hey everyone welcome back to the crafty couple today we've got 54 dollar tree wood diys so this is a compilation video of previous projects that we have used dollar tree wood to create these and if you're looking for inspiration this is a perfect video there's a ton of options a lot of different decor styles so i hope you guys enjoy it let's jump in and get started [Music] to start this project we're going to be using one of these dollar tree bases now these come in two different sizes this is the longer vase the bigger one and then these are going to be the 12 inch wood dowels from dollar tree as well and i believe you'll need five packs to complete this project the first thing that i'm going to do is start gluing these all the way around and try to get this lined up with the bottom as best as possible and then having this go straight up vertically if you have it tilted a little bit as you go around that could start to get worse and then it won't line up when you get to the back and the easiest way i found was to line these up on the bottom of the vase and then glue those as close as you can to the previous wood piece now when i did this i did end up with a little bit of a gap in the back but i really don't mind that since you're not going to see it you can just simply arrange this to where that is in the back once we have all those pieces glued down we can move on to staining this piece now i'm using that early american stain from minwax and i didn't worry about going all the way down or making it look perfect towards the bottom since i am going to be painting it now if you wanted to you could stain this whole piece or even paint it one solid color or different colors i'm doing gold along the bottom as you can see here so on the back i did a little test spot because i wasn't sure that the tape was going to be able to get into those little creases so you can see this isn't a completely flat surface because we're using those dowels and i wasn't sure if the paint was going to bleed underneath there so it actually worked out just fine i would suggest though when you're painting this try and paint downwards instead of spraying up towards the tape because then it might run underneath there that's what i did and it seemed to work out just fine so go ahead and run your tape all the way around and press it down firmly and you should be just fine i also put a bag over it and then taped it again that way i don't have to worry about taping all the way up the bag will cover that and then i'm going to use the rust-oleum gold spray paint to go ahead and spray paint the bottom of this and if you don't want to use the gold you're more than welcome to use something different i was thinking about doing the black i really like the wood and black combinations but i feel like we do that quite often so i wanted to do something a little bit different with the gold and that's really all there is it's a very simple project but i think in the end it's absolutely stunning and it could go with like mid-century modern a modern boho but depending on how you did style it you could use it in a lot of different decor options for this project i actually saw this on instagram from alison yolanda and i will link her instagram below but i'm just going to be grabbing these tumbling tower blocks and putting it in this shape here and just gluing them together what i did was glue the two tumbling tower blocks together first and then i will be gluing all of them together to give it more of that structure now that those are all glued together it's time to glue the ends together to make it have that cute base for our planter i think this is a really cute design these could be really really cute coasters you can make it into a really cool wall decor piece i just love the design of how these tumbling tower blocks went together now i'm going to be grabbing four more tumbling tower blocks and gluing them on to the side so i went on the second one in and glued it about two thirds of the way up so there's a little bit at the top left and then i'm going to be doing that again so you can see it's the second tumbling tarot block in and i'm going to be gluing it there then i just took some early american stain from minwax to finish it up this is what it looks like after it's stained i think it came out really really cute and if you want to keep it all dollar tree i'm going to be using this glass and spray painting it black and you can put succulents or other things like that inside in the end i decided to decorate it with something that i got from the target dollar spot that i thought was super super cute for this project i'm actually going to be duping something that i saw from target it was sixty dollars and i'm going to be making this between two and three dollars so i grabbed all of these dials from a dollar tree they're the 12 inch dials and i will also be using six inch dowels as well at first i was kind of spreading them apart because that's how i thought i wanted the design but when i started putting it together i really liked how it looked when they were a lot closer together what i did was start with kind of my middle and so i laid out the four vertically and the three horizontally and try and keep the ones that are horizontal on top and the ones that are vertical on bottom it just makes it look a lot better and then i just started gluing them all together try and have at least two points of contact when you are gluing on the dowels this helps it just stay together a lot better i did switch between the 12 inch dowels and the 6 inch dowels kind of just whatever you like and then i spray painted it with this krylon fusion matte black spray paint you can also paint it gold but i loved the way it looks in black to start we're going to be using these dollar tree tumbling tower blocks and if you're using these smaller packs you will need three of those and if you're using the larger one you can get by with two so the first thing i'm doing here is gluing three together at a time and you will want to do that 30 times so essentially we're gonna have 30 of these 3p squares and then once we have those all glued together we can start gluing those squares together making a row so to start creating the shape of the tray i'm going to alternate these so my first one what i'm doing here is going to essentially be a vertical block and then the next one horizontal so we're going to create a design throughout this entire tray by kind of going back and forth alternating these vertically and horizontally so they're not all going the same direction i think it gives a pretty cool little pattern with these little blocks and it's still really easy to do you don't have to cut anything and it gives it that unique design so for this tray what i ended up doing was a row of six by five so we're going to have six long and then five tall and that's going to create our tray size now this is totally up to you you can do smaller or you could do a lot bigger if you wanted to it's just however big you want to make this trade now once we have that first row complete we can move on to adding all the other pieces you could do this a couple ways if you wanted to you could glue all the rows just like i did the first one and then glue those together however where these don't always match up in size i wanted to glue them individually from here so that i could try and fit it as tightly as possible if you were to glue all of them in a straight row you might have some parts that just don't fit as well and in the end the tray didn't fit perfectly anyway just because of the different sizes of the blocks so don't stress out too much if it's not perfect i think it still looks really good in the end and then what i'm going to do here is use this early american stain from minwax and go ahead and stain the entire thing and i ended up using some wood glue on the back of this just kind of put it through the seams and then spread it all over the back to give it a little bit more strength as well once we have the base complete we can move on to the handles and these are going to be really simple this is what it's going to look like when it's glued together so for mine i needed five blocks on top five on bottom and then in between i'm using these little wood cubes from dollar tree as well so i'm gonna do is just glue them end on in until i have that row of five do another row of five and then i will glue those together with the two squares one thing to keep in mind too when you're working with the hot glue is you don't need a ton to get these to stick together if you're using too much it's going to actually come out of those seams and then it's going to be on the surface so that creates an issue if you're trying to stain these pieces if there's glue on top it's not going to stain the wood and you're going to see those gaps and it's just not going to look very finished so if you're staining just keep that in mind try and keep the glue to a minimum that way you don't have to worry about that if you're painting it doesn't really matter because obviously you can paint over the glue in the wood and that doesn't matter as much as if you're staining once we have those assembled we can move on to painting i decided to paint mine with the matte black spray paint from krylon and right there i'm just showing you a little bit of that wood glue on the back now the next part to kind of finish this up is to just add those handles on each side and i'm just going to simply use some hot glue to attach those again a really simple project but i think in the end it looks very pretty high-end and can go with a lot of different decor options so one thing i would suggest if you're wanting something a little bit nicer you could still do the pattern with the tumbling tower blocks but if you wanted to use like some square wood dowels for the handles i think those would hold up a little bit better and they would look cleaner than the tumbling tower blocks so that's something that we have thought about doing let us know in the comments if you guys would like to see us try some a little bit higher end projects with more raw material from like lowe's or if you like strictly the dollar tree stuff we would love to do some of these similar projects but make them a look a little bit more high-end with some of those nicer items so let us know if that's something you guys would be interested in seeing for this project i did make something pretty similar a little while ago but i'm going to be using these craft sticks from dollar tree and these beads from amazon i didn't know exactly how many i needed so i kind of just grabbed a bunch out for the one that i did last time i did leave the edges curved this time i wanted them cut so have one that's kind of a template one and just go off of that same one so that they are all the same length assemble it together you'll grab four craft sticks and glue them in a square in the end you will want eight squares total now it is time to place them together so i grabbed four of the squares and lined them up like this so that the pointy parts are touching and then i'm gluing the second one on top of these two and then the fourth one i'm gluing on top as well now that the middle section is done we just need to add two to the bottom so add a little bit of glue and hook it on to the second one in from the left and then you're going to be adding one in the second one in from the right so that you have two just in the middle then you're going to be doing the exact same thing for the top with that done we're going to add the beads that i got from amazon on all the points just in the middle i didn't add them to the outside edges can't believe you love me oh this project is actually a west elm dupe i believe it was around 170 and i'm making it for only two dollars so what i did was grab these rectangle wood planks from dollar tree and then i'm using these from another project from this video i'll link it right here they are not quite half they're kind of a weird length but i always try and reuse things so that don't have any wood go to waste so you can look in the last video that i linked up above and it shows you about how long they are so if you made that and you have the leftovers this works perfect i am just grabbing two of the rectangle pieces and gluing them together at the ends and you will make two sets of these and then we will put hot glue all along the side of one of them and put it directly on top of the other wood piece try and make sure that it gets really really close to the other side of the wood and that it matches up really well because we want this to look very high end and then i am grabbing two of those square pieces and putting them on the sides if you don't have these already made just go on to the side and trace it it just needs to be exactly the same size to get this to fit perfectly we are going to put the wood on the outside not on the inside and plus it just looks cleaner now that we have this all assembled we're going to go ahead and stain with the early american stain from minwax since the 12 inch dials aren't long enough from dollar tree i'm going to be using this extra long skewer from dollar tree they're kind of coming out now since it's more of the grilling type season all you will want to do is just hold it across and then draw a little line i'm using doll clippers here to cut the skewer then i spray painted the skewer with the metallic gold spray paint from rust-oleum and when it was dry it's time to add it to our shelf so all you're going to do is turn it and add two little dots of hot glue on each side and then stick the skewer in to hang it i decided just to do two picture hangers on at the back i'm sure there's probably a better way to do this but this is the way that i found works pretty well and then i decorated it with a bunch of cute things that we got from the target dollar spot for this project you will need a plunger from dollar tree just go ahead and twist off the bottom to make the feathers we are going to be using this decorative nautical rope and you will need to untwist the three parts once you've done that you will have these three separate piles we'll just need one for the first feather to make these feathers you will make a loop just how long you want your feather to be i would recommend taping them at the top and at the bottom it does help a lot more with putting these on now i'm just measuring how long i want the actual feather part 2b everything will be folded in half so just remember that now i'm just getting four strands and cutting it so to make them you will grab one of the strands you will fold it in half and you will put it underneath the rope that you put on the bottom then you will grab one of the other strands also fold it in half and you will put it through the loop and then the loop of that one that you are holding you will put the ends of the other string and then grab the two ends and just pull it tight you will just keep doing that all the way down now grab a wire brush or something similar and you will brush out these strands once they are brushed out as much as you can cut it in a feather type shape so smaller at the bottom and then go a little bit smaller at the top the widest part is kind of in the middle once you cut it a little bit shorter you will want to brush it out once more i cut the end on the plunger with this black and decker jigsaw you'll just want to cut that off so both of the sides are even and then i attached the small feather just looping it around now doing the same process as before i am starting the feather a little bit lower this time and i will be making it longer and then i cut this one a little bit thinner than the last one this will be the last one made from this nautical rope and it will also be the smallest for this whole thing i only use the one package of the nautical row you can leave it just these three but i felt like it needed a little bit more in the middle so i will be grabbing this gray yarn from dollar tree and just making two more of the feathers if you are ever looking for a list of products that we use just go ahead and check the description we have all the products that we used for everything in this video and also links to help find them you can leave the plunger just the normal color i thought after i hung them that it needed to be stained and this is how it looks all finished let me know what you think in the comments for this project we're going to be creating these little hanging wall planters using some dowels this uh plunger handle and then also these little wood boxes from dollar tree so you will need one plunger and then six of these little 12 inch dowels and then three of those wood boxes i'm going to go ahead and start by spray painting the plunger handle and the dowels with that matte black spray paint from krylon now while we're waiting for the paint to dry we can go ahead and move on to staining our boxes and you'll want to keep the little inserts that go in here because you can definitely use those for other crafts and then what i'm using here is the early american stain from minwax go ahead and stain all of these the inside and outside for the inside though you don't have to go all the way down and get all of it anytime we can save product by just doing what we need to we like to do that so if you want to and have that full complete look you can but we're going to be putting stuff in there so it won't really matter because you're not going to see the bottom of that anyway once everything has dried we can move on to assembling everything so what i'm going to do is take one of the dowels i'm going to run a little line of hot glue on the edge there and then we're going to glue these vertically so you want to try and line that up with the side of the box and then the bottom of it and then we're going to do the same thing on the other side so you want to do this on all three of our wood boxes we're going to be gluing two of those dowels going vertical once we've glued everything on our boxes we can move on to how we're gonna hang this on the wall and we're gonna be using this plunger handle and then some of this suede leather i believe we got it from hobby lobby um maybe like five to eight dollars and it comes with quite a bit of it so i just cut a little section off here and then i'm going to measure to the center and cut that in half so that we have two separate