management system recover some of those anticipated losses as should we say simply by driving your car battery down to 20 leave it for four hours ideally overnight and make sure centimeters are off it should then be in a deep sleep State then you can charge it all the way up to 100 taking every kilowatt hour of electricity possible you may then see the car reflect a slightly higher range due to the BMS balancing the sales better if your Tesla won't let you get to 100 there is another tip leave your test on a low state of charge for four to six hours at below 50 triumphs closer to 20 though but again make sure your centimeters off we do want that deep sleep State again do this a number of times over the year though even once a month if you don't do this normally this will help get the calibration in tip shop shape over time if you're still experiencing issues do seek help by some internet tickets via your Tesla app tip number four can save you a lot of time with superchargers and is probably more relevant to new and upcoming owners whenever you plan to charge make sure you navigate to your nearest supercharger because this will give you quicker charging speeds and shorter charging stop the reason is quicker is because the car preconditions a battery to the optimum temperature before you arrive and this used to be exclusive to this Tesla superchargers but an over-the-air update now enables this Tesla feature to be used at some non-tesla rapid charges like ionity using navigation will give you the best possible charging session and the screen will tell you when it's preconditioning as the navigation will know your distance plus it can extract additional energy before you reach your destination enabling a faster charging speed my fifth tip is more for when you're planning to leave your vehicle for a long period of time mostly useful if you're going on holiday for a long period of time without your model 3 or model Y and if you are you should take into account that if the car is not plugged into a charger as a guide your car will use roughly one percent of battery a day also don't forget to manually turn off Sentry mode and do not check your phone up as this will lead to more severe usage if so however it's useful to know as a rough guide and I've actually experienced much lower energy consumption over a week of no usage than the guide stated but one percent is a good guide just to work with you can take a look at the video on the screen now for a full Lowdown as a live example if you wanted ultimately if you can it is more ideal if you can have it sit around 80 or lower then have it plugged in for the duration and then just let the car suck on the energy whenever it wants to just like a baby with its mummy swiftly moving on to the final Point charging costs particularly home charging if you own an EV some utility providers allow you to access exclusive rates that are not available to the general public this effectively delivers you a much better rate overnight so when you charge your car is usually heavily discounted for a number of hours now if you're Savvy like me you can also use this times charger over devices around the house and set the dishwasher to come on during that set time in the night and that's because the day rate of electricity is then higher than normal with today's electricity prices it's not always straightforward Choice as it used to be so do weigh up with how much energy you utilize during a day and to help I did a video on home charging to give you an idea of what an Eevee tariff compared to a standard fixed price could be as you could be paying like three times than what you do now to charge that car it's definitely going to be worth some research to see if it works out better for your circumstances but just having the EV effectively opens up tariffs not available to the general public so it's always just worth considering if it can save you some extra pennies or extra money along the way so to conclude these are my reasonable tips that have helped me get the most for my electric car hopefully this helps you get the most out of your Tesla whether it's coming to terms of how to display range in your Tesla or how to improve battery health it's these small and subtle tips that help you appreciate and take your ownership experience to another level so what do you guys think did you know all these tips I reckon there's definitely a few more tips I didn't mention that does definitely deserves the mention so let me know in the comment section below if you know any more significant ones if you're not sure what to comment and you want to show me
