For fans born in the mid 80s of earlier, maybe you're like me and remember this as one of the great moments in San Diego baseball and Padres baseball history.
The introductions give me chills. So many stars, many of which were current or former Padres.
Tony, Crime, Sheff, Benito, Fernandez...
Bip, Alomar, Baerga, Sandy, Ozzie, Kruk, Carter...
Wow.
Just sharing for a little nostalgia :).
I was in the high school band that played the pregame show. I don't think I was part of the star, though. Trumpets were in the ring on the edge of the infield
Whoa, I just randomly clicked on the video's timeline just to catch a few minutes of the game, and I landed on Gwynn's AB (about 96th minute) where he walked to load the bases. They were talking about how the Padres might trade him, and how he was set to earn a 3 year, 12 mil extension.
How lucky I landed on a Gwynn AB. I should buy a lottery ticket!
I have an unused ticket from this game.
I was there. By the score board. Oh the memories
Go to 23:30-and watch Bip Roberts get a great ovation from the Friar Faithful. What a smile. My favorite Padre growing up.
And go to 24:15 to see Mike Sharperson (Dodger) get booed!
these commercials are a nostalgia bomb
This is the whole game?? Heck yes! I know what I'm saving to watch tonight. And I see the 1993 game below it. I've got '93 recorded on a VHS tape (which I obviously haven't been able to watch in decades).
Thank you OP!!
Back in the day when you couldn't see all of the superstars of baseball play on your screen on demand. Hell, they didn't even really televise a lot of your team's home games locally in many cases.
People who never suffered through that don't really understand how crazy it is to see all of those great baseball players do their thing. If the All-Star Game has lost its appeal, it's because the media environment that made it such a big deal has changed dramatically.
