Mordecai gets the start at second will bat second Milton Bradley moves into the third spot the heart of the order Vladimir Guerrero leaves Stevens and Fernando tattoos that's a tough three the way through in the final three Mark Smith Michael Barrett and young left hander Matt light Ray's defense has this look up the middle it's Lopez for calling Baris around the bag at second Andrew will patrol Center the wings in the outfield Gilkey gets the start in left Brian Jordan and his familiar spotted right at the corners in the infield chippers at third Wes Helms again at first and on the mound left-hander Oh Dallas Perez first five starts not too good last two starts very good it's been a while since he's pitched in control and being able to locate these pictures I thought today I don't know how you read or if you had a chance to read the Atlanta journal-constitution he expressed disappointment at not pitching more and I think it might have been misread by some people the way I read it is here's a kid who would like to pitch in a major leagues and he said I understand you have Maddux and Glavine and Smoltz and those guys but you know I just I want to pitch in the big leagues and I think I can I like I personally like his intensity and I think you can channel that so those that's the Braves defense that's the Expos offense how about the umpires here's the way it will work let's see if Maris and he's able to beat the rap at first but now there are two outs remember last night the third baseman for the expose to teach took a little time getting the rid of the ball almost Louis lineup there was protection all around him over there so he got a lot more pitches to handle especially if they keep hitting him in this part of the batting was not a whole lot down below the number 6 spot in the Montreal order when bead rose back you know he's going to be somewhere in the front end of the lineup and apparently they feel more comfortable with Bradley up Ned and somewhere down I could envision tatis hitting third in this lineup before they're through well he hit third last night that's a good spot form with Guerrero hitting behind you you will get more pitches to handle with Guerrero behind you 2 & 2 now on Fernando Tati's [Music] and the 2-2 pitch on the way from Oh Dallas Perez that's filed back still 2 & 2 one more game in this series tomorrow afternoon just for an instant thought that ball had gone over the fence just before he got to second base he kind of slowed down and then sped up again when he saw it one off the wall well sometimes when the ball goes down on that surface out there track it's the same color as the ball and it's hard to tell is it bouncing up off of it or is it coming down onto it blank we'll try to bunt him over takes a strike the surface on that warning track that Don was talking about no one going to see if when he squares around the bunt he has most of the weight back away from the plate because he leaned in that as a guy who wants to pitch one of the things that you've heard me say that from date and heard me say this from day one I really don't like to hear anybody say I'm just happy to be you because there's a pretty good chance they are yeah he thinks he's good enough to pitch in the big leagues but what he said today is I realized there's Maddux and Glavine and Smoltz I understand it I just don't like them able to pitch so he didn't say put me in there leave me out there he just says I I believe I can pitch and I want to pitch I think you got to like that it wasn't a belligerent attitude and unfortunately sometimes what happens in the newspaper article is headline writers don't write the articles and the guys who write the articles don't write the headlines so sometimes headlines can mislead you to the content of the brand one now under Brera and the article we're talking about was in today's Atlanta journal-constitution and I think too if you were to go back and talk to Leo Mazzoni what came out his statement about it was not what he meant either because his statement was well he's just he's on a starting staff and the big leagues they ought to be happy with that and I know Leo well enough to know he didn't mean that that way in the air to right field that's got some carry to it as well Jordan Frankie's got it Barrett will tag at second move over to third and there are two men out now with Mike Mordecai new up Mordecai singled in the first inning the only other hit off of no Thomas Perez the exception of the Michael Barrett double in this inning [Music] two men out runner at third be careful on the first pitch tomorrow especially with strength well harness so far they stayed away from that first pitch both at-bats have been off-speed and a breaking ball put a little wrinkle in it because if it's a straight one Michael come out of both shoes to hack at a fastball in the first pitch and there was a stretch to when he didn't miss any of them here's the o1 outside corner at the knees nothing into here's the o2 in a right field based hit boy that's a good job of hitting my Mordecai he didn't try to do too much with that one he was behind in the count oh and two and you could tell by that swing was a very defensive swing it's trying to put it in place somewhere and it winds up tying up the game you see a lot of successful hitters who were offensive for strikes 1 & 2 and defensive after that not that bad of a pitch watch from this angle that's off the outside corner but Mordecai the thing probably that allowed him to do it was if it was up a little but well you sum that up perfectly you get to try to do too much with it just put it in play where it was pitched his fifth RBI of the year ties the game at one third hit off Perez and it brings up Milton Bradley takes ball one Bradley into a 5-4 horse play his first time up back out ball one-strike he's a switch-hitter who has really struggled as a right-handed banner this year hitting this 146 from this side of the plate Oh Dallas Perez using the more conventional delivery from the stretch I talked to Leo Mazzoni down in Florida about that and he said well we had two steps number one we wanted to teach him a slide step to use to keep runners close but then the second part of that is teaching when to use it strike on the outside corner one and two there's a lot of times and I would venture to say most pictures when they change what is normal for them to accommodate a different delivery something has to give and a lot of times it can be the control that was a good one there not sure though he has to really be that tricky with Mike Mordecai behind kik there and just missed outside two and two I think we watched him a couple times working from the stretch with a runner on third using the slide step the slide steps purposes with a runner on first that you think is going to go to get the ball to the plate quicker and to add a little bit of a variety and the way you do it here's the two to hold count 3 and 2 the runner will be off and moving on this pitch with Vladimir Guerrero waiting on deck now see you're not holding him on you've got two outs Wes Helms is back this is not a time for sliding step this is the time to do whatever it takes to make your best pitch of the end he struck him out third strikeout of the game leaving that runner at first but the RBI single by Mordecai has tied the game 1-1 as we head to the bottom of the third for every action has been a problem there is a greater reaction you two make a cute couple [Music] the replacements