pieces to hang on both sides of the plunger handle and so just go ahead and cut that in half and then here in a little bit we'll show you how we're going to hang that next what we want to do is find the center of our handle so that we can glue our first box on there it ended up being about eight and a quarter inches so i just drew a little line with the pencil and then i'm just going to eyeball it here and try and get this first box as center as i can with that line and then i put a little bit of glue on each end and then just laid this handle on top of it and pressed down until that was firm and then from here i can just kind of space out everything i laid my leather strip on the end and then i'm going to line up my other two boxes so that the spacing is pretty equal it doesn't have to be absolutely perfect but by doing this you can get it really symmetrical if you want to do measurements you definitely can do that i think it's just a little bit extra work and you really won't notice it um in the long run so again i just put a few uh dabs of hot glue on the ends there and then i'm going to lift up the handle and then just place it on there and then try and get the bottom of each box lined up with the other boxes and then the gap in between the same as well that way when you're looking at it it all looks pretty uniform and symmetrical and then i'm gonna add just a little bit of hot glue here on these seams just to give it a little bit of added strength ultimately they're not going to be holding much weight so you should be fine and again if you guys want to use something stronger for a more permanent hold you can definitely do that maybe some wood glue or e6000 we like to use the hot glue and it usually works out just fine for us and holds up pretty well so to give it some volume and less weight what i'm doing here is just adding in a couple paper towels kind of roll them up and put them in the box and then we're going to put some rocks on top of those that way it's covering up the paper towel but we're not filling it completely with rocks and adding all that weight and unnecessary product and then i'm just using a couple of succulents and air plant here to go in these you could do these however you wanted to if you wanted to do a little bit more modern you could do that farmhouse i think this would also look good you could put maybe some like lambs here or something in there this really could go with a lot of different decor styles just depending on how you want to decorate it and then we're just going to loop these and then push the thumbtack through those and then the tacks will then go into the wall again there's really not a lot of weight to this so you shouldn't have to worry about those falling out for this project we're going to be using these two little canvas frames from dollar tree and i already removed the canvas from these all we need is the wood frame we're going to be painting these matte black now while that's drying we're going to go ahead and stain these little craft boxes these are the inside boxes there is an outside kind of shell and we don't need that for this project you can if you want use the little bit bigger size these are just the ones that i had left over so i wanted to use these for project and i'm using the early american stain from minwax and once we've given our paint and our stain a little time to dry we can move on to gluing these together all i'm going to be using is some hot glue from dollar tree to connect these and i'm just going to eyeball it so that this is going to be in the center here and this is held up just fine for us we're not really putting a lot of weight in here if you are looking to add something heavier then you may want to use like e6000 or even a wood glue but the hot glue works just fine for us and this is a really simple project but i think it's very pretty you could go with kind of an industrial modern look with this and that's really all there is to this project i did add a little bit more hot glue to the back here just for some added strength for this piece we're going to start with two of these 8 by 10 canvas frames go ahead and remove that canvas and we're just going to be using the wood now we have a lot of people ask where we get our inspiration on our crafts this happens to be one where i was simply just sitting and it popped into my head hey it might be kind of cool to combine a couple of these frames with a bowl make like a planter or something like that so that's where this came from now we do get a lot of inspiration though from from like pinterest or some high-end stores online so if you guys haven't followed our pinterest account make sure go do that we will save a lot of pins for us to kind of recreate in the future so if you want ideas there's a lot of good ones that we're going to be showing on there so we'll have a link for our pinterest account down below make sure to go check that out and for this one what i'm doing here is marking the center of the frames and i held up the other frame so that i could get the width on there and then i'm going to go ahead and mark that on both sides here so that i can cut it and after we've marked that first frame we can go ahead and use a ruler line up the other frame and then just continue those lines to the next one that's going to give us the area that we're going to be cutting out and i'm just going to use a jigsaw to cut those pieces out and right here when you are cutting you want to make sure that these are clamped down or held down tightly you don't want to cut it like that i was just simply showing you uh where i was going to be cutting so make sure when you if you are using a jigsaw these are secured in place when you're cutting and then once those pieces are removed those will simply slide together like that really simple and easy and then i'm going to use some of this hot glue to connect those pieces now that we have all that glued together we can move on to staining and if you guys have watched our channel for a while you know we love the early american stain from minwax i think it's a really solid color for a lot of different decor options we do want to expand that a little bit so if you have a stain preference that you really like let us know in the comments what colors and brands that you like to go with so that we can start trying those out and then after we've stained that piece we can move on to this bowl again it's from dollar tree and i'm going to paint that with the matte black paint and after that all we're going to do is add a little bit of hot glue on the wood here and go ahead and connect that a really simple project but i think it turned out really cool a little bit different and you can add some succulents or some other plants to kind of top this off when you're done this project is on tick tock from the user sad dad 2000 and i have absolutely fell in love with this project and i was so excited to make it all they did was grab this rectangle gift box from a dollar tree and then they used the 12 inch dowels from dollar tree as well to begin making this project all you will need to do is put the box on the side and make sure the back is facing you and start putting the dowels on two at the back i just used hot glue and that seemed to work perfect make sure when you're putting the dowels on that the very bottom of the dowel meets the very bottom of that top piece and that the very top of the dowel meets the very very top of what is going to be this shelf you can space them out however you want but i put them pretty close together once the whole back was done i'm going to go about three quarters of the way along the side if you want us to recreate one of your diys send us a dm on instagram this is how it's going to look finished before we spray paint and all i did was spray paint it all with the matte black spray paint from krylon and this is how it came out go give sada 2 000 tons of love on tick tock to start this one off we're going to be using this dollar tree cube and this dollar tree wooden ring and the first thing that we're going to do here is stain these separately using this early american stain and the reason that i like to say in some of these projects first is depending on where you're gluing it if you glue these first the stain won't be able to soak into the wood in those spots so you're going to be left with bare wood spots underneath the glue and then stain spots and it just doesn't look very good next thing that we're gonna do here is glue these together i'm just using some hot glue from dollar tree i have my glue gun on high heat and then i'm just gonna glue that right in the middle and then the last part of this project after we have those stained and glued together is adding a command strip here on the back now this one was a little bit long so i'm just cutting this down to size so that it doesn't stick out on the sides but this is a really easy way since this is not going to weigh a lot and i'm most likely just going to put like some kind of plant stem in there it's not going to weigh a lot so i don't have to worry about this falling off due to weight and this project i'm just showing you one but i think this would look really good with at least three or more covering up a bigger space on your wall for this project we're going to be using this little gift box from dollar tree and i'm going to start by spray painting with this matte river rock spray paint from krylon and then what we're trying to achieve here is kind of a concrete look and you'll need two paints i'm using white and ink chalk paint from waverly you could probably just use a white and a black acrylic paint i don't think it would really matter this is just what we have and then the next part that i'm gonna do here is use this sponge to get a really watered down white color you don't want to just go on with straight paint it'd be way too heavy we want to lightly dab this on here and give it a little bit of extra texture and then you can use an opposite side of the sponge to lift up any extra or parts of the paint that's just too heavy that we don't want on there you can also use kind of a paper towel like that and then also what i did after i did the white all the way around that's when i'm gonna go in and add the black and do the exact same thing both of those colors together on top of this matte river rock i think looks really really close to a concrete look now while our paint's drying we can move on to the legs here i'm going to spray paint these gold and these are just a little six inch dowels from dollar tree and then we're going to glue these on the corners here now what we want to do is glue it down on one of these corners skip a corner and then glue on the next one so there should be three total and then they're gonna alternate where we glue those down and for this project it's really simple there's not a lot to it all we're using are the dowels and then this little gift box painting it and then gluing these on here i'd say probably the most difficult part is the painting process but that really isn't that hard in itself as you kind of get more comfortable with it you'll get the hang of how to apply the paint with the sponge and that's really all there is to it i think it turned out really high-end and modern [Music] okay for this project we're going to be creating a really simple planter using these wooden crates from dollar tree the first thing that we're going to do is stain two of them with this early american stain from minwax and you want to make sure that you're getting the inside and the outside since you will be able to see into these a little bit once we have those stained we can move on to painting this third one and i'm just going to be using this ink chalk paint from waverly any black paint really will work for this though if you are using this ink though i would water it down it'll make it a lot easier to paint this once we have that painted and the other two stained we can go ahead and assemble these and the first thing that we're going to do is take this bottom piece which is the black one and we're going to put a little bit of hot glue all the way around the top and then we'll take one of our stain pieces and glue that on top of that one once we have our first stained crate glued on there we can move on to adding our second and again all we're going to be doing is adding some glue on the top and then gluing it on top there a really really simple project but i think it looks absolutely beautiful when you're done this could go with modern industrial kind of rustic or if you wanted to do more of uh some white paint with the stain and do some distressing definitely could go with farmhouse or modern farmhouse and then lastly all i'm going to be doing is adding some of this onion grass from dollar tree i cut the stems off just so it would fit a little bit easier and not as tall and then i just placed three of these in the back row that you can see here and then three in the front and fan them out a little bit and that's really all there is to this again a very very simple project for this project it ended up so cute so i'm so excited to show you how i did it i started with this five dollar mirror from of course the target bullseye playground and then this wood piece from dollar tree this is a dupe from something that i saw on pinterest i do believe the one that's like 350 something is quite a bit bigger but i loved the style i thought it was so cool so what i did was with this piece from dollar tree just the wood i decided to sand it just to get all of this winter's kind of out it was pretty rough but i ended up just sanding it and it looked so much better and i'm going to be using a 6000 any time i've used hot glue it does not stick to glass at all or mirror like you know it just doesn't work so what i did was i measured out about four inches on each side made a little mark and then i used my e6000 make sure you're in a really well ventilated area when you do this also try to use the least amount of e6000 you can just because when you do clamp it on to the mirror it will spread slightly so i put it down where my marks were and then i'm going to be using just these little clamps we got from walmart and i let it sit for 24 hours also just since you can see it all what do you guys think of our new set we are so excited to have it all set up like this i feel like the camera angle is a lot better and i feel like you can see the projects a lot better let me know in the comments below after it has been 24 hours i took off the clamps and it is perfectly secured on there and i think it came out extremely cute for the backing instead of gluing like a picture hanger on the back i'm going to be using command strips and i've absolutely loved using these these ones hold up to 17 pounds i believe which is plenty for this mirror so i'm going to be putting one on this side and one on the other side and then you just take off the sticky piece on the other side and put it directly on the wall so you can get it nice and even you don't have to stress about nails so i'm super excited about using these for this project you will need two of the 6x8 canvases the easiest way that i have found to get the canvas off is to take a flathead screwdriver and pry up all the staples and then grab pliers and pull them off [Music] once you take the canvas off you'll be left with these two wooden frames i drew a straight line at the bottom and that's where we're going to cut so that the ends are flat what we use to cut all our wood is this black and decker jigsaw and there's a link in the description below for this this is what you'll be left with after you cut and we will be staining and gluing these together you'll just want to sand down the end just a little bit and go in with the dark walnut minwax stain and this is what it looks like after you've stained [Music] now we just need to hot glue both of the ends together to create a backing for this i just grabbed a black piece of poster board from dollar tree and i traced the inside and i just cut it out then to create the design we'll be grabbing these craft sticks from dollar tree cut off the curved end on one side of a lot of these this is the pattern that i am going for you can do whatever pattern you would like for this and then i just started hot gluing them onto the poster board and the pattern that i liked [Music] for the small gaps just cut the crafting sticks to size [Music] [Music] for all the ones that i've laid down so far i'm going to be painting them with the waverly chalk paint in the color ink [Music] then i painted four of the crafting sticks white also by waverly [Music] and then i stained two of them now it's time to hot glue the white ones on [Music] then you'll go in with the stained ones [Music] and then the white ones once again to finish it off i just lined up the crafting sticks how i liked the end and then i'm staining all the rest [Music] now lay the frame on top and we'll be tracing all around the outside so that we know where to cut [Music] then cut on your lines all the way around [Music] to finish it off we just need to hot glue the corners of the frame and put it on top if you have any leftover on the sides just cut those as well we're going to be creating the jewelry and accessory shelf and organization and we're going to use six of these dollar tree pallets and then i decided to stain them with ipswich pine stain give it a little bit of a darker color but still keep it a natural looking wood once we have those stained we can move on to connecting all of our pieces and we're gonna glue it on just like this so we're gonna have the bottom piece and then the top piece that goes vertical we're gonna glue on top of there now if you would like to you can always use a stronger glue we use the hot glue for time purposes you could also even add a little staple in the back to connect these for added strength so i would recommend doing that for a longer hold and then after we've connected those two pieces we're going to simply repeat that process but i'm going to glue the next pieces onto those that we already glued together and then we'll go ahead and glue all six pieces together [Music] [Music] once we have all of our pieces glued together you could leave it just like this as a floating shelf to put little decor pieces on it but i wanted to take it a little bit further so i'm using one package of these