Hi everyone, today we'll see 5 tips to play Bard well in Dungeons & Dragons and Baldur's Gate 3. First, master your Bardic Inspirations. Bardic Inspirations are one of the main Bardic resources. It will allow you to inspire your allies by giving them a bonus dice on their next attack, save or chosen skill. This dice will be a D6 and will evolve into a D8 at level 5, a D10 at level 10 and finally a D12 at level 15. In Baldur's Gate 3, you can use your Bardic Inspirations 3 times per long rest, then 4 times at level 5 and 5 times at level 10. In Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, the number of Bardic Inspirations per day will be determined by your Charisma modifier, so maximize it. At the start, you will have to choose when to use this resource which is only recharged by long rest, but from level 5, you will get all your inspirations by short rest. Therefore, you will have to abuse this mechanic to facilitate encounters or your skills. Finally, choosing a Bardic College will allow you to access a variation of your Bardic Inspirations. Tip number 2, choose your Bardic College. From level 3, you will have to choose a Bardic College that allows you to specialize your Bard and give you access to an alternative to use your Bardic Inspirations. In addition, this College can give you access to additional master skills, new known spells, armor and weapon mastery and even additional attacks. If we take as an example the Bardic College of the Wisdom, you will gain mastery of 3 skills of your choice but also the "Cutting Words" ability which will consume a Bardic Inspiration and will allow you to penalize an enemy by taking your Bardic Inspiration dice from all his attack, save and skills until the beginning of your next turn. For Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, small change, you will only be able to reduce 1 attack, save or damage roll from your opponent. Finally, at level 6, you will gain the knowledge of 2 additional spells. The College of Valor will give you access from level 3 to the mastery of shields, intermediate armors and war weapons but also the "Martial Inspiration" ability which will allow you to use your Bardic Inspiration to improve the next damage roll or the CA of an ally of the value of your inspiration dice. Finally, at level 6, you will also gain an additional attack per turn during your attacked action. You will have understood, your Bardic College will clearly guide you to what your Bard will specialize. Tip number 3, choose wisely your known spells. The Bard is part of the category of profane spellcasters who will not need to prepare his spells every day. However, you will only be able to cast the spells that your character knows. But unlike a magician who can learn new ones by copying the scrolls in his book, the Bard will only be able to know new ones during a level up. So you will have to choose the new spells you want to acquire. However, during each level up, you will be able to forget a spell you know to replace it with another. And it is this mechanic that will allow you to know the most powerful spells at your disposal. So each level up can be crucial, avoid the reflex to click on "next" and analyze your list of known spells well. Tip number 4, understand the expertise of skills. The Bard is the most versatile class in Dungeons & Dragons. It allows you, from the creation of your character, to choose the mastery of 3 skills at will, where for the other classes, the choice will be made only in a restricted list. In addition, from level 2, you will unlock the "Jack of All Trades" ability which will allow you to add half of your mastery bonus to skills that you do not master. Either a bonus of +1 up to level 9, +2 up to level 17 and +3 later. Finally, you will also unlock the "Expertise" ability from level 5, allowing you to double your mastery bonus for 2 skills that you master, as well as 2 additional skills from level 10. "Jack of All Trades" will allow you to be a real Swiss roll for your group, while expertise will guarantee the success of the crucial skills. So take the time to choose the skills you want to become an expert for later. And finally, abuse representations. When you equip a musical instrument in Baldur's Gate 3, you will have a new available action which will be the artistic representation. This action, if it is used with NPCs, could allow you to get additional gold and could increase the influence you have on them. In Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, your game master could reward you according to the quality of your representation and associated roleplay. Know that this type of action is strongly requested by the game masters, so do not hesitate to abuse this ability as soon as possible. And that's it! You have everything to be the best bard, so do not hesitate to abuse it!
