Singapore is a beautiful yet costy country to pay a visit! In this video we show you famous delicious affordable food you can find in this expensive city! Our first place is a hawker stall with Michelin star from 2016 to 2019 With the starting meal costing just $3.50sgd, they were the cheapest Michelin star meal in the world! The Soya Sauce Chicken is their specialty Though the rice is the cheapest, we ordered the noodle dish for $0.50sgd more The owner of the store, Hawker Chan is making the dish! Delicious sauce coats the chewy thin egg noodles! The chicken is both moist and juicy too! A tasty flavor of soy sauce seeps through the skin! Amazing! A cheap and delicious meal! Our next stall sells Putu Piring They are steamed rice flour kueh with various sweet fillings We are going to order their specialty filling Gula Melaka And a special Durian one! They are on the Michelin guide and have been shown on many tv shows Best eaten hot on the spot! One piece is like a mini disc cake There are pandan leaf are added for separation and fragrance While theres grated coconut to provide a creamy and milky taste with each chew The results of Gula Melaka is a soft lightly sweet ‘flour’ met with melty crunchy roasted sugar! I do agree this is a recommended filling to order! The durian on the other hand uses a smooth puree Real durian was mixed in so it was delicious! The smell is very potent though and may scare off foreigners! Next is a local cafe famous for their coffee and bread You can find many outlets throughout Singapore A full set is from $6.30sgd onwards A set will come with a pair of eggs The drink is a black coffee mixed with condensed milk You will get sweet and thick local coffee here There will be 4 pieces of their signature toast Which comes half the thinness of regular bread Inside will have a slab of butter and Kaya (coconut jam) It is sweet and buttery yet somehow very light! The eggs given are soft boiled There’s dark soy sauce and white pepper for you to season them with Though some foreigners may these eggs too raw.. Us local love it! Savory and creamy goodness! It also taste very good with the toast! An added sweetness and texture! The iced coffee had an added charge of $1sgd It is the same as the hot version but it spent a few seconds in a blender and ice is added The bread for this set is steamed rather then toasted/grilled It is super soft and fluffy! A more chewier version than their signature toast Inside is also butter and Kaya You also get soft boiled eggs for this set The steamed bread will soak this up more They are both a great tea break snack! Next we have a Hawker stall located in a coffeeshop Famous for a noodle dish called Bak Chor Mee They have been awarded the Michelin Star from 2016 to 2022 Established in 1932, it has over 90 years of history Prices start from $6 to $10sgd Meatballs and dumplings Liver They have 3 types of noodle to choose from and we ordered Kway Teow and Mee Kia With extra chili and vinegar Our meal of Bak Chor Mee! Bak Chor means minced meat and Mee means noodle The Bak Chor Mee is known for its signature vinegar and chili sauce Mee Kia (yellow thin egg noodles) Noodles are coated with their signature sauce which is tangy, savory and spicy! There is minced pork Dumpling with minced meat filling Meat ball Liver Ti Poh (dried sole fish) Slice pork And pork lard The dry version also comes with a bowl of pork soup with seaweed It is the same dish just different noodle Kway Teow (white flat rice noodles) Both are delicious! This would be for people who prefer a softer noodle Our next place is an Indian restaurant That serves Vegetarian food Their rice meals and Dosai are said to be World famous! These meals are below $10usd You can get plain water for free here Our feast is here! The portion is really huge! Poori It is a deep fried poofy bread that is soft, fluffy and chewy Papadam is a crispy lentil cracker We just mix the various Dhals into the rice to enjoy this For the vegetable we have fried bananas, a hybrid between a sweet potato and brinja! And this would be Avial cooked with Moringa Pods Creamy and tangy, it was delicious! There is also Rasam, a spicy soup Vadai Then we have stir fried cabbage with shredded coconut And onions in a yogurt sauce There is also a tub of yogurt for you to flavor your rice The paper Dosai is super large and super thin! You get the same vegetables as the Rice Meal Along with Chutneys For this we just peel and dip! It offered a Papadam too Overall this is a more lighter meal then the rice For me I am a paper Dosai fan! Lastly we both have a sweet pudding called Payasam to end the meal It included had peanuts, rice noodles and sago Very nutty and sweet! The last restaurant can be found throughout Singapore They sell Bak Kut Teh which is a pork rib soup dish They have been part of the Michelin guide for many years Certain outlets even have lunch time deals during weekdays! Cost from $13.50sgd onwards! A full set meal! A total of 3 different lunch sets to choose from For seasoning we have sliced red chilis That we can mix with a dark sweet sauce And their signature chili sauce which is slightly spicy and sweet You get treated well here with servers helping you cover your bags with a cloth! And also there are wet wipes Our drinks have come It is a freshly brewed iced tea with honey It doesn’t take long for our food to be served They arrive piping hot! This set is their signature pork ribs While this set has pork tenderloin slices Which are bite size pieces A very soft and tender meat In broth you can find a piece of lettuce And a clove of garlic It is an easy meat to eat without bones We have a plate of braised peanuts with this set They are cooked til very soft and taste sweet Ok back to the pork ribs set! We normally get 3 pieces of ribs in a regular size soup It much more fatty and juicy then the tenderloin slices So good! I love it! Salty vegetables is the side for this Meant to be eaten with the white rice, it is both salty and tangy Can say the broth is very peppery! You get top up with fresh new hot broth whenever its low! The plate of You Tiao (fried dough fitters) is perfect for that! Just throw it into the soup to soak up all the flavors! Overall the Bak Kut Teh here is the best! The meat is so tender and it falls off the bone so cleanly! Definitely one of the most delicious food in Singapore! It is so good it leaves you feeling loved!