suction cup hooks and we're just going to go ahead and remove the hook part from the suction cups we won't need those suction cups just the hooks it does come in a pack of nine but i only ended up using eight of them and i spray painted all of them gold this next step i would do before spray painting though so you can avoid wiping off some of that spray paint what you want to do is go ahead and take some pliers and bend the top of that back that's the part that we're going to actually glue onto our shelf i decided to put it in each of these little spaces that's why i used eight of them total and then as you can see here we're just gonna glue right here that part that we bent we're gonna place it up and under there and glue it on the bottom [Music] to start this vase we're going to be using one of these dollar tree vases and then one of these 12 inch wood dowels also from dollar tree i marked it at two inches and then another four inches and then three inches and then i'm going to use these dog toenail clippers to go ahead and cut this now i've seen a lot of vases that look really high-end and absolutely beautiful while scrolling online or like on pinterest and i knew i had to recreate one it's very simple all we're doing here is taking a simple vase and creating a handle that's really sleek and modern so for that handle as you can see here we're starting to form that with that wood dowel so here's kind of the shape of the handle now you could leave it like this if you wanted to however i think if we cut this at a little bit of an angle it's going to fit a lot better and make those seams not as noticeable so what i'm doing here is just cutting this bottom dowel at an angle where it meets with the second dowel and then also at the bottom where it meets up with the vase that's going to make it fit a lot more flush on the vase and then that second dowel and in the end once we glue it together look a lot more finished and sleek now that we have all those pieces cut out we can glue our handle together now i did want to let you know this handle is not meant to be used it's for decorative purposes only if you wanted to try and get something a little bit more solid you could use e6000 but honestly for me i'm going for the look i don't really care if the handle is functional so i'm just trying to make it look as high in and as good as possible but i did want you to let you know i didn't make this with the intention of the handle being used so all i'm using here is some hot glue we do like to use the hot glue from dollar tree so if you haven't tried it i would definitely recommend trying that out it seems to always work well for us and we've had a few people mention that their glue doesn't hold and always wanted to know what we use so definitely go out and try that if you have not and then when you're gluing this bottom part here you want to try and glue it so that it is going to match up with the top part here last thing you want to do is have it off to the side and then when you try to glue this onto the vase those aren't lining up and it can kind of be a little bit tricky after we have the handle completed we can move on to attaching it to the vase so same thing i'm just going to be using some hot glue i'm going to put a dab on the top and then on the bottom and then the top part you just want to try and line that up with the top of the vase so that those are flush together and then the last part of this project is to add some paint there's really nothing else to this it's a super simple project but in the end looks so high-end you know we love the matte black paint so that's what we're going to be using but as always guys feel free to customize this and use any kind of paint that you would like we'll grab these wood planks from dollar tree they are a newer item that i have noticed and they are at the crafter square dollar trees they come in a pack of six we will only be using five of them today so four of them will be the sides and then the fifth one we will be cutting in half just measure out the middle of one of the planks make a line and that's where we're going to cut what we used to cut all of our wood is this black and decker jigsaw we have really enjoyed it and it's very affordable and there's a link in the description for that below after you've cut you will just need to sand the edges when all that is complete we're going to start assembling the box so you'll take one of the smaller sides and put it onto one of the front pieces now you will just hot glue the two front pieces together to give it some extra support i grabbed these popsicle sticks from dollar tree and i just put some hot glue on there and i'm putting it on the inside of the front part then just add the other end [Music] then you will do the same thing for the other side so glue the two ends together and then put the two popsicle sticks on top [Music] and then you will just hot glue that part onto the rest of the box [Music] for the base you could definitely use more of those wood planks but i decided just to use some foam board so go ahead and line up the foam board with your box and just trace it out [Music] to stain everything i use this dark walnut stain by minwax i would love to hear in the comments below some of your favorite stains that you use to make the handles i'm using one of these 12 inch dowels from dollar tree and i'm going to measure at three and at six inches and that will be the actual handle part and then you will want to cut four smaller pieces just to put on the end of the handle so that it sticks out from the box the pieces don't matter too much in length just make sure that they are all the same size and that you sand them down and then we will just hot glue them on [Music] i decided to spray paint it with the krylon fusion gloss black spray paint while those are drying we're going to go ahead and put the base into the box so put hot glue all the way around and then just slide it into the base [Music] this is what the handles look like after the spray paint and i really liked how they turned out you can do these more of a metal color kind of whatever you feel like and then just hot glue those on as well [Music] i wanted the front to have a little bit more design to it so i'm putting it's going to say number one on the front this stencil is from dollar tree and i'll be painting all of it with the waverly chalk paint and the color ink if you are to do this i would choose just a different number in the end it ended up saying no one instead of number one and that kind of bugged me so i would choose just any other number to get the number portion i will be putting the n from one and the o also from one on there and then i just use the eye from nine for the little dot then i used just a different stencil that i had on hand to write box going vertically [Music] since this is more of a farmhouse design i went over the top just with some sandpaper to make it look more worn to fill the box i'm using these peonies that i got from amazon and there's a link in the description below for these a few people have mentioned that we should show how we put the flowers inside let me know in the comments if you like us showing how we arrange things or not also if you're ever wondering on all the products that we used just check out the description below and this is what the finished product look like this project was so easy i just grabbed these rectangle wood planks from dollar tree and i'm only going to be using three of them but you can make six of them if you would like i stain them all with the early american stain once that was done i just need to drill holes in all four of the corners so that we can add our rope i'm just adding the string that we had on hand it's kind of this off-white color i didn't do exact measurements but i just did it about how big i thought looked good and i cut two at the same size i did try to just push it into the slot but it didn't fit very well so when i did the second and the third one i kind of pushed it in with a mechanical pencil and that helped the string go through a lot easier once you get the string through tie two knots so that it doesn't come out and then loop it around to the same side and tie two knots as well and then do the exact same thing on the other side tie a string and have it loop two at the same side instead of opposite sides instead of using a nail i'm going to be using a hook in the wall and it's just going to hang on the wall just like this for this one we're going to be starting with this wood decor from dollar tree and i wanted this to be more modern so i'm going to remove the jute twine and we're going to fill in these holes you can just use some spackling put a little bit on there and then we'll send that down once it dries that way we can have a nice even surface that we can paint now the paint that i'm using is succulent from sherwin-williams and i mentioned this paint in a previous video we had been using it for furniture flipping and i would love to know if you guys like that kind of content let us know in the comments if you would like to see furniture flipping videos and how we've been able to make a little bit of side income from that as well after we have a couple coats of paint we can move on to staining these little wood boxes from dollar tree now i'm using two of them and i'm using the minwax stain in early american once our stain and paint is completely dry we can move on to gluing these i'm just gonna be using some hot glue and i liked this staggered look here i also think that it would look really pretty if one was on top and the bottom or if they were just next to each other side by side and to finish this project up we're going to just add a command strip on the back you could do some uh like picture hangers on here or even just screw it into the wall but this works really well this isn't a heavy piece so i'm just going to put one on here horizontally and then we can hang that up on the wall for this next project i will be using these craft sticks from dollar tree just lay them out in a diamond pattern and you can make as many diamonds as you want it's just about how long that you want it once they were all laid out i just separated the tops from the bottom one of them will be a template one so we will just hot glue that together and then i'm going to be using that one to make sure all the rest of them are the same size with all of those hot glue together just line them up how we had them before because we're going to start hot gluing them together so when i was putting this together i did spend quite a bit of time making sure they all kind of go the same way or like a certain pattern it really doesn't matter in the end because we will be putting tiny cubes over the top where they all connect so you won't even see that anyways when you're making any of our projects we use hot glue just for time purposes we both would recommend using a stronger glue like e6000 for any of our projects also if you are ever wondering what products we use there will be a list in the description below this is what it should look like after all four pieces are put together and i will be using these wood craft cubes from dollar tree just so that you can hang stuff on top of this i placed the craft cubes just everywhere that the craft sticks met and then i just hot glued them all onto those spaces when you glue them on just make sure that they are straight and not turned sideways this is what it looks like finished you can leave it this natural color or i am going to go ahead and stain it with this dark walnut stain let me know in the comments below if you prefer it just the natural wood or stained now that this is finished we just put nails under the top triangle areas and you can hang jewelry or plants or anything you'd like for this project we're going to start with these 12 inch dowels from dollar tree you'll need four of them and we're going to spray paint them matte black and then two of these crates also from dollar tree now i'm going to go ahead and glue these together and then stain them with early american stain and as always this is where you can customize it to fit your decor style if you'd like to change it up from what we're doing here so definitely feel free if you wanted to paint them or stain them something different that is totally up to you now one thing to keep in mind when you're working with these dollar tree items they're not always going to be the same size so i tried to get these to line up as perfectly as i could but it just wasn't working out one of them was a little bit bigger than the other so just try to get your projects as good as you can but don't stress over the little details sometimes it's just not going to work out and then once we have this all stained we can move on to adding our dowels when gluing the dowels i'm going to go ahead and use some hot glue and glue these on the sides and then you just want to line it up in the corner and i made sure that the top of the dowel was flush with the top of the crate and then we're going to glue these on all four sides now i went with the 12 inch dials i wanted to kind of create a taller planter where you could have some plants that draped down or if you wanted to you could also put some decor underneath this so you could definitely make this smaller maybe even use like the six-inch dials would work as well it really depends on how you want to go about this and how you want to style it but i think in the end the taller planter style really worked out especially for the plants that i decided to use i use kind of a hanging eucalyptus from ikea and then some ferns as well and i think it looks really really out we pretty leave this city let's drive to the open air yeah the countryside is for this project we're going to be creating a couple of wall decor pieces i guess you could kind of call them sconces it depends on how you want to decorate these but what we're going to start with is a couple of these boxes from dollar tree and then four of these pallets from dollar tree as well and what we're going to do is start by connecting two of these pallets i'm gonna use a couple of these craft sticks to glue these together and give it some more support so the first thing that i did here was take two of the craft sticks and glue these on the back side here where the there's kind of a cross piece of wood i'm gonna glue those in the middle and then on the outer two parts i'm going to cut a craft stick to length to fit in the gap here and glue them together kind of on that it's still on the back side but more on that front part so we have two different parts that are going to be glued together and this is going to help add some strength you don't need a lot of strength but you also don't want this just kind of wobbling around or falling apart and we're not really going to be putting a lot of weight in this anyway so that won't matter but you do want to make sure that it's a little bit more structurally sound the craft sticks also work perfect because of their size you could line them up with those vertical slats and glue them behind those so you don't see any of those from the back when you have this facing forward and then all we're going to do here is line up this wood box at the top of that back wood piece that's going horizontal and glue this on kind of in the middle and up from the bottom you could obviously glue this anywhere you wanted but i thought that was a good spot and then we're going to recreate the exact same thing using two other pallets and one more box and then what we're going to go ahead and do is stain both of them with the early american stain and this is probably my favorite project of the video it's so simple but i think looks absolutely amazing when it's done it looks really high-end you could decorate it with some succulents i again in the end went with kind of an air plant that we got from walmart for a couple dollars and then also that hanging eucalyptus from ikea and you could create multiple of these and put it on the same wall and it would look absolutely stunning let us for this sign we will be using two 8x10 canvases pry up the staples using a flathead screwdriver and then grab some pliers to pull them out i was originally going to make a bigger sign but for this you will only need two canvases and just mark right on one of the sides so that we can cut straight across for all of our cutting we use this black and decker jigsaw there's a link in the description below for this this is what it'll look like after you've cut off those pieces you'll want to just sand them down slightly it's time to flip them over now and hot glue the two ends together after gluing we will be stapling with this stanley staple gun staple on the back right where they meet and then you'll add two more staples on the front of the frame i will be staining everything with the minwax dark walnut stain if you are ever wondering what products we use how many just go ahead and check our description box now it's time to make the backing so grab a piece of white foam board from dollar tree place the frame on top and just trace on the outside do not use scissors on foam board it would just come out horrible use either a razor like this or some people use the back of a butter knife to give the foam board some texture and not look so just perfect i'm going to be painting it with the waverly white chalk paint i noticed once this was dry it gave it more of a wood look when that is completely dry you will just run hot glue all around the frame and stick your foam board on top this is the cute laundry sticker that i found from dollar tree i am absolutely obsessed with the new stickers that dollar tree is coming out with i measured a little bit to make sure it was center i mostly eyeballed it once i got the sticker off then just peel the sticker off and place on top i do wish that this sticker was a rub on transfer instead of an actual sticker it does leave a little bit of a border around the sticker but we will be going over top with mod podge so that it gives it more of a matte finish look just take a craft stick or anything similar just to get all the bubbles out and make sure it lays flat and like i said before i went over top with the matte mod podge for this project we are going to start with these wood planks from dollar tree and we will need two packs for this project we are going to start by laying them out and the very top one will be one of the sides the middle one will be the bottom and then the bottom one will be the other side to begin assembling i grabbed the middle piece and put hot glue on the side and then i put the back piece onto it and then we'll do the same thing for the front side so just put hot glue on that middle piece and put the front side on now to put the rest together grab that middle piece from the next section and glue it to the other middle piece then run hot glue on the bottom side and up the other and put that front piece on and you will just continue this process for the whole length of the shelf this is what it should look like after all the pieces are hot glued together but now we need to add some supports so i'll be grabbing these craft sticks from dollar tree and i'll be hot gluing them in between each of the sections on the bottom and the two sides then i went in with the minwax dark walnut stain and stained everything after i had stained everything i realized that one of the pieces the grain went the opposite way so i would just keep that in mind when you are putting it together and then that it needed just a little bit more support so i grabbed these jenga blocks they're called tumbling tower blocks at dollar tree and i will be gluing them where four pieces meet if you are to do this i would definitely do this before you stain it so go ahead and melt some of the glue if there is glue where you want to put that jingle block and then hot glue one of the sides and the bottom and place it in the corner i ended up using six of these jenga pieces so to attach this to the wall you can put some screws in the very back what i decided to do was grab some nautical rope from dollar tree and i'm going to be tying it at both ends just to give it more of a rustic farmhouse look once you've cut it to size you'll want to just take a lighter and burn off the ends just to make them more clean and then you will take twine and wrap out the top since making a knot with this nautical rope is really hard and then to decorate it i used two frames from dollar tree a little glass face and then the lamb's ear and lavender is from walmart if you're wondering how i got the pictures to look this way i will leave a link right here on a video where i showed you guys exactly how to get this look you will need two 8x10 canvases and a way that i have found that is even easier than pulling out all the staples is to grab one of these knives and cut along all the canvas and then you can just rip it off the very front it's okay to leave all the staples in on this project and then i grabbed one of these puzzles from dollar tree and we would just be using the wood on the back for this project and that would be the base of our tray what i did was just take one of the canvases and trace it out so i knew where to cut i would recommend cutting this with a handsaw in a second i do show you that i use a jigsaw to cut it but for this puzzle for whatever reason it started splintering and kind of throwing pieces up and i just don't want any accidents to happen so please use a handsaw or something else once that was cut i grabbed one of these five gallon stir sticks and we get ours from walmart and they work really well for a ton of different projects i just measured about how tall i wanted it and it is nine inches so you will need two stir sticks for this project and this was totally safe to cut with the jigsaw there's no issues with that now for the handle that goes across this is just a wooden dowel from walmart dollar tree does have wooden dowels but they aren't very thick and i felt like it balanced just a little bit better with one of these you can use the dollar tree ones though no problem and i cut it about 10 inches so that it can go all the way across and just like every other piece that we cut you will just want to sand it down slightly i will be using the minwax dark walnut stain to stain all of it once the stain has dried we will start assembling it all together so you will grab the first canvas and flip it over and then glue that puzzle piece on top in the end i did use three canvases the tray when i added everything together it didn't look very balanced the top was just too much so i added a third canvas and it helped just balance everything a lot better then i just found the middle which is four inches on these canvases and i made a little mark so that i can put the stir sticks right in the center and then i just put hot glue right on that line and put the stir stick on top just like we've mentioned in other videos we use hot glue for time purposes we both would recommend using something stronger like e6000 to finish off the tray i just added the handle and i did add it when i added the third canvas back on i did put the handle slightly higher and just like i mentioned earlier the third canvas really just helps it look a lot more balanced for this project we're going to be using three of these tin cans now you want to make sure you get these small ones not the full size ones usually there's like tuna fish or chicken that come in these ones and then go ahead and remove the wrapping and we're gonna spray paint these it can be any dark color really this is just a dark one that i have it's charcoal chalk paint from rust-oleum and give it a good coat of spray paint while we're waiting for the paint to dry on our cans we can move on to the clothes pins so for staining i like to take them apart you don't have to do this you definitely can leave it together but sometimes you can miss different areas since it's hard to get in between them when they're together so i choose to take them apart and then stain them now i'm using this dark walnut stain from minwax and originally i was gonna use a rag but i felt like it was a little bit difficult to get in some of those crevices so i switched to a foam brush painted it on and then wiped the excess off with the rag after we have them all stained we can put them back together if you're wanting an easier way i would definitely just leave it together and try and get as much coverage as you can it can be a little bit of a pain putting them back together that's just what i choose to do now as you can see here there's some of the paint missing off the can i just did a quick fit before this just to make sure everything was looking good that's why you can seal the paint on the can if you'd like to but it's really not necessary since the clothespins will be covering all that up and then what we can do is just start clipping these on going all the way around and then where there's a little bit of the paper from the label i would put that on the back and then once you get towards the back you will need to space them out just a little bit so that it all fits on there correctly i wanted to give you guys a few different options that you could go with when this is complete so the first one obviously just being a little planter you could put some greenery or flowers in here and i think it would look really pretty just like that another option would be to put some sort of light source in there whether that's just like a puck light or a candle now these are some smaller candles from dollar tree couldn't find the bigger one but you could definitely put one of those i wouldn't do a real candle just because of the wood and stain some sort of electric candle i think would work perfectly now another option would be putting an actual live plant in there or some herbs this i think would look really good if you had a pot or a liner to go in there with some soil and you could put this in your kitchen with some live herbs and then with this little chalkboard you could put the names on there i thought that was a really fun cute idea or even glue it on the front like this you could see here would definitely be a great option that you could go with if you do go with that option again you would just want to make sure you have like a liner or a pot to go in there to hold the soil and the last option is kind of what i mentioned like a puck light or another electric source for light would make a really cool light you could put it out like on your patio furniture or something like that i think it would look really pretty that way um let me know though what you guys think in the comments which option you'd go with if you're doing this we're going to start out with one of these circle boxes from dollar tree they kind of are just in theme with whatever holiday is happening so mine happens to be this christmas one and then you're going to grab a pack of these dollar tree skewers what we are going to do is just cover this whole entire thing with these skewers so we are going to start by just hot gluing one on this side so go ahead and just start wrapping them around i just did a small line of hot glue and then would just put it on and then just kind of push it on for a second it seemed to stick just fine i don't think you would need a stronger glue for this project and then just keep going in a line all the way around try and make sure that you're going as straight as possible and then at the bottom just make sure that you are pushing all the way down so that it is flush at the bottom as well and then once you have several lined up i went in with some wire cutters and just cut them at the very top i tried to cut several at the same time and it kind of just didn't work so then i just went one at a time or a couple at a time and it worked just fine once those are cut those same skewers that we just used you can reuse them again for another line after i cut that section down i realized that i could get one more section out of that with the same skewers so one skewer can get you three separate sections when you get to the end we just keep doing the same thing just keep adding all of the skewers after i cut those down i just sanded them down slightly so that they were more even since i don't want to fill this whole entire box with rocks i put just a smaller box in at the bottom and then i filled the rest just with some paper towels so that just the top layer will be filled with rocks then i just filled the whole top layer with these dollar tree white rocks after i did that i just grabbed these succulents they come in all these different types and a lot of them you do have to pull out of those little pots or they come in these clips i was originally going to leave it just this color but it was a little bit too yellow for me so i went in with this waverly antique wax and i grabbed this dollar tree sponge and just went over the whole entire thing this is what it looked like when it was finished i thought it came out really cute it just gives quite a bit different look to it let me know in the comments which one you like better is a dupe from something that i saw online but it was for 200 and i definitely am not going to pay that for something so simple like this so i just took these wood squares from a dollar tree and i will be gluing them together like stairs to make this you need to grab two pieces and hot glue down the side of one of them and then place it on the other at a 90 degree angle and then keep doing the same thing just downwards like stairs this is what it should look like when it's complete this is using only one package of the squares from dollar tree and we will need to add some support one option is to grab these tumbling tower blocks and place them at the top where the two pieces meet and the bottom i personally didn't like how it was so obvious i wanted something a little bit more minimal so what i decided to do was grab one of these grill toppers and i'll be using wire cutters to cut this so that i have just the edge piece so that i can hot glue it on there and it will be a lot more stable once you have all your pieces cut out just go ahead and hot glue it on this was all it took for me to stabilize the whole entire piece and just remember to add these to every corner if anyone has any tips about how to stabilize this a little bit better this is the only way that worked for me i tried using nails on the side and the staple gum but they were just a little bit too big for this project this is what it looked like after i added all of the supports in the back i really like that you can't see them and it's very minimal to finish it off i went in with this natural wood stain from minwax i know it's really hard to see on camera but it looks really pretty in person and it's just enough to make the piece look finished to hang this i will be showing you a clip in a second how i put two nails at the bottom of each platform and then one at the top just to hold everything together and then to decorate i used everything from dollar tree except for the long hanging plants i'm going to be using these dowels from dollar tree we're going to be using the large ones and the smaller ones if i remember correctly the large ones are 12 inches the smaller ones are six inches to begin we're going to take three of the 12 inch the longer dowels and we're going to create a triangle for the base of this project this is going to be that triangle succulent plant holder i guess you would call it and i found it's easiest just to line it up on a flat surface and then put a little dab of hot glue in each corner we just want to get that form and then we can go in after and add more hot glue to strengthen those on each corner once those have dried we can go and move in with our vertical dowels again i'm just using the longer dowels the 12 inch ones and putting a little bit of hot glue on the end and then holding it in the corner let it dry for a little bit the nice thing about hot glue is it does give a little bit so you don't have to be lined up right in the middle i would suggest just gluing each one in holding it there for a minute while it dries and then once you have all three of them we can move on to gluing the top together in the center as you can see here's the top they don't really line up but like i said the glue gives a little bit so you're able to move it around and then we can line those up where they need to be and then we can hot glue those together and then i would add a pretty good amount right now and then just hold it until it dries so those don't slip around and fall off now we can move on to the next part i'm going to be using the smaller dials now you can still use the bigger ones i like to use the smaller ones because if i have to use the bigger ones for another project and i end up cutting them all then i don't have any of those longer ones so i like to use these smaller ones when i ever i need to use a smaller length what we'll want to do is mark at two and a half inches and at five inches and we're going to need three total at this length so mark those out and then we can go ahead and cut it i just used some wire cutters to cut them it works pretty easy you don't need anything like a jigsaw or handsaw really if you do have a handsaw though and you don't have these wire cutters feel free to use that but it is very easy to cut these so again after you've made your cuts you should have three pieces at two and a half inches and then after we've cut them i would suggest sanding them a little bit just to smooth out those edges and allow them to fit and look a little bit better next we'll take those three pieces and line them up in a triangle just like we did at the beginning i found it easiest just to lay my fingers over like this and then glue again just little dabs on each corner so that we can get the structure and then you can go back in after it's dried and add a little bit more hot glue for some more support so what we're creating is the little triangle part inside of the big triangle that holds the succulent so that first triangle that we made is going to be the main frame and then right now what we want to do is we want to cut three more dowels at two and a half inches each and then this is going to come down from that triangle and create the triangle underneath of the succulents all this i'm sure will make a little bit more sense in a little bit once we get further along in the video but after we have those three pieces cut we can start gluing them and essentially we're just repeating the same steps that we did at the beginning of the video with the bigger triangle just on a smaller level so then again put a little bit of hot glue on each of these dowels and glue them in the corner and then once they've dried a little bit you can move to where they meet and then glue all those together now that we have that part complete we can move on to the longer part that goes up from the triangle and connects to the chain these dials are going to be a little bit longer i measured them at three and a half inches and again we'll want to make sure that we cut three of these out and again we'll do what we did in the previous steps we'll put a little bit of glue in each corner and glue these dowels vertically don't be afraid i know you might get a little overwhelmed thinking that it has to be perfect right in the middle but i promise the hot glue does give a little bit and you can move it around so put a little bit of glue in each corner and then once they've dried you can move them around and glue them in the center if you guys are using a little bit stronger glue it might be a little bit more difficult because i know some of those take some time to dry one thing i've had people say is to try using a mixture of e6000 and hot glue so let me know if you guys have used that method before if you like using it maybe we'll have to start doing it but i would definitely try that if you're looking for something that's an instant hold like the hot glue and something that will last a little bit longer like the e6000 and give it a stronger hold okay so now we have the big triangle that's going to hold everything and then the little triangle decor that's gonna go in the middle and it will hang from this chain i grabbed three links from the plant hangers that you can get from dollar tree and we're gonna go through now and spray paint everything with this gold spray paint for me personally this was a really fun project to work on i enjoy doing these kind of geometric modern designs so let me know guys if you enjoy this kind of decor let me know in the comments i'd love to know what your thoughts are and if you'd like to see more of these in future videos so the next part what we want to do is take our little chain after everything's been spray painted we'll put a little bit of glue there and then hot glue that underneath at the top just like you can see there on this triangle and then we're gonna hot glue the bottom of the chain to the top of this other triangle geometric shape i thought about hooking it together but the ways that i was doing it just it didn't really look clean so i thought a little bit of hot glue would work this doesn't weigh a lot because it's just little wood dowels and then the succulent doesn't weigh much at all so i wouldn't worry about that too much and then again we're just using this little air plant succulent from dollar tree i found it easiest to take it apart and stick in the bottom part first because it is pretty stiff and you have to kind of work it around that other dowels and then the other two fit in pretty easily all right so you should have a pretty good idea now of what this is going to look like now that we're almost done again i thought it was a lot of fun to make so if you guys do do it please let us know we love hearing and seeing the projects that you guys recreate of ours for the base of this project you will need an extra long skewer make marks at 4 8 12 and 16 inches to cut this i just used a pair of wire cutters and it's pretty easy to cut and then just cut on all of those lines and you'll have four pieces total the pieces that we just cut will make up the side of the base but now we need to cut the bottom for the base you will measure just a little bit wider than your glasses i measured mine and it was about three and one eighth so i did just three inches and one eighth then i measured again three and one-eighth and those are my two lines and that's where i'll cut with the wire cutters again with all our pieces cut we just need to sand the ends right here i'm just measuring where i want the base to come across i didn't have an exact measurement i knew i didn't want it to be right in the middle i wanted it to be a little bit lower and then just make sure all the lines are the same on all four of the sticks you will take two of the longer sticks and you will hot glue the smaller stick in between for the other one the middle stick needs to be cut in half and then just glue on both of the sticks the smaller middle pieces when that is dry hot glue that middle piece to the other middle piece and then you will do the same exact thing for the other side the reason i did it this way is because i didn't want one of the sticks on top of the other middle piece one because one would have to be higher and i didn't like that look and also the glass wouldn't be able to balance in the middle this is what it looks like with the base completed and we are going to go ahead and spray paint it with the krylon fusion all in one gloss black spray paint and then for the glass i just grabbed a cool shaped one from dollar tree the greenery that i'm using is just from walmart you can grab pretty much any greenery from dollar tree walmart or anything like that this is what it looks like finished with the black spray paint now all you do is place the glass in the center and it is all done [Music] i saw these really cool hexagon boxes from dollar tree and i thought it could make a really cool modern planter for this you will only need the base and you will spray paint it with the rust-oleum white spray paint for the sides i just used a plunger from dollar tree and take off the bottom measuring from where the plunger was stuck on you will measure at 5 10 and 15 inches that will make each of the stands five inches long [Music] what we use to cut wood is this black and decker jigsaw it is very affordable and has worked great for us and there's a link in the description below with all of the pieces cut we will just need to sand them down to create the part that will hold the planter i'm using a 12 inch dowel from dollar tree you will need three of them and i measured them at 3 and 1 8. [Music] i stained everything using the minwax dark walnut stain let me know in the comments below if you have a favorite stain that we should try out i measured about how far up i wanted the planter to go and i made a mark on all three of the wood pieces and that's where i'm gluing the smaller dowels onto you will glue them all on sticking straight up on all three of the pieces now line them up so they are evenly spaced and do quite a bit of hot glue in the center to hold them this is what it looks like fully painted and also i put floral foam inside to hold the fake plants and also we are going to putting moss on top and i didn't want to have to fill it all with moss the greenery and moss are also from dollar tree i'm using this new spray adhesive from dollar tree and spraying on top of all the floral foam and then i'm sticking all the moss on top i cut just a little bit of the end off and stuck the plant inside now you just need to stick the planter into the base when i was finished i didn't like how bright green the moss was so i went over just with some black chalk paint to make it a little bit duller also you can just use rocks dirt or a darker moss for this project you will need six of the 8x10 canvases from dollar tree the easiest way that i have found to get the canvas off is to grab a flathead and just pry up the staples and then grab some pliers and just pull them out to paint the frames i used the white wave really chalk paint and i did one coat on all six of the frames once they were dry i used the antique wax from waverly and dry brushed it on all the edges to give this the chicken wire look you're going to use three of these trash bins from dollar tree you'll start by cutting the top ring off once that is done you'll do the same thing for the bottom there will be a seam where the basket connects and that's where you will cut all the way down once that is all taken apart you need to stretch out the wire just a little bit to make it more even since all the canvases are eight by ten you will cut just a little bit below eight in a little bit below 10 for each of the pieces cut a few of the pieces and then you kind of have a line that you can go off of you can leave it black but i spray painted all of the trash bins with the krylon brilliant silver spray paint once i was finished with that i dry brushed some of the waverly chalk paint and the color ink to give it a little bit more old and distressed look to attach the wire to the canvas i'm using this stanley staple gun and there's a link for that in the description below i tried to make sure one of the edges was lined up and then whatever excess we have we're just going to cut it off once you have all six of the pieces finished it's time to hot glue the sides and put them together i put hot glue in the middle and then down the edges and then i will be taking that staple gun and going in between all of them if you want this to last longer i would use something a little bit stronger like e6000 then do the same thing for the rest of the pieces once those have dried it's time to glue all of the big pieces together and i'm just doing the same thing i'm gluing down the middle and then gluing on the back and then stapling across for the tins on the front there are dollar tree options but i just grabbed these two for 97 cents at walmart i'm going to be doing just a tiny bit of distressing with the waverly chalk paint and the color ink so i'm going across with this brush and then i will take a wet paper towel and wipe most of it off once most of it was wiped off i just kind of dabbed it to give it more of a textured look four of the canvases will be holding pictures so i'm taking that antique wax once again and i'm just dry brushing it all over this clothespin and then i'm also painting two of them in the white waverly chalk paint to attach the tins i'm using just a clear zip tie now it's time to add the clothespins they didn't fit in between the holes so i cut off just a little bit so that i can put them inside then for the greenery i'm using lamb's ears from walmart and also just a little bit of white flowers as well for our next project we're going to be creating a wood planter and we're going to start by using these 6x8 canvas frames now i did get some inspiration from a planner i saw i believe it was on ikea's website and it was a lot bigger though it was an outdoor one so i thought it would be fun to recreate it and do it on a much smaller scale go ahead and remove the canvas from the frames to start we're going to use these craft sticks they come in a pack of 60 and what i'm doing is just cutting it right at the top where the curve starts to straighten out on the stick and we're going to use four of these for each corner of the planner after cutting the first one you can go ahead and use that as a template and line it up with the other sticks and cut where needed now to cut them all i'm using are a pair of regular scissors these actually cut very easily and these craft sticks are from dollar tree as well i didn't really do any real hard measurements when creating this i just cut at the top where it started to curve and then when gluing these ones on you just want to glue it on the very corner and then give it a little bit of room at the top as you can see it's not flush with the canvas frame it does stick up just a little bit now we want to create the base for our planter we can go ahead and use our other canvas frame and start gluing on the craft sticks i ended up using eight for the base some of them may hang over the edge a little bit that's fine you can go ahead and use a razor like this and cut them off they will come off very easily now that our base is complete we want to go ahead and glue it to the rest of our planter box i ended up measuring an inch and a half from the bottom and gluing there for the rest of the wood sticks that go all the way around the planter again i didn't measure to any specific size i just laid them out to where i thought they looked good on the box and then from there i made my line to cut at the top and then once i had my template again i just lined it up on the rest of the sticks and cut all the rest of them for the longer sides of the planter i ended up using nine sticks and then for the shorter side i ended up using seven for this end piece you want to make sure that it's lined up on the very end with the other longer sticks that way there's no gap once you've completed all four sides we can move on to staining or painting we ended up using this dark walnut stain and went around the whole thing to finish our planter we can go ahead and place our greenery or flowers we ended up using these picks from dollar tree i thought they looked really pretty very impressed with these actually you can find similar ones at walmart for just a little bit more i ended up using eight of these and loved how it turned out for this lantern i wanted more of a solid base so i grabbed one of these just square decor pieces from dollar tree and then here i have the 12 inch dowels that i'm going to cut down to eight inches and put them in all four of the corners once all of them are cut you will put just a little bit of hot glue in the corner and then grab one of the dowels and just stick it in the corner and hold it until it's dry then we're going to grab four of the six inch dowels and measure the gap in between each of the dowels and that's how long you will cut all of them then just add little dots of hot glue and attach it on top the lengths in between will vary a little bit so just put the dowel up to the edge and mark where you need to cut it and cut each individual one now it's time for the top you'll grab that six inch dowel once again and i cut them to five and one fourth inch and then the easiest way to attach them is to hot glue opposite corners and then touch them at the top and add some hot glue so they have something to lean on then add the dow to the last corner and make sure that they're all even at the top then i added a bead on top from dollar tree and it's the largest size i spray painted everything with the krylon gloss black for the little hoop at the top i'm using this floral wire and i wrapped it around one of the painting containers and it made a really nice circle and then i'm just going to be putting it inside hot gluing where they connect and then sliding it back inside the bead and then finally i added a candle that i got from walmart and then i'm putting some greenery just a round this is lamb's ear from michael it's part of a garland but you can definitely use the lamb's ear from walmart and it's two for two dollars we're going to use this little kids puzzle from dollar tree and we don't need any of the little pieces we can go ahead and get rid of those and we're actually going to flip it over and use the back because it's a nice wood piece and right there i sanded that off you don't need to do that so don't worry about that step first thing we're going to do is go ahead and stain the entire board with this dark walnut stain after we've stained the entire board what we're going to do next is create a little crate or box to go on the side here i'm just using these craft sticks from dollar tree and i'm cutting them right where they start to curve and we're only going to use the straight part of these sticks once you have one of them cut to the length you can go ahead and use that as a template and cut the rest of them to the same size for the sides of the crate i measured one and a half inches and that's where i cut all of these pieces i ended up having eight of long pieces in eight of the shorter pieces and in the end i only ended up using six of the long pieces and i'll kind of explain what i did to make it to start what we want to do is line up four of the long pieces and then we're gonna use one of these little tumbling tower blocks to glue on each end to give it a little bit more stability another reason i wanted to glue these tumbling tower pieces on is for these side pieces it gives us a little bit more of a flat space to actually glue these pieces on instead of just trying to glue it to the very end of all the other craft sticks [Music] once we've done that on both sides we can take another tumbling tower piece and we're going to glue it right here on the end and i put it almost center of those side pieces you can see right here so we're giving a little bit of a gap on each side and again what that's going to allow us to do is give us some more space to glue the next two pieces on we're going to use our last two craft sticks of the long length to glue on the bottom of our crate originally i was gonna do four in the front and four in the back but then i forgot i wouldn't have a bottom so i ended up only using four for the front and then two craft sticks for the bottom of the crate and once again to make it a little bit easier to glue our crate onto the actual wood board i'm gluing a tumbling tower block on each side here and then i'll put some glue on each of those tumblering tower blocks and gluing it onto the board now that we have the basic project completed we can add a few details to make it look a lot better here's some greenery that we got from walmart these are i believe a dollar each and we probably use two so you'd be two dollars for the greenery here that we're using i think it looks really good or you can also use some of these that we got from ikea some of the grass i really like how this turned out with the grass now it is a little bit more expensive to do that but with everything that's going on right now we're not trying to go out and buy new products so we're using things that we have on hand for a lot of the crafts we're doing we ended up putting hooks on it as well so we can put our keys on it you could really turn this into all sorts of different things maybe like a jewelry holder if you wanted to add more hooks or crates let us know in the comments what you guys would do if you'd use it more for like jewelry or maybe makeup even if you wanted to add another crate or if you like it as is to start this project we will grab two tins from dollar tree the writing is really cute for other projects but for this one i didn't want it on there so i just grabbed 100 acetone and took off all the lettering distressed it with the really chalk paint in the color ink and mineral so here i'm taking a sponge and going over the whole entire thing with the mineral chalk paint and then i will go in later with the ink and go around all the edges so after the thin layer of the mineral chalk paint go in with the ink and go around all of the high points this is it all finished i've just got this greenery from ikea you can use dollar tree greenery this is just what we had on hand so now we are going to build the actual hanging mechanism for these plants so i grabbed two of these wooden stakes there in the yard sale section at walmart make marks at 34 inches and at 17 inches on both of them and that's where we're going to cut them what we use to cut all of our wood is this black and decker jigsaw and there's a link in the description for that below for the part that we'll actually use to hang the plants on is a plunger from dollar tree and we are cutting off just the very bottom where the plunger twists on and then go ahead and send all your edges and then i stained everything using the minwax dark walnut stain you will need to drill six holes in this project so two two inches down on each of the sticks and then on the ends of the plunger to assemble it we will put some hot glue right where that hole is and then we'll put the nail through and just hot glue the two sides together and then once those are attached put some hot glue at the end of the plunger and then stick the nail all the way through if there's a little bit sticking out just take a hammer and hammer it down once you do the same thing for the other side grab some floral wire from dollar tree and this is how we're going to hang the planter after cutting them i spray painted them black just so they weren't that gold color and then you're going to wrap it over the top and wrap it around both of the handles and then you will do the exact same thing on the other side we're going to start with these little puzzle pieces from dollar tree and go ahead and remove all the pieces we aren't going to need any of them we do want to make sure that we're sanding off this text on each one so it doesn't show and then again we're going to go through and stain it with that dark walnut stain once we've stained all of our pieces we can start gluing them together i just started with one end and started gluing all the way around next part is to complete the pull and i thought it'd be a good idea to just take one of these little balls from dollar tree and cut it into a quarter and so we want to do is cut it in half to begin with and then take that half and cut that in half which will give us a quarter of the ball and then i think it looks just like a pole that you would find on a lot of drawers nowadays and next part is to give it a nice coat of this charcoal rust-oleum chalk paint while we're waiting for the paint to dry on our pole we can create the base of our drawer by just using some of this foam board from dollar tree i just lined it up and traced along the bottom to give us a square to go inside and then to give us something to lay that square piece on i'm just gluing some of these little square pieces from dollar tree at the very bottom and then that way we can slide that foam piece down to the very bottom and it will have something to rest on without just going all the way through the last part of our box is to add that pole and i'm using another one of these little square pieces to kind of measure the center of where i want this to go and i'm just going to glue that on the reason i'm using this piece is again just like we'll use the tower blocks from earlier in this video it gives us more surface area to actually glue this on instead of just trying to glue along those little edges of the plastic piece and i think if you guys do this it'll make it a lot easier for you to get that done to complete our project we're going to use these flowers that we got from amazon and we'll have a link for those in the description below for this project we're going to be using this wire basket and this light from dollar tree and we're going to be creating a little table lamp and it's a really simple project but i think in the end looks absolutely beautiful and high-end you could use this in some farmhouse industrial even some rustic decor depending on how you want to style it so the first thing that we're doing here is just cutting a little bit of this wire out in the middle of the basket that way we can fit our light through there once we're done cutting those pieces out we can move on to painting and for the light i unscrewed the bulb just a little bit so that i could put the tape down a little bit lower and that way we don't have to worry about any paint getting on there and then for the rest of the light bulb i just used some tinfoil to wrap it up that seemed to work really well you could also use a plastic bag to tape around there however the ones with the actual zipper on those ziploc bags just don't work very well because it's so stiff so just use like a little sandwich bag with no zippers on it and you should be fine and like i said the tin foil worked perfect for me though i like that and then once we have that wrapped up we can go ahead and paint these now what i used was some spray paint from krylon and that's going to be in the color matte black and just to show you guys here i when i wrapped this i wrapped it a little bit too low so there was a little bit of the orange or gold coloring that was showing as you can see right there so when you wrap it just be careful to keep an eye out for that it was easy though i just re-wrapped it and painted that part so next we're going to be using one of these little craft boxes from dollar tree and i'm just taking a ruler and going from corner to corner so that i can get a center mark and then we're going to go ahead and drill a hole so that our light can be accessed on the bottom part here and for mine i didn't have a bit that was big enough for the entire uh light so if you do have one i would recommend using that so you can replace the batteries or you could cut out a little bit of the section so that you can access the batteries the way i did it you could only turn the light on and off so you would have to take that off if you needed to change the batteries and then right here for the stain i'm using this early american stain from minwax i'm gonna go ahead and stain the whole box and this is kind of what i was talking about i glued it to where you could at least turn it on and off but i wasn't really thinking about changing the battery so as i flip it over you have the access to the switch but you can't change the battery so just keep that in mind if you do want to change the batteries you'll need to cut out a little bit more and then to put the bulb on all you want to do is remove the plastic bulb and then the wiring will come out you can slide that through the basket and then screw this back down and on and the last little part here is to add some dabs of hot glue on the corners so that the basket can be secured to the light and i know it's a little bit different but i love trying new things and trying to think outside the box so let me know if you guys like how it turned out i think it would look really good in like a home office on a table or even some nightstands with some other decor but i hope you guys enjoy it we're going to start out with a pack of these rectangle wood pieces from a dollar tree and they come with six in a pack for each shelf you will only need two so go ahead and set two aside for each of the shelf and of course there'll be three shelves to make the shelf what we're going to do is just glue the ends together and then once the ends are glued together we're going to flip it around and just to make it more stable we're going to hot glue a little piece of it's a craft stick from dollar tree and right at the seam we're just going to hot glue it just to give it more stability and make sure it doesn't just come apart i decided to put it all together first before staining it because i had a few comments last video and several videos before that people were having a hard time gluing things together after things were stained so definitely try doing this first before staining it and see if that helps i noticed that this did work for me just fine but we haven't always had the issue with staining things not working so then go ahead and do this with the two other shelves when those are done we're going to go in with the early american stain we're going to set those aside and let them dry for a little bit and we are going to work on the dowels so i grabbed this i think they're six inch wood dowels from dollar tree and we will only need eight of them for this project [Music] and then i painted all of them with the waverly chalk paint in the color ink and then i'm also going to be painting and the same ink color these long skewers also from dollar tree when you paint them don't paint the very ends you'll want to make sure that you just have a really good bond on all the edges and so what i did was just on all of the corners i am putting one of the dowels [Music] once again we are just using hot glue for time purposes but definitely use e6000 or wood glue in combination with this so that it is a stronger hold in the ends once you have those on all four corners it's time to add the next shelf so the easiest way that i found was to flip everything over and then to add hot glue at the bottom of the shelf and then add the top of the dowels to it and then do the same on the other side when you use hot glue it does bend pretty easy still so you don't have an issue with it being too stiff so they do bend pretty easy so you can kind of manipulate where they go now we have two shelves and we're going to add another layer of the dowels so just like we did before go all the way on each corner and add another set of the dowels try and line them up as perfectly as you can with the bottom layer so it does look like there's just one straight dowel going from the bottom all the way to the top how come the trees get suntrust when it's cold and don't they miss the leaves they left behind could it be to make the ground shine and then finally we are going to add our very top shelf and then i just did the same thing once again i flipped it all over and then we are going to add little dots where we're going to put the very top of the dowels and then just place them on top now that this shelf is complete we are going to add the x in at the back and to do that we are going to grab the long skewers i didn't do any exact measurements i just measured from one end to the other and then i cut it just with the wire cutters and then you can make any adjustments if it's a little bit too long you can cut off a little bit if you need to and then i went in with the hot glue gun and i put a little dot at the top the middle and then at the bottom and then just held it there until it was dry [Music] the second x i did the exact same thing i just measured it and then cut it with the wire cutters and on the second one it will bow slightly because it's going over the first skewer and the only thing you have to make sure is that the top side is glued down really well so that it can bend over the middle it worked just fine for me since the skewers bend very very easy in the first place for this project i just grabbed two of these gold baskets from dollar tree i've noticed that they've kind of released a ton of these gold baskets i was looking for them a lot a few months ago and then of course they dump all of them out now and then we're going to grab one of these rectangle wood pieces from dollar tree and then a square one i'm going to spray paint all of the metal baskets with this oil rubbed bronze spray paint and then stain the two wood pieces with the early american stain and then once those baskets are done and those are stained we're going to cut the baskets since we're going to put the wood down like this on the front and that'll be kind of our shelf part so on the very bottom one you do not want to cut all the way to the back you want to leave that very bottom one so that the wood has a place to sit and i'll show you right here so you see that there's that very very bottom layer that i can rest on and then we are only going to leave the very very back grid so that it just kind of has a cute decorative purpose the easiest way is just to cut all of the wire first and then try and cut it very close after you get the bulk of the wire off so now that we have the bulk of the wire off i bent the bottom portion a little bit so that it was more flat and then we are going to go in and just cut those pieces as close as we can just so that the very back is nice and clean when i did the second shelf i did notice that you can kind of bend these pieces back and forth and it almost makes a very very clean cut or like it just kind of breaks off and that works a lot better than trying to cut it this is what it should look like after everything is cut i realize now that you probably should have just cut everything first and then spray painted it so now we are going to put the wood piece on and to attach any wood to metal like this what we found is that it's a lot easier to flip it over and just hot glue the wood like this and just kind of put it on top just load it up you won't see it anyways and once again you can use e6000 in combination with the hot glue or you can use wood glue kind of whatever works for you we just use this hot glue for time purposes and then i spray painted two normal sized skewers with the oil rope bronze spray paint now we are going to work on that second shell for this second one you will not need to cut the bottom like we did before you will just want to cut around it so as you see here you would just want to cut around it and then just leave the whole backing like we did before just like i said at the first one just cut the bulk of the metal off and then go in and make it look nice this is where i realize you can kind of just bend them back and forth which ends up being a lot easier than cutting them so when that looks all nice and clean we are going to do the same thing like we did before just make sure that the wood piece is centered and just hot glue all of the contact points from the metal to the wood and make sure that's secured this part doesn't really give it any stability i just thought it looked really nice so with the skewer we are going to just put it on at the side i didn't do any measurements once again but i just put it on the side from the corner of the top to the corner of the bottom of the wood and then cut it with the wire cutters and then i'm just adding a tiny bit of hot glue and then putting it from one end to the other then i flipped it around and used another skewer and then i did the exact same thing measured from one end to the other and then cut it with the wire cutters and then hot glued it [Music] this is how it looked after i thought it looked very industrial kind of rustic and modern and i think it looks very very nice and now we're going to move on to the second one and do the same thing with the skewers so what we're going to do is turn it on its side and then just do the same thing with the skewer and measure from one end to the other and cut it add a tiny bit of hot glue and put it on there it doesn't need a ton of hot glue just because it is kind of for a decorative purpose only just to make sure it was secured i did add just a tiny tiny bit of hot glue on at the back and then to just kind of cover up the parts that weren't painted or where we cut the dowels i went in just with a tiny bit of black paint and covered those portions and then the top pieces where we hot glued it on i painted those black so they look like they were welded together [Music] for this project we're going to be making a little table lamp and we're going to use one of these dollar tree craft boxes you only need the lid so go ahead and save the bottom part for another craft and then what we're going to be using is these craft sticks from dollar tree i would just grab a couple packs depending on how big or how many of these lamps you want to make a couple packs should work good for you and then what i did was just cut off one end so that it was straight and then i held it up to the craft box and then cut the other end off so that it's the same length of the actual lid itself and then we can use this one as a template for all the other sticks that we're going to cut now i cut all these the same length when we actually start putting these together we will trim them a little bit and then i'm going to use four of these 12 inch dowels from dollar tree and go ahead and spray paint those with the matte black or if you have just a black chalk paint or acrylic paint that will work just fine as well once we have our dowels painted we can go ahead and glue these into each corner i'm just using some hot glue it should work just fine for this project we're not really going to have much weight or anything going on with these so if you guys want to use the hot glue for this it should be fine as always though you're more than welcome to use something stronger for a longer lasting hold and then when gluing these in i just put a little bit of glue at the bottom and then run it up the side and then i'm gonna go ahead and stick the dowel as close and tight into that corner as possible so that these are all as uniform as we can get them [Music] we have all the dowels glued in there we can move on to gluing our craft sticks in here and you want to just leave a little bit of a gap in between each one i didn't do any actual measurements i just looked at it and went with one that i felt like was appropriate for the size of this project and then i'm gluing this front piece here what i would recommend doing is picking a side that you're going to have as the front so you can try and keep it as clean as possible and as i guess uh uniform and then keep that as the front so that if you kind of get off in the back it really isn't going to matter since that's going to be the back part because what i did here is i started in the front and then i moved all the way around i would try and do it a little bit different than that and i'll show you here in just a little bit what i mean i ended up doing the front and then the two sides so that i could try and control that and keep it as clean as possible and then that way when you get around to the back like right here if stuff doesn't quite match up as as well as you wanted to or there's some pieces sticking out more it's not going to matter because it's in the back so try and stick with one side being the front and then to the side so like right here you can see i've gone up on the front and then i'm gonna add the two sides so you can see i've done the front and then the two sides and now the back is a lot easier i can just kind of put these on here they don't have to look as good so that's what i would try and do hopefully that makes sense for you guys start with the front and then add the two sides and then that way when you get to the back it's not as crucial if things aren't lining up as perfect once you have all the craft sticks glued around the whole thing and all the way to the top you can either leave it as is or if you need to trim a little bit you can do that mine had a little bit of the dowel sticking up so i just took some wire cutters and went ahead and cut the extra off of there so that it's flush with the top of this [Music] this next part is completely optional it just depends on how you want to finish this project i'm using the early american stain from minwax to give it a darker look i wanted to be modern but also kind of a rustic industrial fill so if you wanted to leave it as is or not even paint the skewers or the dowels i mean in the beginning you could just leave those as is and i think it would look really well with like beach decor boho decor with that natural wood and then to finish this up all we need to do is add our puck light so that we can complete that lamp for this project you will need six of these little palettes from dollar tree what i decided to do was put two of them together so i'm going to be running hot glue in at the middle and then adding one of these popsicle sticks and putting it in the middle just for more stability the hot glue worked perfectly fine for me in this project and it holds all the weight that i would want on here so just some like decorative plants and picture frames candles that kind of thing so it can hold a decent amount of weight but if you want to have it be a lot stronger i would use like wood glue or e6000 you will just want to do the same thing for all six of the palettes now that those are glued together i'm going to be grabbing eight six inch dowels from a dollar tree and hot gluing them at all of the corners this is going to make it so we can put another level on top of the pallets so you will glue them on each of the corners just wait for it to dry and then here in a minute we will be flipping it over so that we can glue the other side to the bottom of the other pallets this is what it should look like when you are done with the first one and then you will flip over the other palette and flip over this one so everything's upside down and then you will put hot glue on the bottom one and then put all the dowels on top just make sure that they are kind of in the same place on all of the corners now we have the first two levels complete and we will be just adding third one so for the third one you will do what we did with the first one and add the six inch dowels to all of the corners on top and then here in a second we will flip it over just like the other ones and hot glue on to the bottom so just like i said we will flip it over and then add hot glue in all of those corners just make sure everything is upside down when you do this you can leave it the natural color like this but i wanted a little bit more modern farmhouse look so i'm going in with this minwax stain it is in the color early american this is what it looks like after it is stained and i think it came out very very pretty you can just leave it like this but i kind of wanted this metal look on all of the sides so i'm going to be using this poster board that we got from dollar tree i'm going to just be using the blue color that we had on hand you can make this as big or as small as you want but i made mine about one and a half inches i marked the paper all the way up and then i just connected all of the lines and i just cut it with a pair of scissors and then i'm going to be using the one that i cut out first as a template for three other ones so we will have four total for all four of the corners but i remember now that we have all of those cut you just need to fold it in half since it'll go kind of around the corner then line it up with the corners and draw a line at the top so that you can cut it i used that length for all four of the corners then i spray painted all of them with the matte black from krylon now it's time to hot glue it on and just add a little bit of hot glue on all of the little palettes and then you will just put the paper on top is we want to believe it is when it was done i realized how much you could see the dowels and i didn't want you to be able to see them i kind of wanted it to look like it had a metal structure so i just went in with some ink chalk paint from waverly and painted all of the dowels now you can see all of the dowels blend seamlessly with the paper for this project you will also need another dollar tree mirror and then once again just scrape off the lettering using some windex and eraser you will also need three of the six by eight canvases from dollar tree the easiest way to get the canvas off is to use a flathead screwdriver and pry up the staples and then you can use pliers to pull out the staples for the base we're going to be using these craft sticks from dollar tree and just hot glue them on to the whole bottom of one of the canvases [Music] if there's a little bit left over on the sides you'll want to grab just a razor and cut it now we are going to assemble all the canvases together just hot glue on the corners and put the canvas on top then you'll do that once again with the third canvas you want to see about how high you want your mirror i did mine at eight inches you will not want to hot glue them in right now like i am because you want to take them out to spray paint them so here i did hot glue them in and then i'm hot gluing the top to give it the triangle look if you do do this so that it can have the perfect shape just don't put a lot of hot glue at the bottom so that you can easily take it out and then i spray painted it with the rust-oleum gold spray paint once they are dry go ahead and hot glue them in and then you'll finish off with the mirror so put hot glue on both of the tips of the triangle and then slide your mirror in and tilt it how you would like it and then just hold it there until it's dry i was going to hot glue some of the beads from dollar tree on i spray painted them gold but i liked how this looked a lot better just a lot more clean this project's going to be very simple and easy i got this puzzle a long time ago and thought it would be cool to make kind of a modern decor piece and what we're going to do is just use some gold spray paint and give it a few coats i think it's really cool how it turned out and you can still kind of see the wood grain but it might be a little too bulky for modern i'm not sure let me know in the comments what you guys think for this shelf you will need the extra long skewers from dollar tree and you will grab four of them for the structure and go ahead and cut off the tips of all of them once you do that measure out at 30 inches and then 15 inches and that's where you will cut on all of them [Music] now that those are cut you will also need six inch wooden dowels from dollar tree and one of these metal signs [Music] they will need to be glued in a triangle shape so i just grabbed the metal sign so i knew where i needed them to meet and then i put some hot glue if you decide to do this please use a combination of hot glue and e6000 just so that everything will hold together you will need to repeat this for four triangles [Music] with one of the triangles laying down grab one of the six inch dowels and put that on top and then you will grab another six inch dowel put it at the bottom of the triangle and then another one put out the other end with one of the other triangle pieces put it at the bottom put another six inch dowel on top and then you will hot glue those bottom parts to the middle [Music] then i hot glued the middle sign for the front you will just grab the last two triangle pieces and hot glue them on top [Music] then i sprayed everything with two coats of the rust-oleum gold spray paint when i was finished i realized it was a little bit too flimsy so i added another dowel to the front and to the back and then crafting sticks on the bottom to reinforce the center you will for sure want to add these dowels too for structure purposes if you want anything at all to be held on top of the shelf you need to add these you'll want to glue these in a triangle type pattern just like everything else to give it the structure that it needs and what i'm doing here you will do to the other side as well and then once you are done just go back in with the gold spray paint once again [Music] then for the decor that's going to be on the shelf i'm using this face from dollar tree and this greenery also from dollar tree [Music] for this project i started out with two packs of these wood planks from dollar tree what i did was just laid them out how i wanted them to go so i put four down on one side and four down on the other if you had like a scrap piece of wood that would work perfect for this project i did feel like one pack just wasn't enough so for the second pack i only used two for just the top then to put it together i decided to hot glue the two panels together like this and i did that all the way up the hot glue does work great for me for this project you can use wood glue though that would probably work great you don't need to use e6000 for this that would be just a little bit too strong of a hold i just don't think it's necessary but you can use it if you would like once that was done i decided to hot glue them like this and put them together to just make it all one piece but this is not the best way to put it together you'll see here in a minute i decided to flip it over and use little they're called craft sticks at dollar tree and put it all together that's how i would do it if you were going to put this together the hot gluing it just makes it really messy in between you see a big long line when you're doing the other sides you don't really see it but when you're doing the big long line you see quite a bit of hot glue also i would put them horizontally and then do some vertically i don't know why i did them all vertically so i would just do that it makes it really really secure in the end it was very secure it worked perfect for this project there are small small gaps but you don't really see them so just keep going along with the popsicle sticks and then at the top i did have to just cut the popsicle stick just to make it fit like i said though it really does work perfect there's no issues that i had and then i went over in the areas just on the back and added a tiny bit of hot glue now we have one solid piece or if you're just starting here with your spare piece of wood go ahead and stain it with this early american stain and then i'm going to be using this vase filler i got it from ross for six dollars and i thought it would be really cute to make a heart out of this i've seen some similar things on pinterest or we have a company i don't know if you've seen it i think they were on shark tank but it was just a local company here in utah called ecoflower i think they've changed their name now but they did all sorts of wood flower designs kind of like this and i thought they were super super cute so it kind of gives the same look for a lot cheaper price so i just made a heart shape and then i just started gluing them all on in the little heart template that's all i did it was a really really fun project i just got to turn on some music and just sit there and glue them all on it was really peaceful and fun i definitely would recommend doing this project the one that i got from ross does have a few different sizes i also just saw a package from target i believe it was around i think ten dollars and it had a little bit bigger wood flowers so you can do that as well also the ones that i got from ross they are not wood flowers they are kind of this foamish texture and you will have quite a few left over that we will use for the next project so like i said just keep going around your heart and just make sure to kind of keep it in those lines so that it keeps its shape now that we have the heart shape done i really really really love how this turned out i think it's super super cute i think it's very minimal kind of boho looking and like i said we have quite a few left over that we're going to be using for the next project and we do have a lot of people that ask how we hang our projects so this one specifically i'm going to be using this hanger that we just get a package from walmart and we use these picture hangers and i'm just hot gluing it on the back since this is super light most of the time you're going to want to nail it on with the little nails that they have but since the wood is so thin it would just go through the front for this project i'm going to be using these skewers from dollar tree i originally wanted to use the extra long skewers but i couldn't find any at my local store so i guess we have to wait just a few more weeks or even months for that but i just grabbed a bunch of them i've used this pack a lot of times so i don't know exactly how many i grabbed but then i used wire cutters and just cut all the tips off of each of them when that was done i lined them all up and i grabbed a pencil and just started drawing random lines where i was going to cut then again with the wire cutters i just cut on each of the pieces and i did keep them in order so that when we put it back together it's super easy now that we have all our pieces it's going to kind of look like a disaster and if you've watched other people's videos and they did it way easier it's because i haven't not watched anyone do this before and i always choose the hardest way to do something so i'll make sure the one side is completely even and then i grabbed a piece of tape just so that they all stayed in the same line so i could go in with this stain once again i'm using the early american stain we get it from walmart we love it we use it for everything as you guys know then it was time to flip it over which was extremely scary but i ended up getting it all the way over and only losing one so i placed that back i believe in the right place and then i stained the whole back which ended up being the front and the ends i decided to glue them all onto a piece of foam board i just cut a random square of foam board and then i will cut it down later so i'm just going to place it on top and then i will be grabbing each piece one by one and hot gluing it in order [Music] this is a tedious process but i think it came out really really cute i think it would look a little bit better if you use the extra long skewers that dollar tree carries but like i said i went in and i just grabbed one by one in order and hot glued them all align at the top so that it was completely even [Music] when i finished the top row i decided i wanted it to cut the side just so that it was easier to maneuver you can do this before or after it's finished it doesn't matter too much i just set up this ruler to kind of know where to cut in a straight line and i took my razor and went across the side and then i went right next to the wood and cut all of the foam board off [Music] and then all you have to do is add the bottom section so it's easiest to add a dot at the top and a dot at the bottom on the actual stick and then place it where it needs to go this should be a breeze since you have all your pieces in line if you didn't do that though you're going to have a very interesting puzzle to figure out [Music] uh when that was done my ends were a mess also you probably can just do a full length skewer after you've done the variant on the one side where you've cut them but i wanted to not waste so many skewers on this project so i cut off the foam board on the back and then i'm going to be grabbing the wire cutters and cutting across the whole entire bottom to give it a straight line grab this hexagon box from dollar tree and if you can't find any of those this can definitely work with one of the circle boxes that they have all year round what i'm going to be doing is cutting the very top off so that it's just left with the outside of the shape and then for the other box you'll just leave the lid just how it is so you'll only be doing this to one of the lids this is what it looks like after it is separated from the top and then we're going to go ahead and just sand down these sides slightly just so that they look a lot cleaner and they aren't so messy i then painted everything with the white waverly chalk paint that we get from walmart all you will need to paint is the other lid from the other box and then the one that we cut now it's time to add the dowels these dowels are just the 12 inch ones from dollar tree and i just put a little bit of hot glue at the corner and i'm going to be doing this for about three or four of them and then we're going to add the other lid that we cut now that the top lid has something to hold on to i am going to put a little bit of hot glue at the very top and lay the lid on top the same way that the other hexagon is on the bottom now that those are together we just need to do basically the same thing all the way around just keep hot gluing at the bottom and the top and put your dowel on just make sure that they're kind of separated about the same distance just so that it looks really nice i did try and put some on the other side so that it didn't kind of warp i don't think this is necessary it was fine even if you don't do it on the other side i would just work your way all the way around the whole entire shape this is how far i got with one pack of the dowels and so we'll be using another pack to finish off another section of this lantern if you're using a different shape you probably won't need as many dowels also it depends on how far apart you space them if it's closer together you'll need more dowels if it's farther apart you won't need as many so this is now my third pack of dowels now i will be using the fourth pack of dowels and then i did need one more pack just to do this tiny little section so you will have dowels left over when i was finished i felt like it needed a handle so i just grabbed this leather that we got forever ago from i think either michael's or hobby lobby always try and get 50 off there but i just went ahead and cut it in half since the handle was just a little bit too thick and then i'm going to be gluing it to the sides of the hexagon to decorate it i just put one larger candle and one smaller candle inside you can do a lot of different things with this cute lantern you can even leave it empty but just remember since they are candles don't light it if there's anything in the way of the flame for this project i had really wanted to use this bamboo windshield for a while just since i saw it come out at our local dollar tree i thought these could make really cool handles to any type of tray or basket what i did was just cut everything apart so that i was left just with the pieces and nothing else for the base of this tray i'm going to be using at this wood puzzle from dollar tree we really like to use these if we need one solid piece of wood i took all the pieces out our kids really love to have fun and just paint those but you can just glue them in back where they were maybe give it some more structure and stability but honestly it's going to be fine without it so then i stained it with our favorite stain which is the early american stain from minwax and then they now have these really really cute stencils from dollar tree we found this one that has this really really cute design on it and i'm going to be using the same white paint that we did before which is the waverly chalk paint just in the color white i decided to start in the middle because it's kind of like tile you don't want to start on the edges i didn't want it to look kind of weird so i wanted my design right in the center and then i'm going to be doing at the top part just the same way it did kind of fade a little bit but i liked that it gave it almost a textured kind of look and then of course you got to do all of the sides it will kind of go over the sides which is totally fine you want it to look very cute the only thing is i'm not a huge fan of the line that you can see in the middle but if you did the design maybe a little bit different way and didn't do the little tiny triangles it probably wouldn't give it that effect and then i moved on to the handles so i tried to cut them with the wire cutters this kind of works you can definitely do it this way but it is just kind of rough i would definitely just use the jigsaw if i was to do this again i just cut off kind of the knot just so that it was very clean and they both were the same size and then of course sanded it down just slightly to connect it i thought it would be really cool to use this wire it's in the hardware section of dollar tree instead of using twine i wanted it a little bit more clean and bohemian so what i did was just run it through the hole of the bamboo and then i'm going to be putting the wire on at the back of the tray and hot gluing it so basically i just placed the wire on the back and then kind of bent the handle forward how tall i wanted it i will be flipping it over and hot gluing it it does work really well it was really secure and i loved how it looked in at the end so all i did was put a little line of hot glue and then grabbed something so that i could press it down once it was kind of warm i just pressed with my fingers to make sure it was really attached to the puzzle piece just try and make sure that it's centered you do have some leeway with this it can kind of move one way it can kind of move the other so that is super nice when you're using wire then just clean it up even though you won't see it i just cut off the extra wire pieces and this is how the handle came out i think it came out really really cute and i love the way that it looks then i just duplicated the same thing on the other side make sure that they're both center and they're the same height this project is going to be really really easy and it came out a lot better than i was hoping so all i did was grab these dowels that i got from dollar tree and i'm going to be placing them on top of this gift box also from dollar tree i kind of just spaced them however i wanted to um if i was to do this again i would definitely kind of measure it out a little bit more and make it look a little bit more straight i did have some that curved so try and get ones that are completely straight i just went in and did all of the corners first so that i could stand it up to make sure all of the dowels were even in the end once i put them on all four corners i started placing them in the middle and i set it up so that i could make sure all the dowels were even to the ground so this one that you can see here i kind of tilted it at a diagonal a little bit so it's closer at the bottom than it is at the top so just be really careful about that and then i just kept making sure they were about the same distance apart and put them all around all of the sides if you are ever wondering the supplies that we used how many or things like that you can look in the description below this is what it looks like when it is finished i did decide to paint all of it with the waverly chalk paint and the color ink i would spray paint it if i was to do this again painting it ended up taking a really long time and it didn't cover up all of the texture so just go in with some matte black spray paint and spray paint the whole thing probably with two or three coats for this project we're going to be creating a kind of an industrial shelf and this is one of my favorite projects using dollar tree items so hopefully you guys like it as well first thing we're going to do is use some of these 8x10 canvas frames and go ahead and remove the canvas we're just going to be painting these wood frames i'm using some watered-down waverly ink chalk paint and once those are painted go ahead and set them aside and we'll let those dry we'll move on to the next part for the actual shelf part we're going to be using some of these jumbo craft sticks from walmart they're quite a bit bigger than the ones that you can get from dollar tree and we're going to be using two packs of these rectangle wood planks that you can get from dollar tree the first thing that we're gonna do is glue these together with these craft sticks and i would leave a little bit more room on the end here as you can see this goes almost actually goes past the edge so i had to cut it off but leave a little bit of a gap if you can so just slide these over when you're gluing them down so you don't have to worry about cutting that that will help out later when we add some of the tumbling tower blocks so once we've glued three of those together we're just gonna do the same thing glue three more together with these craft sticks and then we'll glue those two pieces together to create the top part or bottom part of our shelf and as you can see right here on the second one i actually glued these craft sticks over quite a bit more so on the end there you can see there's a gap between the craft stick and the edge of the wood plank and then to glue these together i'm just going to slide them as close as i can and then i'm going to put quite a bit of hot glue on there and glue down another craft stick on those seams and then just do that on the other side as well and once you've completed this whole process that's going to create one side of our shelf so you'll want to repeat that process so that you'll have a top and a bottom piece this next part we're going to hold up one of these crafting sticks on the edge of our shelf and go ahead and mark that on the width cut it and then this right here is going to add a lot of volume to our shelf instead of just having those wood planks glued together and using that as our shelf we're going to make this thicker and look like more just a solid piece of wood so what i'm doing here is adding some tumbling tower blocks to the edge this is why you want to leave a gap between the original craft sticks and the edge of our wood planks so that you can glue those down this is going to allow you more space to glue our crafting stick down instead of just trying to glue it to the edge of the wood planks now we have the wood plank and the tumbling tower block to glue that down so it's going to be a lot more structurally sound and secure on there and all we're going to do is the same exact process on the other side with the craft stick and the tumbling tower blocks so the next part and this is why i decided to go with the walmart craft sticks since they're bigger we want to line this up with the edge again and then measure over to where our first plank ends and then we're going to cut that so if we went with dollar tree craft sticks we'd have to use a lot more on the front they're not quite as thick and i just don't think it would look quite as good versus these ones we can cut to the exact length that our wood planks are and they'll line up with that and it'll look a lot cleaner in the end now once we have our three pieces cut out here we're going to do the same thing that we did on the sides and we're going to glue some of these tumbling tower blocks down and then we will glue those craft sticks to that and the wood planks again this is something i like to do just because it adds a little bit more surface area for you to glue your craft sticks on so when i originally glued these down i put two tumbling tower blocks on each plank and then i glued the craft sticks down now there's a little bit of a problem with that because when the planks meet and the craft sticks meet there's a little seam and they don't connect there so it is a little bit i guess flimsy and they can overlap each other i'll show you in just a minute what i'm talking about so i did it a little differently on the other side and i would recommend doing it that way if you're going to do this so as you can see right here see how they don't quite fit flush right here i'm going to glue one block on the plank and then i'm going to glue one block right there in the middle of the seam that way i can glue the two planks and the two craft sticks together on that and it will hold it together a lot better so hopefully that makes sense it's just a little bit of extra detail that's going to help this look cleaner in the end and then this right here is kind of what i was talking about you can see that it flexes and kind of bends past each other this right here on the other side since i glued it in the seam is not going to do that anymore since i can glue that down those are going to fit a lot better together now that we have most of this completed we can move on to gluing the top piece on here and kind of sealing this together and giving the illusion that it's just one solid thick piece of wood instead of just a skinny piece using the planks only so what i'm doing here is i'm just gluing some of these tumbling tower blocks on the top of the existing blocks that i have on here and that's going to create a little shelf for our top wood plank piece to sit on and glue down on so to finish this piece up here we just need to add some glue on top of those tumbling tower blocks and then slide our top piece on and that will glue right down on there now this is a little bit more in depth of the project but it's still very simple to do there's not a lot of cutting or measuring and then lastly to finish this off i'm going to stain it with this early american minwax thing now depending on the decor that you have going on in your home you could change this up do a lighter or darker stain or even paint the shelf just to go with what you have early american is definitely a go-to first though we absolutely love that stain now on the frames here you can see that the paint didn't get quite into some of these small crevices so what i did is just used a smaller brush and some watered down ink paint to go in there and to cover that up and then once we have all that painted the last thing that we need to do is secure this to the wall so what i'm doing is going to add some screws before we do that though since this is very thin wood i'm going to drill a couple holes that are a little bit smaller than the screw that i'm using and then we'll go ahead and screw this into the wall i just uh kind of eyeballed here on the top and bottom put a couple holes and then we can screw that in if you want to do actual measurements you definitely can but this is a very simple way to get this secured onto the wall this project we're going to be creating the shelf house or uh trey house display and i absolutely love how this turned out very sleek and modern design so hopefully you guys love it just as much and to start what we're going to be doing is gluing these rectangle wood planks together so they come in a pack of six we're gonna need eight total and then i just put a quick line of glue there on the edge and then glued these together and then we're going to do the same with another two this is just to initially get them to stick together and then we'll go in and add some strength now of course we use the hot glue for these time purposes to get these videos done for you guys i would recommend using something stronger for this project with the dowels there isn't a lot for them to glue to so the hot glue can be a little bit more flimsy so i definitely look at using maybe a wood glue or e6000 you will have a longer drying time but i think that would work a little bit better for you the hot glue still worked pretty well for me and i'm very satisfied with how it turned out so if you guys want to try that way you're more than welcome it just may not be as sturdy and hold up as long as if you use something different [Music] and as you can see once we had those two pieces glued together i put that craft stick along the seam there to give that some strength and then we're going to glue these together and do the same thing add another craft stick right along the middle there just so that we're giving these seams a lot more strength and they're not as flimsy next we can move on to our dowel rods now you will need two of the 12 inch packs and i'm going to go ahead and spray paint all of these gold and after we've created our two shelves with the four planks we can move on to kind of creating the frame using these gold dial rods so the first thing that i'm doing here is i want these vertical dials to be right on the corner or as close to that corner as possible so i held it up in the corner and then i aligned this horizontal one that's going to go right in the front of that shelf as you can see this one you want to glue down not quite to the corner because you want to have a little bit of room to where that vertical rod is going to go so you want to glue it just off of that corner as you can see there's a little bit of a gap there but you're going to glue that right on the front of those wood planks and then once we have that in place we can move on to gluing the vertical one and just put a little bit of glue right there on the corner and on that dowel that's in the front and when you guys are gluing these pieces make sure that they're dried the last thing you want to do is try to move on to your next piece and the hot glue or whatever glue you're using it hasn't dried all the way and then your dowels are slipping and they're moving around so i would definitely give it enough time to dry in place before moving on to the next piece and then what we're doing is we just are adding this side piece again we're just going to glue it right there in the corner and then i worked all the way around i found this was just easy for me maybe you'll find a different way that works a little bit easier for you but i started in one corner and then i just worked all the way around this shelf gluing each piece and then when i got to parts like this and i needed to cut you don't have to do any real measurements you can just line it up mark it and then cut it where it needs to be to fill in those little gaps since the dowels aren't going to go all the way across there you will need a little bit of a piece to go right there and fill that gap [Music] [Music] and when you're cutting these pieces to fit in these certain lengths here i would always try to cut it a little bit longer than what you think sometimes when you line these up and you try to cut it exactly how it is they end up being short or if like right here where you need to trim a little bit off you're going to end up being a little short and then you have a gap and then it just doesn't look as polished so i would measure the area that you need and then cut it a little bit longer so that you can make sure that's gonna fit in there because you can always cut the extra off but if you cut too much then you're just gonna have that gap so now that we have the bottom shelf and the four dials coming up we can move on to our second shelf and i found that these krylon spray cans worked really well for this i ended up using four of them one in each corner and the reason i use them is they hold up this second shelf for you so you don't have to worry about trying to hold that up while you're gluing or anything i felt like it was a good distance between the bottom shelf and the top shelf and it keeps it just nice and sturdy for you so if you want to recreate this and you've got some spray cans that's what i would do i think it will look really good this way when you're done and it will give you that assistance to hold that shelf up for you and then once we have that laying flat there we can move on to adding the frame around this shelf and i'm just doing the exact same thing as i did before i'm just starting on one corner and i'm working all the way around until i meet up with that and just measuring and cutting as i need to while i'm moving around this [Music] one thing that i like to do as well when i use the hot glue i try to make it as minimal as i can in these seams and then once my structure's completed for example this piece here i'll flip it upside down and then all of the seams that are underneath that you're not going to be able to see when this is displayed i'll go through and fill it with a lot more glue so that will give it a lot more strength and then you're not going to be able to see it but what i like to do is do the very minimal amount at first just so my structures put together and then go in after with more glue and you could do that the same way if you wanted to kind of put this together with just hot glue and then go in after with like e6000 or wood glue you could also do that i know some people do a mixture of e6000 and hot glue at the same time i've kind of heard mixed things like sometimes it doesn't work or gets a little bit messy so let me know if you've had experience with that i still haven't tried it yet the system that we use works pretty well for us so once we have our two shelves completed we can move on to adding the top part of this house and what i'm doing here is adding these little side pieces i'm just going to measure the gap here and then cut the dowel and glue it in on each side and then we're going to create the roof of this so i messed around with it a couple times trying to figure out how the best way would be to do the roof and this is what i came up with so what i ended up doing is putting a little dab of hot glue on each corner here and then i took both of these rods for each side held them in place and kind of laid them on each other until that glue was dried and they seem to hold up really well that way and then what i did was put a little tiny piece at the top just to keep those together and then i'm going to do the exact same thing on the other side [Music] and as we're wrapping up this project it is a little bit more intricate it does take a little bit more time but i think this is one of my favorites that we've done for christmas and it looks very modern very high end and it only costs a few dollars so it's definitely worth your time if you wanted to go in and recreate this and the last part here is just to add this top piece so you want to measure from the top part to the other top part and you want to just lay right in that little v that we created and then just put a little bit of glue in there and that's going to be the very final piece of this project hey everyone we hope you enjoyed today's
